It wouldn't really be much a matter of purging people to improve board quality. It's difficult if not impossible to guess the ramifications of removing x group of people from the community, but we can be fairly certain the effects that would come of better thread screening. Thus, any future moderation should be more so focused on removing low effort / bait threads, hopefully bringing us back to a state where discourse and discussion has an enforced intellectual standard. People will ultimately conform to the standards and expectations that are presented to them by the community at large; if we present ourselves as expecting each other to have read a fucking book, more people will spend the time to meet that expectation.

I think I'm going to make a new criteria for volunteers that they can't reveal their volunteer status or who they are. I've had enough trouble with this. The NSA/Mossad/whatever probably already has all our info, but my volunteers should at least practice enough basic OPSEC that they don't get doxed/harassed by tripfags or Holla Forumstards. So maybe "Pierre" could be a volunteer, I have no idea, but if he did become one, you wouldn't know about it.

Yeah it's kind of a pipe dream at the moment. I think there could be a couple candidates, or possibly one of my volunteers, but since I never set up an IRC and we all pretty much do our own thing while moderating, I don't know who to trust.

People here are pretty nice to the mod team overall I think. The biggest problem for the volunteers has surprisingly been the bunkerchan IRC, who they keep getting in fights with for some reason.

I think you underestimate people's willingness to work with other ideologies. Yes, people have their preferred stances, but most are willing to work with the alternatives if that is what's gaining traction at the time. For example, I prefer anacho-syndicalism, but if revolution broke out and some other ideology was at the helm, I'd probably support it (at least in the short term) so long as it was some variety of socialism/communism, doesn't seize the means of production for the state, and doesn't rely on a vanguard party.
