My father gave up everything to raise me, he often made it clear he chose a life of self sacrifice and wanted it no other way because anything else would take away from the time we spent together.

Being a good parent takes a lot of time, and not everyone has the emotional sentiment to dedicate even a 3rd of the energy my own father set aside to raise me.
