How will Communism/Communists survive the next century...

How will Communism/Communists survive the next century? I hate to be that defeatist guy but Fascism and other forms of Right-Winged rhetoric are awfully present in our society and seem to be the dominant ideology at the moment, especially with the lixuidated left posing next to no threat against them.

The True-Left is long dead, sure, we are having a small surge in society but Marxism is not taken seriously and even with the collapse of Capitalism drawing ever closer, Fascists have ripe conditions to take power over any serious Leftist organisation or movement.

We're dead in the water as it stands, unless we manage to secure support soon, I don't see things looking up for our movement and cause.

So, how are we going to survive this onslaught from the Fascists? Any plans of action? Any thoughts on the matter? I'd like to be proven wrong on the issue, some statistics or some shit would be nice. Just a thought anyway. (even though we have this thread 5 times a week)

Ideas are bullet proof, comrade.

Also I have no idea either.

the ideology of the oppressed will always reemerge so long as there are still oppressors

When you realize right-wing ideologies are only popular when things seem to be going to shit, it's not a concern.

They will have a hard time being relevant when immigration dies down and people get tired of being shot and disappearing for failing to live up to some spooky social norm.

We're gonna have to cave in some fashy skulls then aren't we.
Remember to get fit, get read, and get ready.

Like how the future is going to be shit? Unless you're some Fukayamist who can't see the total lack of preparedness in capitalism for the coming resource shortages and climate change.

Give up on the lower/working classes. Stop alienating the middle classes. Considering their numbers in North America, Europe, and China, etc. they are the largest class of people with the means to actually do something/actually care.

Imagine a boot stamping on a human face - forever.

Middle class has already chosen fascism tho. It's a prerequisite for someone who didn't inherit their class to be part of the middle class, and 90%+ of the people who do inherit middle class status are either fascists or at least unwilling to fight fascists, and those who show signs of dissent are quickly blocked from meaningful access to power.

Unless some great force is willing to sever a lot of heads, the game is over.

Is it because the middle class is comfortable with their lot in life and wants the state to continue it's protection of it? Newbie to the Left, here.

remember the great depression fam
in burgerland all the kids voted he-who-must-not-be-named; socialism is the future.

fuck off idiot

More like the middle class is too afraid to lose what they have, and the middle class is too attached to their status over the lower classes. The very thing that defines the middle class is their assumed sense of superiority over the lower class.

I don't believe it's just material conditions that define class, which puts me at odds with Marx and company, Even though teachers are paid peanuts, socially they're well above someone who is a factory worker or service industry peon, and teachers are awfully quick to defend their own assumptions about the world and who belongs where in my experience.

That's not to say the middle class is entirely beyond redemption, but they'd have to be willing to topple institutions that perpetuate their social rank, and that simply won't happen. There couldn't be for instance a mental health code which is clearly designed for population control, or an education system built on credentialism which produces 80-90% failures by design.

Well, I agree with you here, but that's why there needs to be less alienation. It only helps silence the dissenters.

I disagree, I think the any future major societal upheavals will be instigated by the middle class. China specifically.

Robots and UBI

Communism cannot thrive in a society where 80% of the workforce is in retail, management, administration or services. The entirety of western society is dependent on the dominance of finance capital, globalized industry and intercontinental trade. Disrupt that, either with revolution or with the inevitable collapse of capitalism, and people will either eat each other or rally behind a strong leader to exterminate their 'enemies.'

The future will be with the anarchists, either in acts of sabotage and anti-hierarchical violence in the cities, or in attempts to form sheltered communes and cooperatives in the countryside. The future is not Socialism or Barbarism, it is Anarchism or Annihilation.

I prefer annihilation, tbh

How is this:
not barbarism?

And why won't there be violence in the country and communes/co-ops in urban areas?

...

>Hello there, fellow Leftists, have you ever considered that our degenerate noble cause is dead, especially compared rising and indomitable strength of fascism and the far-right?

...

Maybe in China, but it will just lead to a more porky-friendly policy over there. The middle-class Chinese probably see the peasant factory workers as little more than animals, and they literally can't see them as anything elseā€¦ in that regard they're no different than Americans, when push comes to shove. It's too much for the middle class to view the lower classes as political and social equals.

This, before trying to change the world, we have to start on a local scale.

You won't.

Communism is a spook.

Fascism will inevitably die down once the far right gets into power, cracks down on brown people, and conditions don't improve as we descend into neoliberal dystopia since brown people are obviously not the cause of it. Once that happens either capitalism will revert to its less extreme modes (Keynsianism, social democracy, etc.) in order to survive, or will keep going down the current path leading to mass poverty and inequality, which will foment socialist movements.

We will fight
for our right
to Party

as a Marxist I can honestly dig this.

The problem is that Marxism is an anachronistic mess that needs to be deprecated.

Start over from the beginning and take what we can. We need to focus on seizing control of emerging automation and augmentation technologies before the bougies can entrench themselves with them.

I agree, we need to adapt socialism to the present day instead of rehashing Marx. It will still be a bloody mess to remove Porky, but it's either that or we're all damned.

I don't believe it's just a matter of Porky though, but of fascists who consciously choose an unjust an unequal world. It would take over a century to fully dislodge fascism's entry into academia, and that's if we start now. Right now academia has largely sided with neoliberalism with a minority of explicit neofascists (ecofascists, eugenics pushers, those sort). The former can and must be discredited, but the latter can only be dealt with through swift violence.

kys.

...

yeah, call me when you come up with a better way to analyze the contradictions of capitalism than dialectical materialism, you porky ass anarkiddie piece of shit.

- Karl Marx in a speech addressed to the International Workingmen's Association, 1865.

It is very possible that we might see a Fascist takeover (in the first world anyway) and it'll be pretty ugly. It already happened in the first half of the 20th century. But eventually times of crisis come, shit happens and the proles could seize the MOP and the State; but they only will take power if we put all of our efforts in generating the conditions for it to happen: in building the party (or parties) of the working class, and the mass organizations that will allow us to take over. Get over this defeatist shit and get organized. Today we can't do much to stop the fash, but what we can do, is keep going on with the long task of revealing the contradictions of capitalism to the masses, and recruiting people for the revolutionary endeavor.

Uninstall yourself

So long as capitalists are so secure in their power they find it no threat to gestate the next generation of left radicals within them, we'll survive. As soon as capitalism is direly threatened, we'll see a "sudden" reversal in that behavior. People talk about the crisis of capitalism and so on but if it were serious even professional mystics like Zizek would be silenced. We haven't experienced another disruption like the Great Depression, not yet. Then we'll see.

Shut up faggot. Every fucking time there's some self-absorbed prophet of anarchism in residence. You can't escape capitalism and you can't sabotage it. You retreat from mass organization and class struggle because you never had the chops for it in the first place, fucking egoist. Spontaneous, collective organization is always possible, and it will be up to communists to seize the moment.
