Why would Russia want to destabilise the US? The US is the one who is amassing troops along the edge of Russia's western border and making all kinds of threats.

The public announcement of nuclear survival drills gives a good message, it says "we are not fucking around". Why you think Russia would like to send this message? Because Putin is actually trying to avoid a war, and things like this give the public a wake up call. And if Russia actually were behind Wikileaks releases etc, it would be because disrupting the US government now is far better than a big nuclear war coming from a Hillary presidency.

There really isn't a way to "on the cheap" survive nuclear fallout/radiation unless you are fugging away from "targeted" areas. If "endgame" switch gets thrown, ain't going to be any place you can run too as you, much like the rest of us here, are not of enough value to save and dodging a shitload of nukes from russia/china… Ain't going to be any place left unnuked realistically.

Think about it, why hit a single city more then 2-3 times? With a "supposed" 100 nukes (some figure of Russia alone), that's enough for what? 30ish+ "major" citys? There's really not enough in a single area to hit more then once and not just let the fallout/radiation take care of the rest of the area around, let lone wind pasterns to blow the fallout all over the fuggin place. So 1 nuke per major city, 100ish citys, fallout wafting along upon the wind. Even if you was lucky enough to not be close to a ground zero, whats to say the fallout don't land all around you? How long would it take to be safe enough to leave a "innawood" burrow pit to see wtf is going on?
I would also much like ideas, but I don't realistically see an outcome with many survivors, let alone my self being one of them regardless of "preparedness".
