SDF was about to besiege an important border town of Jarabulus, so Turkey decided to throw ISIS under the bus and install the "lite" islamist rebels that the Kurds will have less incentive to attack. Rojava is unaffected, and it basically helps their current offensive (assuming they let Turks wreck ISIS in Jarabulus and go straight for Al-Bab, at least that's what I'd do in their place).
