Basically, the price of comics keeps moving up and up, and if you're driving down to a comic shop (which is usually going to have significant space to trading card games and other kinds of gaming), everyweek, that's more gas money. Now granted, you can say "oh that's a hobby," but hobbyists will always be niche. To give you an idea, if your comic moves 50,000 issues a month consistently, your comic is considered huge. But this number is tiny, only about $200,000, compared to the billions capeshit rakes in. And that assumes your series draws 50k every month, ignoring the sharp decline in readers as the series goes on.

Movie fans don't read comics, unless it's direct tie-in shit. And even if they do read the tie-ins, there's always a MASSIVE drop off in buying numbers after the first couple of issues. So the movies are huge with plebs, and Marvel/DC are desperate to boost comic sales. The comic industry was anemic before Iron Man took off, and it still is. This is why the big 2 are so desperate for the virtue signalling. So they're going with the social justice shit to make the sjw the new hardcore fans.

The result? The monthly sales have gone slightly down, indicating that there's bleed off of the hardcore readers regardless if SJW are even bothering to keep reading.
