Let's have a real thread about organization

Let's have a real thread about organization.

Eventually, we'll have to get serious again and develop decent tactics. I'm sure most people here have already some experience on the subject, so let's share it.

We have huge tasks ahead of us. The Right is absorbing more and more of the discontentment with capitalism that we should be gaining from, and the radical Right is already winning elections while the radical Left is stagnant. There's more misconception about Socialism out there than we can fix, and lies about Soviet and revolutionary history spread faster than we can contain them. The government, the libertarian network of pseudo-academic think thanks and the alt-right have all grasped online communication a lot better than us. The Left is losing its predominance in academia, fewer and fewer economists embrace socialism, and recent polls in the UK show that the media still has the power to disrupt Leftist dissent if we somehow make an advancement. Reform seems impossible, but so does revolution.

TL;DR we're pretty much fucked and we have to do something. So what have you been doing?

I've been working on my co-op's finance committee to help prepare it for the incipient store opening.

Now I just have to figure out a way to prepare for the coming economic crash and create a plan for what to do when it arrives.

I'm going to bump this thread in the aftermath of that debate.

IMO, it shows one of the dangers of lacking organization. We don't know who is a good debater/speaker, we don't collectively work towards improving our rhetorical points, etc.

We need a vanguard that is aproved by the people. .. Or at least that's not shit. .. or at least that asks us before doing some sort of faggotry.

wew lad

we need a single ideology ie not lelninism

Academia is and has always been on the side of state and private power. Do you think every academic is like Chomsky, or something?

Slowly converting, and painfully those bernouts to what Socialism is and isn't. Hard process I will tell you. Getting out of their heads that Socialism =/= the government giving you free stuff.

I guided them towards reading Marx with the Communist Manifesto. Then they like that move onto other works, and hopefully they understand better what Socialism is.

So yeah that's what I been doing other than looking in America to a Socialist group that isn't completely poisoned with idpol.

Perhaps we need to develop a new, over-arching organizational label, principle, and theory which will distance itself from the sectarian, divided nature of the left? Something that emphasizes we will have differences of opinion, and will provide a forum and democratic means to advance while maintaining a staunchly anti-current paradigm (anti-capitalist) stance. This could appeal to normies who believe le-evil-gommunism meme but are discontent with things, as well as those of us more versed in theory

Here is a rundown of Leftypol's online presence.

Leftypol has a facebook meme page.
We have a comrade who goes on Tumblr with a sizable following.
We have several youtubers.
We have a magazine.
We also have a webcomic.

Let me know if I've missed anything. I strongly suggest that anyone that hasn't joined a leftist organization to do so. Either try to find one that doesn't contain IDpol, or if none exists, try to keep everyone on the topic of class struggle. I am joining a group at my uni in case someone asks.

Something like this?

Yes, similar to that but also for non-students as well. I'm part of my local SA, but the Trotskyist label makes me feel like some people just can't leave the past behind… and all the other sectarian orgs in my state displaying no inclination towards a democratic union of any form makes me feel like we're wasting a lot of precious time

Well, that is beyond the realm of Leftypol's ability imo. Our users are spread out across the world. I recommend just letting your thoughts be known at a meeting with your org. Tell them to drop the Trotskyist label and start recruiting more diversely. That being said, if they refuse to change, you and others can split :^) to a more general socialist organization.

I've thought about it. My primary reasons for stay are their transitional results ($15/hr in Seattle and an openly rev soc on the city council, successfully fighting some forclosures, and a large membership base in the US) and for their scope (40 states with branches, global reach through the CWI, etc etc). But it feels like all the major orgs have the same shortfalls. I like the IWW, but I'm not an anarchist any more. Anyway, just me bitching :^)

I've said it before a bunch of times. If anyone in the UK wants to meet up to discuss direct action proper, I will do my best to facilitate that.

I'm really just starting to think this is all YouTube and memes though

Well shit. Still try to make an appeal to the organization. Maybe make petition or get some people behind you.

Yeah. Leftypol isn't anything to leftist movements in the long term. To be honest, I always viewed it as a antithesis to Holla Forums and a place for leftists to discuss and shitpost.

But why should it not be a place to convene to actually do something? This is what the Internet was supposed to do. Why not do it?

make communism cool
wear commi shirts with Lenin

I suppose you could try. No harm in that.

What gives you the right to complain about discontentment or economic injustice of capitalism? You're fucking a white male! If you want to fight against inequality then you can start by SHUTTING UP AND LISTENING YOU FUCKING RACIST PIECE OF SHIT.

...

i'm always amazed by Holla Forumstard's stupidity, the best part is they think they're smart
