I think I could see the fun factor in it but it just looked almost too girly for me to watch. I'd say the cute characters are what drives the show but the porn turnout has been rather low.

It's basically babby's first henshin hero series, but I find it so fun* that that doesn't really matter.

The alter ego romance shit is nicely done, most of the archetypes are well represented, and you'd have to be a jaded little shit to be that ass blasted over henshin hero stock footage.

My opinion will probably change later but so far I like it.

I have also been watching it as of late.

I like French-Chinese girl Spider-man with her also Rule 63 Black Cat which is basically named the same thing while having french connotations.
I like the kind of Luck theme between the two.
I like how well they made the secondary antagonist that is female Flash Thompson because despite being fictional I want her to get hit with an assault truck.
I like how in true Flash Thompson spirit that she is a fan of the main protagonist's alter ego.
I like the attempt at a magical girl story with it's villian of the week, but with a blend of standard western superhero aesthetics.
I like the small pigtails so it isn't just an asian girl with boy hair.

I do not like the lack of environments in the show where it seems the writing actually hinges on female Flash Tompson's Hotel over and over.
I do not like female Flash also being the thing that the two protagonists have to save because her being an antagonist devalues her as a character you would not like to see get horribly murdered.

I do not like that Black Cat doesn't have the same ability as Jinx from Teen Titans and instead is just corrosive like Shego or something.

The strangest choice to me seems like having the main protagonist have BOTH the same powers as action-man combined with a strange shape shifting multi-tool.
I'm fine with her being action-man in a kind of sudo-luck manipulation but the yo-yo being more than it already is (which is a lot more things) makes it retarded.
The items she uses should simply already exist in the environment.

I'm over half way in and the lack of an origin story seems really stupid.

The attempt at making the show gender neutral seems to hamstring the show because the original Ladybug themesong is better and the show is vastly more about her than her love interest.

in their infinite wisdom in deciding to make it episodic instead of arc-based, the producers decided to save the origin story for the end of the series

It's not the end of the series, but it's after half the episodes were aired atm.

I did attempt to watch this because the show is on netflix now. I was expecting something fairly edgy based on the reaction it was getting from the entire internet about how she's a strong independent woman who likes a boy and is a superhero and whatever else.

it is, no hyperbole, a show for 3 year olds. there is an amazing amount of "refugees" in the cast as well. it's peppa pig but set in a surprisingly crime free paris, and not starring animal hand puppets.

Yep, that the standard for a 3D animated TV series, you gotta recycle your 3D set pieces for future episodes to save budget. One thing I noticed when watching is the grey, industrial stairwell for the TV studio is also used for the fancy hotel where it looks out of place.

I think everyone wishes it could've stayed closer to its original 2012 vision, that had potential while this final product just shows episodic script repetition, which is passable for this first season (and their no story arc excuse) but goddammit if they just repeat that formula again for future seasons, this series is fucked.

Basically the main reason why I watch the show (also the other girls are total waifus too). Either than that I also don't have much of a high standard towards a cartoon's story/dialogue so I'm still entertained with what's happening in the episodes. Action's at least decent (imo) so I that's a plus too.

In a bizarre note every female classmate that becomes a villain is because of her actions. Paris would actually be safer if she was removed from it.

Just go watch the Origins part 1/2 episode first, and the some of the story problems with the show are due to them not making a overall story arc so kids can watch it without missing anything so there isn't much continuity between episodes (but some do clearly take place before others).
