I hope the family centric DC stories will continue, and will generate a more friendly and "nice to read" stories and new generation. Just like John and Damien turning out to be a comfy new duo.

Marvel probably will try to copy it just to save themself as the biggest loosers of the current years fiasco ride. But since they couldn't wait and understand how DC builded slowly and safely the new characters, they will fail flat.

Genuinely, the most absolute shit, trash comics will be the ones people treasure. By simply virtue of how few there are, but also because they will function as a perfect time capsule to what the politics were like back them. After that, will be any comics that ended up giving birth to popular characters.

I agree. Clark's dynamic with Lois and Jon is fun to see, I wouldn't mind if they made a series about it. I could picture it being profitable, just a comfy super-hero story of Clark teaching Jon the ropes. The occasional story where Lois activates berserk maternal rage if Jon is in danger.

The fucking IRONY is that Marvel fucking INVENTED the Super Family (At least as an Ongoing) but fucking killed it and made it horribly dysfunctional with Fantastic 4.

Also they are currently trying the thing with Spiderman, but again they can't help but make the family dysfunctional, and more as a way to try to make Mary Jane kick his ass as opposed to interesting family Dynamics.

I don't think so, there are digital copies and reprints of Detective Comics #1 and so on, but people still want the original physical copy. It's not about having the ability to read the thing, but having the original.

What I think will hurt the long term collectibility of current year comics is that three are no kids reading them. Silver and bronze age comics had tons of kids reading them. You need that nostalgia driven portion of the market as a foundation demand. They're the ones most likely to pay higher prices for the convenience of not having to scour cons, shops and craigslist for those rare finds to build a collection. I hang around a few speculation communities where some of them get caught up in flipping cover variants on ebay. They will try to push the hype about low print runs leading to scarcity, but scarcity isn't worth shit without demand.

I think nostalgia as the reason for collecting was a driving force during the initial, first wave of collectors, not it's fueled by pure hoarding autism.

Pretty much. The Silver Age was whimsical and fun if you could turn your brain off for a moment and just go with the flow of things. Hell, even the Dark Age at its edgiest and most excessive had a certain candor about it. The was an earnestness about it that made it "click" in its day and even now we remember it with amused fondness. It's totally different from the CURRENT YEAR bullshittery, which is a cynical exercise in solipsistic masturbation by people who are effectively dead and empty inside hired by a dying industry that doesn't give a flying fuck anymore.

That's because most of them were mediocre garbage. The crazier books, like Hellcat and America, will live long in the consciousness of comic fans on virtue of their weirdness. Stuff like Black Panther and The Crew or The Champions will rightly fade away because of their dullness.
