So what's the consensus?

Now that it's been some time since Samurai Jack finally ended what's the consensus on it?

Shitty kike-fied ripoff of Frank Miller's Ronin and Berserk.

Rushed ending, forced drama, no final fight with Aku, everything disappear including the good people that helped Jack so they die for nothing everything was for nothing.

half-truth because there are antisemitic moments here and there.

Everyone hated it. You can trust me, I'm an user.

This was bound to happens since episode 1.
Yep, due to
I wouldn't mind it so much if Ashi wasn't such an uninteresting character. Also Tara stronk can't voice act for shit.

I will never understand that complaint. Anything but that is unfulfilling. That was his entire mission.

To me the problem isn't that he went back in time, it's how they didn't really address the glaring time paradoxes that arise from having Ashi be the one to send him to the past - If Aku dies in the past and Ashi never existed then who sends Jack back to the past to defeat Aku?

There's also an unaccounted for Jack in the future that isn't Aku, alone and probably pretty confused

This, we all knew that if Jack returned to the past and undo the evil that is Aku, everything would change. I think, most people who have a problem with this are waifu fags who liked the ship.
Personally I am glad we received one final season. Yeah it's rushed, flawed, with some bad decisions here and there, I would have preferred if there was no Ashi, but it wasn't horrible, it wasn't Legend of Korra and there wasn't any lore rapping, or lesbian shipping. The first three episodes were the best.

Jack had true conviction, I don't care about waifus removed from your primary timeline that said Jack deserved happiness after all that shit

This is the only thing that actually bugs me about how he got back.

The beginning of season 5 was heavenly but the quality soon dropped like a stone after episode 3 when Ashi became a main character.

Spot on, Shadow Ashi was pretty cute though

this isn't reddit, pal; we're not a hivemind.

Yes, I'm still mad.

Ruined by by the shit Sue (((Tara Strong))) introduced into the final season.

Pretty much.
/thread.

First three episodes were awesome, Jack has PTSD or something from the Samurai Ghost that follows him. At this point anons were thinking "Who the hell is this? Is it representative of Jack's Fury or perhaps it's death riding on a pale horse?"
We're shown as well that Jack isn't the same Jack, he's become cynical and only wishes to return to the past but his mind is haunted by his inactions.
There's a woman faction known as the daughter of Aku rising up for the sole purpose of killing Jack, and after Scaramouche gets shanked, Jack is surprised attacked by the daughters in the Crypt, he's pushed forward by the Samurai ghost and his suicidal self.

Ashi is what ruined this season. It pisses me off how great the first three episodes were, Jack could have gotten himself a fucking wolf! But no we got gook-faced Tara. Not only was she bland and an uninspired character, her being in the story bogged down the quality and presentation, because so much time was spent to a shit romance in the time span of less than seven episodes.

I have a minor nitpicks here and there, most are explained by time restraints but whatever;
Why have The Scotsman die, turn into a ghost, only for it not to be used at all during the final confrontation?
Why in any logical reason would Jack keep Ashi alive when he killed all of her sisters other than plot?
In the final episode, Aku sees Jack and Ashi travel to the past with her BULLSHIT PULLED STRAIGHT FROM GENNDY'S ASS Aku powers, It would be natural to expect Aku to travel to the past as well, why didn't he do it as soon as he realized they left? Surely Aku can time travel whenever he wishes.
I was expecting that Wolf to be Jack's partner throughout this season after he killed the daughters, fanfiction when?

Objectively speaking, season 5 a shit.

This would of been pretty good

Don't say I didn't warn ya.

I'm just glad we got a fucking ending. Ideally I would have preferred if we had a two parter finale, we could skip the one episode where he and Ashi kiss after fighting the weird leech monster, and then we could have had plenty of time for a good fight with Aku in present and past.
In the end I don't really hate Genndy for what happened, he knew this was the only chance he had to give Jack any form of closure, and he had to take it. Shit, the network didn't even give two shits about him while he was making the highest viewed show on Adult Swim when they told him to fuck off because Surprise RIck and Morty premier. It wasn't ideal, it wasn't great, it's just what we got and I'm glad Genndy got to say he finished his most popular work before being sent back to the Sony Pictures mine to force out Hotel Transylvania 3 for the Adam Sandler money train.

Had a blast watching it with friends. Had almost as much fun watching anons get butt blasted at how it didn't turn out exactly how it "should" have.

That's the history of Holla Forums: muh fanfiction.

There's really nothing that makes Ashi a better character than than Korra.

Go away, Dracula.

Here's an idea. What if, because there's no Aku, there is logically no reason for the sword to exist, so he loses that immediately. Also, because he still went through the portal, time travel rules cause him to still not age. He's left to try to make a living in the world with his primary skill, fighting. He eventually earns a reputation and is hired by a bunch of people in some criminal underworld to do their dirty work. He eventually meets a girl and she kinda becomes his reason to leave the business since he's done enough work earned quite a lot in his endeavours in terms of earnings and reputation. They get married, but she dies, of course, because he can't ever be happy. She leaves him something, though, to give him a chance to move on with his life in peace. Unfortunately, there's this major player in the criminal underworld he was a part of who's too young to know him by reputation. By some sheer coincidence, that guy decided to fuck with him by killing the dog his wife left him and steal his car. The rest of the story is about him being really mad about that.

By sheer coincidence, his name is kinda still "Jack".

She's not Korra.

Actually makes her worse; porn in Samurai Jack's art style is fucking garbage.

Jack's mission isn't to go back to the past, it's to kill Aku and save the world from his evil. By monomaniacally focusing on going back to the past for four seasons he ended up a swordless loser wandering around killing mooks. Best ending would have been Jack killing Aku and coming to terms with the past being the past, no do-overs.

I think this would likely have been a more satisfying ending. Either that, or the creation of two timelines - one where Aku ruled but was then defeated, and one where Aku was defeated in the past. At least that way there's no paradox, Ashi could still "disappear" back to her original timeline and the folk in the future get to continue to exist.

Is Jack's past more important than a Post-Aku future?

To Jack it is. A future in which Jack didn't return to the past, means that he failed to save his family and kingdom. During the first episode of the final season, Jack is tormented by the guilt of knowing that he is stranded in the future and he can't save his parents.

Yes.

But why is Jack's kingdom more important than all the individual and unique cultures that were born from the adversity of growing in a world where evil once ruled? These people were willing to fight Aku even though they knew they stood no chance - do they not deserve to continue to exist?

Do Jack's family deserve to be saved?

Not at the cost of a Aku led future that can be prevented.

There is a chance that those int he future could come to exist some form, those that died during Akus reign were lost forever

You know nothing, John Snowmurai.

Because it is HIS kingdom. A man that would damn his own people for the sake of those from another land is the lowest of the low.

Let's not say dumb shit we're going to regret.

I hope you never get into a position of power.

Does being in a position of power mean you have to eradicate an entire planet's worth of culture?

A position of power means you can eradicate your family/tribe/nation for the sake of a foreign one.

This isn't just about Jack's people. This about all the millions, even billions of people that Aku has made suffer over the many years he ruled. And it's not just on Earth - as we saw in the second episode he is spreading his evil across the galaxy. Does that measly bit culture that sprang justify all suffering that came before it?

For waifufags apparently yes.

Most of them died in the final battle anyway, when aku did his rain of spikes move. If jack had stayed in the future he would have been surrounded by corpses

He doesn't just eradicate a family/tribe/nation, he eradicates an entire planets worth

If Aku is defeated in the future then for all the billions that died there are equal billions now free of his subjugation - Do they not deserve a chance to exist?

Aku eradicated planets worth of people, Jack did the right thing, in saving so many lives by going back into the past, and as other mentioned all his friends died at the end anyway, so what reason would he have to stay there? To become king of the new world? He never expressed any desire for kingship or leadership, and he becomes emperor anyway.

...

Literally who?

You still haven't answered the question– does everyone that died under Aku's reign not deserve to live?

The chick he got his first kiss from.

Does everyone who died under Aku not deserve to live?

Exactly. None of them get to live if Jack doesn't go back to the past. You may argue 'oh but certain people won't get to live in the first place' but you don't necessarily know that, and even then, the world is still irreparably fucked by Aku that there's still going to be pillaging, raiding, etc. The future is too far gone to save. That's why Jack's mission is go to back to the past. It's in the fucking theme song.

First 3 episodes were kino, rest was flick tier

back to Holla Forums

I know i know, i only hang around Holla Forums for sj threads, other than that i dont really lurk this board because i dont read comics nor watch capeshit

That scene is goddamn beautiful, man. Why couldn't Genndy bring her back?

I think we can all agree that that ending is not satisfying
I posted a similar ending but here's how to fix the entire season:
"morphing" back through his various outfits, from bearded wilderness jack to the armoured jack from the first episode, through several easter egg costumes from the original series, back to his regular samurai outfit

2/2
Pure autism

Anyway, the salt is delicious.

1st 3 episodes were amaing

Ashi is shit the wolf should have been Jacks companion

...

Probably Jack will marry her after he ends his mourning of Ashi (I suppose he has to move on if he is going to be the next emperor). Bringing her back just right after Ashi's death seems inappropriate.

I liked it.

>>>/fanfic/

Those absurdly huge eyes are creeping me right the fuck out

Monkeyface was less of a problem than THAT

Confirmed for no taste

TL;DR

That shit is terribad

I hate when fags try to push their horrible fanfiction. Your story is shit. The entire point of the series was Jack inevitably going back to the past.

I'm not that faggot you retard, I just read it.

You still thought it sounded good, you fag.

what up Holla Forums

What up, trumpcuck?

I forgot I had these. I should organize my files more often. Here you go fags

this

Glad I didn't read your shitty fanfic.

because genndy is honestly shit at storytelling

you should have been able to tell that when the flashback in that episode didn't end with Jack realizing she probably got killed by Aku

would have been a real tearjerker

I know, can you tell PPG was popular at the time?
They always seemed hideous to me too. Wish they looked like this.

We know, user. You already made a retarded thread about it.

I hate you and all the other fags in this thread like you.

Amazing series with a shitty ending. That's it really.

Except we saw nobody get hit by the spikes except Rothschild.

Go back and rewatch the original series. He drops going back to the past in S3 in favor of killing Aku in the future.

[citation needed]

The last episode of S3 had him trying to find another time portal. He failed but didn't renounce it, he just started looking again. In the infection episode in S4, he cries because if he had stumbled across the pool if he wasn't infected, he would have been able to make the wish to go back to the past. There's less episodes about him finding a portal, but that's because S4 focuses so much on other characters rather than Jack himself. He never once gives up going to the past. It's the whole goddamn point of the series.

idiot.

...

Go away.

nice.

ew

Why would she go back to her mother's lair? I think where everyone's grips comes into play is when Ashi defeated that army. I didn't think too much off it but it's clearly the turning point of when people started to show concerns.

Hey Holla Forums

Holy shit summer hit hard.

get back to Holla Forums drumpfsberg. nobody wants you here nor your maisie williams posts

Maybe the great error of Genndy for many here is how Jack returns to the past.

The trouble with ending the unended.

He gave the fans what they wanted.
Alas, you should never give fans what they want but what they need.
We needed Jack to salvage the future.

Why?
The entire premise of Samurai Jack is Jack returning to the Past. Why don't you get it?

...

I think the massive asshurt comes mainly from Ashi/everyone in the future getting deleted, not him going back to the past.

She looks like a powerpuff girl wtf

Stay asshurt Ashifag.

Reading comprehension, fag. It was the user I was replying to that was asshurt about the ending (and for a stupid reason).

We can all agree on this:

Despite its flaws, and rushed plot (they had to basically plow a whole season's worth of content into 10 30 minute episodes, they got to do hour long episodes for special episodes back in the day)

And despite the TTGL ending, it was still better than most of the cartoons that have aired and completed in the last 7 fucking years.

sounds like a want to me, faggot.

Stopped watching right there.

and that was the bitter reality from day one.

That all of this connection to the future was only temporary based on Jack's ability to go back in time. That future was never meant to be. If Aku didn't use time shenanigans. It would have never happened. The connection to all the characters, and the audience getting to know them was the great sacrifice he had to make to make things right. Millions of lives that were created out of Aku's conquest of the galaxy, as well as those lost, were all undone. I doubt the Scotsman will ever be born, or the Spartans, or the talking dogs, or even lulu. (btw, was lulu retarded or something? dogs could talk in the future) because the events that led up to them being born likely will never happen, certain ancestors will never meet or will.

But that's okay, they were never meant to be. They also will never know what it's like to suffer under Aku.

It was absolutely fantastic and people don't understand the purpose of it, nor do they understand how the original worked.

The end subtly touched on the nature of obsession and had glorious real life parallels.

Yes you got what you wanted, you got to see him back to the past, but at what cost?

Spectacular finale and Holla Forums is full of a bunch of whiners.

They will never know what it's like to exist either, or what it's like to chill in the afterlife forever once you die.

You lasted a good while in.

His weebery has better taste.

Yeah but they also won't know what it's like to not know what those things are like, though.

tl;dr

I thought the time travel thing was more like an alternate universe? Like he went back in time and killed Aku creating an alternate timeline right?

nice

Thats the core problem with the ending. Ashi vanishes, and we are left to assume the same thing happened to everyone else in the future since the ending gives absolutely zero closure to all those characters.

It's embarassingly obvious Gennedy lost direction for the last season after the first few episodes. From the underwhelming role of the Scotsman, the unneeded Ashi (forced in from Gennedy's Waifuniggery and feminist pandering), and the rushed finish that didn't really grant closure on the Aku Future.

The season 5 went to shit when he shaved his beard

Good enough.

Could have been a lot worse for the current year, but could have been better. I'll take what we got though.

He didn't shave it though, it was shaved for him.
And the season went bad 2 episodes before that one.

It was great & I was terribly disappointed.
It was terrible & I enjoyed every minute of it.

I would be cool if Jack with beard like he appeared in OP image- For a moment I thought that some time has passed after his defeat and he was tortured by Aku, hence being almost naked again and having his beard grown back.

Cont of
Like this teaser. Unfortunately I can't save the original one because I took for granted the youtube url and today I found that it was deleted
