That animation drops in quality all over the place, and it feels like this is trying to get the Winx/Sailor Moon/Wakfu/Avatar audiences all at once. It looks too cutsey for adventure fans, and is setting the stakes to high for those who want the cute shit. Feels like one of those stand-alone straight to DVD movies based on Disney Princesses/Barbie/Tinkerbell.

But with Netflix shilling, rather than dying out, some Tumblrites will support it.

Only thing that would save this is the lewds.

They call them "isekai" (another world) series. Might just be my imagination, but it seems like a lot of series aimed at little girls feature a protagonist(s) who has been dumped into a magical world.

LEGO Elves is sorta the fantasy spinoff of LEGO's Friends theme AKA the theme LEGO made to get girls interested in LEGO (which worked very, very well). Other spinoff of this same line are for Disney Princess and that DC Super Hero Girls series.

One of the major design decisions they made with these girl oriented sets is there isn't the usual yellow skinned classic LEGO mini figure/minifig included but instead "mini dolls." They don't even have wrist articulation or anti-studs on the backs of their legs and actually have female curves because apparently the girl test audiences don't actually like the classic LEGO minifig and need something more "realistic" to play with. The skin tone of them is also real skin tones instead of yellow.

There would be reviews of the sets on YouTube but don't think anyone here would watch if I linked one.

Unlike what Ninjago, Chima and Nexo Knights did maybe they are using anime/non-LEGO style because it may be more appealing to girls.

I'm not certain, but just from looking at the trailer it looks like the same studio that animated Korra did this. I'm really not a fan of how they handle character animation and lighting, something about it just seems so artificial, without any personality.

It's essentially the goto "anime-but-not-really-anime" style that everyone wants to use because they think it's the reason why Avatar was so successful way back when.
