jodi is the sexiest garden gnome ever existed

So tell us what it's about, or are you just posing?

I like her critiques of idpol and the general left today, but I've never understood wtf her positive contribution to communist theory is.

Are you truly so intellectually insecure that you think everyone needs to prove that they've read something before discussing it? Jesus.

It's about reforming conceptions of communism away from static historicized narratives and towards a revitalized political strategy represented through the symbolic "horizon". That's the best I can do having only read 40 pages so far, but I particularly liked the way she took down "communism is USSR is Stalinsim" thing.

She frames conceptions of the US and USSR as completely reliant on each other, basically a dialectic. She argues that the USSR's focus on productivity comes from a fetishization of western capitalism and the US's focus on consumer freedom comes from a fetishization/insecurity about Soviet socialism.

Oh?

Is it worth looking into then…

Calm down, your insecurity is showing.

I just don't love thr idea of discussing books I have just started reading with people who haven't read it. Seems silly and pretentious to me.

The A.W. has spoken!

Mr. Freud Cigar is a true comrade.

Anyway. Some people seek support and acknowledgement from others when they (finally started to) read. We live in a culture where nothing is more "uncool" than books so their very human desire for acceptance should be understood and met with our full support. Desire is always the desire of the Other.

Keep it up, OP!

Isn't this Zizek's argument that the USSR tried to have the productivity of capitalism without the capitalist form?

Pretty sure all serious criticism of USSR (beyond muh revisionism) as State Capitalist has used this direction, the Dutch-Germans, Bordigists, Johnson-Forest, Aufheben etc.
