Education Reform

What were you taught in your highschool, Holla Forums?

I am convinced that most of the highschool subjects are completely useless and there should be a reform so that education in schools will actually serve a purpose, by making individuals better prepared to join adulthood.

For example, learning things such as complex numbers and the species of the animal kingdom are completely impratical for a person who wants a simple job to survive through his life. So instead of biology and highschool mathematics, highschool students would be taught computing, the basics of economy, the political structure of the country they live in, law and so on. Of course that some traditional fields would be kept, since they are "useful", but I find most people would agree that most parts of highschool are replaceable.

Do you agree with this?

If no, why, and if yes, what exactly would you replace in highschool and what would you replace that with?

I personally find many parts of chemistry, physics and math to be useless for highschool, and only makes sense to be taught in college. If I could, I'd replace them with law, politics, economy, computer things, a second/third language such as mandarin or french.

I also would like to ask what other problems in the structure of the highschool system fellow Holla Forumsacks can identify, and/or ideas to improve the highschool system in general.

I was thinking that perhaps the third language option that was mentioned earlier could be chosen by students, so that the nation that utilizes this sytem would have a population that speaks several different languages. They would basically choose a language that includes Chinese, French, German, etc..

Learning magic a la Touhou wouldn't be bad either.

The primary issue is that those within the millennial generation were raised under a "be anything you want to be," rather than a do what does best for those around you mindset. As a result, you have more people majoring in worthless areas.
Not to mention the increasing failure-to-launch problem that has skyrocketed the amount of NEETs or people who just don't bother to engage in former rites of passage, IE, marriage, home ownership, so on.

We're in for some bleak times as a society.

This and other nebulous non-advice like "just be yourself" are poison to young people. Most people don't *know* what they want to do with their lives when they are in school. That is something they decide later, once they have seen and experienced enough of life and tried their hand at a few different practical skills/lines of work.
Instead, people should be encouraged to become useful and engaged members of society. Seek out what the world needs and seek to help others.

This is a separate issue. People aren't buying homes because they cost too much and millenials are poor, being forced into serfdom by their failing economies.
You'll see more people marrying when moving out of your parents home/having children makes sense financially again.

The SICP should be taught in schools.

Usual leftist bollocks, believed it up until the 2nd year of Uni, by the time I graduated I was fully redpilled simply due to being around the multiCult.

A bunch of knowledge and skills I would have eventually obtained from my daily route on the internet.

No. Subjects are just one problem of the litter. The truth is America is shit at teaching. Adding more valued subjects to them is like giving a bigger gun to an untrained soldier. I've been in schools in my past time, and a lot of my further down family tree is attending school. It's even worst than I remember. You have no idea what kind of jewish scam common core is. Unless you're paying for some fancy school with a good reputation, expect the answers to be given or hidden, but nothing learned via professor solely.

Don't want to derail the thead but what the fuck is that?

Horse foot without the hoof

Ouch.

Phew, what a relief.
I thought I was looking at some sort of highly technological Japanese dildo or the dick of an exotic animal.

Logic and philosophy should be taught in High Schools along with more trade focused paths. When I went through HS it seems that if you weren't on the college track, you might as well not have even shown up.
College is great, for things that require it, but not everything needs 2-4-6-8 years of more (((education))). It's mostly a scam at this point.

Things I wish I was taught in highschool.

Boys and girls really shouldn't be going to school together. Coeducation prevents gender specific education, and girls end up distracting boys from learning how to be men. If you've seen Kickstarter TV, you probably heard Sam explain how boys who are popular with girls from a young age never learn how to create their own self-worth, and end up spiritually crippled failures and are usually cheated on later in life.

Of course, all this would be nice in a society that isn't totally pozzed.

I've always thought there should be a high school class on how to do your tax returns.

Why not just stick to the three Rs? You can teach kids to be proficient at each before high-school.

Literature books that all students should read:

These are no longer optional. The puppies must be forced fed this. If we want a truly "free" country, they need these texts.

Also this. People need to learn:
1. How to build a computer.
2. How to program.

That is the education systems biggest flaw right now.

...

Kids need to be taught how to budget; how to balance a checkbook; and most of all, HOW TO READ AND UNDERSTAND LOAN CONTRACTS. Children must understand how to hit the Merchant where it's weakest.

test

anyone else having posting issues?

But if this happened it would be anuddah shoah! Kids these days are smart, they should be able to figure it out without us teaching them.

This is why removed all home ec classes from schools!
This is why we removed mose accounting classes as well!

There should be no standard education alltogether. It's a socialist idea that prevents innovation and the improvement of the education system. Schools should work just like companies in the free market: adjusting their curriculum, the classes they teach as time goes and they would do that freely, without having to follow a government model. A government model should be just that: a model. And models aren't necessarily followed. Schools should be able to decide by themselves what is taught and what is not. This would greatly improve the quality of education, since it would be the teachers who know what the fuck they are doing rather than some politician who can't into algebra I decide what is taught in the classroom. Besides, with variety, eventually a school or a group of schools would eventually stand out, and so other schools would follow that model to avoid going out of business, thus increasing the quality of education across the board.

Nothing of value really, i was shunned for having different opinions and openly mocked by my classmates for most of my time there (until i manned up) and forced to learn useless leftist paint-coated crap. I could be somewhere in life if it wasn't for school.

Checked for hot rat man.

I wont get into specifics, but as a recent graduate I've set out to establish a counter-Common Core, working closely with schools around my home town. One school in particular has been very helpful and allowed me to substitute for an extended period while a teacher was on maternal leave. The school is located in an upper-middle class area, and is roughly 95% white, and this reflects in the student population. Test scores are relatively high, well beyond the national standard. Still, probably for the funding, the school integrated common core on top of the other federal education mandates it already utilized. During my time, I talked to high school students to see how they felt they were being educated.

These students were in an advanced English course. They were all very smart. I shit you not, every single one was essentially redpilled, but some cared more than others. Unanimously, they agreed that every assigned piece of literature starting from 6th grade was either entirely about or had undertones of "racism is bad". They all agreed that Common Core "cooperative learning" was counter intuitive for learning mathematics. Every single one wanted more options in advanced finance, business, and computer skills. There are a couple of things the school did right, but they mostly take the form of completely teacher-driven initiatives, such as specified classes in the english department.
Also, as a side note, the students there voted 78% for Trump, while the faculty voted 67% Clinton in a separate election.

No one in my highschool had the slightest clue as to what was happening in the other part of the planet. I remember reading about the protests in Homs back in my senior year and no one bothered about it.

Replace British literature something that allows students to see the unfiltered reality outside our borders.

What I do remember is that for the core classes (Math, English, Science) the teachers preached about the SAT and how college is the next chapter of your life.

Why is everyone posting 2hu on Holla Forums so much lately? Not complaining, but it's weird.
sage for offtopic

Because you are supposed to post your favorite 2hu and why you hate the kikes. It's a code.

(checked)
W-well, my favorite 2hu is Yukari and I hate the kikes because without them, we'd be in Imperium of Man-tier society right now.

There is nothing anybody can do to improve the high school system because the problem isn't the system itself. It's the children. No matter WHAT curriculum you're pushing, you cannot teach a child who does not want to learn. The blacks cannot read because they do not want to learn how to read. The whites emulate the blacks and seek nothing but drugs, sex, and alcohol. The asians will cheat harder than anybody else to maintain the illusion of their perfect grades to their parents.

What if you don't have a favorite 2hu but still hate the kikes?

Speaking as a math nerd I couldn't agree more. We spend more than a decade in the school system and what the fuck does it teach us?
our parents can do that.
the parents can teach the former, and you effectively never need the later outside of STEM jobs, and even then you'll have a better time learning them if you've committed yourself to those jobs, which you wont do until you're in your late teens.
Fucking useless, and they don't even teach you the good classics, just "muh slavery" "muh holocaust" "muh women's suffrage"
Now these are actually interesting things, but only for some people. Most people will never need them for a job, and even less will understand them well enough to get any use out of it.
Yeah ebul nazis, history without a proper cultural guid to it ala Hitler youth, is just a weapon used to against us.

Really, schools should focus entirely on practical skills, teach me how to drive and how to cook, how to garden and repair clothing, teach me fucking life lessons instead of trivia and factoids and poz.

Then you better do some soul searching, because you are an incomplete being.

And holy fucking hell THIS. Segregate the schools by sex, and dedicate classes to teaching boys how to become men (mandatory physical fitness training), and girls to be housewives (all sluttly behavior needs to be demonized to them from a very young age). You need to structure the entire society around sex roles, and abolish the use of the word gender since that's a fake word invented by the kiek John Money, who used it as an excuse to rape little boys.

Your quads speak the truth, you have no idea what it's like to have been a weeaboo for over 10 years and still not have found a waifu. I have abandoned 3DPD and been forsaken by 2D.

Polite sage for off topic.

Oh shit these digits demand to be checked and praised!

My favourite 2hu is Satorin because she cannot be tricked by jewish lies and will remain pure maiden and lover of animals and architecture.

I hate the kikes because they are evil genocidal maniacs they accuse us of being, no one else has ever committed so many atrocities and gotten away with it (for now) as they have, fuck them all.

Well, there's this dangerous islamic terrorist…

Even the mudslimes didn't commit anything on the scale of WW2. Not even trying to defend those warmongering pedophiles, but they're marginally less worse than the shekel stealing warmongering pedophiles they share the desert with.

The Jews have the nerve to celebrate Hanukkah, the event in which they were not genocided as a consequence of them ethnically cleansing all the Greeks from Jerusalem.

beautiful digits

I find that the school system is great, just very badly utilized. These are some key changes that I think would massively benefit society:

1. Remove higher Math, higher English, and Higher science (I believe there should be a conceptual class that doesn't bother teaching the math of it and just explains somewhat how the universe works)
2. implement a "life studies" class that teaches things like how to do taxes, basic emergency medical knowledge, cooking, cleaning, working on engines, building things, use equipment, nutrition, etc
3. A grueling physical education program starting in the sixth grade and lasting until graduation that encompasses lifting, cardio, and fighting for the men
4. A logic class
5. A history class encompassing our government structure, the liberties we are granted under the constitution and why they are important, and the errors our country has made in the past
6. This one is just personal preference but I would like our children to learn Latin as well as English.

(checked!)
My favorite 2hu is Flandre, because she's high energy and gets things done. I hate kikes because literally every single thing I was told was an anti-semitic lie about them turned out to be 100% factually accurate.

are cirno

though your reasoning is gay, because you fail to grasp the significance of the classes as they were tailor-made for you to perceive them so, i agree that the public school system is shit, but i realize that is intentional.
I wont bore you with my reasonings behind this theory for the moment, and instead get to the point: the solution is to completely abolish the public school system and the teacher's union. ideally you would instead replace this with tax cuts proportional to the amount that the person would was previously paying into the school system so that they may spend for their childs education however they wish. and maybe, maybe, subsidize the building of private schools and the establishment of homeschooling associations via buisness tax cuts for no longer than a ten year period.

Other than engines I learned all of this in middle and highschool.

From school itself or just while you were in high school?

Anything but those (((subverted))) creativity killing worksheet factories
15,000 hours of subversion. Teach kids how to think and let them do what they want.
Mandatory Sport
Trivium: Grammar(Who,What,When,Where)[Input], Logic(Why)[Processing], Rhetoric(How)[Output]
Quadrivium: Arithmetic was pure number, Geometry was number in space, Music number in time, and Astronomy number in space and time
Mandatory Ballroom Dancing with the female school for an alternative to the popular tribal dancing of the day

Jesus Christ you're fucking autistic. Thank god you're not in charge of education. I'd take common core over whatever the hell you're proposing.

From the school itself.
We had 2 elective classes a day that were things like shop, home economics, health occupation, sportsball etc. You got to chose one to keep for your whole time in highschool and the others changed every once in a while so you could learn a little bit about everything.

didnt save the pics but w/e

Public schooling is the NUMBER ONE scourge upon humanity!
This is what it's like in the US: you learn to read and write, do basic calculator math, and you get a very vague and hazy overview of 'history'. Just enough for politicians to use historical celebrities to push their personal agendas while leaving the bulk of the population clueless to what history actually looked like and why things are the way they are, and making them not want to know since they disliked their schooling so much.
All the while they're teaching children to fear, obey, and receive all 'truth' from constantly changing figures of authority to whom they are essentially helpless. A divide is put into the family since children are torn from them too young for too long when we've evolved to live side by side until old enough to fend for ourselves; it kills oral tradition and leads to children and parents not understanding or appreciating one another, since they both live in entirely different worlds during the day and when they're finally under the same roof, they're so exhausted and emotionally drained they just want to vegetate in front of a TV or a computer monitor. Little deep connection or conversation happens here than in families closer to one another
Don't you see? It destroys families and destroys their knowledge from being passed on, replacing it with bureaucratically preapproved information. It's a tool for control

Take the children, force them to WASTE their entire childhood doing absolutely nothing productive or useful, force them to associate "learning" with tedious and mediocre work, then they go home and associate "fun" with tv and the media.
The schools are not intended to teach children, one of their main goals is preventing them from learning too much that would make them less dependent on the system. Having just enough skills to be a useful cog in the machinery is the aim, and of course with the proper brainwash upbringing.
Teach the children to hate learning, to love being unproductive, and guess what?
You may as well have taken everything from them, and they don't even realize it.
It is the worst crime ever committed, the worst institution ever conceived of, yet no one talks about it. Ever. Those that do are ridiculed.
We should be ANGRY. They took away the one thing we can never experience again and never get back, our childhood.
We should be livid, we should be politically organizing against the people organizing it. Yet no one cares, they just let it go.
It confuses the students. It presents an incoherent ensemble of information that the child needs to memorize to stay in school. Apart from the tests and trials, this programming is similar to the television; it fills almost all the "free" time of children. One sees and hears something, only to forget it again.

wat. I thought his plan was pretty okay. I think we should have a set of tracks: math, biology, chemistry, physics, history, etc. You should test in and test out of the tracks as you go along - the minute you can leave a track, you bump up to a next level course. Start new classes more frequently than semesters to help with this. Make a tiered degree structure, basic, moderate, and advanced. School should also not be mandatory past a certain age, perhaps 12. Anyone who wants to be a fuck-up beyond that point can, if they remain in school, all they do is ruin it for the kids who want to learn.

It teaches them to accept their class affiliation.
It makes them indifferent.
It makes them emotionally dependent.
It makes them intellectually dependent.
It teaches them a kind of self-confidence that requires constant confirmation by experts (provisional self-esteem).
It makes it clear to them that they cannot hide, because they are always supervised.
Backpacks are a slaves weight
Homework to chain you down at home
No windows to "stop distraction"
Tests to grade your worth and stress you
And constant indoctrination by mediocrities and shit textbooks
The education system is not "broken", it is designed to ruin children. It creates imitators rather than innovators. It defines intelligence as the ability to remember and repeat things. It is also designed to make students weak and submissive as adults.
Instead of finding children with creative and analytical minds it punishes students who question the curriculum and rewards mindless parroting or solving per-determined tasked with per-determined solutions.
The thing about weak and submissive adults is absolutely the primary function of schools. Learned helplessness is truly the one things schools are ultimately about.

...

Education in literature-related fields was pretty pozzed and openly left-ligning already back in my year but not full-blown traitorous self-hate and pro-degeneracy. Math and science fields were okay. That was 20 years ago though.

I was taught by my highschool history teacher that SS soldiers were forced to raise puppers and then kill them after a year so that they would become remorseless murderers on the battlefield and in the torture chambers.

It wasn't until years later that I realized it was all a big lie.

That was a plot point in Kingsman: The Secret Service. Hollywood really can't stop recycling things can they?

Not all, you anti-intellectual nigger. Math are the key to reality and zoology/biology are the first red-pill on evolutionary principles, both banes to libshit propagandists.

Holla Forums and /jp/ culture have long been intertwined. It comes and goes in cycles. Jews fear the samurai.

I'm sorry, young man, please rephrase your response in the form of a 2hu.

TBH the one thing I wish they'd taught in high school when I was a student is lgbt stuff. It would have spared a lot of suffering.

elaborate then asshole

Lets also not forget about common core and how stupid it is and how much more stupid they are trying to make all the children become.
Think back to the beginning of gamergate. all of the gamergate shill sjw femminazi's kept on saying "gaming is dead" "videogames are dead" as if to make it a meme and convince people that videogames are really dead. Holla Forums almost agreed with this but they and everyone realized that there are still many good games out there and videogames were and are still not absolutely dead, just surrounded by cancer.
The real goal of these "videogames are dead" SJW gamergate shill femminazi's was

great, year old copypasta no longer works thanks to the twitterfication bug.

quote from different anons:
"The vast majority of people still send their kids to these places. It boggles my mind how such ignorance could be so copious. Today on the bus there was a girl with her mother. She was crying because she was scared to go to school. The mother started yelling at her and made her go anyway. I don't understand the kind of depravity that would allow a person to do such a thing. I went to school everyday with tears in my eyes and came back with tears in my eyes. It was hell. I wouldn't wish that nightmare on anyone. And yet almost everyone has to go through it."

"I legit was just thinking a little earlier today how furious i was that I was forced to waste the most developmental time of my life learning absolute garbage. 12 years of grade school and they legitimately teach you nothing practical. American schools, and i'm assuming most European, are not institutions of education, but rather behavior modification and social conditioning. Its really tragic"
"Every time something bad happens in my life I just remember "At least I'm out of high school".
Fired from my job? At least I'm out of high school.
Someone treats me like garbage? That ain't half as bad as when I was in high school."
"High schooler here, and there's also other points being missed here. Not only is it making the idea of education less fun, it is getting more intense all the time now. Now everything needs to be higher; you need higher test scores, you need higher SAT scores, you need to decide what you want to do at a younger age, yaddayaddayadda. The point is that most kids arent ready for this decision in their life and will either pick the easy way, and end up trying and failing for sports, or trying to be a high acheiver. Personally, im the latter, and the problem is that this level if education is too much. The stress and sheer amount of information being crammed into our heads is too much. I have considered suicide many times and cry myself to sleep often just because of the pressure. Its just stupid that people would do this to children just because its normal and if we dont like it too bad."

Down here in shitpostistan we have (or had, the govt likes to change things regularly) a reasonable program wherein the less intelligent kids could exchange a few high school subjects a week to learn a trade. Tradies here are a huge part of our workforce, and are sort of a half-joke, half-respected caste. I think they should take it one step further, where after you finish junior and middle schooling, you essentially elect to go into pre-university (streamlined senior schooling, emphasising on subjects of interest) or pre-apprenticeship (loosely monitored trade program), or you can fuck off and work elsewhere if you can find it.

Really, in aus, education is the least of our problems. It seems to be a bigger issue for the US because their schools have been cucked by generations of niggers lowering the standards. Note to burgers: never provide """free""" university, it really does create an entire generation of useless eaters. Un-fuck your student loans if you can, but at all costs avoid the "everyone can go to college" meme.

very sad example of "kitty cat HANG IN THERE FRIEND" poster overload at school from an user.
"That reminds me. Imagine taking a class that has no windows and all of the walls are plastered with posters. You can't put your eyes anywhere without seeing them. And if you try to look away, the nacrissist you are supposed to be worshiping has a meltdown. And they are designed to be as asinine and distracting as possible. They drove me into panic attacks. I completely lost my nerve so many times just over those posters. It's not something that bothers you at first. It's just an annoyance. But as the years go on and with all the other things happening, it turns into a blistering rage. One that has to break eventually. Like Chinese water torture except in the form of eyesight pollution. And then of course it's time for psychologists and forcefully voluntary medication."

Totally agree with you op. Here is a list of shit that needs to be dropped and shit that needs to be mandatory

Drop
- art, music, drama, etc… this speaks for itself. What a fucking waste of time. It's a skillset you acquire over your life primarily through self learning, not some liberal spewing garbage at you.
- English. I loathe the fact I was forced to spend so much of my life on this tripe that taught me a sum total of NOTHING. The literature aspect will be relocated to another class which I will expand on.
- Sports. Physical fitness is important I won't deny, however sports are a waste of time, what practical skills do I learn from kicking a ball around? If kids want to do that they can do it in a club after school. This will be replaced with self defence classes which I will also expand on
-'social studies' or whatever your school called it. This is straight up state brainwashing and it's removal doesn't even need justifying.
- history, this will be amalgamated as part of the same class that English gets turned into

Retain as electives
- chemistry/physics/biology. Everyone should be allowed a chance to learn it at school but should not be made mandatory as it has little practical relevance for most people.
- maths mandatory up to a basic everyday use level and then made an elective

Add
- self defense and shooting classes. If you teach people to be dangerous from a young age unarmed, and to have a healthy respect and knowledge of firearms, crime rates will drop like a rock. Who is going to mug someone if they know they have been learning from a young age how to kill/disable with bare hands and are proficient with firearms?
- history and moral philosophy. I shamelessly stole this idea from starship troopers. This would incorporate all the useful elemylents from English such as critical novels that people must read. A heavy focus on how history is cyclical and how to identify patterns in history. A totally unbiased focus would be made on past events so that children might learn from them. They would also be made aware of their responsibilities as a citizen of their nation and made aware of shining examples of famous citizens that gave their lives for their country.
- politics. Mandatory classes which explain exactly how your governmental system works, as well as those of major powers around the world. They would learn to compare and contrast critical components of the different styles of governments as well as historical facts regarding the failings and successes of different systems.
- everyday life skills. The amount of people including myself that get dropped into the adult world without basic skills is fucking criminal. Children should be taught basic budgeting, cooking with cheap ingredients, gardening and growing vegetables, etc…
- trade skills. From a young age children should be encouraged to learn a trade, and that trades are not for 'dropjicks'. Some of the smartest people I know are grubby cunts who haul heavy shit around and fix pipes and crap for a living. Work placement should be a focus from a young age so that they can determine if it is a job they will actually enjoy. This would also be an elective class.

I genuinely believe in public schooling, it's a damn shame it has been corrupted so heavily.

The Jew fears the Yōkai.

Canada here. I was taught that

There's plenty more but I firmly believe the government wants to brainwash children through our education system and that most teachers are already victims of this.

My highschool was a "silver medal high" which I think means its one of 2000 best public schools in the US. If that's true I can't even imagine how easy a bad one would of been.

I wonder what they actually teach in the so praised by weeabs Japanese highschools.

The reason Japanese high schools are idolized so much in Anime is because the corporate salaryman life is such a soul crushing spiral into despair and emptiness that they all look back on high school as being the most idyllic and free times of their life – despite the fact that high school was still turbo stress exam prep and full of bullying.

If students had to take aptitude tests to get into middle and high school like Japan I have a feeling the US would be able to save a lot of money. I know at least that much

My nigga! Always hated PT because of how ultimately useless it seemed, not even the best and most promising athletes in my school became professional sportsmen except for my sister lol, women's basketball. I appreciated the traditional dances part of it ethnic dances of OUR ethnicity but unfortunately wasn't good at it.

That sounds kinda harsh though. What happens to the kids that don't make it?

I'm not Japanese and I find that true even though my highschool experience was nothing like a anime one.

My understanding is every schools is different in what they have on the test you would have a "safety school" like when applying for university. If you fail both of those tests I guess you would be out of luck, I was thinking it would be a good way to get the shitskins out early.

Much as I value math and science, OP is probably right that we're teaching too much of it to people who will never benefit from it. We could spend more time on history and integrate it with philosophy, economics, literature, etc. Assuming we've already removed all the poz, bloodily.

School should be more autodidactic too. Colleges have hybrid courses where you do all the reading and practice work on your own online and just come in once every week or two for discussion, labs, and tests. It saves a shitload of time and makes you more responsible. It also integrates learning and practice far better than class-and-homework do.

Checked beyond all checking.

What makes me distressed is the thought that this might be the only way to make self-disciplined people with appreciation of country, tradition and purity but on the other hand I remember that the Jap's are still closet degenerates with some major repressed sickfuckery issues and castrated followers of the gubermints even if the later isn't nowhere near as pozzed as our's or Worst Korea's are.

These are the most compromised fields though, silly. It's hard to well-poison positivist fields despite Common Core promoters' best attempts at it.

Weeb speaking out of my ass here, but I'm confident that this doesn't really happen in real life. Like all places, their various schools are not all equal. You have prestigious ones, and retard/delinquent dump schools.

Considering the Japanese people by and large are not retarded like niggers, it's near inconceivable that one would fail to test into every single possible school available. If god didn't smile upon you and made you retarded, then you could at the very least go to a delinquent shit-school and do your thing there.

Also middle school is mandatory in Japan. I'm sure that it's literally impossible not to get accepted to at least one of them, somehow, since that'd be illegal.

I said assuming we'd dealt with that. If we got a hold of the system, I'd like to see that.

Biologic disciplines are the future user. It will be both the proof of our racial superiority and our key to making catgirls for domestic ownership real.

return fire.

Any student showing affinity for and interest in the STEM fields should be doing at least 40% math for the last two years of highschool.
Also as another user pointed out, work ethics and discipline. Being able to glide through highschool while not needing to put much work in can really fuck you up in the long term.

I went to the "best" public high school in the state at the time at least and it still felt like prison half the time I was there
couldn't imagine having niggers in my classes, just the druggies and wiggers caused enough shit.

also Patchy a cute

Guys, our catalog is getting slid again. What this time? I didn't see anything particularly incendiary, I think it's a fucking experiment during a slow hour.

the busywork killed me mentally, I never did/finished the shit because I knew I could ace the tests without much effort and still pass the class in the end. this gave me a weird result of decent work ethic in crunch time but no motivation any other time.

Same. Just can't amass the motivation to do things ahead of time. It screwed me over once already, but there won't be a second time.

I've been trying to break it for years, it's slow going.

I think what we are seeing is the result of a post-industrial service heavy economy. A lot of traditional jobs are stigmatized as low-tech (read low intelligence) and/or are becoming increasingly automated. Coupled with what previous anons have said in regards to the current generation been fed the lie of "you can be who you want to be," you have a legion of millennials who can talk a lot of theory and feelings, but not one of them will know how to do basic car maintenance or basic plumbing repair.

This is also do in part to the bullshit job the fucking boomers have done in raising their kids and screwing up the economy. They've spent the last 30 odd years buying shit on credit, and suddenly realized they have to work a decade extra to pay off their jewish masters. They've babied their children to a point that thirty somethings with degrees in victimhood do nothing but…. act like 3 year olds throwing a tantrum.

To answer the OP's question, the education system pretty much needs to be fucking rebuilt from the ground up because as it is its nothing but an indoctrination system sprinkled in with standardized testing to make money for the testing schools.

High school should be a place where each child's proficiency and aptitude is discovered before preparing them for an educational path that maximizes their potential after high school, whether that be an apprenticeship, more schooling, hands on work, etc.

It's not entirely young generations fault for not having practical skills in some regards. I know in my country the government scaremongers hard as fuck in regards to your house

It really fucks me off because it's a total bald faced lie, you can do 100% of your own plumbing, all electrical work outside of switchboard connections and all building work that isn't related to load bearing walls or weather tightness. A guy I knew went into a carpet shop to get some new carpet to do his sleep out. They refused to sell him carpet because he wasn't a registered fucking carpet layer, what a joke.

also I can't fault kids for not knowing how to do maintenance on new cars. My old man asked me if I could oil change and swap out a few CV joints and other bits on his 2015 car in return for some beers. Fuck me they definitely are making these new cars complex on purpose. A job that would take 20 minutes on a 90s car takes 2+ hours on a new car as well as raging at stupid bolt locations that are obviously put in difficult places on purpose so you need specialised tools to get to them.

...

is that some kind of law regarding house work?
the thought of paying someone to work on non-critical parts of my house doesn't even cross my mind

I'm in highschool right now and all they do is shill for student loans

this, very much

Yeah, it's happened at least 6 times to me in the last 2 days.

get the fuck out nigger
quadrebra is the future

Why the fug was this anchored?

Omfg those new car engines man. They add as much bullshit covering all the shit you need to get to with as many wierd ass screws and shit as possible so they can trick people into bringing it in to a shop and paying out the ass for "labour".

They also do the bullshit of adding a few wires to part of an engine and calling it a "computer" so they can add an extra 500 to your bill.

Underage b&. But seriously how bad is it? It's been 5 or 6 years since I've been in the system and it was bad then, I bet it's totally fucked now.

No it's not even a law. All registering is for is so that Mr handyman doesn't go around replacing switchboards. They just shill it so it sounds like you cant do it yourself but as the homeowner you totally can.

But yeah I'm the same, I'm a carpenter and occasionally I get called out to do shit like fix a squeaking or jamming door, or make a frame for some trellis. Everytime I look at the customer and just think 'how fucking useless are you that you can't do this yourself?' some shit I can understand not wanting to DIY but some stuff, like what what the fuck man you could just Google it and do it in 10 minutes….

(((Mods))). God forbid we have a thread that isn't about Donald Trump for a change.

how so? the worst I got was "tours" of for profit schools that sponsored some tiny bit of a class.

if I had to guess, OP opening with a question.

Why can't OP's open with a question? Obviously shit like 'How can Holla Forums ever recover?' is garbage but this was a well thought out OP that engenders constructive discussion…

Wakasagihime and my foreskin.

I got out a couple years ago and can confirm. It's nonstop shilling for scholarships, loans and colleges. It's fucking ridiculous, I know at least ten kids who just gave up on college entirety because of the amount of shit being pushed in their face
