Remember how Dynamite had the brilliant idea of desexualizing their leading females and had hacks like Margueritte Bennet and Kath Leth writing for them? Yeah so it looks like that fuck up wasn't epic enough and now they had to give the current year treatment to a anti-hero from the 30s.
I am gonna warn you in advance, this is going to hurt. A lot. We are already starting out with a proud L A T I N A woman (in bold letters and with dyke hair no less) reminiscing about a spree shooting perpetrated by white fucking males that were likely most likely nerds that were rejected and decided to do a beta uprising.
And oh as if using the word snowflake to describe the shooters wasn't bad enough, its revealed that our narrator is telling the story to a 4-degree burn victim that had his entire body destroyed and even then she has the need to be snarky about his penis being burned off as she narrates her horrible story that he probably doesn't want to hear.
Mason Hernandez
What the fuck is prompting her at all to tell him this story?!
Jonathan Perry
Now this is the real cherry on the cake, in just two pages she bashes superheroes for saving people and then shows the Shadow going on a rant about white men being on born on privilege and these are no joke the exact words used on the comic. This comic I swear…
Ethan Hughes
it doesnt look THAT bad, but they should have given her brown or black hair, hell she is even a christian/catholic
Luis Sullivan
"Tee hee you're burned and i don't like tending to you as part of my duties as a nurse, no offense white boy" But no lets stop for a moment and see…WELL WELL WELL IF IT ISN'T DRINGALD BLUMPF!
William Taylor
They even have the nerve to take away gun toting vigilantes from us. Despite pushing shit like the evils of guns. Who am I kidding, we all know they think it's okay as long as the gun is in their hands instead. Cunts.
Double Dubs of pain
Carson Campbell
And like that the comic is over. We don't even know the fuck this guy is I guess we will have to wait until next month to find out :^)
Just in case you want to know the cuck behind this, his name is Steven Orlando, a British dude (no less) writing about a Latina American woman getting bullied by evul white men. And just to close things up it turns out that the President's name isn't Donald… But Wyatt. As in A. Wyatt Mann… Really makes you think, huh?
Benjamin Fisher
Fucks sake. I think I'll stick to the old radio shows.
Juan Diaz
Hahahahahaha, take that Drumpf. How is he ever going to recover?
Wyatt King
This whole thing is just insulting.
Hudson Martin
Damn, I didnt know they could add so much current year +2 salt in one comic.
Ian Moore
I give this shit 10 issues, tops, before it's canned. Not only is the Shadow an obscure character by today's standards, but as far as first issues go, they completely shit the bed when it comes to introducing the character, what he's all about, why he does what he does, what his life is like, what his abilities actually are.. And instead, they gave us jokes about burnt old man wieners and an amnesia plotline.
Jeremiah Thomas
This whole fucking thing.
Gavin Moore
10? I give this 5 or 6. That is how long Dejah, Vampirella and Red Sonja lasted last time. And that is really being charitable…
Luis Reyes
All that matters is that they get the anti-white stuff out. That's all. That way, when you put "the shadow comic" into your favourite telegraphed search engine, you'll get only the CURRENT_YEAR result.
Cameron Howard
10 is a generous estimate, but worse comics have lasted longer, seemingly because they were contracted to produce so many issues ahead of time and had to finish out the run that they'd already paid for in hopes of recouping some lost money.
Brody Murphy
oh no they're going to try passing the mantle to bitch nurse aren't they
Julian Martinez
A sassy latina nurse getting tied up with superhero shit on the side. How original.
Austin Hall
Given how the Shadow works in other Dynamite stuff (and even stuff written by the same author, no less), that would basically require her to become one of the most vile serial killers on the planet.
No, wait, that would actually be interesting. She's going to get to bypass all that shit because she's got a vagina, isn't she?
Joseph Collins
I didn't mind that one bit, honestly.
Samuel Foster
Has Dynamite ever done this before? I mean don't get me wrong, the titles I mentioned were all supposed to be regular series, but they were wrapped up after 6 issues. As a matter of fact, recently they have done more limited miniseries than regulars that go all the way to 80 issues like the 2005's Red Sonja title, or the Warlord of Mars comics and the Dejah spin-off, each had 30 issues.
Of course they are going to do it.
Matthew Scott
And I thought the current Vampirella was the worst thing Dynamite was publishing currently.
Parker Howard
I guarantee you that was done on purpose, whenever SJW's and non whites in general create a hero they always given them as much of a European aesthetic as they can without actually making them fully European. It's just like in real life where blacks and Hispanics mock white people for being ugly but at the same time are more attracted to white people (especially white women) than they are their own kind, they want to be beautiful but they don't want to admit that that whites have more attractive features.
Isaac Bailey
no, she will just kill a bunch of white men and it will be portrayed as justice since all white men are privileged, rapist, murders who are ruining the whole world.
Chase Robinson
Dynamite Shadow only became the Shadow by reaching Shamballah, which in Dynamite lore is reputed to be a paradise for hedonists and killers that can only be reached by killing a shitload of people who don't deserve to die. If nurse bitch reaches it by killing people whom the story claims deserve death, then that's still breaking the normal rules.
Now that I think about it, though, Dynamite Shadow also has the power to disguise himself as anyone. It might turn out that nurse bitch was actually just him all along.
Isaiah Foster
...
William Johnson
I never claimed it was good, user. Just that the rules have already been established.
Grayson Russell
And people say the story arc that DC made where the Shadow turned into a head and then a cyborg was terrible…..fuck, even Warren Ellis can right better Shadow story than this…fuck it, I can do this better.
Nathaniel Lee
Orlando is writing the Batman/Shadow crossover, this is by Si Spurrier, who is still a limey cunt writing a American latina.
That fucking next issue tease though: Blind Trump hate and 2 spics looking into a fansite, no Shadow. Trilling shit.
Jordan Morales
So they immediately ramp up the story from a couple of idiots in a school shooting, straight to the fucking White House…
No increasing web of conspiracy? No tangled weave of contacts from one lead to the next; just straight to the upper tiers of government. And by the looks of that teaser, and the fact The Shadow is in hospital, all this is bound to be revealed purely by way of exposition.
And even worse - it's one of those magical fucking fan sites where some 14 year old (probably black girl) somehow knows everything there is to know on the subject and somehow hasn't been killed despite being the sole font of such knowledge and on a site that can be found by anyone with the slightest bit of curiosity.
Oh, and we have a "hero" who apparently just cannot stop looking at dicks…
There's no way this won't all be complete shit. The worst thing is that anyone thought this was quality work and worth printing.
Eli Perez
So much of this issue was bland panels of that same dumb bitch talking, all from the same POV of the amnesiac Shadow. The amnesia bit is perfect, the best horrible way to end a horrible chapter. The bitterness and resentment, the envy the writing exudes, is palpable. A mixture of zero talent and anger issues is not a recipe for a good story.
Jace Wilson
I wait for the day someone makes a comic about a hero Trump and causes a fucking outrage.
Kayden Gray
Why put the Shadow in modern times? He works better in the 30's.
Is it me or does the second shooter look like Mal from Firefly.
Henry Green
I was thinking more that the shooters look like they're in their early 30s.
Shit, they're not even wearing band t-shirts - what kind of high school is this? It's more like a couple of ex-GAP models blaming kids for the end of their careers.
Parker Reyes
That has to be the worst bedside manner I've ever seen.
Alexander Jackson
Just leave the character alone.
Jaxson Anderson
I'm just waiting for the inevitable publishing of a comic where Trump gets murdered in the goriest, edgiest and most humiliating way possible. It wouldn't be anything special, what with all the calls for his head, but it should be good for a laugh and a storytime.
Mason Murphy
Wasn't that in E.V.I.L Heroes which is just an edgier version of the Crime Syndicate?
Austin Wright
It is pretty mediocre, the whole politics could have been cut out in order to make it faster and make it more meaningful. I mean, i don't know what the comic is about yet, it is about the shadow? The nurse? why should i give a fuck? is that guy the shadow? Overall, i already don't like the nurse as a character, she seems like the strong female character who acts like a bitch for fucking no reason, all the time. But then again, i never cared about the shadow so i was not really interested from the beggining.
Connor Rodriguez
Why is it so hard to spell 'beginning'? It's literally BEGIN-n-ing, dissect it and it's much easier to memorize.
Oliver Wright
Somebody storytime the Howard Chaykin Shadow, that shit was retarded-brilliant, and compared to the shit they publish now, probably much better than I remember it.
The Grendel v.s. Shadow was the best, though, that shit was classy as fuck.
Eli Scott
3rd image. How the fuck did they go from m1carbine to AR-15 on the same fucking page?
Lucas Bailey
Oh yeah, Grendel/The Shadow is pretty damn good.
Mason Smith
But I don't care user.
Ian Bell
You're expecting britbongs to know what a gun looks like? Their police confiscate bicycle tires as part of their anti-knife patrols.
Robert Morris
Listen, just because you can get arrested for hitting your mugger doesn't mean they can't look up pictures of mcscaryshootbandM1943
Tyler Taylor
Vampirella is worse. On top of being pozzed as fuck, having the heroine looking like a drug addict and pic related, the story is weird as fuck it can only be enjoyed by people doing drugs.
Carter Jackson
>cuck blank What are they supposed to be saying? Cuck faggot? Cuck shit? Cunt? Fuck? Could have just had them say But even then, no one fucking talks like this.
Eli Jones
The one with long hair looks awfully familiar…
Blake Howard
Superheros in general work better in the 30's.
Brandon Thompson
I can't take it anymore Think I'm done coming to this board
Jason Morgan
And holy fuck why is The Shadow fighting school shooters and talking to them like they are the big bad villains deserving of the karmic takedowns he usually does ? This is so fucking below him.
David Martin
I was writing from my cellphone so i didn't care in the orthography to beigin wtih.
Leo Hall
holy fuck this is terrible. this is New SJW shit, by the way, they just take all the shit we make fun of them for and go "i know you are but what am I?" all they're doing is saying "no YOU'RE snowflakes, YOU'RE emotional, YOU'RE trying to silence people!" and then they take over existing properties and just have them parrot this shit because they're not creative at all.
stopping a pair of white school shooters in 2017. sure. it's not chicago teenage gangs shooting each other up and hurting their communities, it's columbine white boys with delusions of grandeur. somewhere across town a muslim is throwing acid in a woman's face for showing her knees.
Owen Bell
More evidence phoneposters should get gassed.
John Lopez
I can see you are beijinging to shitpost, but i am not gong to be part of that. Here is your (you) though.
Wyatt Sullivan
still no h8chan edit?
Cameron Reyes
Is he describing a twitterer trying to stand up to MUH GAMERZ?
Justin Diaz
wryyyyyy
Luke Russell
Finally, I get to post my OC.
Joseph Anderson
It reads like mediocre personal blogpost which has zero meaning whatsoever. And people are supposed to pay actual money for this absolutely pointless shit. It's like buying privilege to read shitposts, except those can be a better quality read compared to this crappy blogpost inserted into a comicbook.
Angel Edwards
what show is that?
Jace Edwards
Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Cop Comedy/Procedural. Pretty good, and the quality stays consistent for all 4 seasons, with the 5th starting next month I think.
Isaac Cooper
thanks fam.
Chase James

Jaxson Price
So what about this is "current year"? It's not a great comic or anything, but it's not cancerous or anything. It's just generally stupid.
Juan Torres
Alright, let's headcanon this shit into something good. >(((conspiracy)))
Brayden Evans
...
Ryder Green
The two frames where she suddenly says "ew trump" is the only thing close to current year shit in the comic. The rest of it is a dumb nihilistic rant that you could find in any random comic dating back to the fucking 70s or 80s. And I'm pretty sure the nurse is just white.
Jonathan Roberts
You're incredibly blind, user.
James Cook
Motherfucker, she says she is latina in bold letters in the first post. Delete yourself.
Liam Martinez
Haven't bough a comic book in ages. Heard Miracle Man was really good. Bought this issue of The Shadow as well. It was absolute shit in every possible way. I'd rather have been robbed of $4 dollars in the parking lot.
Wyatt Campbell
Miracle Man or Mr. Miracles?
Alexander Lee
That would be good but hearing about the writer he's not smart enough to pull that off.
Adrian Fisher
I'm surprised Razorfist hasn't bitched about it yet.
Jace Brooks
too easy
Cameron Brooks
Good edit. Is it me or does she look kinda pale to be latina?
Noah Garcia

Jackson Howard
Is that game at least self aware that the people in it are hipster garbage.
Jackson Jones
I want to believe it since they made that blue haired retard break every rule in the book regarding firearm safety. Highly doubt it though.
Brayden Peterson
Quit talking like a nigger, and go watch your jew show.
Landon Bailey
...
Jose Robinson
He could have done a better job actually outlining the stupidity of it all. He just kept saying "it's the worst ever!" over and over, without taking a breath to elaborate that the story is poorly told, moronically framed, seemingly hyperfocused on the narcissism of the author channeled through a proud latina doctor (surprised they didn't go with latinx) and the sheer absurdity of The Shadow showing up at a High School to stop a shooting, only for the whole pay off of the book to be that the burned old man might be the Shadow, which the insightful Latina knows for sure, because she remembers his laugh from decades ago.
Henry Torres
Oh, and the cherry on top. Also released today.
Benjamin Hall
It's you. Also you can blame shit artists who refuse to draw people as they are and instead only draw people as they know how or imagine them to be. It's how you get black women with 0 'black' racial qualities (depending on WHICH black region of the world she descended from would determine a lot) but instead look like a generic or idealized white woman and then paintfill'ed to be black.
It's also possible that combining weak artistry with you're lack of familiarity on how 'creamy coffee' a latina can get lead you to this confusion.
POINT IS SHE'S LATINA AND THIS COMIC IS SO BAD I CAN'T CALL IT SHIT BECAUSE EVEN SHIT SERVES A PURPOSE. THE MONEY SPENT ON THIS BURNS BETTER THAN IT SO DON'T GO THINKING IT'LL BE HANDY IN THE NUCLEAR WINTER, IT WON'T BE.
Charles Wright
How is copy pasting entire panels like that acceptable? This lazy shit became far too common within last few years. Human beings don't stand still like statues when they are talking. She could at least turn the head towards the patient, move her hands, etc. Instead she just stands like a wax figure and doesn't even press buttons on the remote to switch channels.
Notice that their minis tend to be books that push SJW crap. Current Red Sonja managed to break magical threshold of 6 issues. All it took was bringing scale bikini back, hiring a competent artist, and some fanservice in every other issue.
He doesn't seem to have read much outside of big two. No wonder that he didn't develop a decent taste. He's also far too lenient and forgiving when it comes to sloppy art an lazy writing.
Anthony Peterson
Holy shit, you weren't kidding op. This is some solar-system-scale projecting of white rich liberal feminists.
This kind of virtue signalling might be needed when you have multiple foundations streaming endless stream of money to you, and you really need to NOT think about it, and NOT feel like a lazy parasite sucking the blood of the less fortunate. If your parents/friends/uncles/grandads zero-tax-trust-fund is built on top of a mountain of corpses of starved children, I bet you would need a whole fucking comic to tell you that the "bad people are everybody else but you darling". Holy shit. Holy, fucking, shit.
Cooper Stewart
I love how the writer basically admits that the school shooters are based on the "Toxic" majority of comic readers who he and his cohorts say have all the power, yet fail to mention how most writers and a few of the artists in the comics industry (who would have been fired a long time ago if someone with brains and respect for their audience were running modern comics.) keep their shitty jobs because of nepotism and birds-of-a-feather mentality.
Alexander Powell
Stop yelling.
Easton Sanders
Did the thread with that Razorfist vid about this shadow comic get deleted? I can't find it on the catalog.
Samuel Fisher
Ha. Also I don't think clairvoyance was one of Shadow's powers, how the fuck did he get there so quick?
How is this guy supposed to be on the side of liberals let alone sjws? How? Simply by exposure to the overwhelmingly(82%) non-white nature of crime in America he'd become a racialist and fascist in a week. Something has to be done about all the faggots fucking up society and he's demonstrated an interest into taking matters into his own hands outside the preview of the law with no compunctions about killing those he considers a problem.
When essentially all of a societies problems can be laid at the feet of certain demographics how could he not come to hate them? Why do liberals who write this tripe even bother? Why even write about a character you yourself must hate?
Cooper Cook
Polite request of source.
Nathaniel Russell
2016 Color of Crime report by American Renaissance, the data is taken from the DoJ and FBI statistics for 2014-2015, statistical collection is always one year behind.
Book isn't all that great though since recycled Kulan Gath as villain for the nth time (I know for a fact that writers lament Sonja doesn't have an great rogue gallery since they keep reusing him everytime) and tried to tackle the topic of illegal immigration once, but that was pretty much contained to the issue it was brought up and never touched on again.
As if I needed anymore reason to disregard that faggot's opinion. Fuck him and his shit taste.
He read some Image, but the dude is a casul through and through.
Matthew Butler
Fuck sake, I used to like Spurrier well, another one for the blacklist
Robert Davis
What did he do originally?
Isaac Baker
It was posted in this thread a couple days ago. Doesn't need it's own thread, especially because it's not an especially insightful take on the matter, besides excoriating Si Spurrier as another hysterical britbong who keeps running his mouth about US politics while ignoring everything wrong with UK politics.
Juan Ross
Well to be fair there is some speculation that The Shadow's real name is Kent Allard who fough in WW1 and is using Lamont Cranston's name and wealth to fight crime.
Asher Wright
It isn't the 40's anymore.
Luke Taylor
This actually look real good
Levi Thompson
Diversity & Comics, go and stay go.
Parker King
At this point it's probably easier to have a comic whitelist instead of a blacklist.
Ayden Richardson
You mean Lamont Cranston was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Kent Allard, IF he is The Shadow (because even that is still a mystery) was just a WW1 aviator and spy.
Except that this is actually another of the bajillion things that makes this issue, and the purposes behind it, shit: even in the 30s, The Shadow was remarkably progressive for a pulp character. He had agents of several different types. Chinese agents, like Roy Tam and even one of his close friends Cho-Tsing. Black agents like Stanley and Jericho (a respectful black man who ran an employment agency in Harlam). Female agents like Myra Reldon or Margo. Margo Lane is easily the second most famous character in the series and she was far from the only woman in the series to help The Shadow fight crime. And Gibson rarely resorted to endangering women for the sake of drama, the character who got kidnapped and endangered the most was Harry Vincent. Obviously the pulps weren't completely racism-free (the chinese got the brunt of it most of the time), but compared to his contemporaries, The Shadow was genuinely progressive and pushed boundaries that allowed for the eventual introduction of female superheroes like Miss Fury and Domino Lady.
But of course SJWs and Spurrier couldn't care less and still prefer to see him as an "old monster" because he is a white man with a gun who killed criminals, and condescendingly treat the character and his audiences to forced soapboxing.
Henry Johnson
Is that gun shooting 2 bullets?
Nolan Barnes
Good reaction image material.
Ethan Gomez
.25acp derringer pepperbox? but on the bottom panel it looks like a .35acp auto
Do they really dislike guns so much they can't be bothered to decide on a specific gun to draw and fucking stick with it?
Gavin Baker
Maybe the artists doesnt know how guns work?
Evan Torres
This is just more SJW ignorance. They never cared about comics or pulps, they just want another soapbox to scream their shitty politics at us.
Lucas Diaz

Gavin Nguyen

Ian Taylor
I think that's a FAMAS
Juan Richardson
Y'know I've noticed that trend a lot with artists nowadays. They tend to draw guns and bullets poorly when they try to make them realistic. I wonder if it's better if they went back to Kirby style guns where they aren't based on any particular gun but you can see some influences like a Mauser C96 or something.
Carson Price
indeed, I have both I rarely buy out of my whitelist these days. I miss the days when I could pick up a random tpb, enjoy it and not be bogged down by the author's politics
X Men Legacy I enjoyed his X-Force for all of it's faults
Kevin Campbell
Why would anyone make such a shitty gun?
David Bailey
Holdout pistols aren't known for their range, accuracy or reliability. They're for having the minimum size of device needed to throw hot lead at someone and hopefully not have it blow up in your hands.
Carter Nguyen
No, it's hella serious.
Elijah Lee

Benjamin Ross
Actually, technically it isn't canon that The Shadow said all that, it's canon that some retarded latina nurse with a dyke haircut (and probably with the idea that spreading her leftist ideology is more important than telling the truth) claimed the shadow said all that. In case there are any fans of The Shadow in this thread, maybe that can be a small consolation.
Benjamin Long
Weren't those tiny Derringer guns designed to be easily concealed so you could administer swift justice to cheaters in casinos? T.learning about the USA from The Simpsons.
Google image "man / woman holding gun". You might have go go as far as page 5 to find the one the traced, after that Star Wars guy got caught out with "crying girl".

Comics
Aiden James
The only consolation I take from this is that, unlike comics which have long and convoluted plotlines where shit like this actually happens and you have to accept them as canon, The Shadow doesn't have one. His "canon", if the term is even applicable for a character like him, ended decades ago in the pulps. So this whole thing is just another idiotic what-if like Chaykin's series or Robocop Shadow.
Ryan James
I never read the comics, I only listened to the radio serial. Were the comics ever good?
Cooper Johnson
Got the pics about that?
Colton Thomas
One thing most comic-readers of The Shadow seem to be able to agree on is that the 70s O’Neil/Kaluta comics are the best. Either these, or all the ones written by Matt Wagner.. My personal favorites are Hitler's Astrologer, Hell's Heat Wave and In The Coils of Leviathan. As for Matt Wagner, I recommend Year One, Death of Margo Lane and his Grendel vs Shadow crossover. These are really the only ones I'd say are essentials for any Shadow fan. Also, Masks is great. And the Batman crossovers written by O'Neil are pretty great as well. The new one with Scott Snyder has been well-received and even though I think there are several characterization and writing issues, I like it. It explores the idea nicely, and it revived interest in The Shadow. I just hope it doesn't get too wrapped up in Batwank and Jokerwank like most of Snyder's projects.
Dynamite's other Shadow comics mostly range from decent (the Green Hornet crossover), to really mediocre (The Last Illusion) to outright awful (the current series). Garth Ennis' run really depends on whether you like his style or not. The Fire of Creation is mostly a retelling of The Rape of Nanking with occasional appearences by some Punisher knock-off dressed as The Shadow. It's readable but I wouldn't recommend it. Howard Chaykin's series is very controversial. Some like it, others don't. I despise it and I would never subject any Shadow fan to them. I also think The Shadow Strikes is similarly awful but it does have pretty great art. Everyone agrees that Sienkiewicz and Helfer's Shadow run was irredeemable, taking the worst aspects from Chaykin's run and ramping them up, and it was rightfully canceled after they turned The Shadow into Robocop. And no one talks about the Archie series because of, well, I think pic related shows why.
Aiden Hughes
Yes a lot.
Daniel Hughes
Is there still a site where you can listen to the radio serial? The last one got V&. Pity, it was some good cliffhanger radio drama, and Orsen Welles' voice is just porn.
Elijah Rodriguez
oldradioprograms.us/Shadow.htm (250+ Episodes, apparently in release order, plus a few stray files including War of the Worlds)
I really love Orson Welles. He's my favorite film director and I think he's the best Lamont Cranston. His episodes are what led to me discovering The Shadow as well as Orson's career in radio and film. But to me, personally, Frank Readick Jr is the ideal Shadow voice (too bad not many of his recordings exist), and Bret Morrison is the overall best.
Charles Phillips
There's a new crossover between Batman and The Shadow coming November. Apparently it's a sequel to the current one.
hopefully the art will be better than the current crossover.
Brody Sullivan
I'm not too crazy about it but it does look better. Looks like Giovanni remembered to actually put some shadows on The Shadow. Although this time it's being written by the artist of the previous crossover, and he seems quite passionate about the character. Plus, there is no Snyder this time around, so hopefully no Jokerwank. The previous one was Batman/The Shadow with the characters vs Joker and Stag (a Batman villain created for this crossover who was hamfisted into The Shadow's backstory). This one is The Shadow/Batman with them vs actual villains from the pulps (The Silent Seven), so I'm hoping good things out of this one. Even though it has Damian and it's being published by Dynamite. This has been a pretty busy year for The Shadow.
Brandon Bennett

For the sake of coolness it seems like it was drawn in a way so that you never see the respective ends of the scarf on panel, it's always stretching beyond.
Tbh I actually like this because it helps to make The Shadow seem more mysterious and ethereal, especially in contrast to Batman. Like an all-encompassing omnipresent ghost not bound by human perception. At times it does look fucking ridiculous and distracting but it also makes up for really cool panels and compositions
Eli Fisher

That'd be fine if it wasn't run by the old ones.
Adam Martinez
Making them look like Off-Brand Cthulhus was a big mistake. Extradimensional entities collecting and punishing evil men or converting them and sending them out to redeem themselves, though? Cool concept.

Well, here's the full issue. I would have storytimed it on cuckchan as well but my IP was blocked AGAIN for some reason.

Honestly, making the Shadow as a punishment for Cranston seems lame. He comes off as a bit whiny as a result rather than a force to punish evil.
Jonathan Gutierrez
The backstory retcon that he was literally cursed by Cthulhu aliens into becoming The Shadow and that's where his powers come from and he actually really hates it, alongside the revelations that he was only training Batman as bait for the Stag and so that he could become The Shadow in his place, are so fundamentally wrong and backwards to the character that it was the nail in the coffin for me in regards to this series. I can't even begin to explain how completely and utterly wrong it is and how it spits in the face of everything The Shadow was and stood for.
I have dozens of issues with this series but the lackluster finale and the complete mischaracterization of The Shadow for the sake of Batwank are by far the biggest ones.

I have not been on this board for at least a year. I went on with my life believing that at least my favorite radio show superhero is left untouched. Then lately, I have been feeling uneasy. Feeling frustrated for no reason and I could not understand why. I had a feeling that I had to come back to this board just to see what this board is up to and I come back to see this. Now, I understand why. Something that was sacred to me was touched by some filthy disgusting lib-tard. A hero that wasn't meant to be mainstream is being horribly mutilated and sewn back together to a hollow shell of its former self and was stuffed with shit. This…thing…has no will of its own. You can't communicate with it nor reason with it. All it can do is send an ear-piercing screech that sounded like screams of the damned and kills on command. When I look into the creature's eyes all I can see are despair and sadness. There is no saving it. It needs to go back to the depths of hell from the portal that this thing entered this realm from.
Adrian Morgan
Nothing is sacred, I'm sorry user.

Does anyone be have rips of the old shadow pulps? I'd buy some but I down want to
Brody Lee
I know we had a storytime of The Shadow: Hitlers Astrologer and The Shadow vs Grendel.
Julian Cooper
Anybody know of any good Youtube channels that cover pulps (especially if they don't restrict themselves to US ones)? Preferably not ones going "lawl it's so bad it's good", or calling anything from pre-WW2 "steampunk", or Razorfist.

Nope

Hello again. I'm , back with what I promised.
I present to you this pastebin with links on where to read all of the 325 existing pulps, as well as all the other novels, radio episodes, movies and comics related to The Shadow I could find. pastebin.com/ig11eExG
Hope you enjoy reading them.
Aiden Myers
You're a saint. We'll have to go through all these links, compile all the PDFs, zip em up, and throw them on a filehosting site for easier distribution
Jayden Scott
A lot of those pulps are already in pdf format but I think some of the ones in there would have to be re-typed entirely. Also, I forgot to credit it in the pastebin, but I got a lot of these links from this Tumblr blog. oldschoolcrimefighters.tumblr.com/wheretofind
I made this pastebin for my Shadow storytimes on Holla Forums to make it easier for people to find the pulps but if someone could put these in a filehosting site for easier distribution it would make it easier (I don't really know how to do that at the moment)
Xavier Edwards
Another thing that someone could do is turn the images on th comic site to PDF for non story time purposes

I think the only option is to manually download every single one of them, rename and number them, and then throw them onto a mega.nz trove or something.

Is it me or does the "empowered" nurse character have a tight outfit meant to sexualize her. Seems like a hypocritical thing for SJW's to do.
Nice that they use the dagger from the movie.
Thanks for the storytime.
Christopher Nelson
The thing that to me that separated this comic from Spurriers fuckfest is that this actually wants to be a shadow story and not a political soapbox I know that's obvious but all the mythos jokes ( the blue coal one is my personal favorite)make this comic one of the better non wagner modern shadow stories for me
Carson James
That looks awesome. Are you going to storytime it?

Wot, no Avenger, Doc Savage, or Phantom?
Hey, does anyone have the Bronze Age Batman/Shadow team-up?
Batman/Spirit was good. Batman/Grendel was great. Grendel/Shadow was Godly.
I read a pretty good fanfic where Fu Manchu tried setting up shop in New York after arranging for Doc Savage to be diverted by events in Africa, but The Shadow showed up and pushed his shit in. Fu made reference to an earlier attempt at making inroads in Africa, and having outmanoeuvred Tarzan and Allan Quartermain, The Phantom showed up and pushed his shit in.
Am I reading that right? Only going to issue #6? is that too low or close enough for my prediction of "10 issues, tops" to be considered accurate?
Christian Thomas
Yup. A while ago people saw there were no issues after #6 and naturally assumed the series would not continue after it, and it was eventually branded as a mini-series by the people behind it trying to cover their asses and pretend it was always supposed to be one. The link eventually confirms it's getting canceled after #6
At most we are just going to get Si Spurrier bitching on Twitter about it but he doesn't seem to care enough about the series, or the character, to comment on it. So the series is essentially getting the quiet and undignified death it deserves
Liam Gutierrez
Wew, get fucked Spurrier. I guess that means we won't get any new Shadow comics for a long time, but maybe it's for the best.
Gabriel Smith
Honestly I'd rather have no Shadow comics at all than a bad one and I think most fans feel the same. It's not like this killed the "series" or did any major dent on the character's image or profitability. Ever since it's absolute peak in the 30s-40s, The Shadow as an IP has been sustained almost entirely on the character's cultural impact and the fanbase's efforts to sustain the series, it's been like this since the 90s (and arguably since the 50s). Every decade he experiences a substantial resurgence in popularity at some point, even in periods like the 60s or late 80s-early 90s that aren't well remembered now. And there are still mediums that the series has yet to expand to, like television or videogames. There are dozens and dozens of great characters and stories in this series that can be adapted and shown to people.
I honestly would be okay with Dynamite not touching the character anytime soon. If only Conde Nast weren't such cunts with the copyrights we could see more adaptations, and better ones.
Grayson Ramirez
Apparently this is up to #5 now, does anybody even care enough to pirate it? or, ya know, something decent with The Shadow in it instead Polite sage because it might only be me who gives a crap. those fuckers better stay away from Sexton Blake
Caleb Harris
In case you guys are curious the new Shadow/Batman issue was goddamn awful and I'm not gonna storytime it.
Sebastian Reyes
When will hack writers stop abusing this shitty trope?
Hudson Scott
I've only watched the movie and read some comics like The Shadow Strikes but isn't this completely backwards to how Khan and Shadow actually interact ? Haven't they been trying to kill each other for decades ? Why is the comic trying to force a The Killing Joke-style "YOU NEED ME" horseshit on their relationship ? Also isn't the Shadow's true identity supposed to be Kent Allard ? What is Orlando's goal here ?
Hunter Richardson
The problem is that this is a shitty attempt to expand on what the movie was trying to do by setting them as two different shades of black when it should instead turn sights on the opposite.
The crux of The Shadow and Shiwan Khan's relationship in the pulps was also that Khan and The Shadow had virtually the same background. As a young man, Shiwan Khan was poor yet studious and had chosen to study the secrets of the mind in Tibet in order to do good things for Mongolia, and gradually became corrupted as his ancestral urge for power caused him to foresee himself rising as the next Great Khan. Kent Allard was a spy who served in WW1 and, after the war was over and he was part of a generation without purpose, he decided to put all his skills to use, bury his identity and become The Shadow to fight evil.
Walter Gibson's favorite villains were those who served as counterparts to The Shadow, like The Cobra or Gaspard Zemba, and Shiwan Khan was the ultimate example of this. Shiwan Khan also had a sanctum, agents of all sorts, people who owed their lives to him and trusted him, and he had all the powers the radio Shadow had on top of more (and the pulp Shadow didn't). He was The Golden Master to oppose The Master of Darkness, but the real hero was the latter. They were counterparts not because they were "evil warlords", but because they both were hyper-competent former soldiers opposite to each other in methods and yet similar in motives.
But I guess that's not interesting enough for modern writers so they both have to be evil bastards with a dark past and for The Shadow to be a depressed sad sack about it.
This comic is running with the idea that Allard was just another disguise, like Cranston, and that The Shadow's real self was Ying Ko, the asian warlord.
Bentley Walker
When they stop ripping off The Killing Joke, Watchmen and The Dark Knight Returns a.k.a never
Hunter Bennett
The more I learn about Shiwan Khan the more he reminds me of the Mandarin. Though I guess the Mandarin was influenced by him though.
Asher Williams
The Mandarin was definitely inspired by Shiwan Khan but I think in time he also started to influence Khan's depictions in comics. I think the part of Khan's backstory in The Shadow Strikes that states his mother was an English concubine to an Asian warlord was definitely inspired by The Mandarin's backstory since neither the pulps nor did any of the comics before ever mentioned who or what Khan's parents were (or The Shadow's, for that matter, who are still complete mysteries to this day)
And the two of them (as well as Ra's al Ghul to an extent) have a clear inspiration on Fu Manchu, particularly since Sax Rohmer was friends with Walter Gibson and they bounced ideas off each other. And I think at first Shiwan Khan was a little too similar to Fu Manchu, but by Shiwan Khan Returns he gradually developed into a more barbaric and less shadowy character.
It's a shame people brush off these types of villains nowadays as outdated and racist archetypes and consequently write them as such. I was pretty excited to see The Mandarin apparently played straight in Iron Man 3 only for the twist to be that he was just a white guy in a suit.
Xavier Lewis
How much does Shiwan Khan have in common with Fu Manchu?
Zachary Adams
Where did their research budget go? Spics hit puberty while they're still in elementary school.
Brayden White
They have a lot of obvious similarities as is to be expected. Similar designs, similar descriptions, cunning and homicidal personalities, a similar hatred for Western civilization and it's decadence (emphasized more strongly on Fu Manchu), similar mind control tactics (Khan uses these a lot more than Fu Manchu) and so on. Their similarities are mostly surface level and since most people only really pay attention to those aspects of the characters they get the impression that they are all there is to them. What separates them is mostly their methods and motivations.
Fu Manchu has always been strongly distinguished by his use of arcane and biological weaponry, whether they are drugs or mutant animals, as well as him openly rejecting crude methods. His goals went from securing tradition and Chinese sovereignty to world domination to him actually sort of ruling the world from the shadows, and as the series progressed his character became more defined by finesse and noble traits. We are never given all the details of his backstory Shiwan Khan has used arcane weaponry on occasion but his stories emphasized far more his quest to bend the world to his knees via conquest of firepower, like military planes and ammunition for his campaign, abduct scientists to create superweapons or spread out his minions and take over the American government with criminal empires. Khan started the series already wanting to conquer the world and as it progressed he only became more and more ruthless and more obsessed with destroying The Shadow. If they were to speak to each other, they might appreciate each other's genius and ruthlessness, but Fu Manchu would deride Khan as a Mongol barbarian far too obsessed with direct conquest and the destruction of his arch enemy, and Khan would see Fu's insistence on traditionalist methods as stagnant and outdated as well as object to him doing things like sending wedding gifts to the people he's failed to eliminate.
To put it simply, their characters are about as different from each other as Lo Pan (from Big Trouble in Little China) and Hanoi Xan (from Buckaroo Banzai). Or Ra's al Ghul and The Mandarin, in more modern terms, in the sense that they overlap superficially but not to the point where they are the exact same character.
Dylan Allen

Logan Morgan
SJW or not, it has to be some comic to be some comic to justify buying it.
Kevin Watson
Thanks, user! It's interesting how different two characters can be despite superficial similarities. At some point I'd like to read some of the old pulps and related novels.
Brody Turner
I've been looking for online pulp pdfs in order to read more and put more lists together but if you are interested, I posted earlier in the thread a pastebin I made compiling all 325 Shadow pulps as well as other novels, radio episodes, serials and comics.
If you ever become curious and want to read more on Shiwan Khan, he appears in the novels: The Golden Master, Shiwan Khan Returns, The Invincible Shiwan Khan and Masters of Death. I'd also recommend other Chinatown tales such as The Fate Joss, Gray Fist, The Chinese Disks, Teeth of the Dragon and both stories titled Jade Dragon. Gibson was really good at depicting Chinatown as a surreal and almost fantasy world, ruled by dinasties and totems and death traps everywhere and where you can never tell who's on who's side. Even if the racial stuff does date some stories to an extent, the Chinatown stories were consistently some of the best The Shadow Magazine had to offer (which is why they were quite rare).
Nolan Foster
It's just that I grew up reading them and loving them. I can't quit them.

Not that I know of. But it's a shame we probably won't be seeing TPs of Shadow Strikes because of Jones turning out to be a pedophile. It was a really great series.
It's been canceled as of the 6th issue
Cooper Jackson
The Shadow/Batman is still shitty and it's gotten worse, but there's only one issue left at least and then Steve Orlando will finally leave The Shadow alone.
Joseph Rodriguez
God that dialogue is just terrible.
Eli Hill
Damn.
Andrew Watson
...
Daniel Taylor
For fuck's sake. Even Howard Chaykin, who openly hated the character, admitted to having never read any of the pulps, and had all the agents killed off for no reason but to piss off the fans, understood this basic fact about the character. Orlando claims to love The Shadow and this is what he gives us. The worst part is that he probably thinks he's giving him more "depth" with this repetitive nonsense.
Jaxson Campbell
Sad to hear.
Evan Long
Are there no good writers left?
Ryan Cox
I think the worst part is that Shiwan Khan, even after all he's done, probably won't die at the end of the story since Batman won't let it happen. Unless it ends with him losing his powers (and considering how much Orlando loves to reference that stupid movie it might), Khan is literally getting no comeuppance for all the things he did. The Shadow has done literally nothing in this new series. At least in the previous one he occasionally got to be useful in doing things like rescuing Batman or destroying Shamballa. But in this one, literally all he did was save Robin from Khan's minions in the 2nd issue. He's been getting beaten and humiliated and tortured for the past 3 issues and for absolutely no reason other than the fact Steve Orlando thinks this constitutes more character depth and to make Batman look better.
There's Matt Wagner. The rest is either dead or retired.
William Gomez
How can this be professional art someone got paid for? IThat inking is atrocious, the shading is fuck ugly- and lighting and shade contridict each other: look at the hat and the face in second image. It's so goddamn slapped together and ass. I used to look up to comic artists. Goddamn.
Noah Jones
Fuck this shit!
Justin Hernandez
Everyone who read it was really split on the art for this comic and while I don't think Riley Rossmo is a bad artist they really dropped the ball when it was time to actually do the inking and shading for the comic. It was way too pastel and nonsensically put together like they used crayons to do it.
And I don't know why in the name of fuck did they insist on unmasking The Shadow for the last 4 issues. It's like they forgot he's supposed to be covering his face.
Cameron Nelson
I heard Sam Raimi has the rights to The Shadow now. Considering how good his Shadow expie Darkman turned out, this could be good.
Brandon Foster
He abandoned the project in 2012 after it spent almost two decades in development limbo. The rights are still with Conde Nast and they are a bunch of cunts so it might still be a while before we ever see another production with The Shadow.
Jacob Kelly
GOD FUCKING DAMN IT Oh well, I think Tarantino still has Modesty Blaise.
Kevin Brooks
Anyone here knows where I can find these two comics to read online? I've looked everywhere and couldn't find them.
Matthew Wood
If I bought this as a first issue thinking it'd be a cool read about the Shadow, and I got this shit, most definitely that second issue wouldn't be bought They have not sold the continued sales of product to me as a consumer, and as such have failed 5 issues, maybe 8 if dumblr starts jerking off to it for whatever reason.
