Hello niggerino's

I was thinking of buying a vita for the weebshit since I won't be getting ps4 and gooks don't port to pc

I really want the white one, though. Where could I buy it from without paying 600$?

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite until MHG comes out at least, Gundam Breaker 3, and a little Taiko

New localization announcements that won't be done by NISA. XSEED/Atlus/PQube PLZ

Nothing really

Not much of anything. Gotta save up for textbooks and a new laptop for school. I buy Gunpla when I can, but otherwise I'm not spending much.

Lmao enjoy your waifugames machine. I'll be enjoying my 3DS meanwhile lol.

Lmao enjoy your kiddiegames machine. I'll be enjoying my PS4 meanwhile lol.

$600? Unless you want the miku white version maybe.
play-asia is a good option.

The only Vita i've ever seen go that much for is the Soul Sacrifice one.

Amazon has it for just under $200 though

Enjoy your outdated console that will quickly be left in the dust despite was Sony says.
I'll be enjoying my PC meanwhile lol.

Yeah, I was overexaggerating. I saw it on eGay last christmas for 350 or something, USED.

You meant the vita or..? Because you generally don't compare a handheld with a console.

Just buy a PS TV man. Unless you really want to carry a fucking Vita with you all the time you shoudnt.

The black one brand new was 139.99
dealzon.com/deals/cheap-ps-vita-coupons#playstation-vita-wifi

I really want to add a vectrex to my collection, but i want to get it for a good price. sub 200 with games.

I am definitely having fun with EDF… best "next gen" game ive played so far… and its from last gen.

I was merely pretending, I don't even own a ps4

Gundam Breaker 2 and Demon Gaze.

Currently have preorders down on Coven and Labyrinth of Refrain, Caligula, Ys 8, and Seven Pirates. Keeping an eye on Gundam Breaker 3's price for when I finish 2.

With GunBrea it's impossible to not have fun. The only stress is how large my backlog is and how it's not sinking at all. Doesn't help that my 3DS takes up a lot of time with MonHun X, plus the new Gyakuten Saiban is next month.

when is E3 anyway?

June 14th through 16th.

Is that an OLED or LCD model? OLED would be nice, but the longer battery life of the LCD models sounds nicer.

LCD unfortunately. I really need to find another OLED. I've put thousands of hours onto mine and I'm really worried about what I'm gonna do when it dies. I was comparing my Vita to my monitor using remoteplay the other day and it really made me want an OLED monitor. It looked like washed out shit compared to the colors on the Vita.
Oh yeah, i think that deal is over though too.

So, is there still no homebrew/priacy done for the Vita?

I really want a Vita, but it's not going to be worth it unless I can mod it or I find one of those God-awful memory cards for a reasonable price.

I think not which fucking blows my mind considering how people were all over the PSP back then.

Oh well, it was only 20 dollars lower.

The memory cards are the worst part. I think I'll just get a 32 GB, that should do hopefully. I plan on just buying games from the PSN when I can get them cheaper there.

Is there a physical copy of Muramasa Rebirth that has all the DLC included on the game itself, or do they all just include download codes? I'd like to get an American copy just because it's cheaper, but with the way the damn account system works on the Vita, I can't buy anything from any PSN except the Japanese unless I buy another overpriced memory card or format mine every time I want to play a game not downloaded on the Japanese PSN.

Seriously, Sony, what the fuck is this bullshit? This is the ONE THING that is keeping me from buying your stupid console, and I'm pretty sure there are a bunch of others in the same boat as I am.

The prices are stupid, but the main thing is to not fall for the "you need a big card" bullshit. Unless money is less important to you than taking two minutes to transfer a game to your PC once you're done with it. I only do that for stuff like Ateliers, since I just buy games physically, but still.

Also are there any worthwhile hack 'n' slash games on the Vita?

got my package… I was pleasently surprised at how 海腹川背 had a manual… the comment form is neat too, if not useless

I also considered a 16 GB card. The biggest game I want to buy is Persona 4, most of the others are a few hundred MB. Of course I might buy some bigger games later, but not all of them will be digital, I just wanted to buy it digitally because it's cheaper than buying it physically anywhere except Yesasia and I'd like to play it soon. But I may end up buying from Yesasia anyway since I don't want to spend 50 dollars on a Japanese PSN card at the moment. I'll probably buy Muramasa from the Japanese PSN though since I don't think any physical copies contain the DLC, and the version that comes with DLC codes is about 45 dollars for the Japanese version anyway.

Americans, how has your experience been with Yesasia shipping times?

There is a physical copy of Muramasa that includes the DLC.

Oh is there? I thought it only had DLC codes.

I could've sworn there was one that had the DLC on the cart, but I could be wrong.

$45 for the game and the DLC is pretty good though.

I used an 8gb card for a really long time, until I caught one of gamestop's sales where 16gb cards were $20. Obviously, it's always nice to have more space, but you can fit quite a bit of stuff on a 16gb card. I have all this stuff and there's enough room for the updates and all that shit. I keep things on it I'm not even playing on it though too. I just figure it doesn't hurt to have the extra stuff on there in the meantime, since if I need space I can just move one of them.

Shit thread for a shit console made for shit people

I know right? I always try to tell them. I say things like "Hey! You're shit!", but they always ignore me.

Mother fucking Last Blade 2 since it's finally out
one of those 64gb cards but for a decent price.
Need to finish off Gundam Breaker 3
Just pre-ordered Ys VIII's Premium Box and Uppers

Is valhalla knights 3 worth playing?

No.

Not specifically hack n' slash, but if you mean just cuhrayzee/third-person-character-action game in general, the Senran Kagura games and Hyperdimension Neptunia U might have the fix you want though they aren't really cuhrayzee…

I started out with a 32GB card, and now it's nearly full. I almost can't bring myself to drop $100 on a single 64GB memory card, but dropping $55 on an additional 32GB card is just as silly, I mean I may as well go for the 64GB at those prices anyway…fucking Jewny

What's the file size for the game? I'll pick it up sooner or later if I can, just to see what all the hoopla is about.

You and me both

From all I've read up about it, the general consensus is that it's mediocre at best, but the reviews have ranged from "pretty okay/meh" to "steaming pile of shit." It never looked great to me to begin with, so I've avoided it.

If there's a demo, download that and see for yourself.

Deception IV: Nightmare princess
Shinobido 2 - Not presented in PSN, so I guess I need to find it in retail stores? Though I still need to play the first one.
Gravity Rush
EDF 2017 - EDF! EDF! EDF!
Corpse Party bd
Project Diva - I have my doubts about it since I could first get it on other platforms for free
Muramasa: Rebirth
Xonic Suprebeat
Soul Sacrifice: Delta
Dancanpumpan AE: DG - If there'll be no PC rerelease

And so there is still a question, does this console have any other quality exclusive games or is that it?
I'm not talking here multiplat indie, jrpg or vn trash, there is enough of that shit on any other platform. Toukiden, God Eater, freedom wars are boring and times worse and inferior to mh, so not interested in that either. I am really interested in opinions on that matter, so shoot even if you are uncertain.
Also, why deception IV community on youtube consists on 100% of retards in western part and there are barely any worthy results in jpn?

you should pirate it first, oh wait…

As far as I know Shinobido 2 got removed from the PSN, or something so if you didn't have it before it's now physical only. Not sure why it would have been removed though.

As someone suggested in the last thread, you should try searching under the Japanese name of the game if you haven't already, since not every game goes by the same name in Japan and the west.

I live in a third world country where physical is not an option, so I had to import the 64gb.

And I still have to juggle games in and out of the card.

And I've answered to him that I did exactly that.
youtube.com/watch?v=e5D59seq_4g
youtube.com/user/msx3do/videos?view=0&sort=dd&shelf_id=0

And about shinobido, I kinda live in a country where vita is extra dead, so I'd probably need to import it, would I have any problems with that?

Good old DT2. Just recruited my 2nd maid and now I almost all characters over lvl 30, which I took advantage of and fine tuned some builds and unlocked outfits

The vile fiend of desire cannot reach me right now, I have to finish DT2 first, else my library will become Steam 2.0

DT2, Soon

Nothing as of yet, although I bought a memory card off the hands of some jap on ebay a few weeks ago.

Not sure. You'd need to find a place/seller willing to ship to where you live, and then there's still possibly export price hikes and shipping costs. Also not sure if the removal of the PSN version has caused prices to go up even out here.

At least the Vita is region free and while the memory cards are locked to one account (and thus one region) at a time for digital downloads, physical games can still be played regardless.

Great, now I'm wide awake. Don't say scary things, so late at night, like that.

It's already too late for me. I've only beaten 2 of my 45 or so Vita games, and those are just the physicals…

A kindred spirit.
Out of all the games I own, Killzone Mercenary is the only one I've finished, and that was eons ago.

>tfw I can get Vita for

...

Also wasn't the Vita version of The Last Blade supposed to be available to purchase today?

Dungeon Travelers 2, just got Fiora and Lize, now I'm rethinking my party since they are under-leveled and I need to grind to make them useful.

I want Blanc vs Zombies and Odin Sphere

Nothing

Nothing

after not having enough room to update Senran kagura I've finally got a bigger memory card

god they still expensive as fuck even for used ones

I swear if Sony used real memeory cards for this console it woulda sold better

If it's in good condition, yeah. If I found one new for that price I'd jump immediately, and I already have a Vita and a PSTV.

The memory card prices are what initially stopped me from getting one in Canada when they were all being blown out for a hundred bucks about two years ago.

I finally caved in I bought a Vita. Before I do anything stupid, is there any reason to not update the firmware? Homebrew or anything?

twitter.com/HeavyArm_Store/status/735476672242155521

Hey lads, I recently got myself a VITA.
Does anyone of you have a recommended list of games for the VITA?
Any personally recommended games?
Are Earth Defense Force 2 and Sorcery Saga: Curse of the Great Curry God worth buying?
Are there interesting upcoming releases?

EDF 2017 is worth buying since its an exclusive for NGP and redringofdeath.
EDF 2 was released already on psp and ps2.

If the thread is slow here I recommend you to visit /vitagen/
Yeah, they are more autistic but they can answer your questions.

Thanks, I'll give it a look.

LUMINES was a PSP system seller for a reason.

I really want more Lumines…not as a fucking Android app, goddammit.

SRW Z3 Jigoku-hen and Tengoku-hen
The Gundam Breaker series

Caligula, and Coven and Labyrinth of Refrain next month. Ys 8 in July. Genkai Tokki Seven Pirates in August.

Is the Vita deader than disco?

Nah, that's the PS4.

More like deader than an aborted baby in NA
However its alive and well in Japan and we're basically getting translated and raw copies of games. Hell, DT2 has no english audio whatsoever. Thank fuck for that

Nope, it's locked down like a chasity belt on a loli waifu.

STEINS;GATE 0 CONFIRMED
archive.is/BKyUq

I still haven't even finished that yet. I'm about halfway through it. I finished the first mission the Helghast give you, but that's where I wound up stopping off.

Hell yeah go for it, that's a pretty good price, especially in good/new/like new condition

Oh sweet, a new list from /vitagen/, I'll make sure to use that in the OP for the next thread. I can't believe I keep forgetting to post one of these every time I make the thread orz

Anyone want to play earth defense force 2 online?

Wii U is deader than the Vita on this point no one is actually investing in it.

PS4 is actually selling in Japan now its 7th place on Amazon ranking

I would if I didn't have to work

I don't think I've even touched EDF2 since launch day when a few of us played it together for an hour or two.

Yeah, as much as I love this game, online is literally dead

it's a damned shame too, since the online is so fun. I just wound up playing ToCS over that instead at the time. Of course now I've long-since stopped playing ToCS to play other stuff,

I went there to ask something awhile back and it seemed even worse than I remember it. There was tons of namefags, direct linking to neogaf and making threads there themselves, PS4/3DS/Vita fighting fanboy faggotry, actual faggotry where anons were flirting and contacting each other to jerk off to porn together, acting like the vita was dead over old games getting ported to PC, and lots of other shit. It was pretty sickening.

haha your average halfchan circlejerk, but at least they know about the vita.
I dont visit them directly, I check the fireden archives from time to time.
boards.fireden.net/vg/search/subject/Playstation Vita General/

150 MB without the theme you get with it for free.

FUCKING GREAT NEWS! Suck our dicks Tecmo USA. God Eater Resurrection next please.

Ah, is it now? Maybe it'll start getting some games in a few years then instead of just subsisting off of PS3/Vita ports.

I found this in another thread, there's a lot more coming, but there's so damn many cross-gen ports.

Yakuza 6 is coming out this year as a PS4 exclusive

Isn't "Nights of Azure" the foreignese name for The Nightless Country? That's a PS3 and Vita game, not an exclusive. Disgaea 5 is the only exclusive there that looks any good, and it's guaranteed to get a handheld port that is objectively better in every way like the first four did.

Not familiar with the series.

People like to pretend that if a game didn't get english versions for the other platforms they don't even exist.

I don't get this, it'd be one thing if the machine were region locked like the 3DS (which really just means don't buy an NA or EU machine in the first place, just buy the JP hardware to begin with,) but the biggest selling point of the PS hardware after the games is the fact that they're region free. I got a Vita and Vita TV from America because they were dirt cheap due to it bombing and use those to play games (although the switched X and O buttons is still fucking weird to get used to) so I can promise you they work.

This one's not coming to Vita this time sadly.
I don't know, maybe I just prefer action games for the most part.

It's a halfchan list, so of course it's a piece of shit. It also lists Dragon Quest XI as only import, even though it's also coming to the 3DS.

The problem is most people don't know japanese, so when they want to play some JRPG in english or something they'll still be fucked. Nintendo is just jackasses for doing that in the first place.

It still pisses me off to this day that Sony switched X and O here. I thought X was the universal "no" symbol anyway. Every fucking computer I've ever used uses X to close things and when you see a sign with an X over something, it usually doesn't mean proceed. It's just so stupid that I can never just be entirely used to controls due to their stupid decision.

I didn't have a problem until games stopped doing this, so weird.

...

Dungeon Travelers 2

Ar Nosurge, Gravity Rush

Danganronpa, but I haven't done all the upgrades and relationships. Should I bother?

Nothing at the moment.

Honestly you can get away with underlevelled characters for a while. I'm working on the Underground Waterway (like the 10th or so dungeon) and I only just bothered levelling Lize to 30, and Fiora and Souffle are still like 26. What classes are you running?

I don't, but I hangout with the characters I care about during freetime and don't really give a fuck what people like Toko have to say. It's bad enough that some of the shitty characters don't get murdered. I don't want to have to listen to them talking more than I need to too.

Various companies like to act is if a game that's a multiplat to the PS4, PS3, and/or Vita is PS4 only when it comes west. Though at least TK seemed to at least try to get Gust to let them bring the Vita version over (Gust declined), rather than outright acting as if that version didn't exist. Meanwhile you have companies like Square-Enix who also only localize the PS4 or mobile versions of various games also on the Vita, and then act baffled that anyone in the west would want the Vita version, let alone a physical release for it.

Isn't that kind of the fate of most general threads on /vg/ there, that they turn into tripfagging circlejerks? Granted, the only one I ever frequented was the jrpg general, and there were only a few noticeable ones there at the time (I stopped going a few years back when some posters, asspained about the west getting games they felt we didn't deserve here, started spamming spoilers for upcoming releases), but they could be pretty annoying at times.

You that user that's been looking for a physical copy of Ar Nosurge Plus? If so, good luck in your quest to find one at a reasonable price. That one store out where I live has had a copy of it in their case for a month now without any buyers (at least as of earlier this week).

It's muscle memory, if you ask me. If you were accustomed to games using X to confirm and O to cancel, the opposite is going to take time to get used to. I had a similar issue with Tales, where the usual default control scheme is O for artes, Square to guard, and X to attack, but for whatever reason with Vesperia on the 360, the artes and attack buttons are swapped as the default. Thankfully you can remap controls, but still.

It wasn't really confusing for me because I came over from Nintendo consoles and was used to the button placement. A/B and O/X are in the same spot. Hated adjusting when games started using X as a default "A" button.

I posted about it a few months ago, I haven't been in any Vita threads since around February. Still looking though, yeah.

Wait, what price are they asking for it? Do you know if they do online transactions?

Ace Combat I still need to play the original, so I kind of skimmed that one, but you're right, I've heard nothing but good things about the series barring the newer non-numbered installments No idea on the other titles though. I like action games as well, but I can't think of any good ones on the Vita besides Gundam Breaker and possibly Senran/Uppers/Valkyrie Drive or that have been announced coming up for it.

Agreed, region locking was a shitty shitty move, and one of many Nintendo's made. That said, with the quality of translations, you honestly might as well import the games even if you don't know Japanese and make up your own, it'll probably be more accurate than anything a localization company puts out.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sony is offering money or some other incentive to companies to only release the ports in the West to build up the narrative of "See the Vita and PS3 are dead, it's all about the PS4" Alternatively, it could be just that foreign releases are a non-factor to most game companies, and whether something succeeds or bombs in America has no real impact on them, so they don't want to bother forking out for more foreign releases than they need to.

I'm not overly familiar with Tales, but the first one at least had O/A as physical attack and X/B for the skills, unless my memory is totally gone. That said, it is definitely muscle memory, but O/A has been confirm and X/B has been cancel for a majority of games forever now, IIRC the trend towards swapping them only started with newer stuff like the PS1, and then only in the West anyway.

$90 for a boxed copy, which, while certainly still expensive, I hear is less than half of what other anons have reported seeing used copies going for online. I can't say for certain (I haven't had them get it out of the display case to check), but I assume it's complete with all the extras since it still has the collector's box. They do have an online storefront; I've asked them about it before. Unfortunately, they're still trying to get stuff worked out as far as that goes; various games (namely the older cart only ones where the barcodes where on the back of the now absent box) they're still trying to find the right way to get them added to their online database when they come in, and it wouldn't surprise me if for AnS+, the fact it didn't have a regular retail release (being a limited physical print game only sold through NISA's online store) has something to do with it. Either that or the employees are too lazy to dig the actual case out of the box and see if there's a barcode/production number on the back to put into the computer.

Funny thing is that they've had a page for that specific version on their website already for whenever they get one in, they've just never put the game up there as being available to buy online.

Well I hope they get that sorted out, I'd rather be semi-scalped by a local-ish place than completely scalped by some fuck on Amazon.

Should I buy a vita now or is it going to get cheaper

Could be, compared to the visual novel general the vita one seemed to take it to a different level though. It might surprise you how bad it is. I'm guessing it might be partly because neogaf hate's the vita, so their posters crossed over or something. They have tripfags using the same name as on neogaf and way more links to that shithole, anyway.

Most translations I don't mind that much these days, as long as there's dual audio, since pretty much everything is voiced now, but with the things that NoA has been doing it's way too much for me. Thing like FE fates is more than just a bad translation to me though.

Tales is getting to be one of my favorite series. I'm playing two different Tales games right now and when I finish them I'll play some more.

I think the only way you're getting a pricedrop is if Japan does it and since it's getting more games then the 3DS and generally costs less, I really don't see them dropping the price until Nintendo does or the NX handheld thing comes out. If you know of any stores that have them I guess there a chance you could find one on clearance someday, but since it has pretty much no retail presence that might be kind of difficult.

If you live in central AZ (or possibly Las Vegas, Nevada; they ship between locations down here, and have stores up there as well; not sure if they ship between AZ and NV though), you could possibly pick it up yourself.

Which ones you been playing? And yeah, it's been one I really enjoy for at least a few years now.

To me it's the same shit foreignizations have been pulling for decades, people here are just more aware of it now because of the Internet and the recent scrutiny of the Western gaming industry. Also if anything, the audio would make it more obvious that the English words are completely wrong, I remember an American friend playing the US release of Ni no Kuni and having to return it and import the JP for that reason.

I liked what I played of Phantasia, and I enjoyed the similar Summon Night spinoff, Craft Sword Story, so I'm sure I would like at least the 2D Tales games if not the 3D ones. I'm just still bitter about my save file for Phantasia getting corrupted and need to get around to playing from scratch again.

I'd say they're about equal on both of these to be honest, but yeah, don't expect a price drop anytime soon.

You got one Vita game and you will like it, powerup that discourages previously methodical, but boring play and all.

Yeah, Swordcraft Story handles like the earlier 2D Tales game, albeit with more emphasis on regular attacks than artes (since stuff like magic or healing is considered something special since if memory serves, you can only have five or so of those set at once and once you've used them you can't use them again in the same fight; could be wrong though, it's been a while since I played them).

As for the 2D Tales games, Destiny PS1 uses Phantasaia's engine to my knowledge (and thus I assume it plays pretty similarly to Phantasia SFC for better or worse; apparently the PS2 remake has a lot of improvements to it and has some of the best 2D combat in the series), while Phantasia PS1 smoothed the melee combat out a bit. Eternia smoothed out magic as well and set a standard for fluidity that the rest of the main series (barring maybe Legendia has), as spells no longer interrupt combat. Though I have seen some fans that apparently miss that, feeling that the spell interruption added to the "oompth" of using them.

It'll probably climb on price as shipments are getting more sparse, unless you import from jp, but that's another can of worms.

Building on further replies, I wonder if NIS got an "incentive" to say that the Vita could't run Disgaea 5 and that they would never ever port it.

Unfortunately I'm way on the other side of the country. Any idea if they do any business in California? I have a few friends in SoCal.

Eternia and Zesteria. They actually go pretty well together, since they both feel different enough to be a change of pace from one another. Zesteria will actually be the first game I've entirely played through remote play (besides a short while just to see the difference.)

I think most of the time it's nothing too new, but with Fates for example, I'm not sure how common it ever way to remove entire gameplay segments, the part where they talk about what it means to take a life being changed to all "…"'s, and the girl saying how happy she was to be together changed to "rawr is dragon for I love you" and everything just adds up for me. But, yeah, the Japanese audio does make it stand out more. My goal is to not even have to look at the words when things are voiced. Compared to trying to import that way all the written parts are still in English too, so i don't get stuck at every puzzle (and even turn fetch quests into puzzles). It's the stupid written Japanese that feels impossible for me.

I think they're supposed to, but I always see deals on the Vita to make it cheaper.

According to their website, their stores are just AZ (six locations across Chandler, Tempe, Phoenix, and Tuscon) and NV (both in Las Vegas). Ideally you should be able to buy stuff from their online store from anywhere in the country and they'll readily ship it out, but again, they're still trying to figure out a good way to get games without barcodes to automatically be added to their storefront for purchase when they accept a trade in or sale to them.

Oh, it's you from the old PSP thread a week or two back? Good to see you around. There's another PSP thread up if you were wanting to continue discussion there, though it seems like some autist started an argument about android being better yet again the other day.

Whether that's going to work or not depends entirely on the game in question, since not every game gets given the "full voice" treatment where every plot relevant line is voiced. And occasionally there's still games that are entirely voiceless.

I bought it along with P4G and Freedom Wars for $15 together. They were on sale
I just bought Estival Versus and it's breddy fun
I wish Dragon Quest was on Vita
I also wish memory cards weren't six hundred thousand dollars for a 152MB card. I can't speak for others but I can say for me the ridiculous memory card prices are the reason I got a PSP instead piracy was also a big push but honestly the prices were in face the deciding factor

Damn that's cheap. Vitas go for 400 around here.

Square-Enix won't even put the older games on the VC or PSN; they just keep bringing phone ports west as if that's what the fans here want more. Though they seem to have a dislike for old games Enix used to handle anyhow, as none of them have made it up to either to my knowledge, and even the ones that did see a PSP port/remake didn't see digital versions either.

Where do you live at that they're still that high? I mean, yeah, there's some stores here asking completely bullshit prices ($300 for a used Vita), but the more reasonable places ask about $150-170, not including memory cards).

Yeah, I saw that. It was at the top with a lot of posts, so I get happy people are talking about PSP games, only to go in there and find out it was all cell phone talk. I was gonna post something about that stupid shadow craymel, but I didn't feel like sorting through all that junk. I'm not sure what that guy's deal is, but I wish other people would just ignore him.

It does seem like it's getting more common for main characters to be almost entirely voiced, at least. I really wouldn't mind more games with no voice acting though. I'd definitely prefer it to when they have women voice anime-like girls in their regular voices and they look 16, but sound 32. (I miss those different toned beep sounds for voices too. Some of the girl toned, higher pitch ones were cute.)

Can't you just import it for less? That's insane.

I think SE wants to go full mobile but can't not without pissing off the older fanbase.

I can't believe those fucks are charging $40 for digital copies of "i am setsuna". Maybe part of the reason they didn't localize the Vita version was because if they charged that much they would look even more retarded.

Post physical Vita games.

…fug

I have Abe's Odyssey and DOAX3 now too, but i think that's probably everything else.

I'm the kind of guy who bounces from game to game depending on what I'm feeling, so I don't play it much. I'm trying to change, though. I've been playing Kingdom Hearts 1.5 the last week and I haven't even touched any other games
I work 40 hours a week and have played 40 hours this week. My ass hurts from sitting for so long

I just read up on the Square Enix merger and honestly it's kinda funny
the Final Fantasy movie flopped so hard Enix actually reconsidered the merger, and Square had to sell 20% to Sony just to survive until Final Fantasy X and Kingdom Hearts released. Fortunately, Sony bought, and FFX and KH pushed Square into their most profitable year ever, and the rest is our timeline
But imagine if Sony rejected SquareSoft. What if someone else took advantage of Square's desperation and snatched them up instead

I got a review copy of that one. Game is the shit.

SE does other shit too now like publish manga just so they have an extra source of income

What really sucks is that they had decent groundwork and some good ideas, but everything just feels cheap and shitty. I'll probably still beat it, since the battles can be entertaining, but I only play it to waste time if I'm bored. If it didn't have such a boring, shitty cast of characters it would help give me more ambition.

Well, I'm still around there ignoring the android guy if you feel like discussing the game there still, considering it's not quite Vita related (especially since it's not as if Namco has any interest in putting it on the PSN).

Also worth noting that Vesperia PS3 was essentially given the full voice treatment, much like Phantasia had been before it. Even the really minor NPCs are voiced if the line is part of the main plot. Like the desk lady at the colosseum when you have to go there as part of the plot: her asking Yuri if he's going to be participating is actually voiced in the PS3 version.

I suppose what really matters is what Japanese fans would think of that. I doubt they give a rats ass if western fans think their digital only and "mobile localization only" ideas are bullshit.

I suppose I can't speak about things much since I haven't followed Square that much, but it always strikes me as silly to see Squaresoft fans blaming Enix for the state of the post merger company these days, when from what I've heard, rather than Enix having been in charge, or even a balance of the two companies, Square employees got put in charge of the merged company.

Yeah, didn't they get into an argument with SNK over High Score Girl, or am I thinking of another company?

It was SNK

Here's mine. Pano cam on my iPhone makes the image look a bit goofy, but you can see all the game titles at least.

Nice to see I'm not the only one who alphabetizes their vita games. You have a bunch of games I want too.
(I actually just found out Hollow Fragment has an English cover version. Figures I didn't even know that when I bought it. I don't have the english cover for DOAX3 either.)

I'm glad someone's played it and enjoyed it. It really doesn't help that there's no digital version, since some people just can't be bothered to emulate. I'm partially the same way where if I can just be lazy and play something I'll do it, but unless I really want to play something I won't go out of my way. Eternia just has a lot of really charming stuff about it, so I wish a legal copy wasn't so unattainable.

It's gonna be really interesting playing that again with all the new stuff. It was my first Tales game, so I'll get to look at it in new light that way too.

...

I'm honestly not real sure why someone wouldn't alphabetize their stuff in general, barring perhaps laziness.

Yeah, I'd wager that a mixture of too much competition and not enough marketing kept it (as well as Destiny from selling well out here). Until Xillia Namco was never real big on marketing series here much in general; Symphonia being an exception where Nintendo themselves marketed it for them and as such it sold really well and got the series much better known than it had been in fifth gen.

Considering how well Suikoden II's PSN version did when they released it (PSN game of the month, if memory serves), Namco's being foolish to not put both PS1 Tales games on the PSN, or even put the PSP version on the PSN the way they finally did for Breath of Fire III's PSP version (which the west never saw physically on the PSP). I mean, barring some legitimate issue with the games (perhaps having to relicense voices or not having credited something properly initially, which I heard might have been why BoF III PS1 isn't up there), the only reason I can see as to why they wouldn't put it up is that they don't think fans would want any of the old pre-Symphonia games here.

One of the reasons I've waited on buying a Vita for so damn long is because I'd hoped it'd be cracked and I wouldn't have to worry about this. Don't really want to buy two overpriced memory cards.

I don't know. It really bugs me if I don't use some type of method to organize things like that, but I don't think the average consumer bothers, unless I just have really weird luck. I've seen tons of people collections of movies and games and all types of shit and it's normally always just a thrown together mess.

That could be, but I just have a hard time believing their that stupid. all it even takes to get sales is throw some stupid blog together that sites will report on saying how it's a beloved JRPG, finally available again, cheap, blah, blah, and do the normal internet rounds of social media advertising, and hitting up forums and stuff. I'd like to see the number of people who just buy games, because they're on sale and never even play them. I'm sure they could get tons of $5 impulse purchases alone. (For some reason I bought Gravity Rush when it was on sale for a dollar even though I already owned it physically. It seemed too cheap to pass up, but I probably just threw money away.)

If your buying them physically you don't need to change accounts, unless you're planning on buying DLC or playing online. It works for updates at least.

Do you still want it?

Yeah, that's the only thing. Only one game on my list of Japanese games has some DLC that may be worth something, but I'm not sure. It's Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth, I know it has some free mission packs. No idea if they're worth it or not. Was also wanting to buy Persona 4 digitally so I can get it immediately and because it's a little cheaper than buying physical, but I can get a physical edition of it too if I decide to go with American PSN. One of the reasons I want to go with the American PSN is because games are cheaper, I'd even be willing to buy certain Japanese games like Muramasa in English because they're cheaper. For instance, Gravity Rush is less than 14 dollars on the American PSN, but it's 30 dollars on the Japanese PSN, and that doesn't even include the DLC.

Factoring shipping and enough to make somewhat of a profit on it, I'd have to sell it for like, 15 bucks, when Gamestop has it for 10 as is.

So I want it, beats lugging around my PC.

Yeah, it does suck if there's free DLC, but I figure if the stupid fucks can't put it in the game or include it with an update, then it must not be very important. I truly wish DLC never existed. Even if I had to lose updates and DLC done correctly, it's just not worth it to me now that every developer thinks that instead of throwing a bunch of costumes/maps/cars/horse armor/etc. in the game they can just put in a couple and sell the rest.

Yeah, same here. DLC is a cancer. Some good stuff, but it's a rarity.

I've never understood why developers make free DLC packs that contain things like extra money or items or something, stuff meant to give you just a little extra at the start of the game. I mean, it's not game breaking, it doesn't give you much of a head start, they're not charging for it, so why do it? It's free, so I'm not complaining, it just puzzles me.

Nothing, because there are no good games for the shita

I try to make sure I avoid those. I downloaded some of those stupid item packs not even knowing what they were and now I have the things on my list forever. They felt like cheating to me too, since they're just free items you shouldn't really have. The only reason I can see to put them up is for people who have a hard time learning the game or get stuck somewhere without items like a dumbass. I really hate some of those game breaking items they give away as preorder bonuses and shit though. I've had a couple before and they always seem like a giant waste, because at the point where they don't ruin the game their normally shit anyway.

Well, I think I will just stick with the American PSN since it looks like none of the Nip games I'm interested in has DLC or has important DLC (except for Muramasa, but I'll just get the English version of that). Persona 4 is one of the games I simply must play in Nip, so how fast does Playasia generally take to ship to America with the cheapest shipping option? What about Yesasia?

I think it depends if it gets stuck in customs. I've had one thing here in a little over a week and another thing took months. i thought it was lost or stolen, but luckily coming from another country makes a signature required.
Your best bet would probably be trying to find someone selling a copy in the same country.

Eesh, that's disheartening. I've ordered from them once, but that was six years ago, I'm not sure if they've changed anyway. I think it arrived in about a week.

I'm guessing that's probably the normal ETA. I think it was just the post office or customs being retarded when that happened, because play-asia even sent me something asking to review the items way before that. I was just happy to get my stuff eventually because I thought it was gone.
(That reminds me though. I'm actually waiting on a memory card for my PSP that I bought from Japan, super cheap, on ebay. That's been taking quite awhile too. I'm not really in a rush, but I'm glad it wasn't a game or something. It's probably been almost three weeks now.)

I don't like any of the characters in Disgaea 5, not a big loss for me. There's Disgaea 4 if I get the itch to play one of those games again.

There might be a couple more since then. Stranger Danger City is one of them.

The last two times I've ordered from them it took over a month for each single item order, presumably due to customs, but I live in Trudeau's feminist ejaculate swimming pool for reference. Burgers generally don't have to wait as long as I do. On the plus side I haven't yet had to pay any fees by using the cheap shipping option, and I hear using the fast shipping often, especially where I live, forces one to pay 15 to 20 bucks extra on fees, so I can wait as long as it gets to me.

I suppose it could always depend on how many games someone has ready access to. A friend of mine doesn't bother with alphabetizing, nor organizing by system, but he's only got about maybe 20 games across five systems (he doesn't buy much, but what he does buy he plays a LOT of).

Tales may be Namco's flagship JRPG franchise (much the way Suikoden was for Konami and BoF for Capcom), but given how the PS1 entries never did really well out here the first time around, it just strikes me Namco might not feel a second go at them is really worth it. Meanwhile with Suikoden and Breath of Fire, the PS1 entries are considered some of the best in the series, so maybe Konami and Capcom have been a bit more willing to make that effort, even if it took a damn long time for them to get around to putting Suikoden II and BoF III up there. At least with Wild Arms 1 and 2, the franchise is Sony's own property, so both got up there in due time (the US PSN anyhow; PAL PSN took until fucking 2012 to even get the first one and then got screwed out of WA2 yet again).

For me, when it comes to flash sales of PS1 games and the like, I'll generally buy something if I want to be able to play it on the PS3, but in some cases I've already downloaded an eboot to play them on a CFW PSP recently, and as such might not get around to them again for a while. I'd also like to think it shows support, if only a little, for the game/series at hand. Especially if the developers are still active and might make a bit of a return on it, or at least see that even now they have some support here (I will say though that I don't think I'll be grabbing either Suikoden from a flash sale anytime soon; Konami's been too intent on burning bridges).

None of my characters are at lv 30 yet so I haven't changed classes so I got Grishna as Berzerker, Lize as Doll Master, Monica as Assassin, Fiora as Priest and Conette as Bard. It's not the best party but I found it functional so far.

I just ordered odin sphere for vita. Should I have gotten the ps4 version instead? I'm so bad at making these choices. :U

Probably to get you to download more packs of stuff like that that isn't free in the future rather than earning it ingame. Looking at Tales, Graces and Xillia had stuff like gald and material packs (I can't recall if Xillia 2 did, but it wouldn't surprise me if it didn't have the gald ones since that would effectively be cheating on paying back the debt), with the intial ones being free and every other pack of them being paid. And that's to say nothing of all the attachment and costume DLC, which I wish were just left ingame the way they were in Abyss and Vesperia (and even with Vesperia PS3 having DLC only costumes, it also added numerous ingame ones to the already large amount the 360 original had).

Never used Playasia, but I've heard from some other anons that it seems like it can take a while to ship out as far as initial purchases go, whereas repeat customers get stuff faster. But again, that's just what I've heard on it, and I don't know how accurate that is.

On the occasions I've imported from places like Amazon, it's taken about three weeks to get stuff like Okami HD, if the time comparison helps.

IIRC you could set up to a certain amount, but could only cast five spells or so total per battle, regardless of which it is? But yeah, it was much more focused on using your weapon well.

How about the PSP version? I'm thinking of either playing that or tackling the SF version again.

I seem to recall them saying the same thing for Disgaea 3 and the PS2, so it wouldn't surprise me. NIS seems particularly close with Sony overall.

Opposite for me, my hearing is pretty shitty, so the text helps me understand what's being said at times.

Ah, to be fair, you'd be shopping in a different market, so I can't speak on the situation abroad, sorry.

There's two PSP versions of Phantasia. One is the Full Voice Edition, which simply adds even more voicing to the main plot on top of the voicing added (and in some cases, changed; Cless and Chester no longer have the same voice actor in the PS1 version, and the original voice actor for Dhaos died in 2000) for the PS1 version. The other (Tales of Phantasia X) is the one bundled with Narikiri Dungeon X, and features some tweaks to combat, updating it to handle similarly to Eternia in that spells and summons no longer interrupt the flow of combat. The latter is currently the most refined version of the game, but at this point the PS1 version is the most up to date in English. Absolute Zero is working on fan translating ToPX along with NDX, but it's likely to be a while before they finish.

I haven't played the PSP version since I don't know moon, but I've heard good things about the NDX bundle.

Alright, fair enough. I just found a copy(hopefully) at my local store. Hooray for me being one of the few Vita buyers in this area.

We lost a great man in Shiozawa. The man died far too young. Thankfully, the man who took up the mant for Dhaos specifically, Morikawa, is just as amazing an actor. The man has broken at least two microphones from being too fucking intense. Vid related.

If anything this sounds like a reason to play both, with the older one first, just to compare the systems.

Wouldn't be playing it in English anyway.

Up to you. I mean, the SFC version's a bit hard for some people to go back to as it's a bit unrefined (not that I fault the game for it, what with it being the very first version of the first entry in the series), but it does have some merit if one wants to see just how far the game (and series on the whole) has come since then.

I should also mention that ToPX essentially uses the FVE as a base (aside from the update to combat), and with the FVE being a port of the PS1 remake with extra voicing, you get not only the voicing but also all the new content the PS1 version added, such as Suzu being playable and Chester now having actual artes.

I tend to want to follow a series progression on a technical level, which is why my quest to play the Ys series is on hold until I can find a way to play Wanderers on the PC-88. Considering I've yet to play any Tales game but the SFC version of Phantasia, I'd say I've got nothing to lose.

I suppose so. The fan translation of the SFC has some issues if memory serves ("Fucks like a tiger" being a rather notorious moment of overemphasis), but if you're playing in moon anyhow that's not a problem for you. Still, it does sound like you're liable to have your work cut out for you if you aim to play through the whole series, both in the forms of original releases and remakes, considering how many there are if you know Japanese.

My backlog in general is already huge enough that I'll probably never finish before I die as is, so adding more stuff on can't really change much at this point

OP here, ID change due to storm blowing out my electricity & reset my computer, on a different proxy now

Same here. I almost never beat any of my games. In my Vita library, I've only beaten Virtue's Last Reward and Gravity Rush. I almost beat Shinovi Versus, but got tired of waiting for Estival (since it had already been delivered) and dropped Shinovi completely. Of course, I'm wasn't even halfway through Estival before I dropped it either.

Yeah, it has to be alphebetized for me, and the Jap names are also alphabetized by their romanji spellings. Oh, and I forgot I have a few games hidden/not displayed since I live with puritans. Here they are. I don't have any of my LEs on display either, since they take up too much room.

just depends on what you want. Do you want the PS4 Story Book Edition goodies or PSVita's top-comfiness?

Ah no. You're right. That's why I keep my vita around. Comfiness. Thank you for reminding me brother. Story book be damned.

Better to still have plenty of worthwhile stuff to play even if you won't get to it all than nothing good left.

At this point there's sixteen, going on seventeen (I think) main series entries in the series, with four of them having gotten full on remakes. And if you know moon there's also numerous escort titles that can be looked into (though maybe do some research on them; some aren't main series due to having slightly different style or being crossover games like Radiant Mythology, while others are relegated to that status due to fans not being fond of them, like Tales of the Tempest).

Lucky, even if it did cut your power. We're at least in a cool spell where I live right now, but we've got no rain anytime soon (probably not until July or August when we get annual monsoons, barring any storms California gets heading east), and it's set to get to 108 by next week.

There isn't really a right or wrong to this friendo, just only what you'd prefer

And personally, I'd only go for the PS4/Storybook edition if it ran locked 60FPS and had local co-op. Otherwise, I'd definitely go for Vita version.

Dayum, the hottest it ever gets around here is 100 usually, maybe 102/103, albeit it's usually also humid as all fuck how do you keep your PC and other electronics from overheating?

Funny thing is 108 here is small time compared to what it can get to. 115-117 at times during the middle of summer, and my parents have told me one year when I was really young it set a record at 125 or so one day. I suppose I'm lucky it's a dry heat anyhow; only humidity tends to be when the monsoons hit.

I've lived here my whole life, so I suppose I'm more used to it than people that visit from other states are. But when it's that hot, you don't leave a nice air conditioned building unless you absolutely have to.

I mainly play vidya at night and sleep during the morning and early afternoon if I can keep my room cool enough, and my computer doesn't tend to get really hot unless I'm using a power intensive program, like Photoshop or Indesign, for something. I honestly don't think people would manage here without proper fans and AC, though people did in the old days before those got invented (though to be fair, without asphalt it was probably a good bit cooler here).

amazon.com/dp/B01FWKKVTM

I'm buying a NISA game.

I don't want that game again. I want JUST Yomawari…i'll still probably buy this LE though.

I need to find a Vita pronto, the more I look at the games, the more I want one.

twitter.com/HeavyArm_Store/status/735900195624345601

wait, what does this mean?

Kekmo isn't doing an Asian English release. There is still hope for one if the LRG Arland run does well.

Is Yomawari like HotL#NiQ in that there's not a lot of text for NISA to fuck around with in translation and inevitably wind up breaking something in the process?

Well, seems I have to give money to NISA now…I really wanted to get this game even before it was getting localized.
store.nisamerica.com/yomawari-night-alone-firefly-diary-ps-vita

Wow, I'm an idiot now for not seeing that.
But how does Amazon get away with selling it for cheaper than NISA's online shop?

Comparing both the image there and here maybe the Amazon one doesn't cost as much since it doesn't have that tumbler? Just guessing off the pictures.

Yup, you are right. But whatever, I dont think I really care about that.

...

The first print artbook? That came with the Vita version as well.

True enough, especially with the sad state of the industry these days. Which isn't to say RAWR ALL NEW GAMES BAD - hell, just for Vita releases alone there's four games in the next three months I want - but goddamn does it seem to be getting worse day by day.

I've actually known quite a few people who only have a couple games for whatever system. A normal collection for a lot of the people I've seen would be something like NBA2K, COD, Resident Evil 6, and GTA. It seems really boring to me, but a lot of the people I've known just seem to buy a console mainly for the newest FPS they like too.

I just don't think a games performance back then can accurately reflect how it will do now. I think there's probably good odds that Suikoden 2 sold more as a digital re-release than it even did for it's original release in the west.

Yeah, I bet they do notice it. It's money after all.

No, I think he means the other artbook that comes with the LE. I'm not bothering with it myself, but if you have enough disposable income you might want it. I'd order that vita case with the extra money if I wanted extra stuff.

Odd, I don't remember there being an LE for Odin Sphere. Is it exclusive to foreign versions maybe?

There's one for North America, yeah.

Yeah, I think it's $80 and PS4 only if I remember correctly.

Ah, fair enough. Wouldn't want to play it in English anyway, so eh.

You mean you're not running best girl? For shame. Having a Witch is an absolute godsend once you start running into Dragon Riders and Krakens.

You sweet child. You'll learn soon. Melvy has to pull her weight just like every other magic user class.

nah nah, the Storybook Edition, which is PS4-Exclusive, has a hard-cover art book with more pages while the first run copies for PS4/Vita all come with a considerably shorter/fewer pages and soft-cover artbook.

smh tbh oniifam

Yeah, the Vita seems to do well enough, though it would be better if Sony had made more of an effort to do right be fans out here in the west, rather than acting like it's dead.

At the very least my friend avoids yearly sports games and movie stuff. He's got actual games, he just doesn't have a habit of dropping money on them too often (usually when I let him know that I've seen a game he's had interest in before around town).

Most likely so. Which makes it seem all the stranger that Namco hasn't made any effort to get their earlier Tales games up now that the series has caught on more with the west. But again, they don't even have the PS1 games up on the PSN in Japan either (which doesn't seem like enough to stop a PSN version for the west; I mean, that recent addition of Wild Arms 3 to the PSN is only for the US and PAL areas, with Japan not having it on their own).

For those who've beaten the DangItRonPaul games, is the "school mode" after clearing the original story mode in DangItRonPaul 1 canon? Or is it just sort of an extra blurb/post-game content that is non-canon?

I'm playing through DangItRonPaul 1 currently on my PC, and once I finish it I'll play DIRP2 on PC as well. I mean it was FREE vs paying $60. I more or less wanted to play the Vita versions, as playing sort of the "original/intended" versions of the games, but free's free. I may buy them both at a later date when they're even cheaper though, just to have them in my collection. But once I finish DIRP2, I'll pick up Ultra Despair Girls on my Vita for sure though.

It's just a tacked on mode for people who want to see the feetime conversations without playing the game again. anything actually added to it definitely isn't canon.

Also, the regular vita games should only be like $20 now.

She's my main damage dealer. I'd say I over-rely on her.

Grishna is great but I reset her to level 15 accidentally so catching her up to the rest of my party was a pain.
I'll think about it…

Literal autist with no tits

Ist is where the waifu material is at. Literally programmed caregiver with petite frame.

You do. And you'll learn not to, eventually. It's fine for now, at least.

She's no autist. She's that type you don't see done well anymore—genki girl. I see her in action and I think "Hikaru Shidou in a lewd game." She's fun.

Just preordering the Vita version got me the artbook in the pic, no idea if it's what you're talking about or not, but it's definitely hardcover.

At least in NA this is the PS4 Storybook edition.
Comes with:
Game with Collector's Metal Slipcase
Art Print
Potion Recipe T-shirt
Hardcover version of the 64-page Art Book
Premium Outer Box

Seems like a foreign exclusive thing, I certainly don't remember anything like that. That artbook looks like the one I got though, so probably the West getting fucked over by Sony's self-destructive strategies.

Yeah, it is probably region exclusive or something. I like it mostly for the box and steel slipcover. I am really curious what size this shirt will be though.

Yeah, regular pre-orders in the west get a softcover version of the artbook.

Fair enough, the steelcase wouldn't really be enough to justify the cost of importing a foreign version with a likely terrible translation and on a system that would cost another 35K to boot for me though, even if I had room to put the nice box.

That's rather unfortunate.

Oh yeah, this isnt a good enough LE to import for sure. I want to hope the translation is fine, I thought Muramasa and Dragon's Crown both had good translations so I can't imagine this would really be too different.

To be fair, I don't play games in English anymore, so I can't outright say if it has a good or bad translation, I've just seen too many examples of bad ones in my day to give any the benefit of the doubt, and the things I see on this board only make me surer I made the right choice Besides, I hear Atlus USA localized it, so I would expect a lot of random honorifics thrown in out of nowhere.

Better to be safe than sorry. I still need to work on my japanese got some more material to practice with and keep meaning to during lunch, but this week just got too hectic. I really dont want to fall too far behind on this but man is learning languages tough.

And Japan usually always gets the better LEs anyway. NA usually gets shafted on those releases. We are lucky to get an artbook and *maybe* an OST with LEs. Whereas everywhere else gets all sorts of cool figures or daki with their LEs.

Don't give up user, I've been on this language a little more than half my life now and I still am a shitter, but every game I play or manga I read is getting me a little better.

How does some LE Atlus put together have anything to do with Sony?

Considering the general practices we've seen regarding localizations of titles that launch on Sony platforms, it seems very likely that Sony is offering some form of incentive to devs/publishers to try and promote the PS4 over it's other systems, most often by simply not releasing other versions and making it appear as if the PS4 has a game as an exclusive when it was just a port of a PS3 or Vita title.

I was under the impression the PS4 Storybook Edition had a longer art book, I never realized it's literally the same artbook, but just hard-cover. And the metal slip-case is cool, but not $80 cool. The PS3/PS4/PSV first-run copies all come with the artbook, albeit softcover.

So basically, yeah, it would seem we're getting the shaft on this one at least KOFXIV's Limited Edition is actually a good one.

Gematsu says the shirt is a Large size:
archive.is/62X1G

I'll never forgive Marvelous for giving us the shaft on Estival Versus's goodies while EU and Japan got tons of delicious goodies. You couldn't even import from Marvelous' EU store page either, they'd ship ONLY to within Europe.

They got all the sweet stuff: posters, a double-sided daki cover, mini-figures, and other goodies. I'm still green with envy about it. All NA got was the artbook & soundtrack and a handful of trading cards.

Probably, at this point it's like they're TRYING to kill the Vita in NA, which wouldn't really surprise me since they fucked it up so horribly for themselves in terms of sheer marketing-retardedness alone, not to mention the memory card prices on top of that. I'd imagine they want arguably one of their biggest failures of a handheld to be forgotten in North America.

Truthfully, I don't think SCEA really gives a shit. If Sony needed to create incentives to buy a PS4 it would be in Japan.

It's more like it wouldn't work in Japan because very few companies can afford to have a game bomb that hard - big developers can take hits, but smaller devs live game to game, and combining the higher costs and lack of experience with making games specifically for the PS4 with the low count of potential customers adds up to a high risk of bankruptcy.

DRAGON QUEST BUILDERS CONFIRMED FOR NORTH AMERIC-

archive.is/d0K1e

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I would rather have another mainline game than this minecraft shite

It's not so much the game itself as it is the fact that Vita can't get shit for a retail release hardly, unless it's a Vita exclusive though I was looking forward to this game too. I don't doubt it's pretty fucking comfy on the Vita. And Minecraft by itself isn't so much the problem is it is 99% of the autists who play it. Of course, Minecraft has no real goal either. I see this more or less as an official Dragon Quest mod for Minecraft, but with 100% less screeching-children & autism.

I shiggy

I played this on the ps3.
It's shit, sorry.
Combat is somehow as simple as minecraft and the building is really bad.

If it had a physical release, he could've bought it used.

The last thing I bought from Squeenix was the FFX/X-2 HD Remaster, Used though.

Well now I feel silly. And here I thought we'd finally get something as comfy as minecraft with none of the autism/shittiness in general. back to Terraria then…

that too

The other things about DQ Builders is that it's NOT PSTV compatible.

I can't remember the last thing I bought from Square. They pissed me off that long ago.

Does that have any kind of real objective/goal? Honestly asking, as I did play Minecraft, and the shit burnt me out when I realized the game is by and large for going on the internet to brag about your keen lego building skills. Ain't nobody got time for that shit.

Got to love how a big company like Square-Enix apparently refuses to put in any more effort than they outright need for the Vita. I mean, ideally digital-only releases would just be for developers that honestly can't afford a physical release or when a game is really, really niche (I'm still annoyed that Sega refused to even do a limited physical print of Yakuza 5 for series fans), but Square (and a lot of other big name companies) just use it to screw the customer and save shekels in production.

And it's certainly not as if Dragon Quest isn't a big name JRPG franchise, even if it doesn't enjoy quite the same popularity here as it does in Japan, so it's not as if it's something super niche the publisher may not be sure will sell well.

Might be wrong, but I would assume Odin Sphere Leifthrasir would reuse the old PS2 English script for the parts that are the same between them, though admittedly the new content would need ground-up translation work.

Terraria has a goal of kill all the bosses, and summoning them/prepping for their fight is part of the fun of it. But there is no story or anything. It's got way more content/items/enemies than Minecraft ever did though. It's also more fun to play with people than Minecraft is.

Pretty much. Playing Minecraft solo can be relaxing, sometimes. At this point in its life though, there's too much autism and general shit tacked on to it to make it enjoyable even then.

Trips of truth. Dragon Quest is still a big name all around the world, setting the standard for JRPGs a year and a half before Final Fantasy ever came along. There's no excuse for a massive money-hole like Square Enix, with Sony's own backing for 90% of shit, to NOT have physical releases for stuff. But hey, gotta save that handful of shekels am i right? Consumers and fans be damned.

I wouldn't be surprised if they touched up the script, since they already said that they were rerecording lines that turn out so good. I'm just happy it has dual audio though.

That's more than enough encouragement, though. My friend keeps bugging me with another physical copy of the game, so I'll give it a try.

If you're really interested in Builders, though, I think it's about the time to go poke those Limited Game Run folks, no?

There's no way in hell that SE is going to partner with some little ass startup company like that. Your best bet would be hoping that asia gets an English version.

...

I'm shocked that we're getting DQB at all in the west, let alone on the Vita. I imported it necause I assumed we were SOL.

…the game is really good, I don't know why others are saying it's shit. It's a city-building RPG.

Oh wow, it's actually getting localized. You guys can thank me for that. Ever since I started studying Nip a few years ago, things I thought would never be localized are suddenly getting localized.

Was Digimon one of the JRPGs where everything being menu based like an Atelier or Neptunia game, instead of running around exploring like Tales of Hearts R or even P4G with all the town stuff?
That can't surprise you too much, since people say everything is shit and it shares similarities with Minecraft.

I know this feeling.

When something sells that many more copies on Vita it's hard for even SE to ignore it. Minecraft has always been one of the top PSN games for Vita whenever I checked too. I think the only other thing over here that performed that well, consistently, was SAO:HF.

I can't tell you why Builders is shit because I couldn't even launch the demo on my PSTV (the only demo available). I can tell you why Minecraft is weak, however, and I play the fuck out of that.

Firstly, it's feature-empty. The NPCs, the passive mobs, the hostile mobs are all geared to do one thing: keep you farming. They serve literally no other purpose. There's dozens of blocks of various colors about and a math-dedicated feature in the redstone that lets you create various ways to basically never look at farming ever again save to collect and feed/plant.

But that't the ends. You create your super farm, you create your ideal livestock area. You make various enemy traps or slay the two bigbads of the game and make beacons for anyone playing on your box world…and that's it. That's all there really is to the game.

Again, mobs & NPCs serve no other purpose. No lore, no alternate actions, no reactions even if you kill all the villagers and burn their hamlet to the ground after looting it for bookshelves and a few rare trinkets. Once you're done with Survival/Adventure, all that's left is building lego towers made of mushrooms or traintracks or whatever you feel like in Creative Mode (since you no longer feel like grinding for xstone or ystone). Hell, I myself had plans on building an underwater city and I probably still will but where I was previously excited, I get now that it's going to be a fucking slog of a task which I'll likely feel hollow about when it's done.

THere's nothing else to Minecraft except autistic block building. Which in and of itself is fine…but then you turn to look at the dick-waving attention whoring youtube community, or the various patch of overly-invested (and I mean OVERinvested) types at various forums or image boards, and you get turned off. Not to say all those types are criminal, as some YTers are actually humble & smart enough to get to the goddamned point and not just sit there collecting clicks on vids that are by and large outdated by several years of updates, or on vids that are just bragging about their builds. And some forum goers are sane. But they're by and large the exception to the grandly-autistic rule.

Minecraft is an empty game with no real features that's heavily community-reliant, and the community is almost all a truckloads of kids whose balls haven't dropped and are annoying at best, and autist too invested in the smell of their own farts to be any fun.

If SE managed to duplicate the barebones of minecraft and actually ADD features into its format, then they're already leaps and bounds ahead of Notch's former product.

DQB is more focused. The focus of the game is to rebuild towns, recruit villagers, protect your villages, and explore for blueprints and rare items.

It's an actual game first and foremost. If you can get into the city-building, it's fantastic. The game looks pretty great on Vita too.

I haven't played Minecraft for more than ten minutes, but from everything I've seen it really doesn't surprise me that there's no story or anything. I've always thought of it more like a toy or application or something than a game. It just seems silly to me how people hate it so much over some misguided children and autists who put way to much time into kids toys. It looks fun the same way as playing with Legos or MS paint is and I'd totally play it with some kids or something, but to invest myself like I would a JRPG or something just seems weird. I don't know, I just think that the way so many people get upset over it on here is stupid. I'm sure the vast majority of people playing it aren't like the screeching kids in videos. If I deleted something my nephew made he'd probably just get sad that I would be such a jerk and then start over.

You have an entirely valid point, and to be honest I seldom, if ever, get mad at the kids playing or the YT bragging crowd. It's just that when i was specifically looking for tips or purposes to functions like redstone or enchanting and all I get are 10,000 hits on bragging about some resource-heavy machine build that was obviously done in Creative Mode but they'll lie and say Adventure/Survival, I got testy.

I've got the game for keeps, and it's something I do play w/my nephew. And I understand we have two different ways of playing, though I don't much connect with his style of play anymore. Because of that, I just follow his lead as it's more fun for him than if I try to tie him down and make him attempt to build things.

Dragon Quest also proved popular enough way back when (in Japan anyhow) to spawn a variety of clones, some of them that proved popular enough to keep going and eventually develop come into their own (such as Glory of Heracles). But Square acts like it's a series the west shouldn't be real interested in in comparison to Final Fucking Fantasy. Aside from mobile ports, anyhow, and with them apparently opting to keep accenting the shit out of anything they do bring over (for the main series anyhow), they don't seem to care that fans find it annoying. I swear, it's like they go out of their way to fuck the series over; even with the DS remakes having been made specifically with the idea of finally giving the west V and VI, they still fuck around with it (or let 8-4 or whatever the prior team was do it for them).

I finally picked up Gravity Rush, I was a little worried the game was super short since after two or three hours spent on Auldnoire the next two islands had like two missions each but I just dropped down the column and I loved that.

Yeah, I wouldn't bother with youtube for a game like that. Youtube is bad enough for regular games and thinking about what would posses most adults to make videos about something like that rather than a regular game makes me think that there's probably a only a very small percentage that I'd have things in common with.
I'm not sure what it is about youtube though either that attracts so many annoying people. It wouldn't even be as bad if they were at least original with their garbage, but it seems like half of them can't even come up with a name on their own and just call themselves the angry gamer or some shit, then proceed to use some annoying youtube persona.

I liked Gravity Rush, but I found it kind of overrated. I'm not the biggest platformer fan anymore though, so besides enjoying some aspects of the flying/falling, the art and music and everything was definitely the highlight for me. People who like collecting gems and shit like that would probably have more fun with it.

I guess there's a chance 999/VLR get PC and console versions. I hope 999 gets a Vita one too. It sucks that only 2/3'rd of the trilogy will be available on it. I'd buy everything on 3DS, but I guess there's a horrible save bug in VLR and it looks way worse from screenshots.

That being a boon would require the original translation to be good. Again, I don't play games in English anymore, so I've no idea if that was the case or not for Odin Sphere, but if they're reusing the same script, I presume it's the same company, which IIRC is Atlus USA, who I've heard the most horrible things about.

So, every multiplayer-centric game ever?

How so? It's pretty regularly criticized for controls and performance.

Atlus is hilariously bad with Persona dubs and the honorifics, but Odin Sphere's translation is pretty solid. There are a few oddly translated expressions in the original though. Hopefully they will do another pass at it.

You too? The worst part about it is Japanese games are generally more expensive. Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth is 25 dollars more expensive than the English version, Gravity Rush is nearly 17 dollars more.

Well, I have been playing Dark Souls in English, but that's party because I'm playing with friends and partly because English just fits Dark Souls better.

Fair enough, mostly based my opinion of Atlus USA off the screencaps seen here, which are offensively bad.

The trick is shopping around and patience, picking things up at launch is always expensive, but shit can get cheap as fuck, Bravely Second was going for about 2000 new within 5 months of launch.

screencaps for Persona 3 and 4, not Odin Sphere, to clarify, my bad.

I just didn't find it as fun as other games that people shit on all the time and since people spoke so highly of it and it looked amazing i expected it to be way better.
There was a lot of little things that irked me, but my main complaints would probably be that besides the one "enemy" they're all just pretty boring and feel like they boil down to gravity kicking over and over and that I found those side missions more annoying than fun. They made an awesome world, but besides wandering around looking for gems and ghosts, it felt like there was nothing to do in it.
Seeing how good some people are at the game and how many hours they must have put into it makes me wonder if maybe some things just didn't click with me though. Things like the gravity slide were such a pain in the ass to me, but other people like it enough to even do all the races too, I guess.

Bigger games like that always seem to get cheaper, but a lot of the niche stuff never seems to go that low.

It can admittedly be kind of a crapshoot at times, but even niche stuff can get cheap, Kinki no Magna can easily be gotten brand new for under 1000.

Gravity Slide is an awesome mechanic but holy fuck the controls for it are bad, so many times when I try to slide and steer I end up fucking up my camera so I can't see where I'm going.

Yeah I've seen a lot that do too, but there's always things like the offline version of Ciel nosurge and Photo Kano that never seem like they'll be $10.

I'm just glad it's not really necessary. Sony really liked to shoehorn a lot of stupid gimmicky gameplay mechanics in Vita games and compared to having to swipe all over the fucking screen or something, it seems like Gravity Rush got off easy. (It seems like whenever system comes out with some new function devs always force it's way into games.)

The controls are weird in that they can be frustrating, like with the slide, but you can also get good at controlling the character to the point where it's somewhat smooth. I liked the controls overall, but it could have definitely used tweaking.

Although gravity slide races can be stupid, they can also be a blast at the same time, largely due to just how hard you hit shit while sliding and still managing to win the race. It's fun to combine powers to do races.

I can agree with that, especially considering that's how I got through most challenges. It would have been nice to have some more developed ground combat.

I had a blast with quite a few, but I can see how you'd have issues if you can't get accustomed to the controls.

Although the missions where you use gravity fields are fun as fuck.

Now I see where you're getting "overrated" from. Yeah, you can only take most opinions with a grain of salt. People tend to blow a lot of games out of proportion, and even pan games undeservedly. It helps to do your own research with games you're unfamiliar with.

Honestly, try the game again at a later date. Maybe you'll find something new to like about it.

On an unrelated note, I'm looking for reasons to stay on 3.18. Anyone know of any homebrew news, or should I give up for good? The PSP stuff is nice, but I have a PSP.

Eh, it didn't happen that often, and it resulted in some good experimentation, like with Tearaway.

I think it did. I know that Gravity Rush, Uncharted, Ecolibrium, Smart As, Reality Fighters, Wipeout, Tearaway, and Little Deviants had them, all to varying degrees. I can see how kids and stuff would like Tearaway too, but that game felt really boring to me. I never even finished it. I didn't know I was buying a "be creative with light platforming" game though and even after hours of playing it wasn't getting challenging, so I just had no motivation.

I just don't see why they couldn't let you switch it to normal controls in the options. i can't be the only one who hates trying to "steer" using the gyroscope and using the back touch pad instead of buttons.

I usually don't really believe much of that stuff, but I just thought it looked awesome even without peoples comments, so i just went in expecting too much. I still enjoyed it, but I definitely wouldn't agree with the people who claim it's the Vita's best game.
I'm not Sure why Sony kept pointing out that it was originally a PS3 game that was gonna work better on Vita either. Their whole "vita is just as powerful as a home console" thing is probably why Gravity Rush (and every other game) didn't review that well.

I'd check gbatemp and wololo or something. I barely ever see anyone here talking about howebrew or emulators or anything. I sure wish we could get some homebrew VNs ported or whatever, like PSP did.

Tearaway was designed to use the Vita's functions. That's the point. It wasn't just added to the game. Now Uncharted you could make a case for, but outside of the artifact rubbing, the touch screen controls are optional, or minor things like looking at treasures(I guess this is still shoehorning, though?).

Little Deviants was like Tearaway, where the actual point was to use the Vita features to run the game. I have no experience with Ecolibrium(I honestly thought of Machinarium when I first read it), Smart As, or Reality Fighters, so I can't make a case there. How does it work in Wipeout? I've only played the PSP game. Overall, though, 8 games isn't really much.

I'm guessing that's just how it was designed to be played. Gyroscope steering was definitely touchy. I don't recall ever using the rear touchpad for Gravity Rush, though.

Yeah, bad move. Although that might have been possible if they actually bothered to support the thing and finish their games.

All things considered, WipEout didn't really use the Vita's features much. The touch screen is used for the menus and you can use gyro steering if you wanted.

I thought you had to press both sides to start gravity sliding? You steedred turning the whole Vita and jerked it to jump right? I don't really remember that aspect of the game very well. The only reason I do remember it is because I didn't like it.

There's tons of shit in that game. It was annoying every time I saw a narrow area and knew it was time to tip the Vita back and forth and I don't even remember what they all made me do it for, but those swipe arrows showed up a lot. You can't play that game without getting fingerprints on the screen.

It just seems like they were brainstorming on how to throw every stupid feature in that they could. At least Tearaway seems competant at it, but I wouldn't be surpised if the PS4 version turned out better, since they have to rely on gameplay more than gimmicks. I doubt anyone didn't see their face in sun and thought it suffered from it. There's footage of Yoshida or someone playing Little Deviants though. watching it the very first impression you'd get is how much better it would work with buttons.
I think just that stupid gyro steering. I'm pretty sure I only tried it once, because it was disaster.

There's a bunch of reasons why it couldn't though. The most important probably being that it's not powerful enough and people don't pay $60 for handheld games, so even if it did was wouldn't be economical.

Gravity Sliding only uses the front touch screen. Steering was performed by tilting the device to the left or right.

I do recall that for melee attacks.

If the PSP could run God of War as well as it did, I imagine the Vita could do some work in Sony's hands. We'll never know now, though.

how much shittier is the nu-vita's screen to the OG one?

I don't know having never used the original version but there's nothing at all wrong with the new one.

It's really pretty good. Obviously OLED is going to be best colorwise but I have no qualms about using my new one.

I haven't had the original one, but from what I've seen in comparison shots, the color isn't as vibrant and there seems to be a slightly yellow tinge. Still, from what I know of it, the difference isn't too noticeable unless you have both models on right in front of you to compare, or are really used to using the original model anyhow.

I have a banged up OG one which is why I asked. Yellow tinge? sounds like a deal breaker fam

Well, I suppose you'd be pretty used to the original screen then if you've had it for a long time. There's some image around comparing the opening screens of Ragnarok Odyssey Ace being ran on both systems if you want a direct comparison. Again, it doesn't look bad, it's likely just a factor of the different screen type.

To my knowledge, OLED screens aren't meant to last all that long anyhow. Part of why they're used in devices people tend to frequently replace every year or two, like iphones.

You're not going to notice much of a difference unless you have them side-by-side.

I wonder what happened at Square Enix. They're actually listening and releasing Vita games.

I prefer the Vita 2000's screen over the 1000. The 1000's screen looks beautiful, but is far too bright in low light conditions, the 1000 is nearly impossible to play at night time. Plus the 2000 has a better battery life because they ditched the OLED.

Should I buy a physical copy of Soul Sacrifice, or get the digital-only Delta? Delta is only $2 more than the original, but it has a bunch more shit. I heard there was an English physical release in Hong Kong but the import price will probably be crazy

I would've just trashed the items. Game breaking DLC irks me so much. I don't really care if other people are gonna turn things into some shitty pay 2 win game, but don't try giving me that shit.

I never compared them personally, but people claim Delta is a huge improvement and the vanilla version isn't worth it anymore, since Delta exists. If you're in the US I think it's only like $35 to import from heavy arm, but not play-asia even has it again too, according to the email they sent me, anyway..

*now playasia does have it

Got both and honestly it's not that bad, whites seem a little yellow and the blacks are kinda gray but unless you put them next to each other you won't notice it.

I just realized that the mobile version even costs $18. As much as I'd like to play this, $18 seems like a lot of money for a SFC game. (I wouldn't be surprised if they charged more fo rthe Vita version either.)

Do you guys play Fighting Climax?

I've been thinking of getting it. Is it fun?

can I have that battride war discount code please

I bought it when it came out and had a lot of fun with it, but I really suck at fighting games, so I've been scared to go online with it. especially, since I haven't played it for awhile. I figured I'll try to get back into it after I finish watching Toaru Majutsu no Index. I saw the first season, but once I had the chance to watch the second season I didn't remember what happened, so I put it off rather than watching it all from the start again, but I am now.
I really wish the new BlazBlue game was coming out for Vita too. it's gonna have like a 40 hour long story mode and BB's VN-type stories fit perfectly on the Vita. It's crazy to have a handheld that can actually do fighting games well.

That picture is months old, sorry.

I'm sure they'll release it on the Vita eventually. I mean, every BlazBlue has had a handheld version.

I hope so. I'm just worried that even if it can run it, it won't be able to fit on Sony's tiny ass cards. The last game had the story mode as free DLC since everything together was too big.

Does anyone have Aegis of Earth? Reading the reviews on Amazon it actually sounds pretty fun.

amazon.com/Aegis-Earth-Protonovus-Assault-PlayStation-Vita/dp/B017BB8ZCU

Getting out of that column was a trip for me.
Took me a little while to get through it.

No, but I'm getting it when I get my hands on some extra cash.

I think I will too. It seems like it's largely been ignored even though it doesn't even seem to have any bad reviews. Aksys gave the game a physical release and $30 price tag when half these fucks make their games digital only here too, so it kind of makes me want to support their support (or something).

Heads up, apparently it's VERY buggy and crashes a lot.

I'll be getting it physical, so if it's too bad, I can at least sell it.

The one review said that his cutscenes started getting messed up or something. Hopefully, they patched it or something.

I'll probably just do the same thing. I played through The Wolf Among Us and I don't think there's anyway it could be as bad as that. Fucking Telltale.

The P4DAN collectors edition is $40 on amazon right now if anyone cares.

Is there any mention of a limited release? While i do plan on getting it, I'm probably not going to buy it immediately.

No one ever said anything about print size or anything like that, but looking as niche as it does I figure I'm probably better off buying it sooner rather than later. At least Sorcery Saga hasn't seemed to run out yet.

Fuck. Anyone well-versed in printing out cover art?

I've heard that some printing places will print you stuff like covers and some will see the UPC and say that it's against their policy, but i'd imagine that having them do it would probably make it turn out better unless you have some fancy printer for some reason.
You could always look on ebay if you don't mind spending five bucks as a lot of people sell the manual and cases of games separately. just make sure it doesn't say it's a home made one as people like to sell custom artwork and shit on there too.

I was the user who was having problems with the 64GB memory card where on installing updates the Vita would say that the update didn't install when it had.
Anyway I figured what the problem was. I'd let the battery run flat and the system had shut off after this the install error message came back.
Updates do install so it isn't much of a problem but it does cause some quite severe lag when you're using remote play with PS4.
If anyone else has the same problem you have to rebuild the database and it should solve it. Just don't let your battery run flat

Eh, I haven't picked it up yet. I'm waiting to see if they're bringing DBFC Ignition to the West or not. It looks fun as hell, but I'm just waiting. I'll probably pick it up after E3 if there's no word of Ignition coming west.

Dropping down the column was so fun. It was interesting having to navigate around with no powers at some a few spots, it kept things fresh going back up isn't nearly as fun, i'm afraid. It's a little more rushed-feeling.

Well, with ZTD confirmed for a PC release on June 30th, I wouldn't be surprised to see 999 and VLR follow shortly after. It's weird they're doing ZTD first though, since it's the final game. That's gonna fuck a LOT of people up story-wise.

Eh, Vita will probably get the "EXTEND" version after it inevitably releases next year.

That's pretty damned cheap for a collector's edition. But then again, it is P4DAN, one of the cruddier rhythm games on Vita.

Wouldn't be surprised if it's digital only out here if they do opt to bring it over, but I hope I'm wrong.

First you'd need to find a scan at at least 300 ppi; The Cover Project and Cover Galaxy are usually good about that, but I'm not sure how much of a Vita selection they have as of now (TCP's forums are also useful since it takes time for new ones to get added to the site proper).

As far as printing, you either need a home color printer that's been color calibrated properly (otherwise you risk stuff not matching the colors in the actual file), or you can see if any local places don't mind printing them if you pay them a bit. I've done GBA cover prints (sized for use with old DS cases), and have had to rely on a family member of a friend that works in a college tech lab to print them, but I've recently heard that people have had luck with Office Max not caring if you print them there. Also a good idea to double check the dimensions of what you're printing and make sure they match the usual cover dimensions for the system.

knowing Square, it'll be digital-only

I really wish big name publishers would stop doing that. I mean, I don't mind a game having a simultaneous physical and digital release, or in the case of actually new developers that can only afford a digital release at that point, but Square and other companies seem to love abusing the fact that systems now have internet connections to just cut physical prints out entirely.

Somewhere out there there's probably people saying we should feel lucky to even possibly be getting the Vita version anyhow regardless. And that's to say nothing of potential for translation fuckery, depending on who handles it (if they whore it out to 8-4 like they do Dragon Quest or whatever team handled FF-T0 HD).

agreed. I mean Vita is already on life-support as it is, why kick us while we're down? Hell, it gets plenty of physical sales too, and they fucking know it. They're just abusing the digital platform to save a few shekels, and possibly also, for Sony's sake, to keep owners to buy more Jewmory Cards. It's ridiculous. $55 for a 32GB card is absolutely preposterous when you can buy a 128GB MicroSD for only $30. I'm praying for the day a MicroSD/Vita adapter comes into existence.

BlueMaxima actually made a video DEFENDING that shit too. I suppose I'm not that surprised, since he's a redditard too, but jesus christ. How can ANYONE defend it? Aside from like you said, small-time indies who don't have the capital to put out a physical release.

Never heard of him but I think I'll avoid seeing any of his shit if that's the case.

And as for the small developers, hopefully they would only be needing to do digital only for a short time and could afford to also do at least a limited physical print for subsequent releases.

It's just an opinion, calm down.

His arguments regarding prices are silly, but he had a point in regards to "I'm going to show them how I feel by not buying". Usually, when sales numbers are low, publishers like Square tend to take it as a statement of disinterest, not of some kind of protest. The people who choose to only not buy don't really send much of a message to the publisher.

I appreciate the advice. I did think to check TCP, but they didn't have the cover. They're lacking in Vita covers, generally speaking. So I guess that's the first step. I do have a nearby Office Max, so I'll check them out, too.

...

Again, give the forums a check. People tend to post stuff there long before the actual site picks it up.

Excellent suggestion. I found it along with a couple others. I wonder if Office Max has the right kind of paper.

I've used regular printer paper before, but if you're wanting it to really seem official, you'd need to figure out what weight of glossy or semi-glossy they use for runs of cover prints for the system.

Also worth noting that you might need to tell the computer/printer what sort of paper you're using in printing, since I'm pretty sure there's slight differences between how it needs to print to look right on a given piece paper. Margin space is also something to keep in mind, since you could wind up with parts getting cut off or the entire thing being scaled down to fit within; I don't think you'd have that sort of issue with Vita games though, given how small the case is.

The game is digital only in Japan too

Blame the West and SoA for not advertising it as much and not localizing enough games, the Vita is very strong in Japan since it outsells the Wii U and X1 but the X1 is deader than dead in Japan which caused a lot of people to jump ship

Didn't know that. Was Scarlet Grace digital only too?

It hasn't released in Japan yet.

Huh, for some reason I was thinking it was out already.

I need to git gud

Why aren't you playing GB3?

I heard GB2 was pretty different compared to GB3.

I know all that transfers over from GB2 to GB3 is your GP and I think plastic(?). Sucks that it doesn't have any benefits beyond that though.

Because I haven't finished 2 yet.

Can't say for sure since I haven't played 3 yet. According to the website it doesn't carry over your GP directly, just gives you more the farther you've progressed in 2. As for parts, it either is saying the parts of the last mech you saved, or all your mech parts in general, but reset to Level 0 like when transferring from 1 to 2.

Total Warhammer. Lords of Change just came down from the wastes and tore through my outskirt armies. Gonna have a talk with the greenies to see if they can't fight with me.

A new Legend of Korra game because I hate myself, a new IL-2 game that is like 1946, new dinosaur games and a booth babe

nothing right now

nothing

...

playan: La mulana, Enter the Gungeon

wantan: The new style savvy for 3ds in august

beatan: DS3, was on the final boss for like weeks, cause I stopped playing to focus on finals.

buyan: nothing

The timing was pretty bad. With the amount of people who said they weren't buying it, because of Ignition, I kind of doubted the first game would sell enough for them to even bring Ignition. It was only $30 and came with a mini soundtrack and stuff too, so I figured that in order to play it at least a year early and since there was no guarantee Ignition would even get localized, I would just buy it. I wouldn't be surprised if they only release it digital or something stupid either. If it's physical I'll probably just sell my copy once it's announced and put the money towards the new one.

I really don't get why they would do it that way either. Maybe just to try to get people to buy it that don't, since they don't have a way to play the first two or something?

Yeah, it will definitely be digital only. Even Japan didn't get a physical version. It sucks, but I doubt the game takes up very much space, since it's just a glorified SFC game. What pisses me off is all KT's giant digital games, since all the ones they sold limited physical releases for sold out. I just don't see why they can't do that for more of them. I hope that LRG thing works out.

I just ordered Mind Zero and Jak and Daxter collection because Zero sells itself as Not Persona, and I never played J&D we had a Super Nintendo from launch up until the Wii came out

So should I pick it up, or wait for news on Ignition

As far as I'm aware, the Vita/mobile version is an actual remake rather than a port of the SFC version, but I don't think it's as technically demanding/large in size as the PS2 remake of the first Romancing SaGa. Just my thoughts though. Can't say I've played RS2.

Yeah, I don't get why they're so opposed to just doing regular retail physical prints for stuff like Atelier. While I suppose the PS3 consumerbase has been bigger, they've kept on trucking with localizations, so it's obvious that the games do well enough. Would be interesting to see western sales comparisons of the PS3 versions of stuff like, say, Ayesha, to the Vita one though, just to see how they stack up. I don't know, maybe the difference is just that big.

While I'm not one to start console-war stuff, it sounds like you missed out on a good amount of classic games on Sony systems. I suppose the PSN is a bit of a boon for you, but unfortunately not every PS1 or (especially) PS2 game is up there, and even for some that are, stuff like Spyro and Crash still can't be legitimately put on the Vita (which is fucking stupid).

Pros and cons

For as cheap as it is it probably wouldn't hurt to buy it, since Ignition was never even announced at this point. I think amazon had it on sale for like $15 once. The amount of little fan service stuff is pretty cool too, so even playing single player I had a decent time with it so far. I wish it had a bigger story like BlazBlue or something, but the amount of cooperation they'd need between so many different franchises and stuff, makes sense why that wouldn't happen.

I don't know, apparently the vita version didn't even work right at first and lower powered phones couldn't even run it, so it leads me think that it wasn't made from the ground up for these things. a lot of Vita games are even pretty small though and I don't really view that as something that would have too many assets or anything taking up space. It would seem weird if it's over 800mb, if even that much.

The only thing I can think is that they're trying to maximize profits. The Atelier games seem way more popular than half of the stuff that gets physical versions. I wouldn't think that sales can be far off of what the tons of Neptunia games sell and those all get physical versions. (If things like Blanc vs Zombies even sells nearly as much as a normal Atelier game.)

A fair point. And with the PS1 (and PS2 if your computer's good enough), you can at least emulate. Still dumb that various companies have refused/ignored putting up various PS1 games. The more hit or miss ones I can understand, but ones that were well received (if selling poorly) still not being made available that way strikes me as a wasted opportunity.

Hadn't heard that before, but then again, I'm not sure how much actual news about SaGa games the west tends to get.

Thread's also past bump limit now. Just figured I might mention that.

I've got 1020 yen left on my account and nothing to spend it on. Any good games for under that on the Japanese PSN?

Wait for a couple of more days until potential sale or buy themes
