Why doesn't DSP make it he's shtick to be bad at games? That's universally the reason why he's famous, everybody knows it, and his "this is how you don't play" videos almost always get more views than his normal videos.

Nothing about DSP is an act. Well, maybe he comically overreacts to things, but he's genuine most of the time. My proof is in his Telltale Games' Walking Dead playthrough, specifically where he gets really, really into it when the little black girl is in incredible pain as she performs some minor surgery on herself.
So let's say he's acting, like 99% just an act to be funny, but off camera he's a normal guy. DSP is a fictional character he made up, with all kinds of qualities and traits and mannerisms that make him repulsive, but maybe entertaining to watch. He goes into each video with a little list of what he's going to do: maybe this time he farts loudly onscreen, next time he makes a gross comment about a female character, then calls his viewers faggots, etc, etc. But what kind of healthy mind, just doing a bit, actually decides to laugh at a child in incredible pain? Even if it was improvised for the scene, what kind of person, putting on an act, says 'yeah, my viewers want to see this.' It goes past the crude, obnoxious character into someone actually despicable. He has to be the person he is on camera, it's not an act.
