5G Internet is On Its Way

5G Internet is On Its Way

Experts are saying that the next major advancement of wireless Internet technology will integrate every aspect of people's lives with the digital realm.

Most people barely noticed the change from 3G—third generation—wireless Internet to 4G, but the coming advance to 5G will be much more noticeable, technology experts are saying:

The report concludes that with 5G connectivity paired up with the emerging Internet of Things, “every aspect of life will find itself integrated with the digital realm.”

I hope to god that shit will not happen.

OF COURSE within the first mentions the internet of shit crawls in.

Why should anyone in the general population be excited about going full botnet? You could imagine why CIAniggers might be fond of this, but they're also morons as IOT is already super exploitable by anyone. This just goes to show that "advancing" technology aimlessly is retarded. Sometimes low-tech solutions are more practical. You do not need your toilet to be hooked up to the internet.

INTERNET OF TUMORS

Burn it with fire

Of course everyone will be excited for "omg more internets" even if they don't know what that means.

More insecure shit to hack - more fun. I bet that at some point there will be a really simple mass scan/exploitation tool for IoT stuff, and if 12yo skids will be able to run it on their smartphones, IoT will turn into one of the greatest dumpster fires of tech.

i have 200mbit internet, up from 50 a year ago. With the exception of sustained file transfers, no real difference vs before. 3G>LTE is imperceptible and I usually turn it off because 3G has better coverage and less power use.

You know except when doing any internet-related task which is fraught with latency because of buffer bloat and all kinds of other shit

Fuck technology should have just stopped in 1998. Pentium II, SCSI raid, Voodoo2 and Aureal Vortex for gaymes and none of this current year poz.

make it stop.

fuckin tachibana industries...

Yeah, the only real threshold for internet speed is "can it fetch 1080p video faster than real time?" Even if the answer if no, you can just keep it paused in the background or use youtube-dl etc.

All other uses are bottlenecked by shit latency due to >mobile and bloated web2.0 designs. The battery drain adds another issue.

This shit is mostly for normalfags - sales rep tells them "it's faster", and normalfags think "oh 5 gigabytes is more than 4 gigabytes so it's better". Since they are too retarded to accurately gauge their internet quality, confirmation bias kicks in and they think because a youtube video sounds extra loud that means the internet is faster.

The one niche use is tethering, but tiny mobile data caps fuck that up anyway... Hey, I've got an idea, why don't they measure internet speed in how many seconds it takes for you to fill up your monthly data cap?

near zero latency to the tower which is nice but this shit is really sketchy.

We could have had free long range wifi, but "5G" is more profitable and better for surveillance, so we get this shit instead.

There is 5G PPP Phase 3 Information day and Stakeholders event happening soon where I live.

I would go check this future of botnet, but it's probably not open to students.

Neurolace coming soon faggots

TIPS TIPS TIPS TIPSI PTSIPTISTIOSITPSTIPSTIPSTIPISTIPSTPISTIPIPSTIPST

Fucking stupid. No sane manufacturer would make braking for an obstacle dependent on the network. Lights, conditions, and other things, sure, but without networkless failsafes, a network hiccup or internet fuckup (which happen all the time; just last week a Qwest screwup in Denver killed internet connections between all of southern Colorado and most of Kentucky) can instantly turn an intersection into a bloody deathtrap.
Low-latency and high bandwidth are important, but this is the worst example possible.

Gee, I haven't been hearing this for the past 20 years.

lmao fuck laws of nature

/cyber/ was supposed to be a warning.

I'm working at nokia on 5g. Every presentation or training material begins with 20 minutes of propaganda how 5g is gonna be great and solve all the world problems. Self driving cars and shit like that and all I'm thinking of is how this shit can be exploited. Most people working on this are very cynical, they also seem to see the potential bad thing around this. I don't want to have anything to do with this shit honestly, but this is my first programming job, so I'll stay here for at least a year to have the mandatory 1 year experience thay should help me find the job anywhere. I didn't know I'd be working on 5g when I applied. They just needed c++ programmers for linux

Networking guy here. 5G is a very long way away (the plan is 2027) and very little has been decided about it.
Qualcomm on the other hand is fucked and is doing mass layoffs, benefits packages have been slashed, and they've just gone on a huge advertising binge about how great they are (you're reading a Qualcomm ad pretending to be news) despite having done nearly no advertising in the past. They're likely looking for a buyer.

It's coming in 2020 and 3gpp released their spec few days ago.

Yeah, ok. Did we all forget about what was promised with 4g?

Now, let’s address this topic from a more technological standpoint, and cover why current “4G” is not “real 4G.” As we now understand, 4G is a set of telecommunications standards, as defined by the ITU (International Telecommunications Union) way back in 2008. According to these standards, in order for a carrier to qualify as a 4G provider they must be able to support download speeds of 100 Mbit/s for high mobility communications (trains, cars, etc.) and 1 Gbit/s for low mobility communications (pedestrians, stationary users). Currently, not one of the carriers branded as a 4G provider have met these standards, and are therefore not truly 4G networks. As blatantly stated by the ITU, “Any claim that a particular technology is a 4G technology or system today is, in reality, simply a market positioning statement by the respective technology advocate.” However, all major carriers that label their networks as “4G” are allowed to do so by the ITU because they are implementing technology to meet 4G standards as we speak, and will actually have real 4G networks in the very near future. Get excited.
hoperun.net/hrtc/the-plain-and-simple-truth-what-is-4g/

This was in the early 2010s. We never got "4g", and now we're talking about how amazing 5g will be. It's all bullshit, as said, this is a paid PR piece to hype up Qualcomm.

You winfag luddites need to stop posting on this board. If your shitty proprietary puter constantly gets viruses from downloading porn, it doesn't mean that properly developed gnu+linux-based IoT system would do the same.
Wordfilter that, mods. It's not even funny anymore.
Oops, I guess, this technology is not for 3rd world countries like clappistan.
t. brainlet never heard of quantum teleport

Captain Obvious is here, it seems.
Blow me. Even ethernet has 4ms latency.
What the fuck? Pic related. What does VR have to do with construction jobs? Why does network latency matter when VR equipment is usually connected via USB?
Oh boy, time to get ready for Googlevision!
And ludicrous costs :^)
???

The only bit of technical info that the article has is the '1ms latency' and it's bullshit. Why is tech journalism all buzzwords and no technical aspects these days? Has science gone too far?

You are stupid and I bet you support economic liberalism. It is more profitable to not make "properly developed gnu+linux-based IoT system[s]".

Propagation of information is limited by c, "muh quantum maymay" is not an argument.

Well theoretically you could stream 720p video over 3g using vp9 and get reasonable playback speeds/buffering. But the performance without hardware acceleration will be shit for phones. That's not taking into account the shitty baggage on every page load ala 12MB youtube pajeetscript botnets.

LTE barely covers all of that at the cost of battery drain to the extreme and no FOSS equivelent for modem firmware. 5G/cancer is just a shit marketing meme that needs to burn with fire. Otherwise it will literally be spreading cancer via EM waves. What needs to be done is website makers/youtube not using such shit tools and advertising/botnet bloat. Along with actually optimizing phones to not be such shitty bloated botnets. Let users turn it into a botnet. Not come preinstalled as a botnet.

You're free to believe that. But I told you what's actually happening.

It's going to be a hard sell. Qualcomm is "American". They've almost entirely replaced their white staff with Pajeets, many of whom are overstays and several I know simply walked in from Canada, and their employees help hold the door open. It's like an underground railroad for illegals. Whenever I have to go over there, I'm the only WHITE MALE in the building. All the competent people left years ago.
They've also lost control at a management level. When you're hired by them, that's just getting in the door. You're expected to then look around inside and find a project that wants to use you, or eventually end up culled in a mass firing. It's like an arena and these pseudo-employees are expected to fight each other for work. This leads to sabotaging one another and other not-getting-shit-accomplished behaviors.

I don't know much about phones and all this g shit I just need it to make calls and send texts, but how long will 3G, 3.5G and 4G networks exist? I was finally forced to upgrade from my old phone of 12 years, and I don't want to have to upgrade every 2-3 years because they changed some shit I don't care about.

I hope it will.

T.not secret agent

you dumb idiot 3G (HSPA) can receive 720p videos in realtime. Don't pretend you need 1080p or 4k to be watched on this tiny screens. All other things like files, websites, images work very fast.

4G is useless for mobile devices, it could maybe be useful for desktop PC's in remote areas (external antenna needed).

Protocol seven should not be developed in this timeline.

...

Implying nigger kike faggot isps/carriers wont ruin it before its even deployed in every way possible

just in time for them to turn your smart phone into a total thin client and stream the whole os over the internet.

We don't need 5G, 4G is enough for me to shitpost and I switch on 2G occasionally to save battery at work.

Do you honestly think people will start making pianos, fridges and other shit with IoT brains in them? The closest alternative I see people bandwagoning on is the implementation of a device like an iPhone that captures a multitude of data and is hooked to an IoT device by way of something like a jack (think a guitar plug into an amp or some shit) that comes with the appliance).

This way is is much more flexible so somebody that owns a bunch of IoT devices can use the 'iPhone' device to hook up and capture data or whatever with whatever they want, whenever they want and not be cucked into having an appliance come hard wired with an IoT hardware.

I've had wine so this might not make the most sense on your first read

Isn't all of this IoT bullshit why the 60GHz ISM bands are being pushed?

I still cant figure out why my things need internet.

Your family member is sold some cheap quasi-useless shit that only works online and needs a monthly subscription fee.

When you decide to shut it down, you wait for 8 hours only to some fucking 16 year old Indian living in a cage.

You can't stop the tide.

So what, you don't have to use any of that shit. I never bought smartphone. I'm still using cat-5 instead of wifi. Never got myspace/facebook/twitter accounts. At some point you have to recognize that much of this new "technology" isn't very useful but instead dangerous and insidious.
When it comes to actual technology, the modern shit sucks. Widescreen crap, shitty laptop keyboards, botnet cpus and hardware without specs. Even the fucking TVs spy on you now, and they sucked already before (it's just brainwashing propaganda machine), but somehow they figured out how to make them even worse.

To spy on you.
Version 1.0 will sell your data.
Version 2.0 will attempt to influence you.
Version 3.0 will listen for nonconforming thought and report you.

This is what bluetooth low-energy, lora, zigbee, lifi are made for: transferring service data from IoT crap that shouldn't to be connected to the net directly, but usually through "IoT gateways" a glorified router/firewall with constant updates that will not expose your outdated proprietary chink cameras with bare telnet port to wan. Normies are too dumb to even plug the jack. But boy, in an age of planned obsolescence, wouldn't it be convenient to know when your Smart'O'Cool™ Cloud-connected fridge goes to end it's life cycle (5 months after purchase) by politely notifying you through your iPhone™ XXX® fridge companion app that it will start thawing your freezer compartment until you pay an extra fee to prolong the warranty service? Repair and spare parts not included
But yes, there are already internet-connected fridges that run Android or WebOS, and electronic synthesizers (pianos) with companion smartphone apps too.

They are pushing 5G especially because of IoT, so it's normal that they are mentioning it

5G.
5 times faster acquiry of brain cancer.
To kill off the brain-dead wageslaves even faster.
Armageddon can not come sooner.

God please smite all the users of IoT, for they have opened the portal to their own hellish demise

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA KILL NORMIES NOW
UNABOMBER WAS RIGHT

That sounds really Orwellian for some reason...

game over

Why would you need the internet to do that? It just seems like a backdoor so that CIA niggers can jam the signal so it wouldn't work.

I doubt any of this will happen. Long before any thing of the sort happens society will probably collapse. Right now were like a Red Giant before it explodes. I imagine 2020 is probably where everything is just going to fall apart.

nobody does because fucking less than 1% of systems run one of your autismo distros. if they start making fagnet of faggots a reality with linux running them you can bet your ass they will be hacked.

Nobody would ever write malware for 97% of all public facing internet servers and 60% of all mobile devices. No, that would be a ridiculous waste of time.

This is your problem now.

I wonder how much of the node.js and rust package management is malware. They let anyone upload anything with no oversight, no reviewers, no archives, and no distro maintainers. It'd be so easy to have slipped something in at some point that backdoored the development machines of most webdevs, and there's no way to prove it hasn't happened.
