I went to an MLP con once back in the early days

You can only have fun at conventions if you're in the "in crowd". Going to one alone is like going to a club or bar alone.

I mainly people/costume watched as the friend I went with had super annoying friends.
not very many people put enough effort into their costumes, which was disappointing. there was a neckbeard there that was smoking a cigar, wearing a yukata, while reciting poems and acting out little skits. he was fun to watch.
oddly enough, at least at the con i was at, the quality of the outfit reflected how well the girl looked for the most part. hamplanet= ebay sailor moon outfit, cute blondy=very nice saber outfit with natural hair in the style.

everything was expensive
most of the food sucked
game rooms were meh
activities sounded awful, or just were awful like watching hentai at 1am with other fuckers

I've been to a sci-fi convention (I know the organizers and I was helping them move tables and other menial labour shit like that) and I've met someone at a knitting and crochet convention. It's alright. I mean, if you're socialised and can just talk to people, even the sickest faggots can act like normal humans while they're around you.

I'd really like to go to an anime con, but I refuse to do it until I get /fit/ as fuck so I don't look like a greasy nerd. That way I maintain some level of pride even though I'm acting like an autistic child dressing up as chinese cartoons in public.

I've been to several.
I used to go with my cousin and we would harrass cosplayers by intentionally pretending to not understand their characters.
It got funny when we started harrassing people next year and they would recognize us.
Or when we went to the ambulance guys (they were around watching out for people having heat strokes) and asked them if they rented the ambulance to seem more realistic, and they started laughing and being retards with us.

I've gone to a few and cosplayed something each time. Wasn't some legendary cosplay but they were slightly above average.

It's never worth the fucking money, especially if you spent money on making cosplay. Cons are always a massive cringefest at worst or a borefest at best, even if you go with friends. If you have any dreams of meeting a cute cosplayer or weeb through a con, don't. Just save your money and buy some anime figures or some shit.
