Does the YPG have any real chance of establishing socialism if ISIS is defeated?

Does the YPG have any real chance of establishing socialism if ISIS is defeated?

No, because ISIS isn't their only barrier.

Traitorous bastards. If they're still around in a few years, I want to go over to help as a plumber. Hygenic water is important, but I hope they last that long.

From what I've read their political and economic system is already based on a network of decentralized communes, so it seems to me like they are the real deal.

The US is bomb-happy enough in the region already. Today ISIS, tomorrow Al-Nusra, next month YPG.

the us as of now funds them, and i think there's a good chance that whoever is president next wont be interested in nation building. obviously hilldawg is a hawk, but regime change in iraq and libya was such a disaster i dont know if she'd do it again.

the real obstacles right now are other muslim countries like saudi arabia and turkey.

No. Kys.

The US is giving them some support as an expediency since they are fighting ISIS. The minute the YPG starts making large territorial gains, which Turkey has specifically warned the US they will not tolerate, that support will evaporate. They will not let the YPG get the kind of support which would make bombing them anything like regime change, just stomping out another insurgent group.

I thought all brown people are too spooked for that?

Once ISIS is gone they are going to get fucked.

Maybe Putin will call off Assad and help them and the PKK just to trigger the Turks? We can hope right?

It's more posible a third world war

No, because Turkey is already realigning with Russia in order to crush the Kurds.

The Kurds will never have their way

Not happening. He'd rather support ISIS.

Color me unsurprised. Perhaps ISIS crucified them on the way out, now that would be poetic.

They're not out to establish socialism, they're establishing democratic confederalism. Still a major step above, oh, every other regime in the region.

The issue is with Syria. A fair whack of the oil is in Kurdistan. This was important to Syria's economy and will be moreso during the rebuild. As such Assad has said no to full federalisation. I think it is in the Kurds interest to seek short term deal with Assad over the oil. The Kurds have become closer to Assad than the 'moderates' of late and will have a strong hand when it comes to aftermath negotiations. I wish them well but also suggest they don't push for too much too soon as Assad's (and the 15-20 millions Syrians) main objective will be stability and rebuilding. The Kurds unilaterally declaring not just themselves independent, but claiming ownership of Syria's oil will lead to another civil war.

He's already been supporting the YPG though.

...

Why isn't there a sticky'd thread for putting a group together to go join the YPG?

Because the majority of the people here have neither the skills nor the ability to help or join the YPG, to say nothing of ideological differences, etc.

Assyrians > Areps/K*rts

ALL POWER TO THE GREAT ASHUR!

They are actively encouraging westerners to come, even those without military experience. They provide training, and inexperienced fighters can still preform important duties guarding supply lines, maintaining order in liberated areas, and serving as civil defence and reserve units.

As for ideological differences, this is something plaguing the left, when the time comes for action we have to learn to co-operate and resolve our differences afterwards.

Sounds like a true 1914 socdem.

Anyone from Holla Forums thought about going to Rojava?

For example, this guy was just killed while fighting with them.
