You need to move between both pragmatically. Capitalism is usually better for the long run but eventually winds down and socialism can fix a lot of the issues that arise but socialism usually doesn't last very long before parasites destroy the system.

You might want to read the economy part of this PDF. Fascism is a mix of both "capitalism" and "socialism", it's arguable on how socialist the founders of fascism is, but I believe it leans a little bit more towards socialism. But, if it wasn't for the forced polarization of the Democratic system, we wouldn't have any such thing as "left and right wing" ideologies. They'd just be called what they are, communism, fuedalism, capitalism, socialism, etc.
