Our history appears to be cyclical, because it is based on Joseph Justus Scaliger's global chronology. The basis for our global history constitute a mere 3 (three!) books by this guy. With statistical methods you can find patterns that shouldn't be mathematically possible in a random happenstance. Thus they describe the same event.

You need to read Fomenko. If you want to date an artifact you use scientific methods. But these scientific methods are often based on other artefacts that are already found and placed into a timeline via e.g. Scaligers books. Thus if Scaligers assumptions are false then the method is false. Without such assumptions a lot of dating methods can only place stuff into a range of one thousand years or more.

My point is that before giving up because the decline a la Spengler, maybe we should think about this a little more and inspect every little detail, every assumption. Because it's kinda important, isn't it?

I read Spengler and the wikipedia page is very deceiving. It might have a catchy title, but it should really be translated as "the going down of the evening lands". He is really a post-modernist, with a touch of occult and mysticism in a sense.

Most of the book is dedicated to noticing cultural and social aspects in history, as well as in the systematic thought in each respective world view. He spends a shitload of time trying to prove the classical world and the faustian world are not related except in mere sequence. He spends even longer exploring art in obscure and interesting ways. It is a solid book for undergraduates to read, although if I was to suggest it, study a few papers in Latin and Greek first as the older translations have specific references to philological meaning.

Holla Forums and many far right intellectuals, including Bowden and Bolton, view him through the Eyes of Yockey's interpretation. That of the coming of Caesars and using the book to guise prophecy.

My biggest problem with Spengler is that he basically said "all cultures live and eventually die, I'm going to talk about them here, mostly in relation to western culture, now listen what I have to say" I don't like how he cut out all this interesting stuff about how world changes thru time. It's like he shut the doors and then established narratives of different civilizations and compared them from within.
This can be only because of three reasons. He, as you said, may have been a post-modernist who thought everything is relative and there is no ultimate purpose or meaning in history. Secondly, he didn't want to say a word about future because he feared being wrong about anything. Or he was the ultimate autiste with no interest beyond his passion project.

I don't think we'll ever know. Still, his work has value and he seems to have been a good man. And since I think his work won't be forgotten, I hope my view prevails for both his sake as a person and our apreciation of his legacy.

History has no inherent trajectory or dialectic attached to it, such teleology is inherently Marxist and thus distorts an objective record of past events - they can be learned from and can be counted to give predictions to some causes and effects, but they are never inherently deterministic of current situation as the variables are never exactly the same.
Spengler is not wrong intrinsically, but the base he starts from is already broken before he begins and thus conclusions are formed from the incorrect assumptions.

The West, save for internal corruption, has no inherent seeds of destruction with in it, there is nothing in the overall canon of the Western Civilization as carried from Roman beginnings until now that dictates that our values and way of life must disappear - there are a host of extenral circumstances, yes, but none of them are originating in the western values themselves, but are brought about by exploitation and subversion of the values themselves.

We all know the chosen people behind it and if history teaches us anything, they are responsible for all kinds of issues in all nations they appeared in, not the cyclical nature of nations. Actually, I agree with you on the whole. But I dislike e-sports because it just brings corporate cancer with it. I loved it when it was just some Brood War or Quake III tournaments played over the weekend in a rented-out convention space. That was fine. What's wrong is when the only competitors are owned by a team who is owned by a company that is owned by another company that is owned by a mega-corporation. Within a couple short years, look at how every CS:GO and DotA team has gone full-corporate.

StarCraft players formed teams to buy practice houses and to cooperate on strategy and improvements. Quake pros were always independent, and just did it for the sake of improving at the game. Now it's become a bunch of casuals (no surprise, given neither CS:GO nor DotA take much skill) and about pandering to sponsors for money. It wasn't *that* bad at first, when it was just putting some logos on a jersey to pay for food and a place to live, but now it's not commonplace, but expected, for players to sign themselves to a corporate team. You're either amateur, or you belong to a company. It won't be long before it's impossible to compete unless you have a major backing.

Most of Holla Forums stands against e-sports because they think the idea is a bit silly, and I am happy to disagree with that group. But I'm more than happy to rail against what e-sports has become. I'm not sure it was ever destined to be anything else. Even if good games were being played, I guarantee all the players would sell out just the same. Or maybe the resistance to pure corporatism is what prevented Quake and StarCraft from getting big? The money and attention attracted a lot of normalfags.

The Republic died with the fighting between Marius and Sulla. Both men represented factions and families willing to murder all of their opponents without regard to morals, laws or social cohesion. Sulla's faction was responding to Marius's faction so you can say they were less stained.
