Why can't we play as dragons

IN EVERY RPG YOU NEVER GET TO PLAY AS A DRAGON AND THE MAIN ANTAGONIST IS ALWAYS EITHER A SUPER POWERFUL HUMAN OR ELF MAGIC USER, A BEEFED UP ORC OR A DRAGON. WHY CAN'T WE EVER PLAY AS A DRAGON? IS IT BECAUSE THEY AREN'T HUMANOID ENOUGH AND ANYTHING THAT ISN'T HUMANOID IS ALWAYS A VILLAIN? THAT'S REAL RACISM. IT'S NOT LIKE THEY CAN'T BE MIXED WITH THE OTHER RACES LIKE:

IT ISN'T HARD TO COME UP WITH IDEAS

Lol is that really all you got from that?

BREATH OF FIRE

Never heard of it. My point is that: unless you can start out the game as a lvl 1 dragon and rank up like normal characters, it doesn't count. My main underlying point is that we can never be the villain and bring completely destruction to a society and rebuild it in your own vision; being a dragon is just something I thought fit because they're usually villains

Does anyone know who this is

i believe her name is tripoli?

You know where she's from?

the point of rpg is to enact a role and develop

play the 1974 D&D tbh
or maybe Swords & Wizardry: White Box edition, it's supposed to be basically the same thing. here's some dude's house rules and related shit: dndborderlands.blogspot.fr/search/label/Swords & Wizardry
you can basically do whatever the fuck you want in this game, but your dragon PC won't fit easily in dungeons when he grows up, unless he can polymorph or use magic to reduce his size

You pretty much just repeated what I said, only adding in the part of enacting a role

That's for nerds. I meant video games like the elder scrolls or something

the development is a very impotrant part of the game. Otherwise theres on challenge, i.e ITS OP

Let me ask you a question: is it more fun when you get one shotted by an enemy, have a fair fight with an enemy and lose every time, have a fair fight but win every time, or one shot an enemy?

the point of an RPG's end game is to be able to one shot some enemies and struggle with higher ranking ones, i.e. a power fantasy

u r a retard. Either just cheat, then or play real tabletop rpg and ask your game master to let all of u play as dragons. Then hes gonna whip out the book of epics and ruin u with monsters with 100 attacks per round

Answer the goddamn question

Oh! Look! A thread! About a subject! I'm going to argue with anyone stopid enough to take my bait! Ooooh! I am so edgy! I am so Alpha! Read my words and tremble at the power of my superior wisdom and insight, thou mere amateur flamers. Dare you even rise to attempt to mock me? I fear not your futile childish attempts. Be gone, slight little man.

why do u need to be a dragon, if u can cheat?

What are you going on about? My thread was just for me to pose a question and pitch a game idea, nothing more. You felt so insecure about whatever and resorted to playground insults.

My question was asking why can't game developers implement dragons into character creation, have them be playable like your regular elves and orcs and whatnot, and scale their power to that of a typical level one playable character. It not about cheating or being OP.

CRPGs are also for nerds tbh. The closest one is Wizardry IV. You'll probably just have to make your own.

Dungeons and knighthood and the like in table top format, are not my cup of tea. I don't give a fuck about other people's opinions because I do whatever the fuck I want, so that isn't the reason. I just think it'd be hard to find people to play with

Close but they were specified as lizard people. I mean dragons that can fly and level entire city states by themselves. I really just want to be a villain and destroy an entire country and rebuild it the way I want to.
I know the closest game to what I'm talking about is the Civ series but I want a 3d version. To have my life constantly threatened by rebels, citizens and even my own second in command; I just wanna kill people, in the game of course

fuck off, faggot

I am now imagining a dragon RPG, you dont have to litter the world with tons of NPC to make it seem inhabited because dragons are not as numerous as humans, so you could put a lot of effort into individual NPC due to them being so few, and make each one matter, I am imagining NPC like dark souls here where almost all of them have a quest interwoven into the game and there are real consequences to doing the quest and not, or killing them and not, which would make sense because being dragons they would be very powerful and impactful on the world around them

...

Dude seriously, grow up and engage like a normal human being or fuck off bro. You have provided me nothing in way of conversation or constructive criticism

eat a dick, u stupid bitch. U dont know what u want and no1 likes u

Some stories portray dragons as loners while others don't. It's not like the game would have to follow a mold or set template because I want it to be original even just the tiniest bit

I literally just explained my idea like six times in the entire thread. I know exactly what I want but I don't have a means to an end, ya get me?

yeah – u said u wanna be a dragon so powerful he can destroy cities and then u wanna be a dragon scaled down for PC purposes. And thats somehow valid, considering mages can do that and polymorph into dragons. And so can druids.

Never once did I say I want to be a dragon who is op and can level entire city states, I was saying that as a way to describe what TYPE of dragon I wanted to see. I also said I wanted the dragon to be the same as any other level one playable character and scale from there. The other shit was said by someone else entirely and is not my vision at all. Another thing I proposed is that someone made a game where we play as a villain (I did not specify that we be human or anything else, I just said villain) and could work out way up to destroying a country, rebuilding it as our own, and having NPCs constantly threatening our lives as either assassins from another country, rebels, citizens or even our own second in command. If you wanna argue, make sure you have valid points to attack AFTER hearing my side

i dont care about u enough to read what u write
villain - overlord

So why are you still here? You aren't trolling because you fail. You aren't engaging because you are being a butthurt cunt. So, why are you still here?

u r not making points, cuz u fail and u r not engaging, cuz there r games, that do the nothing u want. So, why r u here? Go play argonians

Ok well i see you've officially let your brain check out of the cranium hotel so I'm just gonna say thanks and keep it moving

more like keep spinning your whels in the mud, cunt

he is right, if you scale the dragon down what does it have that makes it different?
dragons usually have something along the lines of
now if you strip out anything OP for the beggining of the game you are left with
but we cant have scary since there is nothing to actually make it scary, so we just have
up further in the thread you gave examples of non quadruped options that you would be okay with, so its clearly not important, leaving us with
so yes, I fail to see how argonians do not fit the bill of "dragon but a level one adventurer"

for reference, all those cool ass abilities are usually handled in the janky homebrews that let you play as a dragon in tabletop games with a level adjustment (this means you are inherently higher leveled because you are a dragon, and iconic abilities like flight and fire breathing are quite valuable)

forgot to add
I would love a game based around and balanced around being a dragon from the start, but having other RPG races be options without being flatout inferior is a fools errand

Just build maps heavily centered around tight doorways

why wouldnt the player just smash them?
although even that does bring up some interesting gameplay, dwarves dont take extra damage from fire breath but being holed up it is often the best way to kill them
I really like this type of thing, where things are governed by more then just what makes the bigger damage numbers

Who said you have to remove flight or scales the firebreathing? Those are skills specifically for that race so they are weaker not non-existent. There are plenty of biped dragons and ones that have no legs but have hands. Dragons aren't limited to the typical european ones you see in most games. You guys have no imagination so my ideas are just going over your head and that's fine.

You start off as a baby dragon, fresh out the egg. You can barely walk and flying is absolutely out of the question. As you get stronger: your legs (if you chose to have them) get stronger, your wings get stronger, your scales get harder and your mouth beam -whatever it is- is too. The more you use your body and train yourself, the stronger you get, in typical fashion. As you get bigger, you develop a lust for something to protect: a large amount of gold and jewelry, a castle, a damsel, whatever and you go out and search for whatever it is you decided upon. You level up the more enemies you kill with your skills. These enemies will range from livestock to other dragons and beasts. You collect their shit to add to your shit after you beat them. Once you get stronger enough, you can then decide to either be a peaceful until disturbed dragon or an almighty deity who punishes those who don't worship him. Yadda yadda yadda, the end game is you become a super OP god who can't be stopped (given you've invested your skill points and training to OP moves and upgrades) until you meet the final boss, the biggest baddie out there, the dragon that is called Zol. He lives as the inner crust and core of the earth and if he's awakened, he destroys the land with everything and everyone on it, waits until his long lasting flames fizzle out and rebuilds the earth again. If you beat him you become Zol's successor and wait until you are woken up to destroy and rebuild the earth

...

okay

Again, I never said flying was out of the question. Jesus fucking christ is continuity something that only exists in good books?

Breath of Fire you millenial niggerfaggot

See

you literally agreed with me, that flight is too powerful to be put up next to level 1 elves or whatnot, but are just going on trying to argue anyway
do you have problems OP? like with your head?

Context clues would let you know that being fresh out of the egg, flying would prove difficult since the wings will more than likely be wet and feeble. I never said it was an OP power since it's a basic necessity for dragons however old they may be.

okay
but lets ignore that since it isnt important, flying is a "basic necessity for dragons", but it is VERY FUCKING GOOD for a level 1 adventurer, as long as the dragon starts with flight he will just be the better choice next to a normal race full stop, so having an normal RPG game where dragon is just one of the many races is completely out of the question for that reason and others

Ok, let me be clearer: fresh out of the egg is the character creation screen and level 1 is the moment you leave that screen. You can fly but not far, you aren't strong either and your scales and mouth beam are pretty weak too. The more you train these things, the better they become.

Is that clear enough for you?

I have already said I do not wish to pursue that particular contradiction because it does not touch on the core of the argument, but yes that does clear it up

Over time you get stronger but in the beginning you are the weakest character on the roster; you can even be killed by the lowest level monster or human in three hits and every level you gain is also an extra hit point gained. The max is 100 for every other character while dragons can go as high as 350 (450 if you become Zol's successor)

Certain characters can gain additional levels by slaying dragons. However many levels above the character the dragon is, is how many levels he could potentially gain later on.

tabletop already tried that, thats how pure casters work and they are flatout better then the other classes and everyone knows it
also
dosnt even work if you have flight, since you will never be threatened by melee attacks and only need to dodge projectiles, or since this is an RPG you could just only get into melee fights and just never be hit until you dont have to worry about the ranged attacks anymore

It's an interesting thought, player dragons. I could probably write up a racial character class for it if you play 3.5, otherwise you're probably on your own.

Well you don't choose a dragon to be a pussy, you choose it because you wanna fuck shit up. That's the point of my idea to EVENTUALLY become an OP mf that possibly can't be beat but your grind to reach max level takes a lot longer and other characters who have already reached max level can kill you. Probably should've mentioned that guns are apart of this universe too, just to make dragon slaying more fun and fair. The great thing about ideas is that anything can be added to it which is why I made this thread

What do you mean play 3.5?

...

theres a class handbook for enchanters and it has a prestige class, that turns u into a dragon, essentially

I'm not doing this with you again

u lost once already

bump

Yep yep

have you missed goat simulator?

also, if you play proper rpgs you can be anything you want

GOAT SIMULATOR IS NOT AN RPG

SOUNDS LIKE AN RPG TO ME

IF THAT WERE THE CASE THEN EVERY VIDEO GAME WOULD BE CLASSIFIED AS AN RPG, SINCE YOU WANNA GET TECHNICAL.
GOAT SIMULATOR IS NOT AN RPG BECAUSE YOU DON'T GAIN EXPERIENCE BY DOING SHIT AND UNLOCKING NEW POWERS OR UPGRADES AND SHIT
