People often want to confirm their own beliefs, because your beliefs play a large role in how you live your life. They're comfortable and important. When I investigate Christianity, I try not to get too emotionally involved by seeking divine 'feelings' or by getting too invested in communities or so on. That's not finding truth, that's adopting that which simply makes you happy, in my view.

As for your other points, I'm probably not well-versed enough in what you've read to address them. I've always found orthodox (be it Catholic or Orthodox) Christianity a little more comfortable in this regard.
