European here, Las Vegas will forever remain a technological marvel for me, an American icon. Built in the middle of a fucking desert because of cheap land and to bypass gambling laws, cast in neon and steel, very unique, so fascinating.

Almost all, with the exception of very few, of the worlds cities are built on the coast, a river, or some sort of access to water, but Las Vegas takes a big fat steaming shit on that for the sole purpose of good ole American Capitalism. I feel you, hell, I commute to the city once a year (relatives live there) and even I am amazed by the technological marvel that is Vegas. It absolutely blows me away such a massive piece of infrastructure can exist in such a hostile environment. In a way it gives me hope because it proves humans will find a way to build anywhere and not only survive but thrive.
