What do you guys think of Alien Hunters?

i'm the user from a few months back starting the HOLD THE LINE simulator mod, it's gone surprisingly well. I've officially nerfed nades into oblivion and made pod sizes 14, 21, and 28, with maximum attacking ayys at once being 10 (I think unlimited would be quite brutal, even for pros.)

I don't have Alien Hunters yet, but i plan on nerfing their turn mechanic (It's bullshit, just from what i've seen). Tried pirating it and it broke everything for me, had to crack game and no workshop mods that way, which isn't gonna work. Suggestions for any way to get it without spending money or needing to break my game would be nice but otherwise, discussion here.

I'll probably be posting with happenings in-game soon enough, still fixing up some configs from the DLC patch

I loved the first XCOM, haven't played the second yet. Are they finished with all the DLC yet?

One more atleast. Shen's Last Gift.

And when you say 'first XCOM', do you mean UFO, or NuCom?

I also played the first "X-COM" years ago but by first "XCOM" I meant the remake they released a few years ago

Is that DLC like EW? If it's going to change the whole game and add things to vanilla game, I'll wait until it's released and than play the game. If it's just another campaign or just adds a few missions I might as well play now

Rulers have been released and it's recieved a bit of a mixed feedback on either completely loving it because it's so drastically different or hate it because of how bullshit they are since it's basically guaranteed wounds. I haven't fought against them yet since my old campaign broke thanks to the DLC. I was about to finish the game anyway so I'm going to say it was a win.

If you liked EU/EW then you MIGHT like 2. Honestly I felt like on my second run once I knew how to do everything that the game becomes pretty fucking easy once you learn Grenadiers trump all even on Legendary/Ironman.

We're not sure if it'll be an expansion or not. Based on Anarchy's Children and Alien Hunters, probably not.

Considering the way internal files and what they've said… says, it'll be about a month from now when it releases, more or less (day 0 dlc, day 30, 60, and 90, 30 being Anarchy, 60 being Hunter, and 90 being Shen's Last Gift)

We have pretty much no specifics, so i'm just going off a more or less assumption.

God i forgot how tedious changing all of these inis was.

Also this. When i get ayy hunters i'll be nerfing them in terms of their action bullshit but i'll re-work whatever else they've got.

And grenadiers got nerfed the fuck out of in my game. They're primarily aoe still but significantly less bullshit, but required due to EVERYTHING having armor. Non-frag/alien nades do significantly less damage (Excepting acid, which has been set primarily to shredding), ie fire and poison are almost purely area denial (And have had radius and rage buffs as such.)

You can always tweak the game how you want and change it up.

Fuck I forgot about that, the game was supposed to be very soft coded and mod friendly, is it actually like that? How's the modding scene?

That's one of the reason why I'm waiting, the patches also usually balance the game

In my current modded campaign I removed grenadiers entirely and added the Rocketeer to replace along with a lot more other things. The way I've modded my game feels a lot better than vanilla like it's some sort of Frankenstein's Long war. I mean it's by no means balls hard on Legendary but I've been taking a lot more losses than I did in vanilla.

It's so much better than X-COM, man. The modding scene is fantastic and coding itself is pretty easy if you want to learn. The inis are more or less completely exposed and simple enough, also riddled with comments to help you if it's not completely obvious. Love it.

I don't think they'll change Grenadiers much, tbh.

Haven't done any custom classing yet, i'm happy with what we have (though an Infantry from LW style class would be sweet, it probably exists already) but i've done my best to make every tree and combination playable.

Plus i'm DROWNING in aliens.

Oh, and I guess it's worthwhile to note that heavy weapons got significant changes. Shredstorm is not super OP and the best, flamethrowers aren't garbage, and the plasma lance is useful (1-use long range extreme damage super penetrating shot. Good for big ayys, since most have armor, or significantly more if they already had some, and depending, slightly less HP.)

I'm just about ready to boot up the game now and test out what i've done.

How is game performance?

Eh-ish. Best on windows and requires a decently beefy computer, and pretty much nothing can run it with AA on. Theres a few guides.

It was worse after the first patch, then fixed in the one soon after, atleast for me. It eats up RAM badly, due to some poor optimization with what seems to be mods, primarily. A bunch of un-needed files, and it appears to load them into RAM as well, not sure why. There's a little third party thing you can find on plebbit, MemC or whatever that helps clear it out and keep the game running silky smooth mostly. (For me, atleast.)

tl;dr mixed bag, gets worse with craploads of mods. I have 91 running and it plays decently enough.

Like the Alien hunters were supposed to make it so you can't focus fire the shit out them like you would normally do against the larger enemies (Sectopods and Gatekeepers) but it feels like such a hamfisted approach from what I've seen. I can't really comment much on it until I've fought them myself but considering you don't have to kill them does make it a lot more bearable if a bit cheap.

I have an idea for a multiplayer versus campaign I still want to get around to doing but I have no idea how easy the multiplayer is to mod.

Here's a pastebin of all my mods. The only notable changes that aren't in that pastebin is High cover's 45 and Low cover's 30, Sharpshooter and Grenadier have been disabled (Former being pretty shit and the latter being too OP) and my barracks start with 24 men.

Better than it was on release but it's still not great.

Forgot to attach pastebin: pastebin.com/8eFMTWNB

I played cracked with mods.
The mod launcher won't start the game when you click Play, but you just have to have it up and start the game normally. Mods will load.

Workshop mods or nexus?

MP modding is easy. Both players do, however, need to have the EXACT same INI and mod set. It's been done already and bigger squad sizes are attainable.

I like most of your mods, by the way. I share many of them, particularly the weapon ones, but they all have custom stats too, etc. Most significantly would be that railgun and the L95 being high-damage,single shot pierce guns (That i've made buyable and not default.)

A good majority of the weapon mods I have I just don't use and I really don't know why I have them on since the only ones that don't have stats different from vanilla are the M16 and the Advent weaponry.
If MP modding's similar to SP then I might go ahead and start working on that idea soon. I haven't delved too deep into modding yet other than .ini files (although I'm used to that thanks to LW) so I'll have to give it a go.

this is an honest, no-trolling question

i pirated this right at launch and it ran so fucking badly, was so inherently broken stealth-wise (ayys would detect you immediately) and with the stupid time limits and never-ending talking heads babbling at all fucking times was just generally not fun. have the recent patches gotten it to a point where it's actually a) playable and b) enjoyable? at the very least are there mods to turn off the constant blathering? it drove me fucking CRAZY to have an unskippable and repeated voice clip in some missions ("commander! remember those like seventy times you've done this mcguffin defense mission? allow me to forcibly stop you from playing and pan the camera to the place you already know where the thing is and explain what to do with this thing again")

or my personal favorite, the one where the spunky asian engineer says something that could literally be boiled down to "commander, I was kinda thinking of bringing a MEC here to experiment on then didn't"

Stealth is just you needing to git gud, time limits were bullshit and are disable-able via mods, babbling heads are also disable-able. Patches have made it run better and i find it enjoyable. Most cutscenes have been toned down and camera-pulling-away has also been toned down if not removed.

I honestly haven't been impressed by their DLC at all. That includes alien rulers. A few cool minibosses that can be killed instantly by repeaters. Pretty yawnworthy, but still way better than the complete nothing that was Anarchy's Children.

The patch that came with this DLC was GREAT, though. Multiplayer was finally fixed, which is a big deal for me. Now if only people would actually play it…

People play MP. Just they don't have your set of mods and ini tweaks. Try and match up w/ people via discussions.

I'm not particularly impressed with the DLCs, and i intend on fixing Rulers being rekt by repeaters (It's bullshit, but they're losing that action shit too.) And yeah anarchy's children was lame but well, they announced it was going to be basically nothing.

X-COM 2 is PC only.

You didn't have to post here.

When will xenonaughts 2 come out? I loved it that you actually had to send fighter jets around the world to shoot them down and had to stratigize if you played the game.

Though how the alien ships came about you got used to patterns and knew when a big bunch of them would spam attack instead of it being random encounters. Kinda ehh.

I wished there were more mods for armor, though I think xcom has a lot now for armor mods but not much for xenonaughts.

Also wished that local governments would get better trained soldiers and equipment to help you on missions and send their own soldiers (depending on your relations with them and how much money/ resources you help them) so they can advance and sometimes help you on missions.

I dont know but I had a thought that the game show scale down to regions like NA, Central America, European, Africa (2 parts), Asia, and Middle East Xcom teams, and you get money and funds from that region, also get called in to help in other regions on base raids there and terror missions, and these entire can be lost if the aliens build enough bases there and take control of the region by force.

Pirated copies near launch were unoptimized QA builds

Xenonauts 2 soon, is what they keep saying.

Aye, this.

I understand people play it, but the playerbase is tiny. I wish people would unite around a multiplayer mod in numbers, but let's be real…

The biggest multiplayer mod (which is very good) has less than 200 subscriptions last I checked. And it often feels like there's less players than that who have played the non-modded multiplayer since release. The leaderboard starts at like… 300 players. That's beyond dead.

It's a fucking shame because it has so much potential.

There's always discussions to pair up. I played un-modded multiplayer, but that's when it took MINUTES between turns. It was fun, if horrible.

I still haven't beaten a campaign because i continue to get it rekt by mods or force myself to up difficulty/ play with things in general.

Come on now, user. The actual, retail game was an unoptimized QA build, complete with automatic metrics trying to query Firaxis internal servers. It's in a lot better shape now, but let's not pretend the official version was somehow kosher.

Every time I've asked I haven't been able to find anyone. I have some good friends I can play with so it hasn't bothered me incredibly, but it is still sad to see how hard it is to get games. And yeah, I played it a bit on release. It was godawful, but there were some funny mechanics, like codex infinity clones & 0 cooldown teleport, 400 pt officers that for some reason had T3 stats and so on…

I'M NOT EVEN USING CHARACTER POOL ONLY.

THIS WILL BE A GOOD RUN, I KNOW IT!

Maybe i'll play with you sometime, user. But seriously, i've got to get my MP stuff together.

I think the best way to fix Rulers is to give you more stuff to counter them. Like making flashbangs limit them to only movement and shit like that. Make them more vulnerable to vanilla abilities than to outright remove what makes them special.

I don't think rulers need to be fixed at all. Do people really think they are too hard? The game should probably say "don't activate this mission until you have good tech", but really that's on players. The fact repeaters work at all just makes me laugh and take them completely unseriously.

I don't have it yet, so we'll see, but i'll try that as my first fix. Thanks for the idea, actually.

I'm pretty sure they will slip into your campaign regardless if you ignore the mission and yeah, repeaters shouldn't be able to execute them. I haven't got fight against them yet but from what I've seen of them you have only really the weapons you're given with the DLC and lightning hands to counter them.

They don't. I am almost at T3 tech in my latest Legend + Iron-Man and they have never appeared. I heard they will appear on OLD save games regardless of whether you did the mission, but on new games after the patch you can avoid it.

Well fug. They should really have the mission expire and have them come in regardless but oh well. That's Jake's mistake/choice then.

I think that makes it fair. Maybe it would just be par the course for normal easytimes, but Legend early game with guaranteed rulers on the first few missions would be hilariously brutal.

They probably should made it appear at a certain point in time that was paced for tech progression, in addition to removing repeaters from the game, but what the hey, they seem to like letting players abuse the shit out of their game.

Nerf repeaters into extra dmg. 's what i did.

I never finished my XCOM 2 even once. It least I paid only 31-2 dollars for the game + the dlc pack.

Gatecrasher went well.

Wait, that's considered "well"? I guess I need to adjust my expectations.

He got shot once and lost 2hp.

No, like, the pirate copies had a build that a QA leaked. If you've got redscreens on by default, it's not a retail build.

The fuck are you talking about? It still runs like garbage.

There were retail versions that for whatever reason had redscreens enabled. It was all over the 2k forums.

I said it's a lot better than it used to be. It's not great right now, but it has improved.

How exactly because I haven't noticed any difference at all?

I havent played since xcom2 came out…I bought the season pass so i have the DLC….worth playing?

Okay, well if it hasn't improved at all for you that sucks. I am running an ancient CPU (Phenom II 965 BE) and the performance patch made a big difference. Not EU/EW level smoothness, but it's okay.

Play it once then mod it afterwards. I find it's worse than EU/EW because it's terribly balanced and there's some questionable design decisions but it's highly modable and there's been some really great mods. I highly recommend Guerilla war on your second playthrough.

So they made it run on ancient CPU? Big fucking deal. In sense of being playable, it is and only because it is a turn bases game, but it hasn't been even remotely optimized. If you don't want the game to look like ass the game will run likes garbage with very high GPU load that makes the temperatures enough to not have to use the heating during the winter, not that the last few winters have even been cold. And I can uncap the frame rate and run it at higher than 60 if I want to, which makes it that much hotter in the room. And the most annoying is that no matter the settings or the frames the game will just choke at some points and the fps goes down or maybe even it freezes for a second who knows. It is incredible. I can run at 60 and suddenly the game starts running at ~45 and being sluggish for a like half a minute. I can run at 30 and the same will happen, but it just goes down to like 15-20. So they haven't made it load things properly. You can see notice that very well during the long loads on the ranger when the whole game often freezes too.

Engagements are going to be exactly as horrible as I wanted. Perfect.

What's that HUD mod? Looks way more useful than my basic hp display.

It's the loot indicator one.

I HAVE MADE A DIRE MISTAKE.

I can't say I'm a fan of "just add more enemies" approach to raising difficulty, it just tends to incentivize the use of explosives even more. So if you have enough explosives, it doesn't really increase the difficulty.

And it makes grenadiers even more indisposable.

F

Explosives are weaker.
Working on trying to give everyone supression.

Grenades will be more or less obsolete for killing the way they will early game.

First Casualty

Squaddie Sarah Connor, Specialist.
3 Kills, 2 Missions
Died to ADVENT Rifle fire.

...

...

Welp. Flying on the wings of RNG, here.

Expected results.

XCOM2 is the first game I've seen where the devs are actively working on making it worse.

Nexus

Needs workshop mods, not nexus. Thanks anyways.

Yeah, was a shame how disappointing it was. Glad I pirated it and didn't buy it. Went back to longwar after a few weeks of XCOM 2 and kicking it's ass.

Mods will fix it. Eventually.
:^)

DmC
Doom
Fallout 4
Dark Souls 2

Yea, I'm sure one of the hundreds of animu voice packs will somehow make the game work. :^)

I killed all the avatars with repeaters. All on first hit.
It was hillarious when "Doomguy", "Duke Nukem" and "Chuck Norris" just killed the 3 of them in one turn, like they were swatting flies.

Who knows. It might.
/s

Look at Long War. It fixed quite a few fuckups in NuCom.

Now quit shitting on the game. It's better than some games out right now. Yeah, it's got problems, but i enjoy it. I didn't make a thread for a game I hate ;_; i wanted other people to be constructive. You can always talk about how to make it better, tho instead of blanketing as horrible. It does work for me with no kinks aside from the mixed bag that is optimizaiton.

One problem is too much RNG
Loot was RNG based
And got you items which were also dependent on RNG (Like repeaters)
Hacking and hacking rewards were both RNG
So I have a solution:
1. Loot is less RNG dependent, it'll work like Titan Quest where an enemy is using said loot until you kill them to take it from them.
2. Items are less RNG dependent, changing repeaters so they do something else like automatically firing a second shot but having a -20 accuracy penalty.
3. Hacking is less RNG dependent, by making the specialist equip programs which do the hacking, kind of like Uplink.
4. Hacking rewards are less RNG dependent, this just means standardising awards for hacking, nothing special.
I'm also thinking of making a skill tree like PoE but that's way too much work

I find the game incredibly spiteful towards the player. The Ruler mechanic of essentially breaking the game's own rules exemplifies this very well.

I can agree with alot of this.

It is the DaS syndrome and in this case it had Long War that was doing stupid shit just to make the game harder in forced ways and everyone jacked off to it. It is a lack of understanding how difficulty should work and autism.

This makes them useless, since you already have Hair Trigger

So, if I can run Enemy Within with everything on max, will I be able to run 2 with medium or low settings? I haven't bought it because I don't want to kill my labtob

Maybe.

Hair trigger: chance of free overwatch shot when you reveal enemies outside of cover.

Repeater: as old Hair trigger

Did you miss my point about having less RNG? Hair trigger will also be changed into something else.

Opinion Discarded

You're not helping.

Game is optimized like shit, especially for AMD chipsets and even some intel sets run like total ass. It's a coin flip really, google xcom 2 + specs similar to your laptop and hope for the best.

This appears to be an XCOM thread, not an X-COM thread. It is a common mistake, but please learn the difference. It's a pretty important one.

Besides some licensing shenanigans, they're effectively the same series. Please stop wasting board space arguing semantics.

WHAT THE FUCK?!
Is this normal in xcom 2?

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

No. XCOM is fucking garbage.

Nope, mods.

Stick a fork in it, already.

It is for the defence missions. Thanks infinite spawning.

anyone why this is happening

Well, the folder you're looking at isn't the one the game's looking for, for one. From there, go into XEW\Binaries\Win32 and see if there's an executable there.

Maybe it's a 1-3 (based on quality) per-mission free action Overwatch? Move, activate Hair Trigger, and then shoot as usual.

I sometimes have trouble with this when I reinstall long war and a pirated XEW, try opening the XEW folder in your picture and running that .exe

Sure thing, son.

Seems like the installer cannot read from C:\games\ run it as admin or the entire thing to another location.

not working
folder disappears when i abort the install

ARE YOU FUCKING RETARDED OR SOMETHING
YOU DON'T MIX THOSE UP
IT'S A FUNDAMENTAL DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A GOOD THOUGHT-OUT TACTICAL GAME AND SHITTY DICE ROLLING SIMULATOR THAT BELONGS ON A TABLET
SAME REASON WHY DEATHTRACK AND DEATH TRACK ARE TWO VERY DIFFERENT FUCKING THINGS
NOW GO AND GET THOSE FUCKING DUBS DONE

Here are your dubs chef!

THOSE AREN'T DUBS YOU FUCKING BOOF

I GOT YOUR STEAMING HOT PLATE OF DUBS RIGHT HERE

whoooo

I just love the concept of the dlc, because it confirms to me that you are just playing the bad guys. Just saying that going and hunting down a sentient creature for sport and then stuffing and mounting it is and making clothing out of its skin is kind of serial killer-y.

WHOOOOO

ULTRA CHECKED

Nice followup.

My steam install the game is listed under enemy unknown/xew/blah blah blah

Did you download just the DLC by accident or something and not have the base game?

The xenos jack off to the thought of wearing the boot that stomps on humanity's face forever.

I prefer the beaglerush guerilla war + escalation combo.
I also add in my personal favorite mod - "real armor mod":

The result is you try to stealth every objective and get the fuck out, which results in fewer kills, slower leveling, slower loot gain and so on. And the reinforcement pod difficulty scales severely, so you can't just sit around farming kills either.
It's pretty damn good.
I love XCOM the most when a single shot from any enemy could instakill even your most badass highly decorated and armored soldier. That's XCOM, baby!

Yeah, it's not as if you're defending your planet from aliens that want to turn your entire race into goo or anything.

...

i hate the second game. i just cant pin point why i hate it.

its a lot of small changes they made that were bad that built up as i played it.

i have over 80 hours logged on XCOM EU/EW I didn't even make it to the half way point on the second game before dropping the game

Why are ultramarines such faglords?

...

Why should I play this eternally buggy nuUFO release when I could play OpenXCom or XPiratez instead?

Now that Vahlen is gone, the slim list of "reasons why" just got a whole lot shorter.

Whoever the fuck that is was not one of the reasons to not play. The reasons not to play include literally everything about the gameplay.

I don't know what's worse: the fact that I've come to expect that shit from nucom because of how buggy EU was, the fact that that actually happened, or the fact that streamer faggot had to have watched that sequence around three times before he uploaded it and still thinks he missed a 100%.

...

So when's someone going to make firaXCOM but good?
Because firaxis a lazy shit and this game a buggy shallow shit.

there was time when I would have assumed you were making that up. That time is not now.

streamer was Christopher Odd and no I'm not making it up. Was like a weird SJW bait and switch, immediately closed the video.

Might as well ask why play any FPS after Doom or any RPG after Betrayal at Krondor, etc.

Human beings seek novelty, even if the new experiences are poor ones.

any new lewds?

He really has hit rock bottom

There's been new X-Com style content out for a while; as mentioned Piratez (which is constantly updates), Xenonauts…and so on.

As far as X-Com '16 goes, it's very derivative of the game it follows up so I don't really think a "new" experience is the qualifier here.

Flashier works, however.

Nah, I'd say he has another year or two before that, but he's getting there.

I found Xenonauts a really poor imitation of X-COM. It's just a personal impression, but that's one of the reasons I find enjoyment in EU/EW. It has a fuckton of problems, but the fact it achieves a different sort of gameplay means you can play both X-COM (1994) and the new ones without feeling like they're both trying to do the exact same thing, only one is better at it. Xenonauts is pretty much trying to do the exact same thing as X-COM.

What are you, gay?

If you want a poor imitation of X-Com '94, try UFO: Extraterrestrials Gold.

Makes UFO:AI look like a AAA title in comparison…

At least the "UFO: similar name to every other X-Com style title" convention is slowly getting trashed.

Merely doing our duty to the Emperor.

You must be a masochist. Why remove all classes and stack pointless difficulty.
The armor and HP change is sorta nice though.

i just want some hand holding ayyliens lewds

Why isn't the fucking VIP truck explosive-proof, again? Goddamn captain threw a nade at us before it was even open and the truck blew up and offed the VIP.

You haven't known real pain until objectives get blown up by random misses. I've had that happen several times. Also had a "protect the relay" objective instantly destroyed on the first turn by some fire that somehow gibbed the 40 HP relay or whatever it has.

I once had to protect a relay from 2 sectopod squads
Needless to say, that relay didn't last long

I know all of that too. Just lost a critical VIP mission because of it.

It's stupid. Also getting a month 2 UFO so yay. Can't counter it either, only 1 region.

Finally finished downloading, starting the game the first time, no mods. Wish me luck

Reminds me of the time I experimented with modding HP ratios. I basically increased the HP of everything drastically to avoid the early game scaling issues (any damage at all = gravely wounded, either never take damage or have to restart, etc). I also increased the damage of Advent to match the fact their magnetic tech is supposed to be considerably better than XCOM assault rifles–but forgot all about relays. Was pretty funny to see the protect relay mission go from one of the easiest to near impossible.

Good luck, fam. Remember to avoid doing the ruler mission until you are teched up quite a bit.

Remember, the rulers are affected by repeaters.

Bradford's still handsome as hell, though not really a fan of the new voice

Have no idea what you guys are talking about, what's a ruler?

Viper King, Archon King, Berserker Queen.

...

I'll grind(?) before trying to kill them then.

Also while they were trying to revive me, I had cutscenes of the base defense in EW. This was the best moment in XCOM EW for me

Also no spoiler pls, but I hope I'll see Vahlen and Shen again

Tfw running a long-range op with a scout and 3 snipers and your scout gets MCed out of nowhere, leaving you blind

How long does mind control last, again?

Well, you'll see shen, atleast.

3 turns standard, so 2 turns of actions

Good to know, thanks. Was hoping I wasn't going to have to run my snipers out there to fight an army of lancers.

How do I change how a character looks? I can't fucking take this man with me on a mission. Or can't I do while choosing them for a mission, do I need to do while I'm in the armory? I'm pretty sure in XCOM you were able to change it while you were choosing them for a mission

You can, just don't change loadout, do customize, i think. Faff about with some buttons for a second.

There was a edit button on character selection but it was grayed out, probably because I'm on tutorial.

I'll just have to ensure this clown dies for this mission

ah alright. I never did the tut.

This guy was the best in the mission. In pretty much every XCOM(X-COM) game I play I like a soldier and then get him/her in every one of my missions. It was a female Russian sniper in XCOM EW, I even got that solo a mission and bring a character to every mission with her. And when at the end she sacrificed herself I actually felt sad Looks like it will be this guy in the game.

One thing though, he promoted to specialist. Are specialists good? They look more like support class, can one solo a mission?

Unconcious is a bullshit status effect.

Specialists are alright, and hypothetically, can stealth DVIP missions. They're not a combat class really, but are good anti-robots. If you get a sectopod late-game and hack it, he could rampage with it.

I generally prefer to run two-person teams for stealth ops, but provided you give him the phantom armor, battle scanners, etc, i would argue he could infact solo a DVIP rescue, provided you don't get into a fight at all.

You could also get him the Overwatch upgrade and with it he could actually solo entire pods in one turn.

So, I guess Alien Hunter won't add alien desertors into your faction, right?

You can dream.

No, you can't marry the Viper
yet

God fucking damnit. Lost my best sniper, grenadier, specialist and ranger to fucking unconcious.

Specialist went down first and was kept around just incase this shit happened, but she's out, can't be brought back (SLAP THEM AWAKE JESUS), ranger is next, grenadier after and sniper is left fighting an army of lancers and grunts who whittle her down and finally fucking off her.

Here's to you Nickola

...

...

Why would you buy the game user. Why would you do this? Especially after how shit the DLCs are.

I pirated it, I don't buy games before trying them

HELP.

ONLY WITH MILA'S DIVINE PROTECTION WILL MY ANUS BE SPARED FROM THIS ONE

i want this mod

On what difficulty are you playing? I am on the new classic and I just don't find it fun and it is probably because of the new enemies. Especially some of them I find very boring punching bags with dozens of health. I miss the old ayys. I am almost considering lowering the difficulty so I can get over with it faster.

I'm on a heavily modified Classic, personally. Most enemies lost health in exchange for armor.

It's fun enough for me, but there are some enemies that are genuinely super tanky, more than they should be.

Made it through thanks to lucky sniper crit that popped the MEC through his armor. Stressful, but rewarding to rush to the end as fast as I could there.

They have a cum on face facepaint for nasty fucks.

It's like Long War all over again.

YOU'RE GONNA HAVE A BAD TIME

Get some quality of life mods at least, you masochist

Stop Wasting My Time, and a few others are good ideas.

NUDISTO BEACH

PING PONG CIRCULATE

Come on, it's not "Skyrim bad".
I played the game on release day and the only problem i had were the too strick timer and the inaccurate swords.

Firaxis is still far from Bethesda bad qualities.

Not that bad, but it's got issues. The glory of modding atleast, is that we can unfuck most of their shit decisions. Like timers. Those can fuck themselves.

Using Bethesda as a baseline of quality gets you nowhere. At least compare it to a mediocre game.

he was using it as a baseline of garbage, though.

I just say it's still not rock-bottom like Beth…

...

Hey, look, your arm's all the way on mars with how far you're reaching.

You know damn well what he meant.
He is comparing games and companies, he's not comparing food to not-food.

I get your point too, but still.

Fun fact: the naked foots wans't made by modders, but by the Firaxis dev. team.

The L.Lab guys think the devs
purposely want the community to turn the game into lewd!

Sadly the most talented modders still wank and wait for the Fallout 4 CK… waht a fucking waste of time!

Are you fucking kidding me

Is there an easy way to deal with this shapeshifters?

Eh, it wasn't a big deal. When it turned out to be so big and have so much health, I thought it was something like Muton and rip my sniper apart. It only did 3 damage

Just be careful around cars, they can make them explode thanks to it's AoE melee attack.

Scanners reveal them. Usually you can get by without triggering them until the last minute. Just ignore civvies entirely and focus on the pods.

I'm on the Vahlen mission now, did I accidentally trigger the Viper Ruler mission?

My squad is already fucked, this mission was harder than how I thought it would be. When I heard Vahlen, I just rushed it, should I open a save from before and do this later?

From here the Viper King will abuse you until he die.

The Vahlen mission is technically an xp boost mission! It's good for your low rank soldiers to level up, since the neonates are weak.

You can tank the whole place with Central alone, but that will take away the xp from your agents.

The Viper King could be hard, but if you send a buffed up team with the frost nade than you will be okay.

Btw the mission is not timed so you can build a decent team with decent protection before it.

Btw are you play on easy? My ruler had lot more hp and armor…

The DLC was fun, but there should be more ruler, like the Disco Ball Gatekeeper Dancing Queen

How do you do that? There are shitload of vipers there, and they usually bound you

Nah, on the normal difficulty, or whatever it's called. Perhaps it scales? I went there rather early, the guy with highest level in my squad is level 2

...

Central is a ranger with every ranger skill. That mean, you can reaper 5-6 neonate at once and survive the next turn thanks to the untouchable skill ( which mean the next attack will be an automatic miss for the ayys)

If you gave the Hellweave plate the Bound will worth shit for the sneks.

The hp not scale with team level but with difficulty.
If i remember correct at the hardest there was 4 row hp for the Viper King. (as you can see i killed him first with a full OP end game team on the first encounter)

Level 2 soldier for the first ruler is too weak friend. I think you should pick more trained soldiers for two purpose:
1.) Higher levels need higher kill count to level up (the mission is full with weak neonates so it's easy to score kills for promotion)
2.) If you make a minor mistake during the final counter the King can fuck up the whole team.

It's on the normal difficulty though, I don't know why it has less health than your game.

Also items I came with were shit, I haven't reached much item technology anyway, and most of my main crew were wounded, so I didn't really come with professionals here. I thought we would just come here and inspect shit, I didn't except to fight a fucking viper king

I'll still try to win this with as less damage as possible

Easy to answer, i played my third game on Legend (when the DLC came out). :)
I just kinda amazed how low the health bar on normal.

Hellweave plate isn't end game tech. What kind of thing you built so far? Do you have proving ground? If not, than the next thing you build will be that shit.

If you need a few tip for fun feel free to ask!

Have a fun dude! And quick save lot!

Viper King just entered a rift and fucked off from here, was that supposed to happen or did I fuck up?

You did it good!

Without tier 3 weaponary kinda impossible to fuck him at the first time.
Prepare to meet him at the next missions.

Advice: don't rush on the map because the fuckers always wait you on the other end. Kill every pod and go to after them when every thing is quiet.

Nice pics dude!

Not close to good by any means, I lost a very good man there. Cpl. Lars Fontaine, the guy who did the most damage in the mission, and he died for nothing as viper king managed to flee anyway

This mission was total failure, I really should've come here prepared.

I still have the starting weapons. I would have loaded an earlier save but don't like savescumming, gotta live with what happened.

Also do the squad members actually look sad when one of them dies? I think they do, a nice touch

are there any bikinis mods? full nude kills the lewds for me.

Yes, but i don't know the mechanic behind it. When i fuck up missions (get poor rating) they are sad too. When the half team is massacred and thing are fucked up they get the paranoid attitude.

The game has many nice little touches, my favourite is the crew on the Avenger (zoom in to the rooms). I use a mod which increase the crew on the ship so every member of my team is represented and do something.

Of course i have a pretty good pc for that…

I salute to you!
I just can't stand when minor mistakes fuck up my loved squad. This is why i still not finished the game on ironman so far.

Press F

Currently they try to fix some minor bug with the nude mod. Like the not properly attached hands to the torso.
As i saw only one or two guy working on the lewd things.

You can as them or follow they progress on this forum:
loverslab.com/topic/57070-lewd-mods-and-xcom-2/page-19

In short: No bikinis so far. Sorry…

XCOM 1 rebuild with the randomized maps of 2 when?

Actually White Castle and Jack In The Box have much higher rates of diarrhea production even in comparison to the Arches, but I digress.

You'd think modders - especially of risque+ stuff - would try and decouple more from Max Zeni after they tried to handrub modding out of existence a year ago.

They should get a shittons of tilesets first. I kept thinking the entire game was set in this one small suburban neighbourhood and one generic "future" city.

And the retaliation/avenger defense mission missions, I swear they were all set in the same map. Not the same appearance, but the same layout too.

...

Either this game is actually hard or I really got bad at these

And it can disable weapons and clone itself, are you fucking kidding me

There is a difference between difficulty and poor game design.

Game says VIP is there but I can't see anything, is this a bug or is there something else I should do?

I also checked the lower floor but there's nothing I can do here, there's the corpse(?) of the man I used skulljack on but I can't carry him or anything

He appeared when I hardly got my team to the EVAC zone at the last turn.

DID YOU NOT SEE WHAT THE FUCK I WAS AGAINST THERE BRADFORD

I'm pretty sure the game's making fun of me at this point.

You're also terrible
Don't do any story mission unless you're ready for a jump in difficulty.

Hard to disagree with after seeing the result of the mission

You just meet with the sexiest interdimensional bitch in the galaxy. Isn't that great?

Strong enemies who are not fucking Bethesda tier bullet sponge now "poor game desing". Give me a break causal!

VIP's could be hide behind object, which make them hard to detect from far. Same thing goes for prisoners in cells. You wont see them until you open the cell door.

The game only hard if you don't know the nemies abilities and tactics. The difficulty wont matter after you know what you need to use against them.

For Codex bitch:
Flashbang disable their tricks
They are soft, which mean they could be tanked with heavy firepower

And as user said above, dont rush the story because it would drop the hardest enemies at you very early!

You doing great so far for a newbie. Believe me!

Advice for the next ruler:
Don't let it close! if it need than rather fall back as much as you can!
Don't group your team! AoE could kill your whole party
Same goes for the last ruler too

The timed missions are bullshit!
I advice to use timer tweak mod which give 3-4 more turn. Other wise you will always be forced to rush instead of planing ambush and other sneaky tricks.

Yeah that seemed to be the case. That fucking retard should have stopped hiding when I had killed all enemies then, if he actually ran to the EVAC point he could have got out with us, there was literally no time, I could hardly sent my team to EVAC point when there was no turns left.

I don't think I'm rushing it, I've been playing it for hours but I haven't even made contact with South Africa yet.

I actually like timed missions, they put pressure on you. Like how it would be in real life, you have to be quick or you fail. I like this system more than other games, where they give you 10 minutes for a 5 minutes task and where you always succeed.

This was true for previous XCOMs too, I like this feature.

Also I just got Serpent(Viper King) armor, looks pretty interesting. While customizing my units for a mission I accidentally clicked launch mission button and sent them half assed, I think I'll kill myself.

I'll just stop playing for now, it was enough. The game was very fun though I liked it. But it looks badly optimized, my computer is pretty good and even I got stutters from time to time.

You remember how they said the Witcher would be made optimized for 30 fps and then everyone raged and they said will totally not be like that except on launch if you didn't have a gtx 9XX you could not run it above 30? It is certainly not as bad as The Witcher on performance, but that patch line might explain a lot of it.

Why the fuck did I think it was a good idea to play with mods?
(Can't see in pic related but they all survived)
WHAT THE FUCK.
I think I need to start a new save.

Those missions are fun as fuck if you know what you're getting into and plan accordingly. Plus, free rookies.

I spawned pretty close to the VIP, was in an area with a lot of full cover and elevation in a chokepoint, and just Overwatched the fuck out of the bad guys.

It's probably a lot worse if your super early-game and have only Rookies and Squaddies, though. By the time I had it, most of my guys were Corporal, so it was a bit more manageable than your clusterfuck.

Ok, this made me hard.
Start to list the mods name you used for this gory glory starting with those sweet armors.

Not him, but I can recognize the goggles and NVG from Capnbubs' cosmetic pack (nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/116/?), and the mission is from the Additional Mission Types mod (steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=647242867).

Sorry about the second one being Workshop, the one on the Nexus is apparently outdated.

I hope you have grenades.

But I liked Vahlen

Have they fixed the infuriating pauses which occur when you perform almost any action and which make each battle last about twice as long as it should?

About the previous xcom ending, was this guy serious about the volunteer?

In XCOM 2's canon, EU never happened.

nades got nerfed and i changed pod sizes down because it was flat out impossible.

It wasn't a surprise for people who watched the ending cinematic frame by frame. You can clearly see that when the ship explodes the volunteer is no longer there.

Come on now, user. You can do better.

wait til you get ufo missions faggot

There's a mod that disables rulers to be killed by repeaters…
steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=683125051

Which is a damn shame, because XCOM 2 is shit, storywise. It seems like a great premise, until you actually start getting into stuff, and realize the whole lot was completely and utterly wasted.
I want to see Volunteer go out and fight super-aliums or some shit.

Any modded classes that you guys like? I've been using void specialist, samurai, and anarchist. Each has a very different playstyle without feeling too overpowered.

Samurai makes swords worth the risk, void specialist is good for buffs, nerfs/dots and anarchist is a utility grenade focused class that lowers damage on grenades in return for more grenades. Works well with frost grenade.

I miss those threads.

I don't want to post in these threads often because I feel like spamming, but if I don't they simply die

Here, have a few Bradford pics, if Brennan allows me to upload them

It's inevitable.

The story has little mystery.
Everything is crystal clear and since the third game will be Terror from the Deep remake there are no speculations about the next step in the story.
i would love the "this time we invade the ayys" as Bradford said randomly, but nope, not now

The DLC's not give enough new story elements. The first two was Elite Soldier Pack 2.0 and Slingshot 2.0
Which mean the third and last DLC should be Enemy Within 2.0 which would be great!

Still don't know shit about Exalt and because of that there are no "they did do nuffin" discussions.
Advent is clearly evil, however i think there are multiple factions between the Elders too (see the last mission where their argue over you). Hopefully the freed Advent hybrid troopers will be joinable units in the third game.

Still no lewd mod dumping. It's a shame but if something really push the Bethesda discussions than it's the waifu fags with their lewd shit.

In short: the game is decent but since the whole story is the old games remake there are little to discuss. One half of Holla Forums is not really like this game, and other half is not enough autist to discuss about the "deeper lore" things.

Just see the Morrowind stuffs in here (and they have the chim meme for fag-magnet)!

P.s.: Dumping borderline furry porn is not discussion!

What facility should I build as the second one? I only had the first one built, the one that you use to make engineering projects, which is required by one of the earlier missions.

I want to go with with one, I want to cap my squad limit as soon as possible, but would one of the others be better?

Guerilla school is probably best for you right now.

Yeah that's what I went with

Also I just had met mutons only one mission ago and now in current mission I get fucking Bane? Is this how it's supposed to happen or did I fuck something up again? I feel like I screwed up everything

You did the story missions too early, and now you pay the price.
dat's xgom :^D

Did I? These are the current objectives and the date is May 25. 2035. I try to hold story mission and do other shit, like searching supplies, establishing contacts etc. But everytime I try to do something, that bald fuck gives me a mission. Or Bradford does, a new target for us or someone is raiding us etc. Like every fucking five days I'm getting a new mission. I do them and try to return to whatever I was doing but this time they give me another mission, as far as I know because of shit like this I've been holding on the main mission forever. Even only contacting South Africa took shitload of time

He talk about the Vahlen Mission.

Lady "Bane" drop a pretty cool looking armor, you just need to recolor it to look cool and not lame.

Same goes for the Snek suit. Remove the furfag helmet and paint it red!

Are proximity mines still broken pieces of shit that can't hit multiple pods?

Is this game anything like Xenonauts?

Barely.

What?

Now they're broken pieces of shit that can't hit anything because they got nerfed into the ground

I am so lost.

No fun allowed. Now bend over and take that Alien dick Commander.

There are a few quality of life mods that I would highly recommend, even for a first run.

steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=621376448

steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=629910798

steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=618669868

steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=651306416

This one as well.
steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=621695447&searchtext=OVERWATCH

Snake armor looks decent too if you remove the dumb helmet, which I only now just found out you could, and customize it.

This one too.

Isn't that the thing what i just said?

Mimic beacon was nerfed to useless, not the mine! That shit was balanced, so it's not an insta win after you spam it with full Salvo demo squad.

I still remove half blocks with that shit!

I don't know how you manage to pull that off, but for me it's still hit grouped pods. Of course i don't use increase pods number mods.

No, wait for Xenonauts 2.
They already have Unity 2 screenshoots about it.

Do you mean unity 5 screenshots?

Also do you em? Can't find them

Don't be mad at me, but i not really have the time to dig the forum…

Here is the link: goldhawkinteractive.com/forums/forumdisplay.php/1-Goldhawk

It still eats at least 2 shots from everything and has saved my ass before. Its just not as strong as it was.

...

It wouldn't be so bad if Firaxis were actually fucking doing something with the game. We got 2 patches so far, and the first one only because they fucked up the performance at launch.

I don't want to post more here as I already have (29), but I don't want this thread to die either

Have a bump with some Bradford and not Bradford pics

I already started and played the game for a while. These mods look like they are for utilization(?) but still, when playing a game for the first time I want it to be close to the vanilla as much as possible. I only use bug fixes for the first time but I don't think this game needs any

pls no

does it still have memory leak issues with voice packs?

...

And a Wraith too while floaters are busy running away killing civilians. Great.

Shameful.

Do this game have any good costume or voice mods?

Well, any good mods in general.

that is a big alien
