The 'alt-right'

How did this fringe movement gain so much traction?
Did the republicans bring this about themselves?

And more importantly, how can the 'alternative left' emulate this success?
Meme magic?

A few years ago it was just an echo on some obscure internet forums but now-a-days they drop this term on mainstream TV.

According to reports Clinton's speech next Thursday in Nevada will talk about this particular part of Trump's support base.

'Leftism' has become a movement of academic elites. They have very little to offer the working class, except an obsession with transgender issues and trigger-happy accusations of racism.

The right obviously has no real answers or understanding either, but they at least recognize a number of the things regular people actually care about. Rightist recognize that their jobs are being taken abroad, while having to live in crappy neighborhoods with a bunch of badly integrated minorities who misbehave out of economic distress.

Monarchists and other counter-revolutionaries, white nationalists etc.. have always been around.

I think the right-wing in general has been emboldened by the Democratic Party holding Obama up as the liberal Jesus Christ. If I thought that was the best the left had to offer, I'd probably choose whatever I felt the opposite camp had to offer as well.

Economic conditions bring about a reaction against the prevailing ideology, which is basically neoliberalism with intersectional characteristics. It's also extremely edgy, which helped to increase its popularity as people on the internet moved from the previous edgy ideology (New Atheism, I guess?) on to alt-right.

nice meme

Nice meme

Obama isn't left, he's right
You forget he led the crappy ACA, tried to cut entitlements etc in the name of "budget balancing" right?

Left wing politics have been shifting towards middle and upper class problems with most actual socialists and communists being either academic elites or edgy teenagers in need of a strong identity due to whatever reason.

The average lower class white person feels him or herself being excluded or ignored by politics, which mainly happens in three steps;

- When left wing politics shift to middle and upper class people it creates a political arrogance where the (white) lower classes are automatically considered unimportant and not educated enough for an actual opinion.

- A middle and upper class focus often ignores or views problems differently than the lower classes which ware the ones to actually suffer from poverty, criminality and the negative effects of multiculturalism.

- The combination of both often leads to the myth that racism originates by the white lower classes, which reïnforces their idea that they are ignored, ostracised and ridiculed.

Then, suddenly, someone like Trump emerges, or they find an online forum, a document et cetera and they are given a framework which explains their position in society, accepts and confirms their ignored position and so on.

I know I was just saying, people think he's left, which is wrong. And they also think he's like far-left at that.

Basically this

He wasn't saying Obummer was leftist, he was just pointing out that many American conservatives see Obama as the figurehead of leftism.

To add on this, an exact thing happens was well in the Netherlands.

In 1983 the Socialist Party (SP) released a document called "Quest Workers and Capital" through which they explained the problems with multiculturalism from a lower class perspective. A capitalist ploy in a country with zero incentive to integrate which concentrates all immigrants in the poor neighbourhoods inhabited by the white lower classes.

Than, during the late 80's en 90's the SP and other leftist parties shift to the middle and upper class people, change their ideas about multiculturalism (which from a middle class perspective is often quite good as you can degrade a culture to consumerism) and suddenly the lower social classes, traditionally leftist but supporting the SP's criticism on immigration were left in the dark, ridiculed and considered highly racist. Then, you had Fortuyn who spoke to them (until he was murdered) and now Wilders, who despite being far right has most of his lower class voters as disgruntled ex-lower class leftists.

It's true though. Think of folks like Dawkins and Harris who go on against Islam and university safe spaces, and then their followers move to thunderf00t, Amazing Atheist, etc.

...

I'm atheist, but New Atheism could get pretty edgy at times.

What are you on about? These two are liberals at best. The latter even has videos up making fun of Stefan Molyneux.

...

Ancaps are mocked by basically everyone who isn't an ancap or fascist admirer.

Is Wilders' party also 'Welfare Chauvinist' in the sense of the Danish People's Party and the Sweden Democrats?

I'm not sure why I expected an argument.

In what way?

Certainly not as edgy as the European left used to be when it came to being critical of religion. But now-a-days they can't stop trumping themselves in their apologism.

Not completely. While Wilders often states to be more in line with large scale welfare and solid healthcare principles he and his party members consistingly voting similar to the neoliberal VVD which is activitely trying to reduce our healthcare system with free market principles and budget cuts.

However, he's part of the same right wing principle of being extremely supportive to Israël (Wilders is partly Jewish and views the country as his second home) while strongly opposing every form of non-western immigration.

His most controversional remark of mostly likely chanting there should be, in the literal sense, being less Moroccans in the country and that Islam is the biggest disease of the (past) century.

Sorry for the grammatical mistakes;

"consistingly voting similar" -> "consistingly vote similar"

"remark of mostly likely" -> "remark is mostly likely"

This sounds awfully similar to what Trump is doing.

It's no surprise that Wilders endorses Trump on his Twitter.

SP is still pretty popular with lower income and less educated voters. I don't think that they are focusing too much on the higher incomes. Statistics show that most of their voters are still working class as fuck, they emphasize class analysis a lot. Wilders has the advantage of having working class voters fed up with immigrants but also petite bourgeoisie voters.

Or the FN which used to be so much into Reaganomics until they noticed that pandering with welfare got them more votes.

That's definitely true, but they did ultimately made a shift towards a different leftist perspective. I would recommend to actually read the document I mentioned ("Gastarbeid en Kapitaal") which showcases a very different perspective and feels more in line with what the PVV pretends to be.

How so? I mean I've been told I'm a bad person and going to hell by Christians before and no one blinks an eye. But apparently atheism is edgy one for talking back.

I'm gonna guess you meant to quote

Daily reminder that the religious left is at least partly responsible for Tony 'new-born' Blair and his Third Way goons.

Does not exist.

Then what is this board about?

Left-wing politics

From the FAQ.

'Pariah' sounds pretty 'alternative' to me, m8.

You blind or something? Identitarian "left" predates its right-wing version by decades and has already metastasized everywhere. The real question is how can leftist ideas survive. (I certainly cheer for the alt-right to similarly maul the capitalism-first conservatism.)

When you understand who the "leftist elite" are(liberals), then you get the picture.

The alt-right also appeals to a lot of teenager's and severely antisocial people.

Their prominence is largely an illusion, sort of a bottom-up astroturf. They dislike most real world far right pundits.

OMG I lol'd

Holla Forums understands memes, Holla Forums doesn't, which is why the only succesfull meme Holla Forums ever created (porky) is cultural appropriation of a Holla Forums meme.

Porky was around during the cold war fam, its original OC with actual artistic merit.

...

It's a cardboard copy of le happy merchant. The only meme succes Holla Forums ever had was by appropriating the anti-semetic logic of Holla Forums.

4d chess

...

alt-right is just right but slightly less polite

Nice try but i almost had to face that you have something to say, good luck next time.

Modern western society is extremely atomized, alienated and divided into identity groups based on culture. Fear and anger of perceived negative change is an effective way to bridge these gaps and unite populations against dangerous outgroups.

The true Left is still floundering because they haven't found a way to effectively bridge these identity gaps and unite the working class. This is especially hard IMO due to the growth of service and administrative jobs that are perceived as useless, cushy, or undeserving of unionization. Also, Leftist theory has been confined to academic circles and modern adaptations of Marxist thought are diverse, obscure, and not in the public consciousness.

It is far easier to go up to a bunch of whites and get them to agree that we should go back to the social and economic conditions of the 1950s.

this is just muh joospiracy mental gymnastics: the meme

Insofar as they know they don't have to be clever or relevant in popular culture, they have to be annoying sound bites that can be shouted constantly by edgy teenagers.

It's from old Soviet propaganda, you retard, it's irrelevant to le happy merchant. Also, bunkers were funny as tits at first.

Anti-semitism doesn't need actual jews. Read zizek. Our memes are trickling down.

Porky is older then happy merchant.

pol BTFO

It's surival of the dankest, not survival of the cleverest or most relevant. lrn2 memevolution

And you dug it up because the happy merchant created the need for a figure of anti-semetic logic.

The piece it was from was posted in a thread and people liked the design. That's it.

Dankness is measured in quality, not quantity. Holla Forums memes are similar to The Big Bang Theory in this regard.

I know you are probably so obsessed with j00z that you are mentally incapable of imagining otherwise, but rest assured this is not the case. It was dug up because it's funny to draw the ruling class as fat gremlins.

i fucking hate this

no. soviet propaganda is just based as fuck.

in fact, the nazis and fascists in general were always trying to imitate socialist movements and their propaganda.

we are the OC

It's a Holla Forums meme, don't take it seriously.

In your case, scarcity doesn't raise the value of your memes. They're lame and stale how-do-you-do fellow channers attempts at reaching dankhood with almost zero associative power outside of your circlejerk.

Fat, ugly, scheming and evil.. it's not hard to put a hooked nose on the anti-semetic stereotype you created. Read the myth of the golem.

oh shit, didn't even notice
hilarious

...

Pretty sure Holla Forums hates this faggot

it's the unholy fucking trinity of nazism

And virgin and anti-fun.
One ball krauts BTFO!

Wow, you're so fucking racist

Well, if the alternative is rule by rat-faced jewish commissars…

...

...

This.

I already called him out for being a biggoted racist against fatasses.

They are also funny in context, which is all that matters. People spouting Holla Forums memes on social media aren't actual neo-Nazis, they are children trying to rebel.

I thought the Soviets were all evil Jews. Make up your mind.

you're getting there allright bucko

...

the alt right offers an outlet for people who are racist but not authoritarian nor cares much about economics, they're the third pillar, fashes and lolberts are the first two.

We don't need an "alt left" we need a civic left that can come up with solution that the common people can benefit from.

tbh i think we reached the point where we should just sage and report the Holla Forumsack shitposter

We aren't recruiting for the new-neo-nazi-party-of-whitetopia, we're shifting the overton window.

It's a gateway drug for going folkish. Look at what we did to /fit/ and faggots like the golden one.

THIS

it gave the opportunity to social outcasts and losers to blame their failures on someone else.
give them an ego boost and something to be proud of, their whiteness.
altho being born a certain way isn't something any rational person would be proud or ashamed of, they still stick to like a mussel to a rock.
as if it was the only thing that keeps them from sucoku'ing them selves (which probably is).

you can't, idiots will always outnumbers smart ones.
the secret is to keep those idiots out of any position of power. where they could inflict their stupidity on others

Pride and shame don't confirm to your ideology, because your ideology is wrong.

The usual negation of this fact calling thing irrational, which means that your ideology doesn't allow you to understand it.

Nothing about this post makes any kind of grammatical sense.

They sold themselves as sanctuary from an idpol movment that saw anyone outside of itself as scum who needed to be enslaved.

are you high ?

By what did he meant about this.

Hopefully these retards get violent soon enough. A civil war is coming, and is needed. I want to see the alt-right nerds hiding behind a screen go out and start actually fighting (and dying) for what they believe in. Then I will take them seriously. Otherwise they're just a bunch of wannabe influencers who have no job, education, or a life, and don't deserve to live any more than a garden plant.

that's an insult to garden plants

The alt-right didn't form so much as blobbed together. They're the swarf of politics, stereotypical, reptile-minded simpletons who found unity in the internet's then ironic, now unironic culture of bigotry. The odds of their "success" translating into anything in the real world are slim to none.

For ideologies that are literally impossible to achieve without mass violence? As in huge chunks of the populace dead, not just a few land owners.

archive.org/details/the-silicon-ideology

This book traces the history of the alt right much better than what I could do in a single post.

Just to add, my personal analysis is that, while a lot of alt-righters are vulgar racist woman haters, there's a large intellectual tradition they can borrow from to give them a certain air of sophistication (think Martin Heidegger, Ernst Junger, these guys were not your average Holla Forumstards) , and there lies the danger.

Not that I would expect them to ever gain respectability, unless they were placed on positions of academic influence by Porky (I read a good article on this regard, this is happening already in Ukraine where the government put this revisionist neo-nazi in charge of their historical archive)

Tell me again how Holla Forums and Holla Forums is different if that's your argument.

Easy, as some already pointed out the left alienated itself from the proletariat. Where there is the most recruitment potential (proletariat alienated by neoliberalism) the left is nowhere to be found, because come on, let these racist troglodytes be amongst themselves.

AntiFa is the worst example of this. They beat up alienated proletariat and then wonder why the working class votes right. It's a level of retardation that is unmatched.

See, most proletarians don't actually support the ordo-liberal strategy of a Trump or a Wilders, that wants to privatize free health care and so on. I also made the experience that most working class people are actually more open towards discussion than most liberals, they are just uneducated. Yet I have to find a single leftist trying to discuss with proletarians that vote right.

Yeah, fuck off.

Also NRx is basically dead at this point. Mencius "The Court Jew" Moldbug is just a LARPing nerd with bizarre fantasies about being the advisor to King Jeff Bezos of the Anarcho-Monarchic Kingdom of AmeriCorp™

Dude calm down, I'm not pushing shit, the book does a decent job of tracing the historical and intellectual origins and influences of the alt-right.

As I implied, is not just a bunch of racist teenagers on Twitter, and anyone dismissing them is making a serious mistake.

What makes the alt-right dangerous is that they can borrow whatever they want from whatever source they want, even if Moldbug is dead as you say they can selectively borrow from him if the need ever arises, they can be much more eclectic and pragmatic than a leftist, who has to constantly worry about following the party line and not offending anyone.

No it doesn't. The influence of NRx has been greatly exaggerated because lazy journalists can't be bothered doing their homework, and find it much easier to pin the creation of "movements" (if you'd call it that) like the alt-right on attention-whoring e-celebs and pseudo-intellectuals like Moldbug and Richard Spencer.

And they won't be borrowing it from Moldbug because there's nothing worthy there.

Maybe it's just me but I liked how the author traced the aesthetization of violence in modern media back to the Futurist Manifesto (which, you know, also influenced fascism), it might not even be that original or new of an insight but it still blew my mind.

Just read the whole thing before jumping to conclusions.
