In Nazi Germany, the most extreme anti-Semites were thoes that lived in the country side, where hardly any Jews lived in the first place. Actually living around and knowing people irl who are part of a group makes you less racist towards them. The problem is, all the kids on the internet hardly know any Muslims irl at all, amplifying the racism further, and again making them more willing to listen to fascists.

European level intelligence would likely be just as adaptive to chimpanzees, but nature only selects for the bare minimum required to survive and reproduce in a given environment. Surviving the northern Eurasian climate for tens of thousands of years simply required a higher bare minimum intelligence threshold, resulting in the evolution of better brains.
