Not quite. Jim jewed HW out of 8ch by staging a DOS raid and "offering to help" HW by hosting 8ch on his servers until the attack was over. He already owned the domain, so as soon as HW agreed and Jim got his hands on the site content that was all for HW. Jim kept him on to try to make it look like he wasn't behind the whole thing from the beginning, but nobody bought that, ever. It was during this period that HW initiated things like Sunshine and other very shrewd initiatives designed to make sure that 8ch would not only never be a success for Jim, but would in fact become a constant pain in the ass for him. It was pretty easy for HW to get the help he needed, as Jim fucked all of the globals and many of the BOs as well as HW.
There are many bad things that you can say about HotWheels without being called a liar. Saying that he sold out to Jim, or that he ditched the site are not two of those things. This site was stolen from him. Flat out stolen.
