I'm sure many of you are aware of and maybe even fans of h3h3, Ethan and Hila. I know I was, which is why it's kind of been a bummer these last few weeks, with what feels like an increasing populist "anti-SJW" swing to their videos lately.
It seems like their videos were initially very goofy and good-natured, with them never getting too overtly political and most of the time even remaining friendly with their target. I'm biased, but it was also nice to see them make goofs at the expense of the pick-up artist/Red Piller culture. Nowadays, it feels like they're constantly making fun of "triggers", "safe spaces", tumblr and "SJWs". They even did a video on Tumblr which, as far as I can tell, was literally just 10 minutes of Ethan spouting strawman SJW speak while looking up random things on the site. The real straw for me was their latest video, "Crazy Feminist Gets Triggered". I mean the subject of the video, a woman harassing a man for making a dad joke, does seem pretty ridiculous and ripe for ribbing; the problem comes from the incessant commentary about "how crazy this social justice shit has gotten", "with safe spaces and shit", how social justice people need to "find a new hobby" (which I find funny considering Ethan literally reacts to videos that outrage him for a living), how "nobody can take social justice seriously anymore" because of this one random lady getting angry. Throw in a few more dated references to Big Red and triggering - at one point a gross misunderstanding of what the latter is when Ethan sees the woman shaking the camera and says "the trigger meme is real" as if triggers aren't an actual medically-accepted psychological phenomenon - it just adds up to a sour taste in my mouth that wasn't there before.
How do you guys feel? Have you always been kinda unsure of the channel, and if so why?
If anything his Israeli background is the issue, sure the SJW thing has become kind of a bandwagon but it's not wrong to shit on it.

Honestly, it was just a matter of time.
Any space on the internet that is not explicitly left, will soon get overrun with edgy/rightwing memes and audience. Couple that with the fact the whole point (more or less) of the channel was meta memes, and reacting to over(re)acting people of the internets, a focus on the sjw stuff was inevitable.
And I am not really putting a lot of blame on Ethan here. If you get exposed to a lot of specific memes (for example by an anti-pc audience) you're gonna start repeating them. I've notice similar stuff with LPers/twitch streamers who are mostly not political in their videos (and probably rather left leaning irl) and suddenly start saying variations of the identify-as meme.

a) Yes, there is a certain set of the (online) population that can get very annoying and very rightious about certain things and topics. But those are often not mature, not well adjusted or simply trolling. And people like that are very much not limited to the left. They are pretty evenly distributed on the political spectrum. There simply is no SJW conspiracy.
b) Look at all the places that are very vocally anit-pc, pro free speech, anti SJW (or even just think SJW are an actual thing worth worrying about). They all attract the same kind of audience/community. And they all have huge parts that populists, alt-rights, neo-nazis, etc. And why? All those talking points I mentioned above? Those are fascist dogwistles. Actual fascitsts are smart (or at least, very strategic). They know how to appeal to the majority, in a way that seems very proper, very rational on the surface. And this is not a conspiracy. This is actually happening, and the actual battle plan of actual organised fascists. And it is working. Again. All over Europe, and in the US. It worked in the 30s, and it's working now. Back then it was jews and communists, now it's muslims and SJWs. And i am not saying all tumblr haters, all anti SJWs are fascists - far from it. But they are, generally speaking, their pawns. And in catering to those voices, to those groups, by repeating those messages, shows like h3h3 turns into a pawn as well, and furthers a fascist agenda. Not individually, and definitely not specifically h3h3, but it contributes to the societal atmosphere that fascists want and need.
