I've talked to plenty of leftists who think like this but they strangely never understand that a reaction follows progressive/socialist degeneration. Plenty of leftists look up to the French Revolution as a model of "the people vs the rulers" but they have never even heard the word Thermidor and they seem absolutely blind to the violence and carnage revolutionaries make.
I think this is because they're unwilling to grapple with the JQ- it's a huge component to all the problems facing us, but if they don't even know what it is how can you create a program to respond to it?

Perpetual revolution. They can't see anything outside of their bubble because their bubble is never-ending change. It has no end goals, or it has end goals that are unachievable by humanity. What the left doesn't understand historically is how much faster the world of politics moves with the advent of new media.

I mean, just look at how much the world has changed in the past 100 years with new technologies, then look at how much it has changed in the past 20 years.

I really didn't comprehend this until my mom's new husband and I had a long serious discussion about politics and he flat out told me that he was scared of Trump solely for the reason that the world of politics moves a lot faster in the information age.

He's 65, I'm 24. But the left doesn't really give a damn what their elders think so they'll never really know how fucked they are until our generation of patriots starts occupying national office. They'll die thinking they were the "enlightened" of their generation just because they had access to the internet.

In the 60s and 70s, the country was still overall deeply conservative (by today's standards), while the large cities and college campuses were tiny pockets of blue filth in a sea of red. But look around: a lot of what the beatnicks, their younger brothers, the hippies, and then the free-wheeling muhdick disco druggies of the 70s has become the standard, with regard to behaviors and attitudes on various subjects (e.g., race, sex, role of government in society, and so on). They really did transform society from the late 50s to the early 80s; they managed to change the way a lot of people saw a lot of different things. The only thing that never took was their peace/love, anti-war stance, probably because there's too much damned money to be made from war.
It was no small feat, what (((they))) did, even if it took decades to finally unfold. Two (or three) generations of people had to be born into that ideological cesspool in order for it to take root. The culmination of it comes in the form of the modern SJW - that is the monster (((they))) created with their psychological warfare. The backlash has been severe, as we see unfolding before our eyes.
