Board Proposal: Remove the rule that Holla Forums is exclusively for "Western" comics and animation

Could the rule about Holla Forums being a board exclusively for "Western" comics and cartoons be removed, and just make the board about comics and cartoons in general?

To begin with, anime and manga are just Japanese cartoons and comics, so why the deserve their own board (With Chinese and Korean comics forcibly thrown in) is beyond me. Second, more and more animated projects are coming out of Asia, and then there are series like Voltron and Transformers where the series is a collaboration between Eastern and Western studios which make things even messier (And, that's not even including media where a specific part of it was animated by a studio from a different region, or the series that are entirely made in one region while imitating another). Third, there appears to be a tolerance here for /a/ material that appeared on Toonami and other such programming blocks, which then begs the question of, "Why not just go all the way?"

Out of all the problems Holla Forums has, not the Anons that keep bumping dead threads for months on end with nothing but images with no discussion, autistic Holla Forums poster creating shitty threads and namefagging without purpose, the over abundance of empty waifu threads that barely have any discussion at all besides "wanting to fuck X thing", Anytown fag stil shilling his art, Powergirl Autist still around, Truthseeker and others from Holla Forums, Discussions for and against ID implementation, mods not doing anything to delete obvious shitposts that usually derails threads (the faggots who constantly ask for porn, people who bring up other boards or make threads meta) and you decide to pick on this? Toonami is allowed and if its not made or had production elements in Japan its not anime

I'd say stuff like Jojo is fine. No DBZ or other shit tier shonen though. Only the good stuff like BnHA. But I feel like if we let that stuff in then it'll just open a new can of worms. Soon the board will be flooded with more waifu shit along with moe everywhere. That shit needs to stay on /a/. Not to mention most of people would rather talk about anime or cartoons considering how few in number there is of good western stuff.

*anime over cartoons

How about we keep it as-is? No one has any problem with how things are now. Everyone knows which board you take it to if you want to discuss it.

B:TAS was animated in Japan for a fair amount of episodes. It's still Western.
Mostly just go by where it was written, or rely on /a/-shit having stupidly long titles that don't relate to the show.

This user is right. This is a non-issue.

BO allows anything on Toonami. JoJo should get it's own board by now, though. I suppose the anime on Adult Swim from back in the day would count, too, but then that lets in shit like Sailor Moon and Naruto, which are clearly anime.

Nice try Satan, but anime promotes the destruction of the West and Japan by low reproduction rates.

OP and are likely the same user and are probably Holla Forums or /a/ shitposters.
Or even worse fucking Goons.

If its on Toomai or had air time on a equivalent 4kids channel block for Saturday morning cartoons, it stays. Stuff like Pokemon, Digimon, One Piece, DBZ, Samurai Pizza Cats all technically count.

They've proven themselves they are good especially after the /coco/ raids with /cow/, its usually someone pretending to be from that thread that tries to spread shitposting about JoJo.

Also there's a difference? :^)

Keep it in a single thread I say, at least for the smaller anime shows or the more autistic ones on toonami. DBZ and a couple others getting an exception for history sake.

We can talk about highjink's fuckup from time to time but no one, NO ONE needs to be reminded of THAT travesty, user.

Give it a rest HighJinx. You've been beating the same dead horse for almost a year now.

>>>/a/ might be a shithole but it's the shithole you deserve

That's fucking retarded.
>>>/a/

Since this is like a meta thread and a shit thread at the same time, I'm going to say this here.
I miss halfchan Holla Forums and /trash/. I gave it a look for nostalgia sake an sure, it have it's problems, the shitposting it's so heavy that it's impossible to have a meaningful conversation of any sort. Yet, the place is full of life, OCs everywhere, replies everywhere, drawfags, writefags, AMAs, stupid shit and overall lighthearted and specially less political stuff, shit is cash.

As it's always said, I wish Holla Forums could be halfchan userbase and speed with Holla Forums post quality. Yet, you see shit like OPs and you just lose hope and wish for something better that will never happen. Also, my ISP is banned so I can't just go back

Shit, I forgot to sage.

Not really. Even allowing 1 thread would just invite /a/ shitposters, who would eventually campaign that it's big enough to have 2 threads, then 3, until it's flooded.

Anyone got caps from /coco/? I have some I'll post if I find them.
I enjoyed /coco/ more than HighJinx. He just wasn't as fun.

That's what's called the "saging is a downboat" tactic.
4/co/ is utter shit now. They just funpost in every thread. There's no OCs apart from very sparse shitty pics in the drawthreads, writefags are 99% cancer and I've never seen an AMA on there, let alone since it went downhill.

Only half-decent thing about them is they storytime new releases quickly, but they only have 1 image per post, so if you try to download all images on the page, you get fucking 30 memes inbetween each page.

user, I genuinely meant to sage since I know I'd have get bullied for my opinion if I made it to the first page.
True.
Not sure if in Holla Forums since the shitpost was too bad, but /trash/ have a lot of OC in their respective generals, if you can stand the inbetween shitposting. But I believe that shitposting is an inevitable price for number of active users, since there's a big chance you'll have edgy 12yo shitting everything, but among those there are content creators.
Debatable. Yet, content being created is better than no content at all, which is the case of Holla Forums. No new content means stagnated discussions, and honestly, that defeats the point of quality posts. Original content, as cancer as it might be, is still a source of discussion.

I don't care that much for story time, but then again, that really shows that speed and numbers matter.

No. Get the fuck out. You faggots are already shitting up Holla Forums.

anime does not belong on Holla Forums. that includes Jojo.

I still say we should stickie two types of threads.

Some sort of "Show your Work or Show what you're working on thread" to promote OC creation.

And a request thread so all the faggots asking for porn or specific images to be drawn can be focused in one place and drawfags have a specific and constantly active place to post art.

If you want this to happen, why'd you sage your post?

At least allow references, if not threads

I had it on before posting plus meta threads are much better when they're hidden so Anons who really care for the topic won't stop posting even when the thread is anchored.

Nope

It's bumplocked anyway.

Gonna vote against. I come here to discuss western comics and cartoons. Japanese and other Asian cartoons (inspired by Japan because they're the local leader of the industry) have their own framework and tropes and whatnot that make them too different for proper comparison. There is nothing stopping you from going to /a/ to discuss manganime, or from making a board to discuss all these media if you want.
As a personal note, I never agreed to the anime threads we already have. DBZ, Jojo and My Hero Academia are all fine shows, but discussion of them belongs on /a/ in my opinion. That OP feels secure enough to make his proposal only showcases that they indeed open the door for a slippery slope. Keep it up and we'll soon have the front page filled with nothing but threads about the latest moeblob slice-of-life anime. We don't need a second /a/ when one already exists.

Addendum: I make an exception for collaborative shows like OP mentioned (Avatar, Voltron, etc.) because the only Eastern quality about them is the animation. In terms of storyboarding and characterisation they're unmistakably Western.

Crying over it won't improve things. Try to be the change you wish to see and make interesting, engaging threads whenever you can.

I try to, but it's no use when you're speaking to a wall, as in there's nothing else besides the wall.
I'm not the problem, user, the problem is how small the user base is, not to mention that Infinity is the stupidest meme that can exist, that only works to spread the already small userbase through hundreds of mostly dead boards. I usually lurk dead and interesting boards and try to spark them but it's just no use, they will never make it to the top, and the top boards are either filled with over protective cancer or shitposting. Holla Forums barely manages it because it's PPH is pretty small in comparison, and it have it's ups and downs nonetheless.

I insist, the users aren't the problem, this imageboard is so niche and elitist that you hardly see shills or actual shitposters unlike most imageboards unless you're on Holla Forums or Holla Forums, but the whole design of the imageboard is a problem, Infinite meme needs to die, reducing the amount of boards so the users can concentrate and actually do things is, in my opinion, a good idea. If you want the "Made your own board" meme still alive, you can keep it, as long as you keep main boards so users can actually go there first before exploring the other ones that, in that case, would be dead anyway.
Other problem is how hermetic Holla Forums is, which is understandable, but without newfags that can turn into oldfags the place stagnates. There is never new content, and the one that is, at least on Holla Forums, is shrugged or censored and activities are mostly ignored. Raids are put aside because "not your personal army", attentionwhores who post tits are banned and the mods are all faggots on Holla Forums.
I don't know why I keep going. No one who cares will see or even read this post.

/a/ couldn't be any more dead. Or at least it's as dead as Holla Forums, and that's pretty bad considering that imageboards are build around anime. If you see people wanting to talk about anime here is because they can't in /a/, which brings me back to the point of concentrating the boards.

Oh, lastly, I only hate infinity because it doesn't work with Holla Forums. Infinity would make wonders for halfchan, it would divide the whole thing and subdue shitposting because the user base will spread. It would improve quality at the cost of PPH, which is no problem with an userbase as big as halfchan and it would be interesting to find weird and hidden boards through it. Not like you don't find them here, but they're dead with no discussions or even users on them.

Technically Holla Forums's a bit faster but we share the same velocity rate and constantly fight over 6th place in the top 25. /a/ only gets really active if something comes out plus their mod is more strict and active than Beyonder and doesn't tolerate much shitposting. Though it seems negotiable because when I went there once, he bump locked a Jap Food thread which was fairly active and really good. A week passes by and I see the thread again alive and on the first page.

Holla Forums has been stable for years, the only thing that changes is how much OC is produced, usually in quick spurts.

Well when your neighbors are Holla Forums, /a/, /cow and the landlord is Holla Forums and Holla Forums, you need to build a tough backbone when their leftovers decide to visit. Also, you need to bully the lurkers into shape, we all know what happened tumblr came and mistook the old saying "Holla Forums is love".

Holla Forums was always terrible, most raids on Holla Forums are either performed by Holla Forums, /cow/, /baph/ or /raid/ if it comes back to life.

I say the same thing but with the threads here. Concentrate the porn and waifu thread into two or three threads and it'll be constantly active and producing activity.

It was never going to work kid, Josh tried to run his own imageboard called 16chan with Infinity and it was a bug ridden mess that was slower than a handicapped nigger (most of the time). 16chan later closed and a chan called Next, decided to use it and try to fix Josh's mess but turns out they couldn't do shit and decided to rework the everything in an entirely new language of code.

Going through the catalogue, this already seems to be the case along with the fact that tv shows and movies are also allowed.

bump

The thread is bumplocked.
