This just seems weird to me and like Poppy's characterization has taken a downward spiral. Seems like she exists for now is to make exaggerated faces and reactions, I'm starting to question if she had a good character in the first place.

I've spoken with people who have done chan projects before and that's the common sentiment. Eventually they feel it's not worth it to work (for free mostly) for a community that will turn on you so damn fast. I've seen some of them dedicate alot of time to what they were working on for a chan in addition to their own private life. Now they aren't looking for praise from it but it sucks when you come back with this thing, you're looking for feedback or anything to help you improve and all you get is an entire thread shitposting about one detail of the game.

Chans have lost good devs and artists this way. Now we in no way have to kiss people's asses but sometimes people getting pretty autistic over something that didn't even matter.

I remember reading through Poppy in 2015 and early 2016, and while the comic wasn't exactly perfect, the combination of good art and well-executed anime tropes was enough to hold my interest; set dressing like the birds having magic hands was interesting and clever. The cast of characters was initially small enough to be engaging, but diverse enough to make the world feel believable.

I think Morbi was poisoned by success. When I popped my head back in and read the dragon fight/school field trip arc a while ago, whatever hopes I'd had were thoroughly dashed. There was so much nothing happening and so many stories underneath the main conflict, I was dizzied trying to care. That particular arc was a low point for the art, too, since I believe Morbi was spending more time screaming at people on tumblr than drawing.

There have been other cases like this (Legend of the Hare, while fine by itself, gave me this niggling feeling since I discovered the author's tumbler and impassioned defence of the comic Strong Female Protagonist, among other things), but something about Poppy made it sting more. I'm not bitter enough to hope Morbi fails or finishes penniless and destitute, but I do hope he has some common sense beaten into him, either by some internal revelation or personal failure; as we all know, the tumblr road always leads to failure or insanity.

I honestly don't know what you expected to happen. I do, however, agree that shitposting on the level that causes devs to leave should be a bannable offense. as far as the plots go they're still there. Poppy has started some kind of combat training and hopefully she gets less retarded but who knows. the guys behind the curtain are still there fucking with everything and nuking cities (kidnapping entire populations i guess) they still represent as as of yet unknown but great threat that will eventually come into the forefront.

Did morbi revise the art? It seems pretty early what's happening but the colors are ugly and muddy I do agree that nothing really came of it thoughs.

The only problem I got with that is Poppy was supposedly looking for a quiet, peaceful upbringing so she could focus on her daughter with the few years she's got remaining.

The problem is that he introduced this grand evil that apparently can wipe out a whole city without a trace, that even the people high above the protagonist can't even do a thing to aside from irritate it. It's hard to care about the earlier plot arcs like the mob because we're expected to compare 'mob boss who is placated over flowers' to 'octopus Dr. Manhattan', making the mob seem awfully petty to even worry about at this point.

Poppy's own status being elevated didn't help. either. The earlier chapters were charming because though it was a stretch of imagination, you could still see a single aging mother getting involved in everything from turf wars to wrecking a concert (accidentally). But now that she's dating royalty and has somehow become responsible for her own kind over night, those matters would seem awfully petty to be involved in past this point- beneath her character's station, in a way.

Poppy went from 'underdog trying not to get trampled in a society that's adverse to her' to 'I'm dating the goddamn ruler of this place and also I have more pull than the mob boss that has put a sizeable amount of time into gaining an influential network so honestly it's hard to imagine me having trouble getting what I need anymore'.

Lily mostly got over that a while ago, back when she eavesdropped on Poppy and Kit having that heart-to-heart talk. Now it's more of a general fear of not wanting to be hurt when her mom inevitably dies.

Poppys desire for a quiet life was doomed from the get go. The moment she punched Valente she was put on a path of action. Everything she did was just that but it was all about her family life. She punched valente because he threatened lily. She fought in the tournament for the money to get lily eye surgery. She went after Chicadino to help eggton but also to insure lilys well being. The field trip was for lily and fighting the dragon while also to help everyone was mostly to insure lilys survival. The focus shifted to Kit now her "relationship" with Poppy was always a farce designed to shake up canopy. Only bad things can come from it.

I hope Vix hates possums and hate Kit for liking them.

When the hell did that happen? Last thing I recall about Lily was that she was learning to draw and she was still angry.

Lily's behavior lightened up a lot after this scene. She's still frustrated about her lot in life, but she's no longer openly bitter and hateful towards her mother.

I know what you're referring to and yeah she's not as angry as she was before. Her flat out saying she wanted to learn how to not be sad when her mother dies was more to unhealthy and cheek then pure bitter hatred.

She's more depressed now. It makes plenty of sense that she would be upset. In order the people she thought were her friends were shit talking behind her back and when confronted told her she'd never amount to anything. When she went to Poppy for reassurance the while dragon situation caused her to be ignored so she tried running away because everyone hated her. After the dragon situation ended she was basically told that her dreams didn't matter because she wouldn't live long enough anyway.
It manifested as depression then moved onto anger as a coping mechanism. Now she's back to being quietly depressed with the occasional outburst.

Look potential conflict that might lead to actual story progression. What the fuck is little bird exactly it's used by Chicadino to spy on everyone but how does it work? Does he have a sphere of influence? Does he tag certain areas? Does it have anything to do with his lucky star? Or is this just misdirection and Chicadinos lucky star has nothing to do with it despite what we've seen. He has a central dispatcher to pass on information enough that he new there was a ruckus in town but not that it was caused by poppy but he knew Fazzi was singing that obnoxious song.

hes established that Magic doesnt work on opssums but it works on clothing and objects. i dont think holding something would remove its magical effects completely so its possible that something poppy owns like the red banana would work best. remember poppys cloths were teleported but she wasn't and Fazi bent her fast but not her arm.

The plot remains the consistency of jello brand gelatin. Surprising no one Chicadino has connections to the royal family little Birdy is maybe magic and morbi asks we ignore that fact that they sweat since that's not true to life. An excellent preemptive action against a certain brand of autist.

Morbi was on a JoJo binge back in the day. It might also be a partial inspiration behind the Lucky Star powers. In hindsight, it's somewhat cringy.

Not necessarily lucky stars most likely already existed in universe from the beginning with some of them being inspired by JoJo (most notably Boris) it's not that cringy to be inspired by concepts it's not like he's remaking JoJos bizzar adventure from scratch and showing it off like it's his own ideas. You know like that one guy. Or that other guy that traced Bleach.

I agree there's nothing wrong with taking inspiration so long as you do your own thing with it. But a direct reference like definitely feels embarrassing. However, that's just me speaking as a JoJofag who dislikes how JoJo became the big normalfag meme that annoys everyone now, so it's just my opinion.

ahh understandable.Might as well ask if JoJos is worth a read i usually binge some manga or comic every month and I've been interested in JoJos mostly for the Machismo. i know there was or is 7 parts to it but I've got a lot of down time coming with my new shift change.

If you want to start JoJo then the simplest way is from the very beginning. Lot of fans look down on skipping any of the Parts, especially since they all (mostly) link together. If you just like the manliness though, I'd recommend reading up to Part 4. Midway through Part 4, the series experiences a shift in art style and everyone stops looking superbuff. By Part 5 pretty much all the main characters look like male fashion models, because the author is really into fashion. Then Part 6 makes it a little odd by starring manly chicks, and then Part 7 is about 1880s cowboys that look fabulous as fuck yet all act the part.

But yes, Parts 1-4 is manly fabulous men beating the shit out of things with crazy superpowers while posing. Then by Part 5 it gets less manly but even more fabulous and the superpowers get crazier and crazier until they reach world-threatening levels and shit gets fucked.

Fair enough how many chapters in each part? I usually binge 150 to 200 pages in a sitting but i also tend to reread whatever i binge thing at least twice its not autism i swear the second is to look at the art and see any little details i missed the first time and the second is to see how previous installments link up continuity wise its for this reason i know more then i wish of Naruto and Bleach also Shaman King but i actually enjoyed reading that.

Part length varies, though they've essentially been getting longer and longer as the series has gone on; chapters get longer, and more chapters in general. It's difficult to measure.
