It is such a long stretch that it wasn't necessary to make the attempt in the first place.
The desing isn't that bad but other than that, Marvel can go suck a dick.

DC already made a better Chapulin homage.

They won't even be able to instruct the average reader on Chapulin. It'll just be seen as a rip off of Blue Beetle due to name alone.

David Edwards

Well, I think that this is actually really great. An original character that's not a diversified version of a currently existing white character who's inspired by a hero that Hispanics actually liked. It's like they're actually reaching out to Mexican culture instead of pandering to what SJWs think minorities want, so this seems like a great start in the ri-
Debuts in Champions

Making a serious 'superheroine' out of a joke character.

I need that porn scream to express what I'm feeling.

Jaxson Brooks

She's being introduced in a book with an Asian Hulk, a Spic Nova, a Mudslime Ms. Marvel, a female Vision, and several other pozzed rip-offs.

As someone who likes Chapulin, I would have been cheering for this had she not gone to debut in Champions. Just have her be a street level hero that deals with thugs in humorous fashion.
Super Sam proxy team up would be fun too
tfw you just want Chespirito sketches in Marvel.

Robert Taylor
Robert Taylor

Her stupid fucking story had to include "The usually pass down the title to the boys but I'm the only child so I had to show them!!!" Backstory.

And yet another super brilliant engineer mechanic girl in what amounts to an iron man suit. I'm guessing they wouldn't let him use Riri.

I guess it is finally an original character. Even if it's not really.

Jordan Jones
Jordan Jones

And to think, I might have been ok with that if they had no introduced her in the context of the 8 other "minorrty pwr!" characters

Aiden Scott

I know she's better than the others because she at least isn't a rip off of a better hero, but does am I the only one who thinks she sounds like the author trying SO FUCKING HARD to let everyone know that she's mexican?

Michael Reed
Michael Reed

Somehow all of pic related became an Iron Man suit

Good job Marvel, you couldn't even have a small amount of fun with this.

Really though, all I remember from the show is the pill that makes you small and the mallet.
How much longer does Champions even have? Surely it can't be selling well if this is what they have to resort to this.

Evan Fisher

Mate look at they are trying so hard to make her Mexican that her whole family named themselves after a Spanish king. Because you know, Aztecs would honor the Spanish like that.

Angel Gomez

he also had the "chicharra paralizadora" some sort of clown horn that allowed him to stop people and objects.

Ethan Russell

Virtue signalling, as always. It's not enough to just create a new female hero, she has to be PEEOOHSEE and it has to be part of who she is. That's how people on twitter know you're woke. I don't know much of Waid's life, but I think it's a safe bet that he didn't grow up around Mexicans and doesn't live around them now. So expect really fucking awkward shit like naming kids after the king of Spain and random Spanish words italicized, ese.

Yawn, Power-Armoured Person #7357953256885326, so amazing.

And look! It's another supergenius minority kid. They should just settle with all babies in the Marvel universe begin learning astrophysics when they leave the womb, because the number of ubersmart characters who neither need nor should be is just diluting the intelligence pool.

0/10, belongs in the bin with everything else Marvel has made for the past 2 years.

Isaac Baker
Isaac Baker

Yeah, they didn't have to dumb her down either. She could have been an inventor who made some wacky gadgets and had fun using them. A paralyzing horn? That sounds like some good fun. A force hammer of some sort? Right on, man. A pill that shrinks you? A bit Lewis Carroll but carry on. Some super antennae hooked right up to your brain? Thumbs up, Marvel.

Instead we got another suit.

Latina Ironwoman is a waste, they should have go with wacky items and dumbluck
This.

Joshua Price
Joshua Price

You can blame (((Marvel))) for that. Spain and Mexico are practically the same thing to them. They don't realize what they're saying is like an American naming their kid Henry because of King Henry V or some shit.

Elijah Rivera
Elijah Rivera

But we can't have the character be anything but perfect. Having silly gadgets or put in danger from being wacky would assume that the writer assumes everyone of that origin to be wacky and silly! Thasss rasssssist!

Brody Martin
Brody Martin

Oh, cool, El Chapulin Colorado is cool so this surely will
Female
Damn it, if it's based on the damn Chapulin why make it a damn girl? Other than that, all the stupid racial implications with muh latinos will make it shit.

Alexander Perry
Alexander Perry

They'll never realize it in their lifetime as their bubble is too thick. There's too many vulturistic SJWs on twitter who only want to see a visual diversity and all they'll see is Mexican, female, scientist, and that the title has to do with her heritage. They mostly don't read the comics so they don't know how they're written and the few that do won't complain unless white/conservative/men like it or in other words it becomes popular. Right now Waid is kissing the ring and that's all that matters.

Camden Nelson
Camden Nelson

take a fun and cool joke superhero
make him a fucking ironman clone
Of all of them why the Chapulin Colorado? I don't even want to think what they would do to Super Sam

Hey, don't blame us in this, it's Marvel's doings. I can't believe there's people that is ok with taking a mexican character and then remove all that made him unique to then get angry at the mexican themed level in the new Mario.

Robert Torres
Robert Torres

Thanks for bringing up that cancerous boil for me. I had almost learned to enjoy today.

To me it's not even that she's a girl that bugs me. It's more that they shy away from the main thrust of applying a Chespirito-like atmosphere to a Chespirito-created character.

And why does she have to be le ebin genius? Why not just be like the Shocker, where he's more like a tinker?

Hello, fellow Latin American. What is your favorite Chespirito sketch? For my part, I like Disfraz, Antifaz y Algo Mas, if only for the gag at the end

Calm the fuck down. Not our fault that Marvel is conflating us.
Also, Chespirito is more of a Central and South American cultural phenomenon. So this is not only managing to piss off Mexicans, believe me

Christian Diaz
Christian Diaz

So this is not only managing to piss off Mexicans
Argentinean here, can confirm I'm totally pissed off about this

Now, if you have 5 minutes of your life to spare, here is a translated interview with Roberto Gomez Bolaños (the mexican comedian who gave lfe to Chapulín Colorado) about this character

Interviewer: What is a chapulin?
Roberto: A cricket, a grasshopper
I: And why did you like the name?
R: It sounded pretty. And it was formidable for the character I was thinking: a hero, with antennas like those of the grasshoppers … I wanted to create a character that would be satire to Superman and Batman
I: Why you say that the Chapulin is a satire to Batman and Superman?
R: Because that is. When they asked me if I planned to create an anti-hero, I'd say no, I'd create a hero; antiheroes are Superman and everyone else
I: Care to explain?
R: For example: if Superman is able to stop an asteroid that is going to hit the Earth, he's not a hero. If someone can do that, that someone is also able to face any kind of problems of that magnitude. That is not a hero. Chapulín, on the other hand, is a human being who faces all kind of troubles, including the most human of all problems: fear. Chapulín feels an enormous fear, dread of everything, but he conquers it. He defeat his fear and there he becomes a hero! He who is without fear is not a hero.
A hero is the one who feels it, confronts it and surpasses it. Chapulín doesn't face someone who wants to destroy the world, but helps his wife, who has no one to help her, to wash the dishes, to clean the house. Sometimes he has very great powers and he does, but he doesn't always win, because human beings sometimes win and sometimes lose.

Alexander King
Alexander King

Fuck that's deep.

Dont forget the part where she says "in a time before the burgers invaded the land" on a picture with a temple inside a jungle, the only temple at the north of mexico is in chihuahua i think, and the land that burgers bullied out of mexico was desert.
The new character had potential, but no, she needed to take down barriers of my soggy knee and be a super engineer.

Preach it, hermano

Jace Gomez
Jace Gomez

tfw you find out more Latinos browse Holla Forums than you expect

The target audience is obviously themselves. This wasn't made for Mexicans, it was made for American liberals' own masturbatory fantasy about superficial diversity. This character is literally defined by her heritage and by being really super fucking smart and breaking the glass ceiling. And as pointed out before, they can't even be bothered to pander right, since they have this chick's family paying homage to a fucking Spanish king by naming every male member of their family after him. As the other user said, this is like an American family naming every single one of their kids after Henry VIII.

Fuck my life, its pretty sad when a comedic character like him is more nuanced and relatable than the drivel that Marvel has made in the past 20 years. They couldn't be arsed to write a character like this to save their own lives. They are only capable of writing snarky Tumblr girls who are perfect and unable to go through any real adversity.

I dunno, user. She will probably never rise above C-lister and only exist as an easter egg that won't have any relevance after this books is over.

This isn't capeshit, its just the adaptation of some horror book about vampires. Even though its written by Guilhermo del Toro, it contains almost barely no SJW elements, although it still isn't a very good story on its own right.

Ryan Hernandez
Ryan Hernandez

I'd watch the shit out of an El Chapulín Kamen Rider esque series

Logan Clark
Logan Clark

Current Rider did use a hammer for a while at least. But the closest thing to Chapulin in Kamen Rider is Den-O. He can't fight, he's a total whimp, incredibly accident prone, and very timid. But he manages to still be a hero thanks to his…. well kinda friends. More like time demons he's stuck with for most of the series taking over his body and doing the heroing for him. He does get braver and more willing to be a hero later on even if he doesn't get stronger as a fighter.

Robert Peterson
Robert Peterson

Marvel fucked up again. Maybe not that badly, but not good nonetheless.

Millennials were a mistake. A huge one.

Worse, she is another Iron Man ripoff.

You know, she looks like La Chilindrina…
Another huelander here. See, Bolaños was a true writer. The man had talent, he could look at himself and laugh. He was one of those guys that could make you smile and cry with a show were adults dressed as kids. He knew hia craft really well. If one guy or gal with the caliber of Chespirito were written stuff for DC or Marvel, you would see these fucks burning him out of fear. They would.not be able to do anything do compete.
And for the fans here

I think it's because the character who have no fear can't be human, and even Murdock fear for the safety of his friends. That's why he is not afraid to put his life on the line.

The entire Secret Empire event is a supposed to be a big satire on the Trump administration. Even though it has been in the work for months, the entire event was changed at the last minute to mirror an America under Trump the way libcucks perceive it. You have Captain America calling journalists as fake news and has one (ironically that same bitch from Civil War who called him old-fashioned for not being modern enough) thrown into jail while quipping that people on Twitter won't be happy about it.

The irony is that Cap Hydra is supposed to be a political commentary is lost on the normalfags, who are too angry about the fact that Cap has always been a Nazi and was able to lift Mjolnir.

Nah, she is actually Paul Jenkins OC rather than Bendis, this way before he got overused by Marvel. that depends, are they gonna maker her a carbon copy or are they just using it as design inspiration?

Benjamin Mitchell
Benjamin Mitchell

Fun fact: when Chespirito died, there were way many foreigners from all over Latin America than Mexicans in his funeral. He was that popular.

She is only designed inspiration as far as she is concerned. She doesn't use any of Chapulin's gadgets or isn't tie to him in anyway. It would have been like calling Batman a Zorro rip-off.

I don't have many of her tbh.
