You're right but you're only looking at one side of the equation. The concept of childhood is also a bourgeois tool to create a weak and dependent populace. Children should be properly educated, put to work, and given responsibilities as soon as they are able to handle it the way it has been for most of human history, far sooner than the current standard of late adolescence. The current system of public education mass produces incompetent underdeveloped idiots who at 18 years old know little more than basic reading and arithmetic skills.
