Its not solely a Holla Forums problem, if you go to other draw threads or request threads on other boards its a similar situation especially on the faster boards. Here's a prime example of the type of faggot that tends to derail these threads.

/a/'s drawing improvement threads are pretty good. /tg/'s drawthreads are slower (but then again, the whole board is slow) so there's fewer people spamming "draw my waifu being subjected to [FETISH] haha" and people unsubtly begging for free commissions.

Holla Forums, being one of the most active boards, has pretty bad drawthreads, but every so often they produce some gold.

You know, fun thing is, I used to drawfag here, but I did go back to halfchan with my shit.
Requests around here are few and awful. Every drawthread on every board produces about a dozen requests per day at most, and they are either fetishistic shit or boring as dirt.
I'm not saying that requests on halfchan are any better, but at least there is a flying fuckton of 'em. Easier to find something interesting.
and yeah, I know it's a vicious cycle of Drawfags Don't Draw >so> Nobody Requests >so> There is nothing to draw , but I can't be fucked to try and fight against it.

If we get this going as an art thread, I'm dead serious when I say that a great way to ease yourself into art is making memes and edits.
It won't turn you into a /loomis/ veteran, ready to take any and all requests, but it will let you contribute to the boards you like, it stirs activity and makes more people post, you get to be on the ground level for that dank OC, and when you take the next steps towards doing more real art, you'll be far less intimidated by all these scary drawing programs.

Seconded. I got into drawfagging by redrawing memes and editing out genitals from porn pics.

Redrawing memes is a dying art. Nowadays people just take templates and insert an image off Google, like those shitty brain memes from facebook I keep seeing here.
I wish people would make more OC. A good trick is to watch a show, and if you see any funny scenes/lines, make a webm in the background while you keep watching the show.
Other than that, if you see someone post a ebin maymay in the thread that isn't too complex, steal it and redraw it with a theme from the current thread, then rake in those (you)s.

I try to copy other people's language patterns when typing so I can never be called out. Then, if I'm losing an argument about the homosexual nature of feminine penises, I can swap IPs, pick up another posting format and samefag :^)

That's pretty much exactly why I haven't drawn anything for Holla Forums in a long time, and probably a contributor to why I don't draw much in general anymore. I visit various draw threads every few weeks or something, only to find a handful of new requests and all of them ass. Even the board I drew for the most is now literally nothing but fetish shit requests.

I don't post in 4chan but I bookmarked some of their draw threads just in case I want ideas.
