Not him, but for example Kalecki, pretty influential among Post-Keynesian economists, was indeed a supporter of socialism. Remember, there are many schools of thought based on the writings of Keynes.

I don't think there's necessarily a cancer killing us. It's more that this board was bringing in newbies a little while ago and at the moment the movement is bloated with people who aren't well read (I'm one of them tbh. Came here a couple months ago but I've been doing my best to play catch-up since then).

This happens whenever a political movement starts growing especially online, I would argue. That's what killed le rational ratheists a couple years ago, and what's going to kill the anti-fem crowd.

While I don't agree with either of these movements, I don't deny the fact that many of the people who popularized them at least did some homework. The problem is, people see this small group of well-read individuals and try to join in in the hopes of becoming intellectuals themselves. They forget to do the required reading.

I don't think we're in trouble necessarily. This debate does not mark any sort of decline, but rather a wake-up call. leftypol was bloated and heading in the wrong direction momentarily. We'll be back on track soon, I believe.
