Why you need tit to be backwards compatible? As someone who mainly plays on PC the Wii U is the only worthwhile console for me this generation, however, it really doesn't have that many games. And I guess the best ones get ported to NX anyway (Smash, Mario Kart, Xeno, Zelda).

There's a good chance that was an intentional reference to Skyrim alluding to what the game is doing. Remember when Todd said there were over 9000 individually modeled assets in Oblivion, there aren't, that was a meme, and I've seen people complain that it was a lie.

It really doesn't add much. It has utility for maps and other stuff like streaming [but like PS4 did, you can just put a smartphone cradle on a controller for that], but it's superfluous for a console set up.

Well the new president of Nintendo said it isn't a successor to the Wii U or 3DS that it is a "new way to play games". So they might use that as an excuse. Although they said the same thing in comparison to the DS relating to the GBA but it did replace the GBA and the DS could play GBA games.

Every Nintendo console since the Gamecube have been using similar hardware – the same PPC750 CPU and an ATi/AMD GPU.

It's funny how many people believe this is some knockout argument for the Zelda lore in general not realizing it's a) pretty much meant to be a joke since it's very ironic (which people actually point out) and b) at the same time quite clever. The Zelda universe is a world of gods and magic, not of logics and evoultion. People that played a Zelda for longer than a minute should know this.

games have fucked up scale. and they don't understand that terrain features don't happen like pasted clip art, there are hills leading up to mountains and erosion features.
