But it was socialist, user.
They had a big government.

Yeah OP, they got Roads, Roads are socialism

And why'd they make aqueducts out of lead, which is poisonous? Because government SUCKS at doing things.

In all seriousness, probably a sort of lordless feudalism based on communal farming.

Is there anything in classical marxism / any strand of leftism where the means of production are seized by the soldiers rather than the workers? The Roman legions actually had a bit of democratic organization to them and they would be the ones most likely able to actually overthrow the old order and bring about a socialist government. This would most likely result in a centrally controlled socialist government like the Soviet Union, but even more militarized and eager for conquest.

HAIL COMRADE CAESAR!!!

cuz socialism doesn't want smart people, that's why… if they were around today i'll bet they'd by putting fluoride in that shit to mind control the population

M-L

Military overthrows government and establishes dictatorship? That's no Marxism.

You can create Anarcho-Juntism, if you really want to, but stay away from ML.

I'd imagine everything organized around military service
The Incas essentially had state socialism through a mandatory draft, organizing farmers, weavers, etc to produce in exchange for rationed goods
And the Incas had a large surplus of all goods before the empire was wiped out

It was socialist

[email protected]/* */ Socialist, to be exact

big gubbermint XDDDDD

Nice try, I'm not an idiotic lolbert

Nazism is simply socialism applied to Gentiles. Communism is when socialism is applied to Jews. Given that this socialist society was run by Gentiles, I think you can draw your own conclusions.

Ok, but the Roman Empire wasn't applying socialism to anyone.

Yes it was. It was a state created by Aryans, for Aryans, centered around the original Gentile religion and focus on traditional Gentile values. That is the real definition of socialism, at least not the Jewish kind

Oh, gee, I didn't know. I could of sworn it had something to do with collective ownership of the means of production, but I guess you're the expert.

Roman Empire was incapable of being socialist

When did you come back? What were you doing when you were away?

Fucked, as you'd have to free all the slaves. That would fatally wound the Roman economy.

Just gulag them

Everyone starved to death.

proofs?

Where do you think Hitler got the inspiration from?

For one thing, a Socialist Roman Empire would have had no slavery. The Roman Senate would have been replaced by a democratically elected council of Plebeians. Often times, the Roman Aristocracy would purchase public land and carry out mass evictions of the working peasants. Struggling peasants often had no choice but to sell their farms to an Aristocrat and work it for the wealthy new owner. Under a Socialist Roman empire, these Aristocrats and all the ruling oligarchs would have been killed and their land would be seized and re-distributed to the poor peasant class. The Collegia or Guild/Corporation system of Rome would have been radically reformed to allow anyone to take membership. Most small craftsmen and other enterprises would probably have been absorbed into a guild, which would be managed by a democratically elected council. Workers and craftsmen in various parts of the empire would have banded together to from worker organizations

There were some distinctly proto-fascist tendencies in Rome tbh.

wew lad that isn't feudalism.

A federated Roman Republic ruled directly by the plebeians, who all own their own property and function as citizen-soldiers.

There is no need for any industrial organization in a mostly agrarian society aside for perhaps some collegia for artisan plebeians.

Actually, it wouldn't be too much different from the Roman Republic, just the Patricians wouldn't be around. Also, it wouldn't be a massive empire, and instead a republic roughly covering the area of Italy and perhaps Spain. Greece probably could be de jure part of the republic, but it would be highly autonomous and practically be a 2nd Delian League.

Add Gaul to the list of potential territories of a surviving Roman Republic. As long as the Eastern lands aren't conquered, the Roman Republic has a chance of survival.

Yeah it's called Khmer Rouge

haha what the fuck are you saying
