I'm not even going to touch that link but to reply to your thread, I recently read the comics and I must say that barring two separate jokes, it's some of the most vile shit ever penned down by a human being. One of the fucking Rick Guards has Josuke's fucking hair, for God's sake they even wink wink nod nod at how referential they are by having his jacket showcase more of his chest. No wonders their artists are all women or shilling Calexit. Also for reasons unspecified, Rick is now against cis hets.

I really fucking hate this series and I hate that it had potential to be pretty damn fun (pilot and first three eps of Season 1 were pretty great) and they just stopped going for the cool sci-fi vs slice of life episode format and went full on "lol memes, multiverse and aliens" in every single damn episode. The only S2 episode that was any good was the Tinyverse one because seeing Rick being torn apart by one of his own creations, then seeing him making such mean spirited comebacks without "muh portals" was rather fun.

The new episode was such bullshit. I can't believe that they somehow made a story about going to a Mad Max universe look and feel so fucking boring, and the whole reason they even went there was to get a big green rock that makes electricity. And holy hell was Summer annoying in this, acting like a fucking sociopathic hard-ass because MUH PARENTS DIVORCED.

Also, why was the last thread deleted?

Jesus. You guys have such a hate boner for this.

Because even the mods hate reddit and maymay.

Considering the mods been cleaning on the board finally all of OP's posts may have been deleted.

They don't focus on comedy, they focus on drama and try to pretend it's comedy.

That's even worse

Please understand how she feels, user.

Pic related.
Rick and Morty is dead. Just sit back and watch the body bloat and explode.

rainbowhairs have taken over the staff, probably at Williams Street's urging.

Abandon ship.

a fate that could have predicted
you only had to listen

I dont like it

What should I be looking a-
The show is doomed and will become the new Adventure Time.

The thread became an unmanageable mess of anons laying obvious bait and idiot anons taking the bait, derailed beyond any hope of getting back on track.

To clean it up and save myself the tedious task of having to delete every single off-topic post, I deleted the thread and made a new one for you guys to complain about Rick and Morty in.

For future reference, please stop taking bait. Hide it, ignore it, and report it if it isn't Holla Forums related. Thank you.

Polite sage for being off-topic.

What are you all, some kind of sexists?

...

They should have just ended the show at the one where Rick and Morty kill the Earth with a potion.

Instead of:

...

It's the best from their point of view because they don't have to do any more work.

how do you figure?
source?

i havnt watched it yet. i heard its mediocre trash.
is this true? or an overreaction.

It was completely unfunny, unimaginative crap.
Stupid cancerous mad tampax faggotry, more viral marketting for an atrocious piece of shit remake.

Nothing happened in it, nothing funny occurred at all. Stronk wymyn - with the only other event being the same repeated scene of morty hitting someone 500 times.

Series is going to die, writer etc is going to be replaced and it will be marketted towards children. Watch.

Something funny has had all humour removed by forcing cunts into the production of it - and it's beautiful.

I would have ended it at the Season 2 cliffhanger.

It's like you don't want to let innocent an pure anons to read the opinion that might them to leave the board.
Haven't we seen this before ? already ? somewhere else ?
Anyway volunteer san I hope that you're legit and your bank account isn't been filled for censoring posts that isn't conform to ones ideas/marketing_plan.
Because I think you already know where this ultimately leeds.

So are the future R&M threads the new /jojo/ ?

Fake news

And the link better be unshortened.

That was okay. Felt like it could have been a mediocre season 1 episode, which I'll take over a terrible season 2 episode.

Was ok better than most season 2 episodes by a wide margin but it was a summer episode so 5/10. Morty and Summer dealing with their parents divorce in one episode was great since now the rest of the season won't be bogged down with it. The best joke of the episode for me was the after credits with the stray dog that just wants jerry to suffer simply because it had a good execution. Jerry and Beth will be reconciled by the 6th episode unless jerry gets killed when he's hanging out with cyborg rick.

Not to be hyperbolic or anything, but that was without a doubt the worst episode ever.

For me the best joke was Beth offering to go run in a stream with Morty and him immediately shitting on the idea. The rest of the episode was pretty meh.

>Morty and Summer dealing with their parents divorce in one episode was great since now the rest of the season won't be bogged down with it.
Hahaha yeah no that's not how these hacks operate and you know it.

or they'll fire the bitches

Why? who are those people? Did they already run a show on daytime CN into the ground? This is all Dan Harmon btw, he's a fucking kike.
Roiland on his own isn't that bad.

To be fair, the nigger was the president at the time.
They did another episode in an alt universe with a white president brokering peace between humans and spiders. I don't see the nigger president being a big deal.
pretty sure Jerry's dad wasn't to be revered.

...

Morty and Summer have passed the divorce hurdle. Beth, Jerry, and Rick still have baggage which will be the point of at least 2 episodes. You're not completely wrong but still pretty wrong.

So is season 3 any good so far?

Compared to the previous seasons, it's about the same in my opinion. It's not any worse or any better, just on par.

Ep 2 was actually pretty lame.
The muscle memory injection idea was pretty cool though.

Thanks

...

The episode that just aired, or the show itself? Because the answer is yes, either way

At first I thought the scene with Morty killing the guy in the tub was from an entirely different episode. It makes no sense to have a medieval serfdom in a madmax style setting when the Apocalypse could've only happened a couple of decades beforehand. It reeks of game of thrones wanking.

Can we agree that Morty was great in this episode?

No

Why?

The arm was the real star

Comedy gold.

>>>/reddit/

Is the joke that they keep repeating "Gazorpazorpfield" and "mumunmununsday" over and over?

The arm was mediocre at best.

Most of the dimension dont make sense

Wishes he was a kike, user. Wishes.

It's a satire on how awful Garfield is. It's only funny if you hate Garfield.

Yes user, incase you didn't notice both interdimensiional cable episodes were just a bunch of low effort non sequiturs shoved into a flimsy pretense of a plot.

Like a Familyguy cut away.

That's just the skit from the show but less funny.

Like laugauna cat?

Maybe they'll fire the cunts before they do a 4th season, try to wipe it from the memory like DMC2.

That's illegal in the (((current year))), user.

Quit being a defeatist bitch.
It's the Modern Day.

archive.is/qbdfO :^)

Really makes you think, doesn't it?

Why does every single user go "Roiland a good boy, he dindu nuffin iz all da ebil Harmon's fault!!" and still watch the shitshow that Harmon creates?
Do you somehow think that continuing to watch the show as it gets worse due to Harmon's meddling that Roiland will get any credit or extra money out of the show?

I guess it's to watch the shitshow burn itself to the ground or if they'll wise up and not do what marvel did and maybe turn it around for a 4th season. I dont lose anything by continuing to watch it.

Quit being such a fucking wastrel. Will you? Have some godforsaken self-worth for once. Make value of your time here, and don't throw it away.

hilarious lasagna cat btfo

It quickly became the simpsons, they're like: "Haha remember our take on TripTank? No? Wel, l remember it again!"

More that Rick became really annoying.

Grandson breaks legs
Get dumped by alien hivemind
Rick is just a Bipolar, manic depressive, drunkard prick that spouts off psuedo-intellectual horseshit to justify behavior that destroys entire worlds. It was fun in season 1 now it's just a drag.

To tell you the truth I just said that because is now a FULL female writer team, and look what happened with Adventure Time when women got too much opinion of it. They turned the adventures of the last human boy and his magical dog into 'Cucking Finn: The show'

Agreed.

Just seeing a few clips I noticed they are pushing hard the whole Summer shit.

I hope everyone dies in the end of the series except Morty and his dad, being fred from a shitty family.

It was meant to be a different episode where they would have a device that made them jump into different books and live there, since books are pocket dimensions or some shit like that.
The medieval shit was probably a leftover from the original episode.

You are hyperbolic. Shwifty is by far the worst, most unfunny one episode and I doubt any of season 3 will get to that levels of retarded.

Also, why would he care about Beth and Summer? Morty is there to camouflage his brainwaves, so he's an asset.

and who is mr. Bulldops

That is correct Mi Amigo, but let me stir the pot a wee bit further from the Castiglia House blogpost on Dan Harmon's "talents" as a comedic writer. If by comedy you mean riffing on shit you watched at home. From castaliahouse.com/community-the-sperglord-sitcom/ / archive.is/dQPJ1:

Now I would be a straight up hypocrite if I didn't say I haven't had a good series of long hard chuckles when the show was on the air. But let's be real about the Dan Harmon's and Pat Oswald's that have infected all realms of comedy in the 21st century. Their schtick nowadays is more about endless riffs on the TV/movies they've watched rather than funny or compelling observations of everyday life and real human foibles in all walks or life. Not unlike how Mike Judge's comedies tend to be timeless, because they precisely talk about observational truths because he's been in so many professions. By contrast Dan Harmon's work is about shitty riffs on the most basic of bitches stuff about shit he's watched.

Now while watching say MST3K can be kinda charming at times. It was a lightening in a bottle kinda gig, and in many ways the last 17 odd years of what has passed for comedy has been nothing but fucking racial swaps and ripping off old shit that everybody saw. And when you've been through shit for so long because every fucking (((goon))) in the media just fucking luuuuuuurves their endless basic bitch riffing on "cult products" it tends to be a bit mentally tiring to fucking watch and or hear. Which makes fucking sense from a guy like Dan Harmon who looks like fucking shit and looks like fucking MovieBob if he survived his fucking forties.

...

An easy way of turning Rick and Morty into racist, misogynistic shitlords.
masterofallscience.com

I mean you want an example of how Dan Harmon writes? Look at this from his wikipedia page: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dan_Harmon under "Story Embryo":

So his entire writing technique is playing OC DONUT STEEL MAH ACADEMIC WRITING THEORY! Just more fucking riffs brah, donut steel this shit brah. Do not, do not.

I have a simpler way of doing this, just give Andrew Dice Clay an unlimited budget.

Dan really is a selfsabotaging loser who's a parasitic growth on Justin Roiland.

Now there's one more hat trick to why Dan Harmon's muscling in on the show is causing the humor to be fucking drained, it's this (from archive.is/dQPJ1 ):
Now my fellow Holla Forums-conspirators, every user sooner or later wants to get their dicks wet in a hole somewhere or have a have a natural hole filled. And the whole mating is part and parcel of human existence, and some of the humor when Justin is in the drivers seat sorta allows for that shit to happen. When Dan (who's now running the show 24/7 now it seems) doesn't believe in romance, hmm, I wonder why, oh yeah, the one woman he finally sealed the deal with, Erin McGathy ditched his ass back in 2015 (As seen in the far left picture).
So maybe, just maybe all this women's equality bullshit is an attempt by Dan Harmon to see if he can get himself some pussy by playing Airport's Law, since he hasn't gotten laid since she left? Just a thot son, just a thought.
Correct on that account too.

No, you are not.

Dan has a younger girlfriend, though.
She likes daddy/daughter porn, so she's his ideal mate.

...

Adult Swim must be feeling anxious now.
The ratings were good, but I don't know what's gonna happen now.

Well consider the Trump curse:
Since they cancelled World Peace, I think the Trump curse is about to hit Cartoon Network/Adult Swin any moment now.

Wait wait wait. Are they shitting on Jerry because he wants to get back his children from a psycotic mother who would sacrifice all her children for parental aproval?

Once again shitting in the parental figure, right?

Yup, yup, yup.
Dan "cuck for a quick buck" Harmon really deserves it.

Why would Rick care about any versions of his family? He could rape Beth, Summer, and Morty without it having any consequences for him.

Because the writing is inconsistent and the writers are hacks.

Yes, you're right. Rick is really the antagonist of the show and Jerry is a reasonable person in comparison.
Keep in mind that he got fired from his job because the aliens that were after Rick put him in a simulation.

I think the show is trying to imply that Rick genuinely cares for this version of his family. Especially in Rickmancing the Stone where he sticks around with Morty and Summer and provides a rather flimsy excuse for doing it because "The effort to keep you kids alive is less than the effort to go to an alternate dimension and pick up another alternate version of her".

Though this simultaneously is directly contradicted and reinforced by the earlier episode about he apocalypse.

It's like doctor who where timetravel and regeneration makes all inconsistencies go away because it's timey-wimey, except with parallel dimensions.

I'm also a bit upset after hearing Morty comforting his mother because his 'realization' is that Jerry didn't care enouth about their family to tolerate Rick risking their lives over and over.

For fuck's sake, the first season was so good and the second season was, more or less, tolerable.

Rick should really be like "The Stepfather" serial killer and move to another dimension in every season after he's gotten the previous version of his family killed. That's why the whole Cronenberg episode had a good payoff to me, despite the faggotry.
I just wish they would make Rick as callous and uncaring as he's hyped up to be.

Why am I doing this to myself? Why am I looking at more clips of this piece of shit expecting not to find cancer?

Morty did accept that they abandoned his family in the Cronenberg dimension, so he's becoming as weird and detached as Rick, I guess.

I guess Morty will become the new Finn, where the writers will keep making him weaker while giving more attention to other female characters and he'll just suffer more and more.

This will become the new JoJo threads.

Bitches, man. They ruin everything.

Nah, Morty will come out as a transsexual and Rick will use his scientific skills to turn him into a real girl, chromosomes and all.

To be fair, Rick having sex with Morty does have some precedent in with the "doc and mharti" episodes.

looks like a slightly altered heroes journey

It is, except there's no closure.
It's the hero's journey if the hero was Sisyphus with Alzheimer's.

rick hasn't changed, morty hasn't changed, jerry hasn't changed, beth hasn't changed, summer hasn't changed, nothing's changed with the main characters.
the divorce won't change them either.

Holy shit, what a revolutionary concept! Character growth by doing and being involved in things! This truly is deserving of it's own special title and a diagram and some pretentious flowery prose!

What a fucking faggot. Someone should punch him in the dick.

...

Except in harmon's tv shows that doesn't even happen. It just resets and starts over.

They just used a reverse effect.

Looks like they're taking the Family Guy route, adding more gratuitous F-bombs only because they'll be uncensored on DVD

Where can I find normalfags whinging about the new episodes? I doubt that I'd see anything negative about it on reddit.

Fuck me. Just spent the past half an hour looking for a download link. Turns out I'm too retarded to understand timezones.

Normalfags don't waste their life shitting on popular things, that's what we do.
Normalfags don't find reasons to hate something just because it's popular or seems like "Reddit", we do.
Normalfags don't spend night and day reposting dumb memes about how Rick is an edgy nihilist that burps a lot in the hopes someone, somewhere will take the bait and validate their existence for as long as their shitpost stays online, because cloaking their true feelings about anything in seven layers of irony and 2 memes is the only joy they can still grasp in their bitter, empty lives.

We do.

Rick isn't totally callous and amoral because it's implied he already went through that stage and now he's trying to bring some normalcy to his life,

The sad part is Season 1 wasn't so bad, but it's just been a downhill race from that point on

By getting his daughter divorces and turning himself into a pickle…

The venture bros. made me depressed to be honest. It was too good in portraying the glorious sci-fi future we could have had instead of the shitshow we got.

To be fair, there was a moment when Rick said "Lick my balls" to Morty in one of the episodes.

And he did draw Doc from "Doc and Mharti" in the Tiny Rick episode.

...

I love Venture Bros, but I honestly don't understand what you're trying to achieve by comparing it to Rick and Morty. There are plenty of shows that make Rick and Morty looks shit.

Damn, back in the day people were really homophobic

Do you mean freed?

When will the next episode air?

Why would someone would want this? No matter how you look at it Jerry is shit, and he was purposely write that way since episode one.
He is not a punching bag for being a white male, fuck, he is actually really fucking progressive, more so than Rick or anyone else, not to mention that he is PC too.

In 8 minutes.
Magestream will stream it.

That low animation quality really stands out in stills like this.

Anyone got a mega for episode 3 yet?

It's like it was meant to be animated

I am sorry, but Episode 3 was fucking amazing.

He only did it after Rick's ship wrote a peace treaty.

Of course you don't.

Hey there reddit.

...

Nothing made me laugh and I hate how No one ever called Beth on her shit. However, Rick's actual fights in the episode were pretty cool and I would not be opposed to seeing more Jaguar.

...

Kill yourself.
What makes this show suck hard is the family shit (more than just that but that's the part that kills it for me), and Rick should be an unloving asshole to even his daughter. I'd even prefer him not to be a party-goer, and just hate everyone for not being as smart as him.
Actually, I wouldn't mind the dysfunctional family crap, as long as Rick kicks them around/doesn't pick sides and flips everyone off. Morty shouldn't be so bad so as to partner with Rick more often, but the women and Jerry should be shat on, at the very least (though not saying Rick shouldn't beat up on Morty).
Also, the Jewish presence of Jerry and his children is a slight irk.

This. I want summer to be over soon.

Episode 3 of season 3 is only good for showing what's wrong with this show as well as its high-points.

Actually, part of the reason for his liking of Morty could just be that he finds women as less than men. You know, they brought that up in that feminist utopia episode sci-fi shows like to do.

Alternatively, the parents could just be self-hating cunts to everyone, including their children, while Rick sort of helps them out from them.
I dunno, just don't have the show following the stupid "adult cartoon" tropes.

Is all subtly lost on you? The entire episode demonized Beth and Rick's attitudes and relationship. You're angry no one outright stated it. You're either incredibly dense or incredibly retarded.

Really sick of this fashion now.
Anyone with this haircut+beard trend following fucking faggotry should be branded with F A G on their forehead.
They can escape it far too easily, by shaving and not having the same haircut a year or two from now when it isn't popular anymore, but they deserve permanent punishment.

Especially for the crime of tainting beards with fucking faggotry. I've seen so much the 'lumberjack' hipster look that when I see beard I see leftist homosexuality. At least greeks and romans shaved their beards and they were faggots, but not so raging hard leftist gay shit.

Only when they died out and at the end of every stage before that.

Just saw the pickle episode, and I don't know how to feel besides questioning if they are self aware that both Rick and his daughter are irredemable and damned to be failures.

I just wish they didn't made Jerry so much into a spineless loser and I wish he could grow a spine like in the cronenber episode.

Well, it's still just the 3rd episode…
God I hope Jerry gets his shit together and man the fuck up.

PICKLE

RICK

Kind of wish that cuck and his bitch of a wife would stay to together, to be even bigger assholes to others than Rick is. You know, when they make fun of the kids in an episode.
Anyway, Morty being Jewish bothers the crap out of me. You can imagine his hair to be all curly and gross.
Anyway, surely the only ones who like this pile of sewage are shills?

*they'd get their due, of course.

...

This would be a problem if it was a kid's show teaching kids this. But it's not, is an adult show. The only reason you would feel threatened by this if it's you project yourself into Jerry.
Bird person was about to marry and Rick was married at some point. Other than that, I don't see how marriage is even relevant in a science fiction show.
So that's all you get from Jerry's character? Not his pathetic approach of parenthood that usually backfire like his father being a literal cuck? That his ideology makes him a pussy? What does that have to do with him being white? If he was black but written the same your autism would be ok? Of course not, you'd bitch about crossbreeding.
Jerry is shit because deep down he is a faggot that can't stand for himself, his wife only married to him because he got her pregnant, and the only good thing about him is that he had the balls to stay, but after that he did fucking nothing, because he sucks at his job and his wife has a better one, he thinks he is really smart when he is not, he is actually egotistic and childish and he only gets in the way of Rick and Morty's adventures in a retarded way. But all of this is obviously because he is white and not because he is a person with personal problems that pin him down so hard he doesn't even realize and probably will never get better.

But you're right, him being a punching bag is getting old. He should just be killed and that's it, although I enjoyed the wolf part.

This is actually why I hate season 1 finale.

Leftist ruins everything. I used to love girls with crazy hairstyles and hair colors, but they took that away from us. I still love those styles, but now they are a red flag. What used to be freedom and probably nihilism is now feminism activism.

Only at the end it went public and accepted. They probably did it way before that, specially with that they thought about semen.

This show is shit, but so are you.

*to clarify,
Only difference now is SJWism. Before you still avoided them because it screamed "ATTENTION" and/or "I'M A PROSTITUTE" (seriously, whores wore excessive make-up and fake/colored hair)

I never implied the contrary, user, but they were for a different reason. Admiteddly, it have something to do with ideology. Those girls used to do hard drugs and shit on the world. Now they want "equal" treatment and recycle.
Dunno about you, but I rather girls that don't give a shit about anything that girls that gives too much shit about everything. At least goths are still more or less the same. But sadly (((Scene kids))) exists.

I don't watch very much of this show, but I could have sworn that over a year ago I saw a similar clip of Pickle Rick building an exoskeleton out of rat parts and then murdering things.

Yeah i think they showed the basic animation at a panel a couple years ago.
I'm pretty sure much of R&M works on just splicing together separate scenes and tying it up in a mostly sensical story.

It was actually a few months ago and it was to showcase the new season. It was in April.

Found it. It was from San Diego Comic-Con 2016, so just a little over a year ago.

It's the concept of "take older property/genre, and then put a modern comedic twist on it" Venture bros does it infinitly better as a Johnny Quest parody than Reddit and Memey does as aBTTF parody

...

Beth said it out of spite to mock her. It was meant to be stupid from Beth.

Rick and Morty isn't supposed to be a parody of BTTF anymore, that's Doc and Marthi, which at this point are completely different things.

Damn I supposed my asperger didn't let me understand it as a joke. oh well

A parody isn't just a direct spoof of the original.
R&M still qualifies as one because it takes the basis of the BTTF trilogy and puts a twist on it.
Yet they'd rather carbon-copy Mad Max than admit how much they owe to BTTF.

Another thing, The reason why Doc was the moral anchor in the original trilogy, as opposed to Marty, was that having a character with the power and without the moral hang-ups would make all characters -except "the Marty" maybe- expendable.
Like these anons said >>901169 there's no logic behind Rick behind attached to the family, especially since it's been shown multiple times he can brush off their deaths easily and start again like nothing happened. Gale wasn't stupid and knew that if Doc was the kind of man to not give a shit about others he could just hop from an alternate timeline to the other whenever he wanted, thus making it impossible for the audience to get attached and involved in any character or setting in there.

A "smart show for smart people" and it's fueled by illogical and inconsistent behavior, good job.

Good read user, It really nails down everything I have wrong with the show. You can't have it both ways, the show either "has heart" with actual emotional investment or the show is "haha God's not real morty, wub a luba dub dub let's go do morally dubious things!"

The few times the showrunners try and pretend that Rick actually cares about the family are insulting, we know Rick doesn't give two shits, why would he?

There's literally no need and I'm pretty sure the producers are against time travel shit.
It's a comedy show, user. Whoever thinks he is smart by watching a comedy show should off himself, and you're even more stupid by not realizing that.
Also, what an stupid pic
You sound like you shouldn't watch Adult Swim at all.

His own selfish reasons. He already stated that they are "irreplaceable without investing too much time that would ultimately defeat the purpose". As for why exactly, this episode said he likes to have things under control, and from the looks of it he is probably just old and lonely. Rick have feelings, like that episode where he wanted to kill himself.

The show (and western media in general) is torn between edgy nihilism and trying to express genuine heart. The 20th century left a pretty huge scar across literary canon and art in general due to its horrors, and a lot of contemporary art deals with nihilism versus personal investment in the face of a meaningless and often traumatizing world.

He is shopping for them in a mall in the OPENING.

Jesus, no need to post so much 3DPD shit.

You completely missed the point of that image you retard, the show pretends to be much smarter and deeper than it really is, and I have no problem with a show being a dumb mess of absurdism, ATHF is great, but ATHF never took itself seriously or tried to make legitimate arguments and espout worldviews or ideology at people, Rick and Morty has all the marks of absurdism but none of the self-awarness, this show takes itself way too seriously.

See

This sentence really sums you up as a person.
Now go, you've ashamed yourself enough.

Again, the show tries to pretend that this is some sort of real emotional attachment, you can't have it both ways, either Rick is an asshole with no morals or it's just a front and he really does care about his family, you can't have it both ways though, Rick is so inconsistently written, half the time he'd be willing to screw over the family, but other times the writers seem to want to imply "he really cares deep down" It's all so fucking forced

REDDIT AND MEMEY

Refer to
>irreplaceable without investing too much time that would ultimately defeat the purpose
There are plenty of versions of them but none of them would be exactly like his current family and trying to replicate it backfired. Not to mention that some of the scenes in the opening are not shown in the serie.

The show pretends nothing, idiot, you're the only one who see it that way like a redditor would do. The producers even said that they don't usually research the science things they talk about because is just science fiction. Only an idiot would take it seriously because it's a comedy show in Adult Swim, which is known for doing over the top wacky and violent shows. Whoever takes Rick and Morty views of the world seriously is a fucking moron, like you, because science fiction is not real to begin with, which is why the pic is so fucking stupid, you're taking it way too seriously.
Rick constantly breaks the fourth wall and makes fun of it's own usage of meaningless science fiction words. There are times that it takes itself too serious, but none of those times try to give a message, like the evil Morty episode.

You can fuck me over by saying there should be infinite versions of birdperson, but I don't think you're that smart.

This is what I'm talking about user, you can't say the show is just mindless fun with no real message or moral and then tell me that Rick's a good guy deep down that really does love his family, the show has to be one or the other.

Beyond a few clips I haven't watched any R&M before this season came out. I have heard incredible praise from a lot of people. The three episodes I have seen have been okay. Nothing special. Archer is a better show over all.
Are these episodes not up to cuff or is the show not as good as people have said it is?

Really puts things into perspective. Thanks for sharing, user.

Oh my god, I had no idea. That's

Which episodes were they?

Watch the first season, and then pretend the show got cancelled after that, Season 2 is a mixed bag and S3 seems to be full on memes and women in the writers room ruining the show

I've seen the 3 episodes of season 3

Is season 1 a "noticeably cheaper but better written" scenario or is it just funnier than season 3?

Whats wrong with woman?

Lack of a penis

Season 1 was basically just a normal show that didn't try so hard to be funny, and as a result it was much better than the absolutely embarassing attempts to appeal to the audience in S2 and 3, total pander-fests

Season 1 is alright. It has some funny jokes and neat sequences, kind of like early Family Guy.
Season 2 is noticeably worse compared to Season 1. About 2 of those episodes are good, around half are decent, while the rest are pretty bad. This is when the edgy Reddit nihilism really began to hit it's zenith.
Season 3 thus far is shaping up to be even worse. It really reflects what the image posted was getting at, and i'm not even half way through 'Pickle Rick'.

I'm just gunna outright say it, Women are horrible at writing comedy, because a sizeable majority of them are overly empathetic, to the point that they can't fathom offending someone else, and naturally, because comedy is supposed to offend, comedy written by women will suffer

More like they're scared of being socially rejected by offending someone so they only use sage jokes. Women do not give a single fuck about anyone's feelings outside of what others think about them.

A major thing is that most male comedians use comedy of a sort of defense mechanism. It is that since they are unable to be a good hunter they provide for the tribe through a different means. Woman ain't so much bout proving their worth, rather they are a prize fought over. Also being funny is not an obvious quantifiable difference that a woman can hold over other women so it is less pursued by the sex.

It's hilarious how America, whether it is right-wing or leftist, is always portraying Russia as boogeyman and Russians as acceptable targets.

So after seeing this thread, I figured I'd give this show a shot. I've seen bits and pieces, but never really watched whole episodes.

It's not very good. It could be argued that the entertainment comes from their willingness to animate all kinds of absurdist shit, but that gimmick wears thin quickly. I'm about 8 episodes in, on the TV episode, and I'm already tired of their shit. Every "joke" is just a guy saying something weird, and then explaining the joke, and then drawing attention to the way they explained the joke, delivered in an awkward, stilted stutter where they keep in all the "ums" and pauses, like it's somehow more comical when they do it all in a painfully unnatural style of speech.

Repeat for 15 minutes, intercut the remaining run time with drama about Morty's parents having marital problems, with the distant muffled sounds of retards patting themselves on the back for appreciating "the smartest cartoon on TV" or some shit.

The big gang theory of animated comedy
yup big bang theory meets doctor who the animated series

Burp = Bazinga

Maybe if you have brain damage.
What does giving no message have to do with having feelings at all? You can be the biggest dick in the world but you can also go crying every night about how lonely you are. Sure, is stupid, but doesn't change the fact that deep down you'd like things to change but you just can't change them. That's not deep, that's q basic human challenge.
Rick is just as flawed as everyone else on the show despite being the smartest guy in existence, and my point is that you can have the biggest idiot in the world trying hard to be something he isn't under a facade of nihilism.

3 episodes in and I can't recall a single meme other than the sauce thing and I'm not sure if that counts since it wasn't a meme until it aired.

Although more or less true, what makes a true funny comedian is chronic depression, low self-stem and self deprecation. You wouldn't be able to make comedy of the things around you if you don't apart yourself from them, even and specially if you are part of it. That's not to say all your comedy have to reflect how sad you are, quite the contrary, but you still have the hate things at some stage in order to criticize them and for people to feel empathy for it without going too deep into the implications. The guy that made the "plane food" joke first probably had a bad experience with it and anyone who laughs at it might understand how shitty it is by either experiencing it or just plain imagination.
Being a comedian is really fucking sad, the "comedy reaches girls" is utter bullshit because you can't be funny 24/7, and bad comedians are usually the happiest. I miss Robin Williams

Don't be a retard, Russians were always one of the "bad guys of choice" along with Muslims and Nazis after 9/11 and WW2. They all were at some point enemies of America so it's obvious they'd be portrayed that way in America.

They are both terrible, because there's one like that in season 2 too. It have it's points because those episodes are entirely made up, it's just Justin Roiland and other voice actors dicking around in the mic and then that got animated. Everything sounds improvised because everything was improvise. Hell, even Rick says it sounds like it's almost improvised.

Go the fuck back to reddit you bumbling manchild.

Nice post, user.

Jesus Christ, is this you Justin Roliand? If it is just tell Dan Harmon to fuck off and run the show on your own, he's obviously fucking you in the head with his bullshit

It has to do with the show's blatant lack of morals, that it holds high to get brownie points from the atheist intellectuals from reddit, you can't have Rick going "brrrrr God's not real Morty, fuck morals I do what I want" and then expect the audience to believe, much less give a shit, when Rick does something selfless for his family, It's out of character and consistently inconsistent, Rick can't be a maverick with no morals AND a tsundere for his family, proving that actually does have morals, it's contradictory

Memebait is probably the right word for it, stuff like the mcdonalds sauce and pickle rick, you know what they were aiming for with that stuff user, don't be obtuse

You guys are ruining one of my favorite shows. I'm hiding this thread now.

People criticizing something you like doesn't change the show. It is still the show you liked. You may now notice something you didn't before, like that star wars chick that never closes her mouth, but internet complaints can't destroy something worth watching.

You're a fucking faggot if you can't take criticism of something you like

It you can't even bother to defend it what does that really say about it's merit user?

Also, they had the fucking devil in one episode, so it's kinda hard to pretend there's no god in their multiverse.

Dan Harmon is such a hack fraud.
About Community's third season:
So he's just rehashing his old Community bullshit, but in an animated sci-fi show.

The thing about that is that Rick probably isn't aware of it himself. Not to mention that he is a liar and a big hypocrite. Look at it as when people say "I will never love again" or "I will never drink again", at the moments you said it it's probably true but you probably would do it again. You don't need to have morals to love your family, is just the human condition and even the Robots in the second episode said so.
If it doesn't help, think of the first episode of the second season where he says he is ok with dying because there's no other way while the other Ricks keep blaming Morty for dooming him. The moment he sees he can be saved he immediately changes his mind and starts praying and the moment he saved himself he says there are no gods.
Basically, being inconsistent is part of his character. Notice that most of the times he misses his family when he realize how lonely he is while the rest of the time he treats them like shit.
Not really. There's not such thing as a fabricated meme. Maybe because I don't hang near normalfags anymore but something like that sounds way too forced for me to become a meme. Meme are something that are just born from people's retardation and fixation over trivial stuff. The sauce was just the running gag of the episode, it's like Kel from Kennan and Kel liking Orange Soda, is a basic trope of TV. You can say is lazy writing but I seriously doubt it's main objective was making a meme.
I give you that maybe writers learned to manipulate people's autism to fabricate memes, but only retards would really fall for that.

That was obviously bait. Please hide and report.

If you adhere to the scientific method and accept the devil is real and still deny god is real (in the rick and morty canon,) then that's more than just being inconsistent.
It's denying evidence purely because of preconceived notions.

They could just play the bullshit hyper dimensional being for the devil. Rip some pages from Lovecraft, wouldn't be the first time, won't be the last.

Or they gonna pretend it never happened.

If you meet fantasy and unnatural beings on daily basis they stop having any kind of power on you, which is why he was unimpressed when he met the devil and screwed him over.
In this last episode it was showed so when the psychologist read him entirely and he kept denying psychology as a real science and even had the Psychologist killed. Rick is flawed, and one of those flaws is being preconceived just because he is "the smartest being in the universe".

I didn't see the psychologist getting killed, but I could have missed that part.

At the end of the episode when Jaguar saves Rick and Morty Morty asks who was that and Rick answers with "He is the reason you don't have to go to therapy anymore". She was supposedly killed off-screen by Jaguar.

The point is that if the devil is real, then god is/was real as well.
You cannot have the devil without god.

No, Rick said "this is why you don't go to therapy." He wouldn't have met Jaguar if he'd gone with them to therapy as scheduled.

Well I mean all you gotta do is make them weak and depower a target for rick to beat up on for maximum coolness.

I'm reminded of Bob the Devil & God (Except that was good).

Except the devil had a moment where he fucking showed not to fuck with him because just because he put on a show as a meeker smaller guy, he was still the fucking devil with all the power that entails.

Says who? And what if God is a being like the devil was in that episode? Rick would still be unimpressed and probably would find a way to fuck him over. Rick is preconceived and hardly changes his mind Like Holla Forums

Ah. Although I my version better.

The devil is the primary opponent of god, at least in christianity.

I'd love to see an episode where Rick meets someone who may be God who keeps fucking him over to try and teach him humility or some shit, just so we can see Rick lose in a spectacular fashion in front of everyone. Would be a good experience for Rick.

Has rick ever lost?

...

Season 3 Episode 3 He loses to Beth and the kids and ends up getting told by a therapist.

He didn't lose shit, he's still the man of the house and a husband substitute to Beth.
Losing would mean not getting away with that whole "all according to keikaku/I'm playing 56-dimensional chess" and just have someone fuck that nigga up real good.

That's the thing, no matter how hard Rick get's fucked over the writers will pull that "It was part of my plan all along!" bullshit, it's irritating beyond belief, out of all the characters in the show that deserve their comeuppance, it's rick, but he's got no consequences for his actions, ever

Are we meant to relate to any of the characters?

Yet I don't see Rick killing any Muslims. Or Regular Show cast finding a Muslim spy in their cast. Also I absolutely love how Russians are still portrayed as what is equivalent of portraying blacks with thick red lips and bones in their noses and hair.

Leftists don't mock muslims because they know muslims will kill them.

They made fun of muslims in season 1.
But that's not kosher nowadays, I guess.

See, this shit was funny.

Dan "cucknigga extraordinaire" Harmon pozzed the Rick and Morty writing process with his political correctness and white man's shame.
Hopefully Justin Roiland will move on and use his voice acting money to restart something better.
Maybe his vidya gaems venture will be where he'll bring the crazy. I know he's a goldbug and that he goes on imageboards, so maybe there's hope.

Thanks, only the best for (You).

My god, no. The faggot fell for the VR meme and the games they are developing are VR exclusives or mobile shit. Sorry for killing it for you.

Unless all of the animation was finished a yer ago this is some real shit

What was the joke? What was I missing?

Please stop spamming Holla Forums.
okty

It was mostly gore and some jabs at "le evil russian", I didn't find it funny either and I didn't think they could make it worst than the last episode.

I think it was meant to be a john wick parody?

Yeah, then the whole therapist thing. I thought the joke was how she diagnosed Rick but even that wasn't funny. It's like they hyped up the entire episode because they knew it had nothing in it.

Was it? I've got no clue, the whole embassy thing seemed like a generic action movie

We could've had an episode where Rick goes through some shit where he has to deal with how inconsequential he is when his ego has nothing to feed on. Instead we had LOLRANDUM violence. Again. And then Rick comes into therapy as though all that asskicking taught him a lesson when there was clearly none the whole sequence gave him. If anything, I would've liked more therapy. I would've liked Beth starting to wonder about her dad, even if she reverted in the end. Or Summer and Morty starting to lean towards their dad in some greater sympathy. Instead, status quo.

That's the Dan Harmon TV show formula for you.

IDK S3E3 was pretty damn funny.

Yeah, they really hammered in the divorce thing at the beginning and I always picked up that the dad "cared more" about the kids than the mom and would've loved to see what happened there but we got nothing except that awkward bit at the end.

Dan Harmon seems to be a broken man.
His divorce must have been hilarious.

Never mind, he cheated on his wife.
How bourgeois of him.

The intensity of someone's virtue signalling is usually proportional to the amount of guilt they harbor for the terrible things they know they've done. Like all those pedophiles and rapists who spent the better part of 2 years screeching about GamerGate and misogynists.

I used to laugh at the jokes in the show. Season 1 was the best. Second season was all right but was more hit and miss. I haven't laughed at all three episodes into the new season. The rhythm of everything feels completely off. Justin Roiland sounds bored reciting most of his lines. His enthusiasm is completely dead when he voices Rick or Morty.

I'm not feeling it this season. If it got cancelled right here and now, I wouldn't care at this point.

Nothing. You're missing absolutely fucking nothing, user, because that episode was nothing. There was no point to any of this.

Fucking THIS.

When was that image made, or did you make it?

That's because you're not thinking about what would be best for a child, but what you want. Not saying you were planning on having children, of course.

Can you imagine Dan's face contorted in the throes of sexual ecstasy? His ugly beard and sweaty forehead, looming down on you?
it really is a powerful image, this morbidly obese man-whale engulfing this poor woman with this fat folds.

You could even have the idea of God himself fucking Rick over benefiting him. Think about it, Rick could easily say that it took God Almighty to personally intervene to ruin his plans and that's the standard it takes to defeat him.

Even normalfag/reddit memes are starting to chastise the show.

i never felt interested in the angel guy because the art style was kinda weird, but you guys are selling it so well I'm tempted in look for some episodes.

Just check the first few episodes to get a taste of it. They're on youtube.

I haven't started season 3 and I've been putting it off after reading about how the writers have been swapped in for a more diverse team of half women and half men.

How's it panning out so far? Do it feel like a crossover with Stephen Universe?

...

Season 3 has a Mary Sue protag?

Yes. He's called Rick.

That's like saying Fist of the North Star is bad because Kenshiro is utterly invincible. That's why people watch the show.

...

That therapist was right, Rick is a 100% megafaggot who simultaneously acts like he's always right while never owning up to the fact that he fucked his own life up.
How do you fuck your own life up when you can create a mech-suit and assembly line out of rat organs and bug legs?

The fuck kind of nose is that on the right? It looks like a comb.

Nice try, but Kenshiro actually loses. If not in battle, then through the cores of his life. His best friend, family and fiance all die despite his best efforts (the last one dies of radiation poisoning before the post-Raoh chapters even start). He doesn't actually get to do whatever he points and get away with it.

Next you'll be saying Korra isn't a Mary Sue.

Kenshiro loses in, what, 5 or 6 episodes out of 155? 95% of the time Kenshiro isn't in any danger whatsoever.
Even after he loses to a guy once, he just comes back and beats the piss out of them anyway.

And yet he suffers much more (not just Korra level angst) than Rick, which is what you fail to grasp Mr. Redditor. His first story arc even ends with him failing to save Julia (which if not for a retcon would have been her end).

it goes back to the "juvenile nihilism" aspect of the show. It doesn't matter that Rick is a colossal asshole who destroys whole universes and ruins the lives of everyone around him, bringing suffering upon everyone who sees him, because there's an infinite number of other universes and nothing matters and it's all bullshit and no one exists for any reason and there's no God and so on and so on…
But put all that aside for a moment while we have the Family go through a touching moment with sappy music playing while they hug and cry

I never said Ken didn't suffer. I said he was invincible. Hell, his invincibility is tied to his suffering.

Okay so he fails and suffer much more than Rick. Good you see that Reddit.

Is there some reason you're calling me Reddit, or is that just because we're in a Rick & Morty thread?

Because the show changed from a fun problem of the week scifi parody with a bit of heart into a 2deep4you bazinga soap opera. The entire show is now about trying to get redditors addicted to memes to sell mcrestaurant sauce and loot crates.

Emotional awareness is completely different from standard intelligence. Rick thinks he can force a solution whenever he doesn't like something, as he said to the therapist. It's not like he doesn't know how feelings work, he can emotionally manipulate other people, after all, is just that he believes he is so smart he is above feelings, when he is human and he is just as slave of his own condition as we all are.
Fuck, it happened to Dr. Manhattan and Dr. Manhattan is a huge faggot.

So…?

Another user already pointed out that they indeed mocked muslims, not antagonizing them, though. Point is, is an stereotype or just an archeotype. Russian are supposed to be all strong and stupid with a thick accent and always knows someone called Ivan.

Good for you to acknowledge that. On the other hand, neither of what I've mentioned sound like a good mother, but at least the former sounds like a good companion, someone you'd look forward to spend the day with and not someone who will nag you because you didn't tweet about FemFreq.

They are obviously not with him for the looks, money i should be proportional to each of your folds, including the ones in your neck, if you want to cheat on someone who was kind enough to either accept you as the fatass you are or accept your money first. That's if he even have that much money, because, you know

You should be a Rick & Morty writer. Are you a woman?

No. He is even more flawed in episode 2 and 3. He was a Mary Sue in episode one, though.

Maybe Rick haven't suffered as much as Kenshiro, but he probably had his family and friends killed so much that he just stopped caring, which would explain why he always tried to hamfists solutions to things he doesn't like. Also, Rick lost a couple of times too, even when he wins, like when he wins against Satan or when the unimind leaved him.

It seriously is a lot better than I remembered, the worldplay and character interactions is pretty killer.

It seriously is a lot better than I remembered, the worldplay and character interactions are pretty killer.

the Trump curse is less trump and more like these idiots tripping over themselves and hurting themselves in reaction to Trump.

1. McCain getting brain cancer is coincidental, and not out of the ordinary for someone his age to get a terminal illness
2. Cable news ratings are low because all they can do is shit on Trump 24/7 for the past year and a half. Which is dumb considering most TV viewers are over 40 years old, and a high over 40 age range voted for Trump. Whoops.
3. Late Shows are in a slump because they decided to put a few fish out of water in charge of those shows, after seasoned veterans left. Jimmy Fallon is uncomfortable to watch, Stephen Colbert has his hands tied, and Jimmy Kimmel is a shell of his former self. Millenials arent watching TV either, so all these networks have done is push away their actual demographic for one they will never reach. Conan is probably the only one who gets it. He makes sure to put his show on youtube and on his own app, which has been pretty successful.
4. SJW Marvel is going into the ground because it was already headed that way before they went SJW. They thought social justice is something the kids liked, and well, it was a lost gamble. They also lost control once they let the SJW's in. So now it's irreversible. No one is really buying comics in 2017. Don't say that you do either, you're getting them from torrent sites. The print comic industry failed to heed the internet.

5. Cartoon Network/Adult swim are about to implode regardless. Boomerang, their re-run channel is infinitely better because it has all the good shows on it. Cartoon network just re-runs the shit out of TTG these days. Adult swim can only bank on Rick and Morty, and when they arent, they are just re-running everything aired on network TV.

Spoilers: old industries that arent adjusting to new media are dying. Cartoon Network is dying because no one watches TV. I'll bet you $100 that most Rick and Morty Fans don't even watch the show on cable TV. They pirate it or watch it through adultswim.com.

Not yet, but it's edging closer to that.

They hired on a bunch of rainbow hairs halfway through season 2 and now everyone on the staff is some variety of half shaved head, and technicolor dye job. The only ones who arent are Justin and Dan.

Ryan Ridley is also not-rainbow haired.

These spaces are getting out of hand.

Staff hires female writers. Suddenly Morty is now being raised by a single mother. Pure ((Coincidence))

Adult swim is making more money off of merchandise than from the actual show.
It's like movie theatres and concession stands.

CalArts.

He got told by someone he thought was beneath him and it obviously made him severely uncomfortable, to the point he's blatantly trying to ignore it when Summer and Morty try to address it.

He lost his dignity and probably a lot of Morty and Summer's respect, but we really wont see the longterm outcome until later episodes.

A show can be serialized without having to turn into bojack horseman level drama. Something like early Adventure Time, where most episodes could happen anytime but there's a slow over arching story referenced once every few episodes. That'd be great, not 4 episodes in a row about Rick and his families daddy issues.

He wasn't even listening to the shrink.
Also, it was all according to keikaku, because Jaguar saved him in the end.

Love the pickle rick moments (I'm a sucker for action sequences), hated everything else. You could tell 2 completely different parts of the crew were responsible for the A and B plots. I guarantee Violent Pickle adventures was the sole result of letting the storyboarders/animators off their leash to make something fun to pair with mundane shit they knew was going to come from the new writing staff.

You certainly are.

LOL

>>>/out/

I might be a womyn you silly boy.

No, I'm a man. Either way, I just want to see Rick get fucked over completely, with no way of him worming out of it. It would bring tension back to the show, it would show the audience that Rick can lose.

He does lose from time to time though. Or at the very least, things don't go his way, like that Unity thing.

That's so unequivocal.

"Oh yeah he takes down a galactic government and an interplanetary order of ricks in like one day, but he gets sad like one time because somebody calls him an asshole"

He wasn't called an asshole, he was actually praised, she said he was so great that she didn't want to be with him anymore. Also, he was forced to improvise while taking down the government, and admittedly the way he did was stupid as fuck. He is also screwed over in the episode of the devil after beating him.
Being able to do amazing things doesn't really change that Rick is a human with feelings, and I think that's the focus of this season.

Man, you're just very gullible or have very low expectations if that's all it takes for you to feel depth. Also Summer was fucked over with the Devil, not rick.

He and summer proceeded to fucking beat him up afterward. Rick generally gets the last word in unless it's some faux feelings BS.

After admitting that Rick won after the Devil almost killed himself. Once Rick won he realized how much of a waste of time it was, burns everything and returns to an empty house with nothing to do. That felt a lot like a defeat for me, even after he won, and he was ultimately defeated of purpose even if they beat him after that,
Even in the Unity episode he goes back to the other uni-mind guy, but that was more pathetic than anything.

Unless you're a shill that's not really comparable. I guess that must be enough for you, but that's such a shitty cheap writing tactic that Im just amazed you don't see through it.

So Character X is an immortal demigod that's indestructible, unstoppable and better than everybody at everything. But every once in a blue moon character X is told that he's a fart so he sobs quietly on camera.
He doesn't change behavior, really re-examine himself or be changed by the fact that he's never really challenged. But that means "Depth".

Its like if Rick stared at a picture of a woman in a secret frame that he showed to nobody whilst sad music plays. Bam, "Depth"

This shit is so easy to write.

It is comparable for the smartest person in the universe. It's called subtlety. The point is not for him to change behavior, is to show the audience that he is not almighty, sure, is fucking weak writing, but it fulfill it's purpose to avoid faggots who thinks he is invincible. Want even more subtlety? Remember that Morty figured out how the parasites worked and not Rick and then he played it cool? And so on. Even in the Devil's episode, it wasn't so obvious that Rick felt defeated, you can just think he was bored until he gets home and wonder where everyone is.
Also, I never said that's deep, but it's an extra layer for the character, as thin as it is.
What you're thinking is the picture of Rick holding baby Morty.

Dat goalpost moving.

There we go. That's pretty much there is too it.

Is Goku a deep and flawed character because he can't get a drivers license?

Shit just ain't fucking comparable.

You're waving off anything contrary to your belief because you're a retard who has the most basic understanding of story telling or even characterization.

I can't believe people argue this much over this show. As a whole its an average sci fi comedy show that has its moments but has a lot of annoying things tagged along with it. Its not garbage and its not great. (Inb4 someone posts a fence sitter meme because I won't say its shit or the second coming of christ).

Aren't you arguing about it right now?

Well, like MLP:FIM and Gwenpool, it just hit during a particularly dry spell. To a starving man, MacDonalds tastes like fucking filet mignon.

More of these

Hey I know the perfect show for you, have you ever heard of Rick and Morty?

Welcome to the world of anonymous image boards.

Welcome to Holla Forums, please enjoy your stay.

Thanks. Get me room service

Episode 5 was fucking terrible, one good joke "TOO MANY RICK, TOO MANY" zero exposing the meaninglessness of human morality through sci-fi scenarios, just shallow "parody" and Rick being generically messed up.

...

I had to look through the credits, and it was written by two of the new diversity hires. Imagine my surprise.

Although hilariously being raised by a single mother is showing itself to be highly dysfunctional. Maybe they should have made the smiths black, and have summer slinging smack with rick and morty jacking off punks beneath the Queensboro bridge for 15 dollars a man

I guess I'm repeating everything everyone already said, but this is 'parody' for the sake of it and shitting on heroes without giving any context.

Is just an excuse to say "Oh! Rick is so messed up he can destroy the universe in one of his drunken blackouts!". Rick is just a quirky marysue with just 'defects' that doesn't even build a character.

It's all downhill from here. In a few weeks, ratings will nosedive and faggots will be running articles about how misogynists can't appreciate the brilliance of this shit.

Yeah, feels like its inevitable. I can't tell if I don't like the recent episodes because I know there's tumblr's writing it now, or if I would have disliked them anyway.

the one good thing that episode brought us and nobody's capitalized on it

Credit where it's due, her design and the way she was animated was pretty cool. They did a few little subtle things with her that were pretty cool, but that's something I'd credit to the animators, not the writers or creators, who think awkward, stilted speech is the height of post-ironic genius humor.

Nah, this episode had violence, gore, antisemitism, and some funny jokes.

This is 99% accurate. The wacky babbling is annoying but fuck you. Toilet humor is an art.

The first episode left me anticipating better, the second episode left me confused, and the third episode left me angry. But this… I feel nothing. I'm not laughing, i'm not emotionally touched, i'm not even mad anymore. Never before since FLCL have I felt so empty after watching an animated feature. If the plan behind this season was to fill it's audience with the same apathy extolled by the "character" of Rick whilst watching this murmur, then it succeeded.

Even Summer is better than that.

This was the only episode I've laughed at during the whole season. I found the almost complete lack of anything related to Summer, Beth, or Jerry extremely refreshing. This show gets several times better for me when it's just Rick and Morty fucking around. My only complaint is the episode tried too hard to parody instead of just doing its own thing. It strikes as lazy to just parody something else and pass it off as original when they have done this before with the Mad Max episode and the Purge thing last season.

Yeah I'm not really enjoying myself either.

I liked the first two seasons when I watched them but I dunno if I changed or the writers changed or what but I'm just not laughing at anything anymore.

Million Ants kills Ghost Train Guy; then tells Supernova that they are GOOD heroes? That was………….. as consistent as Trump's views.

I feel like the entire episode was just unfunny and filled with things that made no sense, but a couple things that came to mind:

Yeah the Israel scene made no sense from Rick's perspective

Why tf does he care at all about the politics on Earth?

I wouldn't even mind the parodies if they had anything of note to say about what they're parodying. All they do in these episodes is just point at a thing, acknowledging it's existence and maybe go "lol this sucks why do people like this?". It's lazy, Reddit-tier humor.

The joke is that, despite being seen as a cool dude, he's just a shallow coward. It's a subvsersion of the typical lovable rogue who can keep his cool under pressure. It wasn't funny at all, and i'm ESPECIALLY confused as to what his death scene was supposed to parody. Was it supposed to be a jab at the tumblr crowd who crack under pressure at the slightest inconvenience and whine about beingtriggered and unable to even, or was it just parroting that "masculinity so fragile" tripe that feminists tried to project their insecurities onto others with?

Either it's the writers trying to make a political statement or it's just lazy foreshadowing to Rick actually caring about shit when he's drunk. In either case it's stupid.

But then she wouldn't be a strong female character because she would be held to the same standards as a male villain would be, and that's sexist.

You are overthinking this, its because he is white and male. You just got to think like the untalented hacks that they are.

...

If he used his portal gun he wouldn't need to go in the normal way.

He was drunk as fuck.

You're right, I should've known.

What really annoys me about rick and morty is how badly the writers use him to put forward their nihillistic, reductive views of humanity in the most ham fisted way ever. Take this episode for instance. It was meant to be a subversion/break down of the super hero genre. He set up a bunch of death traps drunk, and Rick being the puppet master he is, managed to just straight up predicted most of the issues which would pop up with the group.

Yes, he somehow knew that a space James Bond would do a 180 of his personality, cause he's rick, that they might try to kill him rather than arrest him, cause he's rick. Everyone is always wrong, and Rick is always right.

The few times where someone manages to peg Rick or get into his head is played for laughs (the psychologist in the pickle rick episode for instance).

I think it's more than that, though. Take 'Rick Love Potion 9' for example; Rick fucks up the whole world, leaving everybody not related to him and Morty as a bunch of ugly blob monsters, so what does he do? He and Morty just leave to an alternate universe where their AU selves died and replace them. Sure, it's brought up a few times after that, but Rick never has to deal with the consequences of his actions, it's almost as if it never even happened.

Or take the Season 2 finale, where Rick's status as an inter galactic criminal catches up with him, leading to Birdperson's death and his family having to flee from the galactic federation, and eventually gives himself up to them and gets put in a maximum security prison. But then in the next episode he just escapes and destroys the galactic federation AND the council of ricks in one fell swoop, and everything goes back to normal. He never has to actually accept fault for his own actions, there are no long-lasting consequences for him fucking up, he just effortlessly gets out of dodge whilst acting like a condescending cockend about it, and any time the show makes you THINK there are repercussions that will actually matter, they just dissapear almost as quickly as they came, "wubba lubba dub dub" see you next week. Even worse is how contrived it is when he DOES briefly fail, as it's almost never because of any actual flaw of his. With Rick Love Potion 9, Rick failed less because he couldn't fix the problem he created, but more because he's too smart to give enough of a shit to fix it.

And yet, despite making a protagonist too perfect to fail, they still expect us to give a shit when they get all "emotional" over shit. "Oh no my Grandson hates me because i'm a fucking drunkard piece of shit.", they do this kind of shit every other episode, who cares at this point? He hasn't changed before due to his being a Reddit-tier nihilist who blows everything up and kills whoever he likes, why would we think that he'd suddenly care now? Why would WE suddenly care now? We know nothing is going to change or matter until the season finale, and if there's any more of this trash you can basicallt forget even that.

Tl;Dr - Rick is a mary sue and will never change so who fucking cares.

What's he gonna do? invent a wonderdrug to cure him of his depression? Make a new Wife?

(((YES.)))

IMO that whole aspect of Rick (as well as his whole character) seems to be lifted from the Doctor, right down to getting people killed and running away like nothing happened and acting condescendingly towards the people who lecture or scold him.

I liked how Morty showed his annoyance with Rick, but it wasn't fun and I don't really care anymore about the show if it keeps being just crude humor + "nothing matters". The humour for me was in unintended consequences of technology and interactions with strange aliens. I don't see how they can get back to smalltime things like S01E09 (Mr.Needful) now that Rick is basically a god.

Interesting take

That's some fine autism you got yourself there

How about this? If God has to make an appearance, heavily suggest that it's God from this series. I think he would work extremely well off Rick, mostly due to his laid back attitude and patience.

And if you haven't watched this series yet, go watch it.

You've gotta take it back now. Back to square one.

I might be saying the obvious, but did Rick just shit on Jerry like if the creators were explaining the audience why we shouldn't feel sorry about Jerry?

Are they so butthurt we already chose the best character in this shitty series?

(Sekai Ichi!)
I don't think they're butthurt, I think they're trying to do honest character development and make Jerry less of a wimp, and Rick chewing on him for this is a step towards that. The problem is that is it's entirely disconnected from what the show was about. It's like Steven Universein a way; they both have two concepts that they want to include (magical space fantasy and slice-of-life for SU, and sci-fi space adventures and family drama for R&M), but they never feel cohesive, instead changing between the two schizophrenically, and the show feels confused as a result and nobody is satisfied. It also doesn't help that the new writers they hired can't write worth a damn.

As an aside, I think it's somewhat incorrect to say we like Jerry. We only empathize with him because we hate Rick's being a shitty mary sue and always getting his way. If there was no Rick making his life hell, we wouldn't think much of Jerry. At worst he'd be an occasional annoyance. Either way this week's episode was shit as well.

Well, there's also the fact that no matter how great his inventions are which dimensions he hops to or what world he fucks up with, Jerry fucked his daughter and there's jack shit he can do about it, since time travel is the only sci-fi shit the writers aren't allowed to use. He's the most cucked character in the whole show, when you think about it.

If he can find an alternate universe where everything is the same except chairs and humans switched places, he can find millions where Jerry didn't shoot the sausage ski-ball into Beth.

Except I don't think he can. Rick and Morty so far seem to be universal constants in the multiverse. Every universe has their Rick and every Rick MUST have a Morty. Morty is only capable of being Morty due to being Beth and Jerry's son.

Simply put: Rick gets cucked by Jerry INFINITELY in INFINITE universes. There isn't a universe that Jerry didn't cuck Rick.

Aside what said, there's also the fact that each Rick remembers perfectly fine their original Universe/Earth's origin, so no matter where he goes or what he does, his own version of Jerry got teenage-pregnant his daughter and even had a second son with her. He must be so fucking butthurt, he could cure all kinds of cancer by farting but can't undo this one thing.

Huh, I guess that makes sense.

The show makes some hints that Rick is a piece of shit, but I don't think it does anything to show how Beth is a pretty horrible mother. And I swear to Christ it seems Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon have their heads really far up their asses now, mainly due to the fact that there is now a youtube video after every time an episode releases of them discussing how deep the story is when most of the time its just two ideas taken from other entities combined together which in itself doesn't make it original, that and it also being Rick and Beth being justified while Jerry is still a pathetic worm who was never good enough for Beth where he never develops at all, but actually now that I think about it none of the characters have really developed except Morty.

And this is the thing, it seems like both Justin and Dan use Jerry as the main cause of all the blame, of course they do show in Season 3 Episode 1 that Rick pretty much planned to destroy the marriage so he could be with the family, but since Morty never brings up this confession at all only means it didn't happen, so Rick still looks like he's in the right. Also they seriously tried to pull a negative on Jerry trying to kill Rick because he basically destroyed his life and marriage and then saying its even that Rick won't tell the family Jerry tried to kill him while he stays quiet about him wrecking the marriage which also pretty much throws out Jerry ever just going to Beth and telling her how he really feels about the divorce, and yes you can say there where already underlining problems due to Jerry's behaviour, but in season 1 its clearly shown there is actually something genuine between them, so Rick basically did fuck the family's shit up without giving them the chance to unfuck they're shit.

I dunno, I'm just getting fed up of ricks "Since I know everything scientifically, this must mean I know everything emotionally so I'll act like a cynical waste of a human being to everybody and destroy everybody's lives because I can" attitude and the writers believing he's a righteous bad ass for being so. I hope they realise this and that he needs to be taken down a peg, probably by somebody who is as smart as he is but has a better attitude towards the world and people in general. I mean he was shown to be vulnerable in season 2, but that never carried over to his character later down the road so It needs to be done again and this time it needs to change him.

I would have agreed with you 100% before last week's episode

The thing is even if they introduce a character that puts rick in his place, they will eventually just show him being usurped and then killed by rick in some stupid elaborate plot.

Pretty much this. Remember how in the pilot and the first episode he didn't plan anything in advance past what he knew that would happen and he and Morty had to deal with the consequences of his actions?

Is it really? I just watched the first four episodes and other than the first one, they've all been pretty much on the same tier as any shit Adult Swim production. The puns are excellent and the ps2 art style is really fun to look at but they're really boring.
