My other laptop is an AMD E1-2100 series APU that's newer than the N270 by about 5 years but is only negligibly faster because AMD sucks at single core IPC. Not running at the moment because it still has an old build of Debian with Apache and TinyIB from when I ran a personal imageboard on it

The chip is identical to the desktop 1060, this is true, but it's still an 'M' model and is restricted for thermals and power. It's still much faster than the old 9 series Ms don't get me wrong, but we're also comparing a low-end 10 series to the mid-range 9 series. The 1060m still wins, but not by a territory huge margin.

Because that is how much a 1060 beats a 970m also if you get a 1050ti it is basically the same since they don't use that much power anyway.

Ironically, the less botnet a computer has built-in, the less chances of it being networked. How many 1970's and 80's home computers and consoles ever got a TCP/IP stack? I'm aware of much later and rarely used custom hacks like Lunix and SymbOS, but otherwise those machines spent their entire life air-gapped. At best you could hook up a serial modem, but that severely cramps the cianiggers' style. Especially since there's no firmware to infect and no negative CPU rings to exploit. Find the dimensions of the GPU you want to put in. Also make sure you have a PCIe slot and not a PCI slot (even though PCI has been dead since 2010 there are a lot of old rigs ITT so just double-check)

If its a slim form factor OEM case you don't have a very good chance of finding a fit, but if its a full-sized tower you shouldn't have to measure

Got this laptop for cheap back in 2013(black friday), still going strong. Replaced the HDD with an SSD and added 4GB of ram and that's about it.

If you're saving videos from youtube, it adds up quick. Then there's full MAME sets, TOSEC, magazine and comic book scans, RPG books, etc. I have 142G in comic book scans alone, most of it found via demonoid back when it was really active. And that's not manga, it's all western stuff like Heavy Metal magazine and Savage Sword of Conan. I'm not even close to having everything either (hardly have any Marvel or DC stuff tbh). I also want to get into the old pulp magazines from early 1900's…
