What are Holla Forums's opinions on Dilbert, and Scott Adams in general?

I have recently watched some of the cartoon episodes and it feels like a completely different kind of series, but the voices really stuck with me.

I liked the cartoon when I was a kid. I should probably watch it again. I imagine a lot of jokes went over my head.

It's alright.

He's alright too. Unlike many comic creators he somehow did not become a SJW.

He is surprisingly woke for having a comic published in newspapers. He called Trump's win back in spring 2016 and was consistently calling it too. He sends solid zingers to his detractors, has a shitload of money, and dates a much younger model (even if I don't like that face, I'm sure I'd be ecstatic to be hitting that when I'm his age). Hell I'd say the guy is a role model.

I like him/it

the guy is a savage for sure

...

wake up user, time to let this nightmare end
oh
you're already awake

The guy was calling out feminism long before it was in style.

Him calling Trump's win wasn't that impressive, several people did, anyone could have done that.
The impressive part was him calling close to every single thing Trump was going to do during the elections before he did it. People were trying to push the "Trump is unpredictable" retardation to try to say he was unfit as a president and here we had this newspaper comic strip author predicting close to 100% he was going to do properly.
I don't agree with a lot of things Scott Adams says, but I love reading his blog and he certainly knows what he's talking about more often than not, his opinions and views on things are interesting, and he is usually humble enough to admit he's not completely sure about one thing or another instead of just making wild guesses or pretending he's a specialist.
Nice guy overall.

I also like his blog, for the reason that he is more to the left of me–but he's someone who usually has a worthwhile argument to back up his stance. I don't want to be stuck in an echo chamber, even if that chamber is filled with really good ideas.

The Dilbert animated series was solidly entertaining, but it's definitely a product of its era. Lots of smug jokes about how everyone in the world is so dumb and gullible. Seems like there was a trend of comedies starring intellectual characters constantly frustrated by the rest of the humanity.

Scott Adams himself got entirely too much attention for saying stuff about Trump. All his psycholinguistic and hypnotist talk was a whole lot of rationalizing. Even though Trump won, I don't know that Adams was accurate in his assorted assessments, but it was easy to look like he knew what he was talking about when all you had to do was compare the rallies to see that Trump had an undeniable lead and the media was purposefully trying to stop him because they were in the pocket of the DNC.

The cartoon is completely different from the main series, it's much less grounded in reality and they tried to give more characterization to various people. Dilbert in particular is basically a humanitarian with little social skills, which kind of goes against his asocial-and-happy-with-that behavior, everyone else is just ten times more the characters they were in the original. I get a kick out of Wally's VA sounding exactly like I'd expect him to, if not even better.

That's because he's actually a neutral, profit-leaning, pro-comedy kind of guy, except that while all his colleagues in the entertainment industry are either controlled by their parent companies or react to social media the way they react to press conferences, all of them tend to shoot themselves in the foot with left-leaning comments that they either don't really mean or don't understand. Most of these people wouldn't give a damn about politics unless it was profitable, except they didn't realize that they'd be forced to double down on these opinions on a daily basis. Adams, instead, can simply claim he "predicted" whatever was going to happen and left and right will just have to accept it at face value because his comments aren't based on political agenda as much as common sense.
Gave me a chuckle.
100% sure someone will post the strip with Dogbert hailing Trump, which is in no way just a way to show the dog is amoral and cynic for worshiping a billionaire instead of God

>>>/oven/
Everyone knew it was going to be a rocky race for everyone but Trump, it's just that no media outlet wanted to admit it and we all didn't believe that he and his (((helpers))) would be so influential as to gain that position.

Alice herself was based on some female coworker Adams knew that was pretty much manlier in action and thought than all his colleagues.

I liked the cartoon. The comic strip is hit and miss, and his banters about SJWs are hit and miss too.

Scott Adams is truly a prophet

Thought the same thing, this guy knew man

Dude he called trumps win in like '92, ill see if i can find the strip

Looks like i rembembered wrong, close enough

This comic is 17 yrs old

Ironically Kathy Griffin played Alice in the cartoon

user, 1990 was 27 years ago.

Where does the time go?

Ho boy…

...

No one ever posts Dilbert 1 though.
Also funny story, apparently Scott Adams has acknowledged these videos' existence but he just jokingly commented he was horrified that Dilbert's pocket was on the wrong side of his jacket.

ranch… or cool ranch?

… ranch?

...

and yet still relevant

I remember watching a Making Of with the various voice actors and Scott Adams casting them, the one about Dogbert was particularly funny as Adams pretty much said that he feels Dogbert says what he's too afraid to say and Dilbert what he is supposed to say in a workaholic environment.
Though the one thing I don't like as it's shown here is how Dilbert bounces back from being an asocial engineer with occasional moments of genius to an egalitarian. He does drop it occasionally but I guess the only reason for him to have faith in humanity is just to let Dogbert show his better points.

I never really cared for the comic, the show was alright
