Yes:

I'm looking forward to it before the cyberpunk dystopia mutates into The Matrix. It'll be a cool stop along the way to the human race's inevitable and indestructible slavery if communism isn't somehow achieved.

who /lainchan/ here?

nigger don't draw more glitterboys over there

wrong thread nigga

An aspect of cyberpunk, IIRC, is that businesses and corporations become more powerful and influential than the governments or countries. Which is funny because that has already in early 20th century Latin American banana republics with the United Fruit Company basically controlling the countries.
What I mean is bananapunk when?

I linked my other post because the middle paragraph already demonstrates what my opinions are on the future. IMO, we're headed for a cyberpunk dystopia, but it'll just be a stop along the way to a horrid Landian technocracy.

a less fun one, yes.

...

bannanapunk exists. Play Iter Vehemens ad Necem

I hope not because I fucking hate cyberpunk.

Return to the Wild West when?

WHEEEEN?

What do you mean "next step"?

Cyberpunk is already here

yes

look to china's "socialist" model for a picture of the future

it's a model even conservatives can admire

...

It's already here.

We've this close to cyberpunk.

Robots are almost ready to replace most jobs, self driving cars are almost done, the first AR game is released an everyone is playing it, corporations are buying elections and we are almost done with keeping up the farce of democracy.

It will actually become more and more like slums like the walled city, unless the capitalists want to invest in public transport because the working class will increasingly be unable to afford it.

Most of humanity lives outside the USA

...

Honestly, it'll be both. You'll have spires and skyscrapers mixed with suburbs and sprawling ghetto slums. Traditional buildings will go, unfortunately. The united, traditional city will give way to an urban sea of slums, suburbs, and skyscrapers, with everybody divided into ghettos and gated communities, primarily based on racial tribalism. The nation, region, and city will falter in this globalist, capitalist world. Of course, certain historical city centers will be preserved, mostly for tourism and the occasional hipster, but they will be a shadow of their former selves, literally living in the shadows of glass skyscrapers.

And, this is why we need full-on Revolutionary Left-Wing Nationalism, to stop the attack of global capital upon the working-class.

Suburbs exist world-wide, they just tend to be more like America's "urban" ghettos with some actually being American-style suburbs. Most of the mudslimes in Paris live in ghetto-suburbs I believe.

Nonetheless that's the point of view PKD had for the future and he's more integral to the genre than say, William Gibson

I disagree .

No.
It's just a kind of escapism. People who can't even afford proper health care or go to a restaurant every once in a while won't be able to afford kewl cyberpunk implants and cyborg eyes.

kill yourself rebel

No, that's the current step.

Most western countries besides the US have some form of universal healthcare, making it one possible mechanism for mass cyborgization. Cochlear implants for example are covered where I live. Hell, my dad listens to the tv via his bluetooth enabled hearing aids and has a titanium knee.

This is actually what i'm fearing the most. I can't imagine how angry i'd feel seeing wealthy people which robot bodies while i'm stuck as flesh

Yes, because the only way to stop a capitalism that is easily eroding national identities and tribalism is to… become tribalists ourselves, instead of, you know, out-doing the globalism of capitalism with socialist globalism? God, this recent fetish the left has developed for the nation-state needs to be shut down or shut up, it's regressive as fuck.

Yes, that or mad max.

One step back and two steps forward. Recent developments have shown tribalism and national identities to be far more resilient than you pretend. Capitalism can sustain globalism as long as it also provides constant economic growth and benefits all parities, but when problems arise, all international solidarity gets thrown out and it's back to the nation states. Also, revolutions at national level are much more practical.

The fact you frame that as a question shows how little thought you've put into it.

we even have futureistic sports

The globalists are clinging to a dying star praying it doesn't go supernova all over their faces.

There was never any way to ensure one world government without totalitarianism.

Lol. Never gonna happen again. The Wild West is just another part of the grand delusion that is the American Dream.

The whole fucking pervasive ideology of Americans is pretty much derived entirely from this short period of massive resource availability when, for a brief period, capitalism actually did offer a sort of "equal opportunity". The fucking rhetoricians claim, however, that the previous success was a product of some esoteric, nebulous "character" or "culture" rather than tangible material conditions, which is why workers today continue to brake their backs with no hope of advancement: they believe that meaningless hard work inevitably and inexplicably generates success. It's ridiculous.

What do you think?

I was thinking about pokemon go, augmented reality.
What if someone created contact lenses you could put on and augment your reality.
Like, you would see pokemon in front of you for real.
Corporations would literally be creating reality.

A lot of the things in cyberpunk have come to pass.
Hackers fighting the government, the government being owned by giant corporations, east asian culture rising (china instead of japan though)
Type in boston dynamics into youtube and see the robot that will replace you in the future and help fight wars.
Soldiers will be wearing iron man exo skeleton armor, probably cops too.
Virtual reality is coming as well.
Self driving cars.
3D printers.

The only thing missing are sex bots, mega cities, and biker gangs.
Also being able to physically be inside the internet, blurring the lines between reality and virtual

A lot of this will come to pass or already has passed, and the cyberpunk writers will be hailed as prophets.

Imagine what prosthetics will be like 50 years from now.
Once they become equal or better than human flesh than people will start going crazy and cutting their arms off for a robot arm

youtube.com/watch?v=KPhkVPNKtVA

also when democracy is gone and robots have taken the jobs lets form the marx biker gang and just rob rich people, got to survive somehow

I know people who already want to do this. Don't really know how to feel about it. It doesn't seem important.

I know, its part of those body mod freaks, i read an article one time about how one of them cut their hand open and shoved a magnet inside of it so that they could feel the vibrations or some crazy shit.
The media and society wont care till we reach a point where prosthetic become better than human flesh

lets form the mandatory badass cyberpunk resistance,

is cyberpunk necessarily capitalistic?

I don't understand why people hate pokemon go, what's the difference between that and sitting at a computer playing video games? At least people are getting some sunlight and exercise in their miserable lives.

it is popular therefore people hate for, outside the mainstream reasons

Datamining.

Yep.
It's Corporatocracy.

The coproration is the nation, the church and the army. You are a wage slave and have to be glad to be part of the corporation. Your boss is like a post modern father. The city is filled with slums of reserve army of labor. Do your job or you'll become a shadowrunner.

It's shit.
AR should be far better.

IMO it's a meme and will die. I hope better AR will come and some day we'll have state AR parks for prol recreation.
