Bread isn't made by itself you know..

We could have robots, though…

Because not working is a sin you sinner.

I mean, you could always starve

fully
automated
luxury
communism

get out Engels

you die if you work

The ideal economic system would be designed so that most (if not all) work that a human does will benefit society. That will motivate you to work. Open-source collaboration benefits everyone, and it's probably the closest form of democracy we have seen yet. But it needs to go beyond just computer software.

You don't. Full luxury automatic posadist-nihilist maoism-third worldism is the way to go

Ideally as much as could be done by robots would be, but some work still requires humans and probably always will if its to be done well. Things like teaching, social work, care for the disabled or elderly - as well as creative pursuits, creative aspects of construction or engineering, etc. and proban more besides.

*probably more besides

I think socialism/communism should ideally try to eliminate as much work as possible, not a huge fan of the workerism in a lot of the anti-idpol left.

same (op here)
Let's find ways to work as little as possible and allow everyone to do whatever they actually enjoy doing.

You don't need to. Well Socialism is an exception.

If it's Socialism your work helps to:
a) kill Capitalist scum
b) advance progress of Mankind
c) kill Capitalist scum

All those three things are too important.

Otherwise - don't work unless you really want to.

That's a Stalinist position, you know. Don't tell me you support holodomor and gulags.

You don't. Work is death.

Under a well designed and well managed economic system you wouldn't need to work at all. You could expect a basic standard of living sufficient for a NEET without doing anything.

I think you'd want to work though. Everyone has hobbies and wants to learn new skills. Whether it was drawing porn for people on the internet, fixing your neighbor's computer, or helping to design the next generation of automation systems, you'd want to do something with your life.

Then again, you might prefer to just become someone's cute little pet.

Why? Because work will set you free

where have I heard that before?

You don't if you can get someone to pay for your stuff. Even in capitalism you're still a consumer if you don't have a job. But in this system most people are lead to not believe that fact and look down on those without a job saying that they are lazy or leeches which isn't really the truth most of the time. Usually it's a lack of motivation and a despair for their awareness of the corruption of the system or just are mentally or physically unwell.

Auschwitz.

The Bible.

Under most economic systems you would die from starvation if you didn't work.

I fully support NEETdom due to its vampiric nature towards capital, consuming but not contributing.

Porky still profits from them so how does it do anything against that? Everyone else is already putting out more productivity than needed so it pretty much picks up where others dont work.

this. Why do people have such a hard time accepting that boredom, natural curiosity and love of community are great motivations for labor.

Even if I had access to anything I ever wanted, I would still want to go out of my house and contribute something.

How many of you feel the same? I think it is highly likely most humanity feels this way.

The reason work sucks is because you are paid for it, have no autonomy at the workplace and you have no choice.

Isn't this the end goal of all communist?

What is workerism and what is the Stalinist position?

NEETdom is a fine "revolutionary" option in late-stage capitalism.

More stress on the system and you retain some autonomy. NEETdom is preferable to low-wage-slavery.

Either work where you have some dignity and a fair compensation(under capitalist circumstances) or don't work at all.

Because you are an animal that needs food, water and air to live. You can't just have these things injected into you by the universe itself. Someone has to keep your fat ass alive. And if you don't pay them for it you're committing theft.

General AI is a pipe dream so you would still need to have people remotely controlling the robots.
Also this is ridiculously inefficient, you're going to be using 10x the energy we do now to do the same thing, what do you think that will do to the environment?

Yep, it's not like there are 7 billion examples of general AI around us right now.

Technically you can take care of yourself without a job or handouts but it would only be possible in areas where fruit and veggies grow wild or doesnt have too strict of hunting laws.

Most do not feel the same because they do not know that feeling. The system they are living in is the only one that they know and have grown up in. Thus they begin to rationalize and justify it by thinking that competition for resources (as opposed to cooperation for collective survival) is "natural" and "human nature."

Same kind of justification was used for slavery, genocide, et al.

No idea. Wiki says it's an attempt to influence things without seizing the means of production.

Blasphemous teachings, if you ask me.

In his last major work (Economic problems of Socialism in USSR) Stalin stated that for transition to Communism in Soviet Union, reduction of working hours (from 8 to 5-6) is an absolute necessity.

there's a difference between working and doing activities I enjoy.

YOU DONT

There is definitely some overlap, unless you enjoy nothing which benefits anyone else.

Even if you need to control the robots, it would still take far less people.

Thus, less people can do the same work for more pay.

I dream of the day we will reach interstellar travel and actual AI -the one reason that makes me push so hard toward working in a country and field that makes sadderer every day-.
Even just massive asteroid mining and particularly smart expert systems.

Because the day we reach space-based industry, we reach unlimited ressources.
Add AI and expert systems to that, and the only options become utopian golden age, or dystopian purge. Possibly both. Probably both.

Porky can't really profit without labor
Maybe neets buy things, but they aren't producing surplus value

They are using the surplus value extracted by other workers through taxes, or whoever pays for the neet.
So ultimately, higher taxes profit porky indirectly.

We still need to work (at the moment). But the reserve army of labour is so large and automation/labour productivity is so advanced that there is no reason why we should still be working 40 hours per week.

I have said before that we should shift to a 30 hour work week. And have a $15/hr minimum wage. $450/week is a reasonable amount of money to live on. Single moms and such who need more income to live on than singles could receive supplemental means-tested welfare. Like subsidized daycare and a child benefit.

I'm a NEET myself and I can't stand people who shame me for being lazy. How can you expect me to be motivated to wake up to an alarm clock and fight rush hour traffic for $8.50/hr? If they will even hire me that is. Even for a McJob there are too many applicants chasing too few vacancies.
