In many ways it's better for someone like Paul Ryan if Hillary is president because then they have a built in excuse for not getting anything done. They can raise money just by pointing out their "no" votes. It's actually the Democrats from that point out that would have the pressure on them to appear productive.

This isn't just any presidential election, the outcome will decide the Supreme Court's makeup for as much as 50 years. Trump wins, we're nationalist, Hillary wins and we have 3-4 diverse liberal judges packing the Supreme Court and trust me, Hillary will pick the youngest judges she can trust.

In effect, this is the only election that matters if you're a Republican. Except the GOP doesn't. They should have been willing to fall on their swords for Trump, they didn't. They should be giving impassioned speeches to work up their local base, they haven't. They never did care. Because the game they are playing isn't about political victories, it's about staying in power.
