Wow it is fucking nothing.

literally fake news

This doesn't change the fact that this was a undocumented extension loaded in to browsers who enabled "experiment". Through another "experiment" in October they just hoovered up 1% of users browser history. theregister.co.uk/2017/10/09/mozilla_tests_cliqz_in_germany/
I'll sage too though I honestly can find a browser on my own was just curious if anyone had any decent suggestions.

and when you catch a naked man under your daughter's bed, who cares he hasn't raped anyone yet

icecat
vivaldi
brave
w3m
qupzilla

palememe (yes it sucks) and Links

qupzilla a shit

Icecat or For Browser. Might try qupzilla.

So? Literally only retards would enable this stupid shit.

Literally a fake news site.
Even the first sentence contains many lies. This experiment wasn't enabled for 1% of german firefox users, but

OP, listen:

1) This board is full of firefox shills. I've been posting things against firefox for years, and they always come swarming instantly. They will try to convince you that the valid problems with firefox are all "FUD" (dumb term, by the way) and that you should stay with firefox. Just ignore them.

2) Most common replacements are only a little better. For example, palemoon and icecat have many of the same problems ("phoning home" and such) as firefox. You're going to have to go outside the box. Try Midori, Qupzilla, Otter...whatever. But in the popular ones, you're not going to find a non-botnet replacement. And yes, I've tested all this.

and after you kick the naked man after your house, who cares he isn't in your house anymore. Gosh, Holla Forums, you're so autistic. A bad thing in progress was caught out and removed due to a backlash because the bad people didn't hide it well enough. What's the issue? I see no issue.

Explain. Only retards who explicitly oprted into experiments got this experiment. Where is the issue?
Exactly

(((You)))

I've been replying with qupzilla, but for kicks I fired up firefox.
oh hey experiments are enabled
I definitely didn't opt in to that.

i wonder who could be behind this addon
daniel c. howe
(((mushon zer-aviv)))
(((helen nissenbaum)))
you know what they say about almonds don't you

They are not enabled by default. So yes, you have opted into them.

No, I've only posted true things that firefox did wrong. How can you shill AGAINST something, anyway? I don't really care about what browser is popular. I don't have a dog in the fight. I only want the crap that mozilla does to be exposed. If people still want to use FF in that case, then so be it.

...

man it's spooky how settings are only how I don't want them when I use software from certain developers.

You tell me
Then why are you shilling against Firefox?
Agreed

ok

PM still sends out uniquely identifying requests. Run a local proxy and see. It's barely better than FF.

Dude lmao if I punch someone only a retard wouldn't block it lol

>Allows tabs to span, rather than crunching them into one fucking area like this fucking bullshit
I didn't think it was asking for too much, but the only reason I'm married to Firefox (via Palememe) is because it (they) are the only fucking browsers that fulfill these two simple criteria. If someone wants me to switch, this is the minimum barrier for entry. Qutebrowser had some promising developments but development has gone at a snail's pace, and they added a CoC so I've got sub-zero confidence that anything will come about.

What are you even trying to say?

KYS

spyware.neocities.org/articles/vivaldi.html

Daily reminder chrome is made by cucked manlets

Palemoon looks the bst option at the moment. And I tried IceCat, but the browser doesnt let me create thread in Holla Forums, and cant see the update/auto in the low part of a thread; Plus there are websites that even whitelisted by Noscript/Umatrix, still dont load or have issues. This happens even when I deactivate GNU Librejava/script. I dont know what to do...

Holla Forums clearly isn't respecting your freedoms

No but really, it something affecting me only? Then how do people browse 8ch in iceCat then?

I use "links -g".

I also use lynx. Posting with it right now.

Firefox and any other "modern" browser is garbage.

I tried Icecat in the past too but I had so many problems I dropped it almost immediately. It can respect my freedoms all it wants but if I can't do even basic things like read manga or watch videos, then what's the point? If I have to switch back to a different browser half the time, why use Icecat at all?

Most websites have javascript programs that disrespect your freedom. The consequence is that there are many kinds of websites that abuse this by causing programs to spy on you and track where you are. When you use Icecat, non-free programs are restricted by default so it is impossible for your freedoms to be harmed. Only free Javascript programs will have the right to run in the Icecat browser.

Pale Moon furry doesn't care about users' privacy at all

What's so wrong about hitting that button that removes all cookies?

mozilla (((shills))) out in full force.

(((fake news shills out in full force)))

Fuck off. I never had any issue. If you care anything about your privacy you already disabled whatever let's Firefox do this stuff.

Do you do it for free?

Of course I do, that's how free software works.

Can you not see images then? And why do you do it? You can still be tracked, so what benefits does it offer you? Just curious. I've always liked the minimalism of those text browsers, but I never saw any real reason to switch to them over a simple and minimal browser that actually can load images and let me do what I want to do.

...

...

it's chromedrones and google shills trying to concern-troll and FUD about firefox and mozilla

you sound like the rustfag that mozilla pays to shit up boards with rust threads.

Safari. Upgrade your computer to a Mac, and you'll get it for free.

Use waterfox

But I do it for free. I will start making Rust threads again after Christmas.

not sure if trolling or just stupid

The last good Macs were PowerPC

Sorry, OP. Just like most politics, it's become a choice between a self-righteous douche and a shit sandwich.

Or, upgrade to windows and get a free buggy pwm that leaks your info.

I'll downvote them.

"links -g" displays images. One good reason to use simple browsers is that modern browsers don't run well on vintage hardware. (My computer is vintage.) While one can be tracked regardless of browser choice, modern browsers like firefox present the additional risk of security holes that can compromise your entire system.

The web was never supposed to support media. It was never supposed to accost you with unwanted audio or video. It was never supposed to hijack your screen and show you pictures you did not ask for. It was never supposed to make your browser run code (js) without your permission. It was only supposed to display text (useful info) in a simple manner.

I do email with an email client. Youtube videos can be fetched with a script. Several porn sites work well with "links -g", allowing you to download their videos directly. Firefox users probably have to sign up with the site or use an add-on to get that functionality.

This is how I do things on my "main" personal computer. (Old laptop with OpenBSD.) Has all my personal emails, software projects, documents, etc. I have a separate computer (Mac) for [work/school]. I use it for research & writing, study materials, and work/school email. I will sometimes use that machine for personal things, such as internet shopping or listening to music on youtube while working. But no serious personal stuff happens on it.

But they just released a new update that actually sped up performance.
The CoC is a red flag though

???
github.com/qutebrowser/qutebrowser/blob/master/doc/changelog.asciidoc

I've found literary the perfect browser. In Qt examples there is simple browser project which is basic browser built with QtWebEngine - chromium with all google botnet removed. Only thing that needs to be modified is to implement adblocking and/or plugins.

I did the samething with webkit in C. You get the core and a pretty much functioning browser with less than 100 lines of code. Everything else is just writing a front-end, and I presume there's a bunch of options to expose.

This really is the best answer. Most of the browsers out now are either spyware/adware or CoC infected cancer. With webkit or qtwebengine, writing your own browser (or the front-end anyway) is easy.

I assume if you really wanted to you could go in and rewrite/override parts of webkit or qtwebengine if you think you could improve on it or really want something done differently.

Was this a joke suggestion that I should be ashamed to have taken seriously?

Or just use a real browser based on that - like qutebrowser, QupZila/Falkon, or Otter Browser.

which will inevitably turn into bloated cancer, try to monetize and introduce spyware, call for white genocide and promote faggotry just like firefox did.

I used firefox 56.0.2 with upgrades turned off.

Is pale moon that god awful browser that forces a shitty "alt+tab" layover to ctrl+tab use?

enjoy being fucked in ass by exploits

so the idea is to avoid using any system or standard which is too complex to be possible to reimplement by one person in a few months?

maybe it's because you were browsing with a Mac user agent or otherwise had triggered the gay detector?

...

Multiple browsers, multiple OSes, none of them Apple-related, and all giving the same thing.

that would be a nice goal but it's unrealistic. qtwebengine and webkit would be impossible for one person to recreate in a few months. now that there out though and so easy to use there's no reason not to use the lower level library and then implement your own browser with it. all of the cancer in modern browsers is implemented at that higher level. while it's certainly possible i kind of doubt they're going to infect qtwebengine or webkit with the aids, they'll leave it to the individual browser devs, or nobody would be using the libraries.

Why would you lie when it's so easy to verify?

Give me a good graphical browser recommendation that:
1. Isn't Links
2. Either has binaries for PPC Linux or isn't hell to compile
3. Will run on a system with a 700MHz CPU and 64MB RAM

:^)

iridium. its google chrome without the bad stuff

iridiumbrowser.de

netsurf or dillo I guess.

Oh god, this. Is there a way to disable this cancer?

Build cross-compiler for ppc computer, build Qupzilla, transfer binaries.

None of those browsers are viable options. Firefox and Chromium have huge developer and user teams, so security bugs are fixed faster. Open source Webkit hobby browsers are notoriously insecure.

How so? What does safari do on top of webkit to make it more secure than any old hobby browser?

After some ricing, behold Cirno Browser!

Features:
no botnet
easy ricing with CSS with Qt stylesheets (just create ~/.style.qss in your home folder)
minimal design
fast with low memory usage*
no CoC
no hipster flat design

The obvious answer is that I wouldn't and didn't.
I think I figured out what's going on.
If you refresh the page and watch how the various elements load, the button always says Mac at first, and only changes to the correct text about half a second later. If you look at the screenshots, you can see that the constellation things are also missing from mine.
Apparently the page would only partly load, so it would never change from the Mac button for me. Must be some sort of network problem, because it was present on multiple physically separate machines.

He's a consumer, so he has JavaScript enabled which changes the text, you don't so you see the default.

...

All alt-browsers are just dickriding the rendering engines made by Mozilla or Google anyway. You'd need an absolutely massive team to make a real fork.

...

Dillo is shit, it still doesn't support basic CSS2 like inline-block. Netsurf is alright but it's about as bloated as Mozilla Suite, not something you'll really enjoy using at 64MB

INSTALL ME, FAGGOTS

This is actually a good thing. People complaining about the UI can afford to fix these kinds of issues while leaving the internal work of web page rendering to those big players.

I'd use it but I'm on winshit and I don't feel like compiling it and shit

Dillo isn't great as far as standard support but it runs on very very low resources somewhere between links -g and netsurf. I really think you're giving netsurf a hard time though. You should try it. If you don't want netsurf dillo or links on a 64mb system I think you might just be out of luck.

I have both of them installed and I wouldn't want to use either as a daily driver, even on a museum piece like that. Netsurf-gtk2 uses ~80MB at startup and that'll cripple a low memory box

that's probably the issue, run the frambuffer version. It can run on actual garbage with half as much ram as you like the old amigas and ps2s for example.
hooktube.com/watch?v=Mojdsq2-VRw

Waterfox

I'm right now on waterfox. Seamless transition and no BS. Happy with it for the one day I've been using it.

I gave up and moved to Chromium and it's derivatives

I'm running palemoon with adnauseam

I never even uninstalled chromium tbh. I gave firefox an honest try for a week after 57 came out, and it felt like chrome with no attention to detail and a UX thick with condescending metaphors aimed at making toddlers and valley homosexuals giggle. It was fast enough to use but that means nothing when every background xmlhttprequest has a 40% chance of crashing the tab.
And then they pulled this shit.

echo '

Experiments are enabled by default in quantum. Also, even after I unchecked experiments in preferences it was still enabled in about:config. Not even joking. This was also on a fresh Ubuntu install without sync turned on. Plus there's reports of updates reenabling experiments without user input. That's some Windows 10 level bullshit.

This board really needs IDs.

Chromium.

The only browser engine worth using.

It's only a matter of time before Fale Meme is forced to switch to Quantum anyway.

Tor Browser should switch to that already, let Gecko die already.

Mozilla should just make Firefox Focus their main project.

Oooh you fucker, they killed requestpolicy, they killed Rikaichan. Utter bullshit.

Any reason not to use this?

ungoogled-chromium is better

...

In the long run it's a very small part of the bigger picture. Was it SJWs that caused Mozilla to consolidate bookmark data into a single giant SQLITE file fucking over multi-account and multi-system usage setups around v4.0? This is a very long-term trend that began a long time ago when Chrome first hit the scene of them selling out their users and values.

He's a Berniebot.

The most usable firefox fork is waterfox.
Other than that you might as well as use tor.

Or swtich over to the UNIX masterrace Safari, leave that chink unix behind.

America has never been a democracy nor will it ever be. It is a constitutional Republic.

All socialist must be slaughtered.

Everything he hates about the current systems and the utopian system he wishes for was already fulfilled by National Socialism. Sadly, people like him are so brainwashed by the victors over NS that he will hate it with every ounce of his being, just as planned.

Good.

Waterfox is absolute murder on RAM usage. I started using it a week ago and multiple times already I've found it using over 8GB for only a dozen tabs.

How are you even browsing 8ch, if you are using Icecat, then? because the last time I used Icecat I couldn't create threads, or let me see if the threads being updated.

Maybe because I disabled the addons like libreJS and use umatrix instead.
Maybe you should explore your browser first.

But I deactivated LibreJS. And I use both Umatrix & Noscript, but even when the site is whitelisted, and with Umatrix, all 8ch is in green, the problem persist.

still not nearly as bad as firefux tho

He is a VERY silly billy just like every other pathetic excuse of a 'socialist' that exists today. The kind that would be first up against the wall in a real revolution. There's a very good reason as to why nu-commies have moved away from "workers of the world unite" to "dude post-scarcity lmao"

A different shade of red is still red, homo.

Both new and old commies are bad, the bolshevik revolution was funded by globalist jews to control after killing the russian czar. Although many of the soldiers were masquline Orthodox Russian men, most were being led by a military primarily against national interests.

sage for off-topic, politics should honestly be reserved for left or right Holla Forums , but since you brought it up I must shitpost.

Something must be going wrong on your end, then. I have 30+ tabs open in Waterfox and my RAM usage hasn’t gone above about 2.5 gigs.

It's also globalist Jewish agenda to fight against the commies, especially in the US.

I hate commies, but your picture is pants-on-head retarded. "Surrounded and Funded by jews" my ass

firefox/gecko is a huge waste of time and effort but Mozilla wants to keep it around because they make a ton of money by conning neckbeards into using it.

there's nothing firefox does that chrome/safari/opera/brave etc doesn't do better.

That is why you should stop using meme browsers and go for the big boys like Waterfox or Pale Moon.

Is there a browser that isn't based on firefox or chrome, works solidly, is fast, low resources as in it doesn't grab 2gb of memory for a page of text and secure.

Or are they all just shit. I haven't enjoyed using a browser since about 1995.

I just want a good browser. Too bad none exist as far as I'm concerned.

Nice showflakes.
Is this animation implemented in CSS or JavaScript?

lel, nice find

...

Dillo and Netsurf.

Just tried out Brave, wasn't a fan. Already uninstalled it. I'm using Windows or I'd try IceCat.

Been honestly looking for an alternative to using Chrome and Firefox for years. But haven't really liked a lot of the others I've tried. I was using Opera for a short time a couple of years ago out of curiosity for the free VPN but then got tired of it real fast and went back to botnet and fuckfox.

I'm going to have to use something that's somewhat able to be customized or at least comes with or can acquire a "dark theme" I can't stand bright screens.

like pottery

go get the gcc faggot.

For a properly functional browser, you simply need a good selection of plugins, seeing as the devs are too chickenshit to include customizable adblocking, userscripts, advanced tab management etc. right into the browser because muh bloat. Nevermind that the modern internet is quite literally not worth using without several of those things. To say nothing of not even considering any features involving regex to give you finer control, because normies would shit a brick. So we're stuck with FF 56- and its forks, until someone either creates a browser with ana amazing addon capability, or just plain prioritize all the features that actually matter while telling normies to shove their e-mail managers and cloud syncing crap up their asses.

It's called the sticky, faggot.

The fact that browsers and internet have become shit isn't the devs own fault but the userbase.
The normie userbase is the plague.

>(((adnauseam)))
literally nothing to worry about
palemoon
even hotwheels support pale moon now. I won't give up on pale moon

vivaldi: reinvent the wheel v1 / babbys first hype clone
brave: reinvent the wheel v2 ft. botnet ads (if I'm not mistaken)
^hyped '"FOSS projects"' during forced windows 10 restart and linux migrants age

icecat: quite okay but still have insane about:config, sync, safebrowsing/malware protection, marketplace/hello etc.
w3m: unusable for certain tasks but at the very least it works
qupzilla: passable but lacking in antibotnet plugins - can do if you have good firewall or router
firefox: cancerous bloat, mr robot and doge meme, might as well just install nightly for extra telemetry and go back to fucking /g/, bloat
google chrome: hopeless

Fuck everything. We need some egghead to crawl and archive the AMO, including older and beta versions, before FF60 hits.

Nah, fuck em. Fuck all of em. If they don't provide the fucking .xpi as a static link on their addon's github release page, they're not worth jack shit. 99.9% of the crap on firefox's AMO was malware infested garbage written by Chinks and Pajeets.

Many addons, especially smaller ones, don't even have a page at all, or even were started before git became popular.

And I confess I never stumbled upon any malware there.

Worthless.

You don't belong anywhere near electronic devices.

No, the upgrade is bad because it's bad.

The answer is Waterfox

He is the kind of retard who has auto update enabled in his play store. Software mostly just gets worse over time. Try Firefox 2, it is insanely fast.

It also has a vastly outdated engine. You may as well use Lyx at that point.

Since when? This board has been unanimous in its hatred for pozilla since years ago when they first announced they planned to kill xul add-ons.

Yeah all you have to do is remove all protection against malware add-ons and leave your browser completely exposed. That's totally not punishing the users for daring to use an add-on that the almighty dev personally dislikes, no sir it's completely fair and 100% reasonable.

Why does your browser need protection against malware? Why are you choosing to malware into your web browser at all?

You guys should check out breach.js and Fifth Browser (FOSS). I really wish you could pay for a better browser like what QtWeb could've been.

I shill for Firefox for free.

It's a shame that the modern web has to rely so heavily on css and js. I use links when I need a lightweight browser that won't take up too many resources while I compile a lot of shit or have videos rendering. It's really nice, but 90% of websites don't even try to look remotely presentable without css or js; which is a bummer because it makes general webpage readability hard without it.

Wow such achtive development.

Are there only blue and green haired faggots and teenage girl acting sluts in their thirties working at Mozilla now? Do their release engineers think the users are happy to see half their settings changed for no good reason?

At this point "release" firefox is just like win10, a glorified beta that treats its users like idiots, following the example set by google. 58 also had a drive-by remote execution exploit in their shitty react devtools. Use ESR.

Can you install firefox addons on pale moon?

I miss Presto Opera...

Non Webextension crap? Many of them.

All FF 27.9 and below work. Most other versions up to at least FF52 should work. Just remember to use the Moon Tester addon which allows you to force any addon on Pale Moon to test if it really works out (ignoring the FF version #). Or you could manually edit the .xpi but its obviously easier this way.

They have their own add-on site, which is slowly growing due to the FF exiles and a xpi archive for when AMO goes down. Many of the addons in said archive will probably end up in their addons site (at least those with permissive licenses).

Some of them are compatible and some need to be substituted for alternatives or PM-specific ones. Enjoy Swedish furry browser, I started using it years ago and don't really see why I should stop.

If moral addon policing was not repulsive enough, Pale Moon is now threatening ports with legal action. Starting an issue with "you will..."? Top grade asshole material there.
