Why are so many people opposed to reading Marx? I mean, to at least have a base understanding of communism, you can read the Manifesto, it isn't that long and gives a basic outline for what communism actually is.

Capital is obviously a bit harder to read, but it's still possible if done patiently.

People don't bother to educate themselves on things they think they already know.

I feel like it's the same logic of NRA … we need guns not because of the state but because of brown people. I mean being a misanthrope is one thing, but the absolute paranoia of these people towards others is incomprehensible.

Every time someone says "incentive to work" I reach for my gun.

It's like he can't let go of the neoliberal ideology even for a second

wut ?

Rome fell because the government did something ever, which is obviously Socialism

i asked if he'd ever read the communist manifesto

correction *anything by karl marx*

I hope you are having fun with this retard. You should at least tell him how well free market cocksuckers like Alan Greenspan ended.

...

pretty sure you're wasting your time

feels great man

these arguments feel like something someone who just took a civics class in high school would say

MY LADS JUST WENT FULL WEW

well because people only do things for money after all

in before whatever example "isn't really capitalism"

flipping burgers and doing engineer work is literally the same other than the pay

Pointing out how fragile the world financial system is would also be good.

Like clockwork.

is it really busting you're ass if you enjoy doing it? I've been programming for a decade and I wouldn't go work for mcdonalds for a raise because being bored is fucking horrible

it's not the same pay at all
engineers and scientists in the ussr had the biggest pays (around 1200-1500 rub) while the common worker only got 150

Well over forty keks.

This better be a shitgif. I'm not sure how they do things in Venezuela but if the government is truly democratic and it can be said to be owned by the people then by proxy you can say it's socialism even if it isn't as nice as direct, decentralized ownership.

Two people are walking down the street, one is an economist
The non-economist says, hey look, a $100 note on the ground!
The economist says - no there isn't, if there was someone would have picked it up by now

Then why do you need to innovate beyond personal curiosity?
Here is your incentive to work
How is this hard to understand?

The middle-school tier spooks, holy fuck.
I'm triggered. It's like arguing with young earth creationists; It's a Gordian Knot of bullshit.

heh

So capitalism prevents solving world poverty/hunger/disease/scarcity on the basis of incentive to work towards eliminating these things?

The truth is that incentive is based on more than just money or a desperate need to survive. Plenty of innovation comes from being creative for the sake of it, and it's been proven that cash incentives are not as good at increasing productivity as things like extra holidays or other benefits anyway. Regardless, our incentive to work is surviving in the capitalist system, and just because it's true under these circumstances doesn't make it true if society were set up differently.

Some would say poverty/hunger/disease/scarcity are intentionally unsolved because they create a huge area for capitalists to further exploit.
