1. Read all the information in the tab
2. Close it
You can't do that...
How about chan-tabs? where threads can get more replies? You need to keep them open and reload them.
And even if tab is just some article or knowledge, then I might want to do something with it after reading it, like write my thoughts, or save it, or something, but I may feel not ready for this now and keep the tab to do that later.
<start browsing, researching, open 50-300 loaded tabs
How exactly does one get to this point. Pls explain
It's simple. You just need to be looking for something or researching something.
You start with a search engine query or with a wikipedia. You enter your terms, then open 15 results. Then open some links on that result pages too. Then make search query again but a little different, open 15 results again, open some links on them too, etc
There is so much knowledge, it's great!!! I want more, more, I need to collect it all
WHAT IS BOOKMARK
I don't like doing bookmarks because I know I will just forget about the page if I bookmark it. I will never revisit it.
Also bookmarks are bad, websites can't shutdown or something, and web archive is not reliable and not to be trusted, they delete stuff.
I think it is some sort of mental illness similar to compulsive hoarding.
Maybe similar, but different in one aspect. Compulsive hoarders hoard useless items and garbage. But I read great knowledge, articles, stuff, they are useful, but so many of them, I want all
I've struggled with this same problem basically since the invention of tabs OP.
I did even before invention of tabs, I just had dozens of Internet Explorer windows. There were no tabs but you could have as many windows as you want
If the reason that you are finding yourself with so many tabs is because you feel the need to finish digesting a webpage or article before closing it or bookmarking it, then I suggest making a bookmark folder labeled "to be read/organized" or something and put them all in that.
Implying I will ever open that folder...
I know I won't, that's why I am resistant to close or bookmark tab
I get distracted easily and always feel the need to complete a research tangent before closing all the tabs associated with it. When this becomes too big a task, I leave them and try to convince myself that I'll get back to it later.
Exactly this happens
I end up with multiple researches having their hundreds of tabs each
<how do I change browser habits
in your case, serious answer? adderall.
You think I didn't try? I tried amphetamine and other stimulants. But get severe side effects at low doses. I cannot use them. Sometimes I try some new drugs but they never help or just give serious side effects, I am tired of that risky testing. I did not found a single substance that even helps 10%
Close it when you finish reading a tab, OP. If you think it's useful, bookmark it. Group your tism bookmarks into a big folder for your autism, then subfolders for whatever they were for, so when you are out of shit to do and feel like it you can pick a single (important) subject and open that shit up again.
But I can't just close it. Often after reading there is need to do some action, or write some thoughts, but I think it's much effort so I don't do it and keep tab to remind me of that later.
Also I know that if I bookmark it I will just forget about it and not reopen. And there is no easy and simple way to bookmark 100 tabs, I don't want to click 100 times.
When doing research there's no way 150 tabs of Yahoo answers, quora, or stackoverflow is going to be useful.
It is useful.
Try completely erasing your browser history too, session and all, just to prove yourself you don't need all those tabs.
No way I am going to do that. And I need my tabs. I just want some way, some system, to store and manage them in easy way. Some addons, some behaviour of mine, something that will improve my researching and browsing
