Not quite. Tito himself, as based as he may have been, made quite a few missteps. If I remember right, a major contributing factor in the IMF loans was failed attempts to further decentralize the economy.

After he died, the political misconduct of the Communist party, regional in-fighting, and international finance's interference screwed the Yugoslavs over. The economy wasn't even that bad until the country collapsed politically due to pro-Serb douchebags forcing their shit down the other region's throats.

We need to reunite Yugoslavia by the way.

It clearly collapsed because of external pressures placed upon them, and also because Yugoslavia was a Frankenstein state ripe with ethnic hatred. Market socialism best socialism.

It is bad for countries that were not resource wise self-sufficient(ergo any modern country with exception of Russia).

So basically any country that isn't a massive bounty of natural resources.

Plenty of countries have the available natural resources to be self-sufficient. It's just a matter of having the management techniques, technology and political direction to work with it. The United States could be self-sufficient if it wasn't so massively wasteful and did not have such a gluttonous porkie class (both problems would be solved by planning and purging).

It is market socialism with Chinese characteristics. State practically controls every single large corporation within china with its committees that decide on the chairs and policy of the companies themselves.

It is true that we don`t have the same social security system as most of developed world, but non the less state still covers healthcare and provides citizens with education.

For it to be market socialism, it needs to be worker controlled.

It is not meager oversight neither since state does directly own 48% of all the companies(that make more than half of the GDP). Although I do agree with you that reformists ruined our party and politics, but we need to keep marching forwards to the final victory. I do think that we need second cultural revolution to drive out the non-revolutionary elements and opportunists form our party but currently hardliners like myself are very few in number.

Yugoslavia was a ticking time bomb because only Tito could hold the nation together. He was kind of a dictator, but a necessary evil, because the ethnic tensions of the Balkans are absolutely batshit insane. He couldn't line up a proper successor so the IMF preyed on the new leadership.

The logistical economic failings didn't help either, but the cause of this is much more benign: technology wasn't advanced enough yet. Now communication is more than efficient and fast enough.

They had a market economy that wasn't really a market economy, the state constantly butted into and told companies what to do. Then they started stupid monetary policies and got dependent upon the IMF and that completely undid them

That's what happens when you make yourself fully dependent upon export oriented growth and foreign debt financing for industry

I'm saying the yugoslav model of workers self-management could have worked if the state had not interfered as much in all affairs of the economy, they made it very difficult and bureaucratic to get anything actually done
