I've recently replayed Morrowind and am thinking about replaying Oblivion even though it's kinda shiet tbh. What's the objectively most enjoyable way to play Oblivion?

SOMEBODY ONCE TOLD ME

Here come the porn mod advertisers

bump

There was some visual mod which totaly convert the landscape. Besides to the broken engine and bugs that shit just made feel it is a different game.

Sadly since that was years ago you need to search for it on Nexus. But don't worry, it will worth it.

Bethesda can't world build shit since Morrowind

...

I think you're talking about Unique Landscapes.
I also recommend one of the various jungle mods, too. And a damage multiplier mod, because holy fuck are those health sponges unbearable.

THE WORLD IS GONNA ROLL ME

There's a mod where it gives all NPC's standard classes.

It was pretty fun, I think it was called daggerfall NPCs or something like that

Honestly, having played all of the Elder scrolls games (fuck getting the first two to run, it took forever.) Oblivion is still my favorite by far. Its the first one I ever played and i get such a rush playing it. I think its true that you love whatever game you played first in the series. Its still the standard I measure a lot of gaming experience by.

I think I will go start a play-through right now. Mod suggestions?

Anime katana mods.

Don't.

the website knotts used to run, somethingfornobody or whatever, it had pretty good mod guides and links for other good mod guides

idk if it even still exists though and it doesn't show up on google so either it's delisted or doesn't exist

Get the mod that makes character faces look non-shit so you can make your perfect waifu.

Also get the XP mod. It's a much better system than Oblivion's default leveling.

Yeah, get the japanese mod that adds elemental weeb blade magic.
Why the fuck not?

probably fiercely fucking inebriated

oscuro's is alright

Watch out for instability, Oblivion is the least stable TES title.

I seriously hope that the content described in this is made up.

STEALTH ASSASSIN ARCHER

Avoid illusion spells, they're too strong against the AI.

Here's my load order. Six years running it and it's steady. OBGE was incompatible with my setup, so I deactivated it but kept it around in case I ever wanted to try it again.

Oblivion Character Overhaul is what you want for better NPCs.

I will never escape these autists.

...

I hate you.

Of course it's going to work well, you've barely changed anything.

I don't. It's literally the reason I taught myself to build a PC, to play sex modded oblivion, fuck, I even learned how to use blender because my 17 year old self was such a horny bastard I wanted to make my own 3d models for oblivion and made my own maps in the construction kit.

To be fair I never modded morrowind.

At least you got some skills out of it.

Yeah, I forgot I trimmed most of the gameplay and quest mods that added scripts to my save over the years. One plus Oblivion had over Skyrim is that you can just take those out without having to worry most of the time how it's going to bloat your save down the line.

It's too late. It's always too late.

Alright so I downloaded the most recent torrent for oblivion, threw in some mods (can't even really remember which) and have been testing every so often but it all seems to work.

Now I find out there's a mod manager which apparently makes things easier than drag and drop in the right order. Tried it and suffered fucking webm related. I was just holding down enter for about a full minute and decided to just fuck it and brute force my way through like any sane person.

One thing that really caught me was some female body replacement mod that had a fucktonne of different body types including tiny a-cup flat chests in the download page. Then the actual files have four choices ranging from small moon sized tits to jupiter sized tits. It actually made me mad.

Thanks for reminding me of this game, OP. I've never really delved into modding before and now that I have a decent PC this'll be a good time to try it out.

I'M ANGROLOCK GRAN BALLAG, THE EMPEROR'S DEATH HAS AFFECTED US ALL, HAVE YOU READ THE BLACK HOUSE COURIER, I HEAR THE GREY FOX IS FRIENDS WITH THE HOMELESS, HEAR ABOUT THE HERO FROM KVATCH, THERE'S OBLIVION GATES OPENING, THE COUNT STAYS INDOORS A LOT, WHY DONT THEY LEAVE US ALONE WE AREN'T HARMING ANYBODY, BY AZURA BY AZURA

get the fast arrows mod if you're going bowman

keep the potato faces

Unlike Skyrim, Oblivion can be fixed and turned into an RPG with a lot of depth and an intricate combat system. And I don't mean to say that those are the only options. Oblivion has mods for everything - no really - every play style is catered to including things never explored by FPS-RPGs like economics. Yes, you can install a mod that lets you jew a city to death and you should try it, maybe not the jewing part but you can play your adventure and watch the city you do business with the most grow and prosper. The roles NPCs have on a city now actually matter, as it should be. But what if you have a lot of custom build buildings with their own functions? Wouldn't that interfere with something? Well, maybe not. Actually probably not. It depends. The community has been around for a very long time and as such the most popular and well-crafted mods are almost always compatible. And if there's no official word on compatibility you can use BOSS and Wyre Bash to be sure. You will be downloading and installing a lot, that's for sure. But it's worth it. Oblivion at its best has everything morrowind has and more except the setting that makes morrowind great. You can't fix a sub-par story like Oblivion's, but you can fix everything else and add on top of it until it's indistinguishable from vanilla. You can supplement it with tried and true community quest mods. There's just so many.

Or you can just hop over to loverslab and make one of the most intricate and deviant porn experiences to ever be experienced. Make two installs and do both. Shit gets weird.

The bottom line is that Oblivion by itself is a worse game than morrowind and arguably skyrim give or take a few things, but it's enjoyed the freedoms of 2004 official modding tools that lets it shine and makes it the best and uncontested RPG experience. It set the standard for what mods can do and is the reason why "mods can fix it" became a thing. It's a shame that skyrim will never be more than a screenshot simulator but that was bethesda's design, ensuring the potential for modded skyrim would be limited. Bethesda just doesn't want another Oblivion unless it's grounded close to its official release, like Skyrim always will be.

I remember doing something like this. Once CM partners got fleshed out I used the guide for making your own NPCs and made my own adventuring party of custom NPCs. A group of 5 slut elves doing adventuring things and various custom NPCs occupying my real estate from across the land, all living in structures that came from the community.

I think I miss that the most since I put so much into it and then lost the installation to data corruption. I like many have re-installed Oblivion tons of times but nothing is like losing your install without a backup. That's when you learn to back up everything or lose it all. There's no telling when Windows decides it's had enough of your waifu escapades.

I haven't heard of any of these mods. Do we have an 8/v/ oblivion modding guide?

You installed mods before using the mod manager correct?

Also, use wrye bash and boss load order to fix you shit right and follow this guide

It's amazing what one can do when they think with their dicks.,

you can get fashionable and faaaabulous in oblivion

The mod you're trying to activate is prompting you for permission to overwrite loose files in the Data folder. Since TES4 keeps most of its assets in the BSAs, those face texture files are from other mods or you trying to reinstall a mod. Holding CTRL or ALT, I forget which, and clicking "Yes" will be considered "Yes to All".

You could get Wrye Bash like the other user said, but I don't think it's that beginner friendly. Mod Organizer is the newest manager out there and works wonders. It installs all your mods in a fork directory so you don't have to worry about overwriting files. They'll be overriden at runtime. Just know that some mods out there have install scripts that might not be compatible, so keep OBMM or Wrye Bash as backups:
nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/38277

Whatever manager you choose, never get the Nexus Mod Manger the site advertises. It's buggy, it's been in beta for years, and the classic Oblivion mods weren't developed with it in mind.

...

Wasn't starting after I "fixed" everything so I did a clean install and got everything functional now.

Skip everything, go to shivering isles immediately.

without mods?

my friend decided to not level up at all and just raise his unarmed fighting skill

apparently he was bitch slapping everyone because the enemies could not scale their levels with his unarmed skill since he did not level

modded?

get something to fix the level scaling for starters

pffffthahaha

the first TES game I played was Oblivion, and Morrowind is my favorite. I don't buy this bullshit that the first game you played is the one you liked most. Mostly because people are idiots and as soon as they see something that doesn't resemble another thing they like, they immediately dismiss it. the concept of liking 2 things even though they are different completely baffles them.

XP lags the game like a motherfucker. But if you've got framerate to spare, its pretty rad.

Look up Nehrim.

Just play nehrim

nehrim constantly crashed for me, and when it finally worked, the voice acting was so bad that I actually missed the vanilla voices.

Turn off the voice acting. I know a bit of German, it's a lot better than the vanilla shit once you understand it.
It's also a better game in almost all ways.

Its definitely better in a lot of ways, but the poor recording quality is too fucking much, I can't stand it at all.

Morrowind didn't have VA why are you complaining so much now, turn it off.

Cry a goddamn river nigger.

well for starters theres gotta be some mods to make people not looks like a dogs ass
