We have a soda machine on the premises, and things are really slow this time of year. The boss' wife goes out there and collects the money every single day.

Once the soda machine was eating people's coins, so I put a little sign on it that said 'bills only please.' She made me take it off because she was worried people would be afraid to use it.

They won't spend the money to get the rooms treated for bedbugs. You can get the poison and spray for them yourself. Its very cheap if you do it that way. They'd rather just let the hotel get infested. They wonder why they have such bad reviews online. Some of us employees got together and miraculously convinced them to spray the worst rooms and put bug covers on all the beds. When we told them how much they could lose in a lawsuit is when they finally started coming around.

Usually a hold is placed on someone's credit card when they check in, and is actually charged at checkout. We charge all cards for the whole stay on check-in, because they have to have the money in their account the next business day. They constantly bitch about how bad business is even though revenue is up $30K YTD from last year, and will likely be even higher after thanksgiving and christmas.

God forbid you put out too much breakfast in the morning. If you do that, people might eat it, and we can't have that. You want to put out two pots of coffee, so you don't have to keep running over to the breakfast room to make more all morning? No! Make one pot, and wait until it is completely empty before making a new one. The best part is, corporate standards dictate that there should be a breakfast attendant whose only job is to greet guests and keep breakfast stocked, but if they did that, they would have to pay them. There is no breakfast attendant, even on busy weekends when we've sold out the night before. Its not just breakfast, almost nothing is up to corporate standards. They would have to spend money to get things up to standards.

When doing laundry they constantly overload the washing machines and drier, because they don't want to spend money on water. Then they bitch that shit isn't getting properly washed or dried.

I gotta admit though, its a pretty great job this time of year. Things are slow and I just sit on my laptop and shitpost until its time to run the night audit. That takes about fifteen minutes. Then I shitpost until I need to make breakfast. After that my shift is over and I go home and shitpost until I go to bed.
